Recover from a failed Sound.load()

I've written a MP3 player for podcasts, and I am using the
Sound.load() to load the MP3 file from a URL. From time to time,
the download fails ... and an error occurs.
I am able to catch the error just fine ... but now what? How
do I restart the load? Or how do I recover from the failed
download?
Right now, I start the load, and also begin to play the sound
to the user ... so they can begin to listen. In some cases I have
seen the download of a 60 minute podcast fail at - maybe - 43:29.
So they are listening, and might be 10-15 minutes in ... I catch
the error ... and now what?
I can't seem to find any documentation on what to do at this
point ...

You could use a custom event. In your error handling code
dispatch your custom event, passing in something, like maybe the
path to file to be loaded, then try to reload. Everytime it fails
you will retry.

  • How to Recover from last failed execution by using exported scripts

I have exported a Data Services batch job to  unix scripts of job_batch.sh. The Enable Recovery option is selected when the job was exported. After I run the scripts (./job_batch.sh) and the job failed, I only can rerun it again using Recover-from-last-failed-execution option at Management Console.
Is it a way to rerun the job from last failed execution again from the scripts itself, not going through Management Console? Or have to rerun the scripts with any unix option to enable it to run from failed stage?
    Thank you

In our world a recovery is done manually, hence no automatism there. In fact, there is some code that checks if the last run was unsuccessful and only in that case the Management Consol allows to add the "recover from last failed execution point".
Having said that, adding the command line property -Cr manually always, does work as Manoy explained.

  • Urgent solution to this problem "Attempt to reset display driver and recover from timeout failed"

    Hi wonderful people at HP,
I would be glad if you can solve this problem in my system. I want this to be urgent enough because I am graduating by March 1st 2011 and I want many things to be completed on my system.
I have previously purchased warranty with hp for three times for tune out service, software and hardware help but nothing has been materialized, I am sorry to say but I just lost my money.
My system, from the time of purchase, had the same persistent problem of overheating and also heavy noise, I told this to several people of HP but they never seem to respond properly. In fact my friend had a similiar problem in DELL and they responded promptly and sent him a new computer system. I don't know what to do. It will be ok if my system can function for one more month. I WOULD BE GRATEFUL TO YOU IF YOU CAN SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.

    Re your 116 BSOD...
"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the Blue Screen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".
Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OS's like XP to crash.
As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.
If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.
If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.
Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.
Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.
If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.
I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps

  • How do I recover from a failed installition of driv

    Hi, I have a problem with a failed installation of the soundblaster Extigy on my Toshiba Satellite P00-88 notebook PC. The problem is that it has only partially installed on my system and the processes listed below are running at startup;
    RcMan.exe
    RCenter.exe
    Mediadet.exe
    CTNotify.exe
    CTsvcCDA.exe
I can't uninstall them as they don't show up in add/remove programs, but I can stop them running with msconfig and I can switch off the disc detector software, but I would rather get rid of them altogether. I've given up on installing the Extigy as it fails every time at 4% on the progress bar of the installation program with task manager reporting the installation wizard failing to respond, although it works fine on my desktop machine.
Would it be safe to make a backup of the registry, then search through it and delete all instances of creative? The sound card on the notebook is conexant, which is the reason for trying to install the Extigy to start with as it's total rubbish as a sound card, does it use any creative entries in the registry? I made a system restore point before installing the Extigy but it and previous other restore points don't work, reporting nothing changed on the system, even though the soundblaster installation events show up on the list after the restore point. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi jutapa thank's for pointing me to that piece of software, It seems to have done the trick! I use Process Explorer (a program by the same people), that's how I found which processes where related to Creative, I wonder why the "delete process" option isn't incorporated into that program? It would have saved me even posting here LOL.

  • BSOD "ATTEMPT TO RESET THE DISPLAY DRIVER AND RECOVER FROM TIMEOUT FAILED"

Have reinstalled many video card drivers- does not correct the situation.
How can it be determined if this is a hardware problem?
If the video card driver is disabled, is the video card dead or is it running from some crude driver in the bios?
    Thank you.

    Hello again @myk120,
Thank you for the updated information on your HP Pavilion Elite HPE-180t CTO Desktop PC. I am providing you with an HP Support document: Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7), which will walk you through the process of recovering the original drivers that came with your computer. As we know that these drivers worked when you got the machine they should resolve your current issue.
If however they do not I would suggest a backup of your personal information and a full factory recovery to put everything back to how it was when you first bought the computer. To backup your personal information and ensure that it is not lost I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 7), which will ensure your personal files are up to date.
***WARNING!! If you want to keep any emails or bookmarks/favorites you will want to back those up as well as I do not believe they are backed up in the HP Backup process.
Next, I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7), which will you through recovering your computer back to factory settings.
*** IMPORTANT - Your personal files such as libraries, personalization settings, user accounts, and desktop themes are permanently removed. As well the computer settings are returned to the defaults (the way it was when it came from the factory). All apps and software that were installed on the computer when it came from the factory are reinstalled, and their settings are reset to the defaults. Additionally, software, apps, programs, and everything that you have installed or saved on the computer are permanently removed.

