Realtionship Material Group - Hierarchy

Hi experts,
I am developing an ABAP program that takes de material hierarchy from table KLAH and writes it to a text file. The problem I have is that I could not find the relationship between material group and hierarchy level. This what I've tried so far:
Looking for a table with such relationship - Did not find
Looking for a function module that can give this relationship - Did not find
Use ST05 and the run transaction WGUS - It gave me just tables KLAH, KSSK, MARA but I am not able to find this relationship using these tables..
Any suggestion will be highly appreciated

I have used the bapi BAPI_WRF_MATGRP_CHANGE for uploading the material in a retail project,
You can change an existing article hierarchy, delete it, or insert substructures. The functionality applies to the hierarchy, the language-dependent texts, and the articles.
Using the parameter HIERARCHY_DATA, the data for identification of a header record of an article hierarchy is transferred. This data consists of the hierarchy ID and the node. In addition, you have to set the indicator CHANGE for control of the functionality of the BAPI.
Here you can get the required relationship.

Material group hierarchy in SAP Retail

Hi Guru's;
I'm looking to load hierarchy of material group in BW.
In the SAP source system the used standard transaction WG21, WG22CLWM for managing retail material group hierarchy.
I suppose that from those transaction there is a BW hierarchy to recover this datas.
I found this datasource 0MATL_GROUP_LKLS_HIER but when i made a test in RSA3 i can't select any hierachy.
Why ? Is there something special for this hierarchy that i need to manage ?

Material Group Hierarchy Level 1 - Description

Hi,
We required Material Group Hierarchy Level 1(0RPA_WGH1) DESCRIPTION. we find data source 0MATL_GRP_1_TEXT to
get description. that standard data source created based on table TVM1T. We did find any data in that table. kindly guide me
how to acheive this.

Report on Material group hierarchy

Dear All,
As we are runnning the report for material group hierarchy, Material
hierarchy is not appering in any of the standard reports like MB51,MB5B
etc.We need to take the report based on material group hierarchy,
Is there any standard report to fetch the Material group Hierarchy,.
How and what configuration needs to be done for mateiral group hierarchy. Any steps.please let me know.

Hi ,
The material group hierarchy and product heirarchy is used in SD of ECC 6.0 . These can be created in Logistics General -> Material Master-> settings for Key fields--> Data Relevant to Sales and Distribution-> 1)
define product categories
2)Define material groups
But If you want to make of use of this in SRM ,I won't think it is available . I guess Probably this is avl for CRM .

I'm trying to create a Material Group Hierarchy (not a Product Hierarchy) in SAP ECC.
I've read some discussions about this theme:

but still I'm sure if it is possible to create a Material Group Hierarchy in SAP ECC or if it is only an IS Retail functionality.

MM Material group hierarchy ?

Hi,
I was unable to find any material group <u>hierarchy</u> in MM (ECC60).
Is there any functionality to do this ?
My customer do want to have a search function by hierarchy to find the right material group to use in ME51N, ME21N...

Loading Material group hierarchy

Hi all,
Can anybody help me in loading " 0MATL_GROUP_LKLS_HIER" datasource to BI. I am not seeing any stnd transfer rules for the same.How to load this hierarchy ?

Hi ,
Pls use BW07 & BW10 Tcodes for generating the Hierarchy Data Source in R/3.
If its a set of hierarchy you can use tcode BW07 to generate datasoucre, and for standard hierachies you must be having datasources already created.
Now just replicate datasoucre in BW side, and in infopckage selection you can get newly created hierarchy. Select and schedule it, it will be loaded into BW.
For External Hierarchy in BW , download to Flatfild and then upload.

In this step you create material groups.
You also have the option of using the same transaction to carry out the following activities:
Creating superior hierarchy levels
Assigning the superior hierarchy levels to a material group hierarchy
Assigning the base material group to the material group hierarchy
Assigning characteristics profiles below material group level
Requirements
Your R/3 System is configured as an SAP Retail System.
Activities
1. Create superior hierarchy levels
   You create hierarchy levels using transaction WG01 (creating
   material groups) via menu options MG environment --> Hierarchy
   level --> Create
2. Assign the superior hierarchy levels to a material group hierarchy
   You assign hierarchy levels to a hierarchy using transaction WG01
   (creating material groups) via menu options MG environment -->
   Hierarchy level --> Maint. MG hierarchy
3. Create material groups (base material groups) and then maintain the
   pre-defined materials (reference material/material group material)
4. Assign the base material group to the material group hierarchy
   You assign the material group to the hierarchy using transaction
   WG01 (creating material groups)
5. Assign characteristics profiles below material group level
   You assign characteristics profiles using transaction WG01
   (creating material groups)
Further notes
When creating material groups and then maintaining the pre-defined materials (reference material/material group material) you should be aware of the following.
As these materials can be created automatically using a minimum of data, you should follow this procedure with a check and possibly further maintenance, especially of plant-specific data. The material group reference material should be defined in as much detail as possible so as to keep the workload to a minimum when you have to create more materials for this material group.
All hierarchy allocations involving a material group (base material group) and a higher or lower hierarchy level can be carried out on the initial screen (there is no need to switch to the detail screen). All further hierarchy allocations can be defined top-down when you maintain material group hierarchies.
Only the material groups are transported automatically!

