Recovery of datafile which is in RECOVER state in NOARCHIVELOG mode

Hi,
i have following datafile in recover state
12 /oradata/ORADATA/undo_tbs.dbf OFFLINE
I tried to recover but getting following errors....
SQL> recover datafile 12;

Our database is not running in Archive mode, so we can't recover it.
We tried to drop it / change it into offline / online mode, but all failed. It remains in Recover state.
It gives ORA-01110 error.
Is there anyway to change the mode of this datafile or drop it.

Taking the datafile offline when the database is in NOARCHIVELOG mode

My question is when the database is in No Archive log mode i'm not able to take the datafile offline.
When i tried in my computer i have noticed fallowing.
case1:
SYS>alter database datafile 5 offline;
ERROR at line1;
ORA-01145:offline immediate disallowed unless media recovery enabled.
case 2:
SYS>alter database datafile 5 offline immediate;
ERROR at line 1;
ORA-00933:SQL command not properly ended
case3:
I have tried the command alter database datafile 6 offline drop; (in NOARCHIVELOG mode) and it is showing the same effect as alter database datafile 6 offline; ( in ARCHIVELOG mode).
*In the NOARCHIVELOG mode are we really dropping the datafile to take the datafile offline? Will you please tell me the effect of keyword drop.

Hi all. How to recover a database wich is in noarchivelog mode? B-)

I have 3 redolog groups (with two members in each, the second members are located on another drive ). When first redo log group was 1/2 full I took a full backup. Then there were 2 switches from first to second and from second to third. Now the currnet redolog group - 3 (just started). At this point we faced media failer. How to roll forward changes using backup + online redologs?

Restore your database cold backup (excluding redo logs).
Then issue this command :
RECOVER DATABASE USING BACKUP CONTROLFILE
provide the names of the last ACTIVE / CURRENT Redo Logs in the database when Oracle prompts for an ArchiveLog.
When Oracle has finished recovery to a consistent point in time, it will return to the command prompt without any error.
Now issue this command :
ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS
You would have a Complete Recovery.
This is provided that Oracle had NOT cycled through all the Online Redo Logs since the time when the Cold Backup was taken. (If Oracle had cycled through all the Online Redo Logs, it would have overwrriten the oldest log because it wasn't in ArchiveLog mode).

I don't mean to be rude, but the statement that "There is no difference in both the commands" is facile in the extreme. Sounds like more off-the-cuff instant advice than the considered thoughts of someone who's actually bothered to try both commands out.
The "alter database recover..." command is a disaster waiting to happen and should never be used by anyone who actually wants to achieve a successful database recovery. It has the effect of suppressing most of the interactive dialogue you get when you submit the shorter "recover..." command, and indeed causes spurious errors to be displayed because the non-interactive recovery process gets it wrong.
For example, here's me recovering my database using the "alter database" syntax:
SQL> alter database open;
alter database open

What's difficult to convey in mere text, however, is that at the end of that output, the thing just sits there, and you've no idea what on Earth is happening on the database. The text tells you it's making a suggestion, but there's no indication of how you accept the suggestion, of what's happening when you do accept it or where anything is up to.
I've interrupted one of those once (fortunately only in a training room) and lost the entire database as a result (because a half-complete, interrupted recovery is worse than no recovery at all).
Compare that with the plain "recover..." syntax example:

Every time a new log is required, a new prompt is given. You can cleanly cancel at any time by typing 'cancel'. You are kept informed throughout and are in charge throughout.
Anyone that uses "alter database" syntax during a recovery is, therefore, either brave or foolhardy. In either case, there is a very profound difference between the two.
Your parting shot that 'alter database' is a SQL command and 'recover' can be an RMAN command misses the point by a wide mile, too. RMAN can issue pretty much any piece of SQL you like, so long as you wrap it in the SQL command:
RMAN> sql 'alter database recover datafile 4';

The distinction you seek to draw between 'SQL commands' and 'RMAN commands' is false in this case, in other words.

How to move a DB in a recovering state from one server to another?

I have a server with many DBs in a "recovering" state (log shipping secondary). There is a hardware failure and the server needs to be recreated.
How do I keep the DBs so that I'll be able to attach them to the new server?
I tried to backup the DBs but I get this message:
Msg 927, Level 14, State 2, Line 2
Database 'DBName' cannot be opened. It is in the middle of a restore.
I can't bring fresh backups from the main site as the sites are far from each other and moving the backups will be too expensive.

You can run recovery on current log shipping secondary database to bring it online as Suggested by Neha. Now take differential backup from primary and restore it on secondary to recreate logshipping.Diff backup would be less in size and would take less time
to transfer.
Since you had hardware failure I guess it would be good option to recreate Logshipping what was extent of hardware failure ? .Because since hardware was corrupt any files residing on it might as well be damaged.Take a full backup of primary database and

Help! -Recovery media and which HDD fits?-

Recently went to my local Geek Sqaud "best buy" and had it checked out. What my error was (Recovery) 0xc00000f " PC needs to be repaired" geek squad said it was a hardrive issue, thus needing it to be replaced. They told me I needed "HP recovery media" and an HDD. Matter in fact I don't know which "Recovery media" nor which HDD I need for my notebook. If anyone can help please let me know asap on what I can do.
Update: I've checked the prices for recovery medias, but how about the HDD??
One more thing if I'm trying to recover the laptop that was running 8.1, do I buy the recovery media for 8.1 ??

Hi,
a delivery suspension due to non-payment can just be released via an incoming payment.
You could also manually do this be setting the end date of the suspension, but I would not advise that. As I currently do not have system to check I'm not sure whether you could use ISM_SALES_ORDER_CHANGE, but you can try via the where-used list of structure JKSI_SUSPEND which needs to be used in this case.

Can we delete an account which is in provisioning state

I am trainee in OIM .........I am trying to delete the user's account from identity console(as 'xelsysadm') which is in provisioning state. when i click on remove accounts it is showing operation successfully completed. But i am getting the account again in my console.........
Is there any specific process to delete user's accounts.........Please let me know .......

Delete means soft delete and the account will be present with Revoked status.
till oim11gr1 we didn't have this feature to revoke a account having Provisioning status. But, yes R2 has this feature to revoke a account with Provisioning status.

IDM server goes into recovered state

Hi everybody,
When I install a second IDM server (on another machine) that shares the same Oracle repository as the first one, I notice that the first server goes from the "active" state to the "recovered" state. This is seen under the Configuration->Servers tab.
Any ideas why this happens?

Urgent! We have a PDB currently in mount stage after restoring and recovering from backup. Whenever I tried to open it or recover data file, I keep getting this error message:

The CDB and PDB both are in noarchivelog modes.