  • [SOLVED] Arch Linux Boot from USB fails while loading kernel

I am attempting to get arch linux booting off my usb. I use cfdisk to create a /dev/sdb1 partition then use mkfs.ext4 /dev/sdb1, mount the usb, pacstrap it, use install-syslinux_update -iam, generate fstab and then attempt to boot from it.
The boot extracts the kernel but then complains that DEVICE is missing in the option APPEND root=DEVICE (in syslinux.cfg). I looked in /dev/disk (on the temporary filesystem shell), it showed my ssd and cd drive but not the usb. Does anyone know what could be causing the USB to not load in that particular section of the kernel?

Since you'll probably want to boot from different computers (portable USB system), you want to remove 'autodetect' from that line. This is the same as always booting the initramfs-linux-fallback.img image. To save some space, you could remove 'autodetect' from the configuration file, disable the fallback image in /etc/mkinitcpio.d/linux.preset  and delete initramfs-linux.img (otherwise, you'll get two identical images).
Of course, run mkinitcpio -P when you're done.

  • Recovering from a failed computer

I'm using Photoshop Elements 6.  My old Windows XP computer's motherboard failed but the hard drive from it is fine.  I am able to access it via a USB enclosure.  I bought a new computer running Windows 7 and have installed Photoshop Elements 6 on it.  I know the best way to move a catalog and photos from one computer to another with PS Elements is to to a PS backup on one computer and a PS restore on the new computer but that will not work in my case.  What files should I copy from my now external old hard disk to my new computer and where should I put them.  Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.
    Aloha,
    -Jack

You want to move all of your photos, so that they are in the exact same folder location as they were before the crashed mother board.
Then, you want to move your catalog file (*.psedb) from your old hard drive to the new hard drive, and then double-click on it.

  • How to recover from a failed job?

A job that I submitted on a manged cluster of three machines has just failed.
I have five parts fine, but the last part failed with Quicktime error -6667 after 42 hours!
Is there any way to recover the job - I have the 5 complete segments - without rerunning the whole job again?
As a side note, I find it incredible beyond belief, that the cluster controller just exits the whole job instead of resubmitting the failing segment to another machine - it makes the whole Compressor thing look more like a technology demo than a working product.
That being said, the quality of frame rate conversion and deinterlacing is exceptional.

  • Retrieving bookmarks from the files of recovered from a failed harddrive?

accidental duplicate (due to second request for confirmation I think)
    [ Sorry. Please remove.]

    1. The 'Favorites' folder you're referring to is the IE bookmarks, not Firefox ones. You can make use of it by putting it to similar location as it was on the new hard drive, and seeing them appear when you launch IE on the new machine.
    2. Since you seem to have messed with your current profile, please make a new one as described at [[Managing profiles]], and proceed with it.
    3. If step 1 succeeds, you can import bookmarks from the current installation of IE using the '''File''' -> '''Import''' menu. It's described here in detail: [[Importing favorites and other data from Internet Explorer]].
    4. Firefox stores the bookmarks in the [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles#How_to_find_your_profile Profile folder], '''places.sqlite''' file. If you find it on the old machine, you can just copy it over to the new profile and restart Firefox.

  • Recover an iMovie from a failed external drive?

Has anyone been able to get an entire iMovie recovered from a failed external Firewire drive? My LaCie just won't power up despite having its light come on, and having other external drives connected through it to my iMac and working fine.
I was about to do some backing up after finishing some edits on my latest iMovie, located on that drive. The edits were taking a longer time than usual, with spinning beach ball going on and on, so I decided to restart the Mac and see if that would speed things up. A restart resulted in a totally white screen for over 20 minutes, so I powered off with the switch, and powered on again with it a few minutes later. After three tries, including trying to boot from the installation disk, the iMac sprang to life again, and three of my external drives came on as usual, but not the La Cie that has my iPhotoLibraries and the iMovies I am working on. It is not a problem with power cords or the Firewire cables, as I swapped them out with the other drives, and everything works except this drive will not power up. Its light comes on, and the Firewire ports allow the other drive to come on, as this one is the one connected to the iMac, but the drive remains cold and quiet, just sits there with its blue light blinking.
I just need it to power on long enough to transfer my data to another drive.
I will settle for drive-recovery if that means I will get all my movies and photos back......anyone ever had to use a drive recovery service for this? If so, how did it work?
I do have backups for the photos, but not all of them as I don't usually backup every day. The movies will have to be recreated I can do this, it will just take lots of time......
not happy with this situation....any support/sympathy greatly appreciated!