How many material groups?

The client i work for has more than 300 material groups? is this normal number of active material groups?

Just discuss with your client and reduce the count from 300 .
check in configuration for T.code OMSF for standard material group and if require create a new material group .

Building Material group extractor

Hello,
My client requires an extractor to generate the material group hierarchy in BW. Since no hierarchy in R3 is maintained, we will be required to build the hierarchy through coding. This we know how to do it. My problem is how to load it to BW. Do i need to create a generic extractor or can we do it through the same extractor as Material group and make use of EXIT_SAPLRSAP_004 to load it or should we load it through file. Also what should be the minimun data that we should provide to built the hierarchy.

Since hierarchy is not maintained in R3,
1. You directly create hierarchy manually for material group in BW.
2. You prepare file and load the hierarchy through file.

Import of material groups into hierarchy not possible (note 432339)

Dear All,
I am trying to replicate material groups (DNL_CUST_PROD1) from R3 system. Prior to this our SRM system configured as standalone and Material Hierarchy is already defined. When I am trying to replicate the material groups in SMQ2 I am receiving status as "sysfail" and further I am getting above message. In the message the OSS note also mentioned. In the OSS note they have given following solution
Error message "Import of material groups into hierarchy &1 not possible":
In transaction COMM_PRAPPLCAT, you specify that the hierarchy specified in the error message is to be used for application 'Purchasing' (02). This means that the material groups would be created in this hierarchy. Delete this setting in Transaction COMM_PRAPPLCAT. If hierarchy R3MATCLASS already exists, assign
hierarchy R3MATCLASS to application 'Purchasing'. Then the material groups are created in hierarchy R3MATCLASS. If you want to import the material groups into the hierarchy specified in the error message, you can also keep this hierarchy
assigned to application 'Purchasing' and deactivate the error message. Error message "Import of material types into hierarchy &1 not possible". You can do this in Customizing under 'Customer Relationship Management -> Master data -> Basic settings -> Define system message characteristics'.
My problem is I am not able to find out the path given in the OSS note ( i.e, Customer Relationship Management u2013 Master data) . Any one can help me in this regard ?

Product heirarchy vs material groups in sales view

Hi,
Can I make use of the material groups(5 in toatl in sales view1) to generate report for seeing the value/sale of any material instead of using product heirarchy ?
If I have created a 3 level heirarchy then how best I can use it to see in a report for any level.
Is there any standard report availble to track my sales/inventory needs based on product heirarchy ??
How can I track my purchases/open orders based on the employee resonsible for that material.i.e without having any HR module how can use the or create the staff of my company engaged in purchasing or for that matter selling also.
May be I can use Purchasing group for each employee.But then I need to use the same employee as Sales person.
How can this be achieved or any better option ??

Have you considered using the partner functions to do this.
Most organisations create a new partner type for saleperson (i.e. someone who earns the commision from the sale). This can automatically default if you have the correct master data settings, or can be keyed manually on the partner screen of the sales order. (ask about how to do this on the SD forum, I am sure that an SD expert can tell you the details on how to do this.
I definitely would NOT recommend considering using the Purchasing group, this is not a field to use for this purpose in any way.
The material group and material hierarchy are fine to use for reports on WHAT was sold, but not who by etc.

BW report by Material group

Hello BW Gurus,
I have a Quarterly report in BW, which i have to review each line and combine the sales for the same product . The initial report has 4000 products on the report. After I combine the products, there are 2238. I would like a way to streamline this process.
There are list of product that should be grouped as 1 for the purpose of this report. For Example see below

Is there are any ways other can creating a hierarchy in BW? I know even if we create a hierarchy based on these material the users has to notify me when items are updated in the material master that affects the groupings..
Is there a solution for this?

Is there a reason you cannot create a navigational attribute for the product group, and use that instead of the material ? We do that in our company. In fact most aggregate material focused reporting uses it, so we've actually added it directly to our data models to avoid navigational attribute performance issues.

You create Formula Columns in Data Model and display fields in Layout Model. Does "a new forum column" have a typo?
Searching Reports Builder Help on Formula Columns would find a lot info. Fro example,
To create or edit a formula column:
1     In the Data Model view, single-click in the tool palette, then:
n     To create a column within a group, click in the group at the position you want the column placed in the hierarchy.
n     To create a report-level column, click in an open area of the canvas region.
2     Double-click the formula column object to display the Property Palette.
3     Under the Placeholder/Formula node, double click the PL/SQL Formula property value field.
4     In the PL/SQL Editor, define the PL/SQL for the formula (e.g., SAL * 0.07).