sorry to contradict you, Bev, but the drive itself has no lights.. :

THIS is your drive with your precious data .. no blinks ...
ok, I'm a typically 'Tim Taylor/Home Improvement'-guy (incl. friends in hospital...), so maybe a daredevil about screwing things up/open (pun-taaaa). if you open the housing (usually 4 screws on bottom), you would see a power-supply, some small board for the interface electronics, a fan, some small board for some other electronics. and two cables: one with 4 cables (=power), one flat cable with ~20something wires (=data).. the drive is fixed with another four screws.. it is really dead easy, and you can not damage the drive itself, except you wear some angora and plastic sandals, to get some zillion of volts of static electricity into your fingertips ...
so, if you find a nice PC-guy, ask him to place the drive into another housing (usb or fw.. doesn't matter...).. for a pro, that is a 5min procedure.. I'm pretty sure, it will work! < fingers crossed > < throwing ash over shoulder > < murmering some Hun's incantaion >

  • Recover from failed migration

How would I recover from a failed migration if I have to go back to Netware? In the old days, I used TID 10055225, but that seems to be out of date. It would also be helpful in my test environment so I can start a new Transfer ID test. Thanks.

I'm getting ready to do another test, so I'll keep my eyes peeled for it. Some of the documentation is a bit confusing, eg, back up edir on the target server. Since I'm doing an ID transfer and the target does not have a replica installed, what would I be backing up?
Also, if anyone can point me to docs about doing a transfer id of cluster nodes, I'd appreciate it. I've found docs on migration and docs on rolling clusters, but that only seems to apply if I'm not doing an ID transfer.

  • CCM 8.6.1- Installation Failed. Restart install to recover from failure

    Hi All,
I am installing CCM 8.6.1 on an MCS7835I3 platform. The platform came with CCM 8.6.1 preloaded on the harddrive. During the installation linux detected some compenents like NIC, Raid, and USB.
then after checking some components i face below error
"The installtion has failed and must be restarted to recover from the faliure.
You may dump diagnostic information at this time to a USB storage key. Would you like to dump diagnostic information"
I am try to figure out what is causing this message.
    Pls help me!!

    Hi
It seems to me that your server did not begin the CUCM installation. If you already have pre-loaded CUCM media in the server hard disk then you should first check the boot sequence on the server. Make sure that the first option is the hard disk.
    Once confirmed, restart the server.
If you still face the issue, then i suggest that you install CUCM from CD.
Below is the installation document. Do check the server compatibility and hardware requirements.

  • Intel HD3000 graphics and sound drivers fail to load on Server 2008

I managed to install Windows Server 2008 x64 on a separate partition without Boot Camp, but I'm having issues with my drivers. Windows 7 drivers are compatible with Server 2008 in most cases. Since Boot Camp doesn't support Server editions I attempted to install the drivers myself, but I keep getting error 39 on my HD3000 graphics drivers. Went through multiple reboots, rollbacks, and driver reinstalls using both the official drivers and the Boot Camp drivers.
Is there a way to modify the Boot Camp driver install package to bypass the Windows 7 requirement? I tried to manually install the drivers from the Boot Camp folders (tried several variations of them as well) but I'm still not getting proper sound, graphics, or wifi. All my services are properly configured to enable them, and the device manager shows driver failed to load errors.
If people are able to get Windows 7 drivers installed that means there needs to be a way to do this with Server 2008 (not R2).
I need this to run natively, not virtualized.
Seems to me the easiest way to fix this would be to bypass the desktop-only limitations of Boot Camp, but I'm guessing there's no easy work around.
    . Why the restrictions?
    I'm running a MacBook Pro 8.1 (late 2011 release).
I tried using test mode but that failed to fix what I thought might be a driver signing issue.

IIRC, Apple doesn't expose the Intel embedded GPU to WIndows, only the discreet GPU.  If my memory is correct, that would explain why you can't install the drivers for hardware that WIndows doesn't see.

You have exhausted my knowledge on this subject. Heap space sounds of java versions, memory allocations, operating system and hardware considerations that I can not help you with remotely.
I have run the same command in a Linux VM that has 1 GB ram (quite small) and it runs as expected.
Only thought I have would be to - check permissions on the files and directories you are working in.
