Redirect Loop on ApEx Application Builder Timeout

Hi Folks,
We are experiencing an annoying issue on all of our Apex instances for those using the Application Builder. When a developer's session times out, the web server redirects in a loop. This is the output from the Apache log:

Is there a workaround for this? I can't seem to find anyone else experiencing the same issue.
Best Regards, and thanks in advance.

I tried with Turning Off Cookies Used to Populate the Login Form as mentioned at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23903_01/doc/doc.41/e21678/adm_mg_service_set.htm#sthref237.
Instance administrators can control if a convenience cookie is sent to a user's computer whenever a developer or administrator logs in to a workspace from the Application Express Login page.
If Set Workspace Cookie option is set to Yes, Oracle Application Express sends a persistent cookie that:
combines the last used workspace name and user name
has a lifetime of six months
is read to populate the Application Express Workspace Login form (but not the Oracle Application Express Administration Services Login form)
To turn off cookies used to populate the login form:
Log in to Oracle Application Express Administration Services. See "Logging In To Oracle Application Express Administration Services".
Click Manage Instance.
Under Instance Settings, click Security.
Locate the Security section.
For Set Workspace Cookie, select No.
Click Apply Changes.
And it seems to have resolved the issue.
Thanks,
Mehabub

  • Problem with logging in to apex application builder listener

I have problem with my settings and am posting this in hope that someone else out there had similar problem and solved it!
I am trying to use reverseproxy to access to our db through apex listener.
It's been all set-up and I can login to the application it self either through proxy or no proxy using the listener.
But when I try to login to apex application builder I cannot do it through proxy(with no proxy, it works).
It just refreshes the login page when I click login....
I tried to upgrade the listener to the latest v1.1(using 1.0.2) but it causes my tomcat to crash...
So solution i am looking for is how to make logging in work through proxy..
In the firebug it is showing that below and few other request status as 302 moved temporariry
    http://myserver:8080/testsin/apex/wwv_flow.accept
Where as with no proxy it is saying Found.....
    Any thoughts??
    Thanks
    Sin K

    Hello Sin K,
so proxy and Tomcat are located on different machines as well? Is the proxy able to commuicate with the Tomcat on the configured internal ports and is the proxy able to lookup the hostname you configured for the Tomcat?
For the connector, the proxyName and proxyPort should be the parameters the client uses to call APEX. So if your clients should call via http://proxyserver:8080/testsin/apex the settings would be
    proxyName=proxyserver
proxyPort=8080Reason for this is that applications (e.g. the APEX Listener) generate there URL references with these parameters.
But does your proxy actually serve on port 8080? And is that port accessible by clients? Do clients accept cookies from that server?
In my case, there is only one 302 which redirects to http://host:port/apex/f?p=4500:1000:sessionid which is correct.
If you look into your first post request in firebug, what's in the request header?

  • Application builder timeout

    Hi
Everytime i try to make a change in the application builder the browser timesout.
Does anybody know why this might be happening?
    Thanks in advance

How do you access APEX? Apache with mod_plsql/EPG/APEX Listener?
If you use Apache with mod_plsql, have a look at your error.log file it might contain additional information why your submit fails.

  • Domain redirecting to an apex application and page

    Hi,
Sorry if this thread has been posted before but I did a search on the forum and couldn't find any answers.
Basically I've set up a new domain name and I've got an installation of Oracle Apex running. I want this domain name to be redirected to my application and 'home' page when the user types my domain name into their browser.
I've seen examples of how this is done in this forum using virtualhost in the http conf files for standalone versions of htmldb, but not found any info on how to do it in APEX (since these files are installed for apex).
Is it possible to perform this type of domain redirect in apex??
I'm using Oracle Apex version 2.01.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Kev

    Kev,
When you say ApEx...do you mean ApEx or do you mean XE?
You can use the same method shown for a virtualhost section in the main section of your Apache configuration. The apache directives are valid both inside and outside of a virtualhost section.

  • Application Builder: What is the significance/function of "page sequence"?

Because we are always pressed for time, I have developed the nasty habit of glossing over things that may be opaque to me, with the mental reservation that I will re-visit the issue "when things calm down".
One of those opaque things is the function, significance, or use of "sequence" in the context of APEX Application Builder and application pages.
I am working through the Oracle-By-Example application labeled OBE_PROJECTS. I have created the Master-Detail form, but it has not come out as expected. According to the instructions, when I created the page, I designated the home page as its parent. Yet, when I run the application, the icon for the master-detail form does not appear.
I assume that I've fat fingered something when I built the page and attempt to correct it. I think that the answer will lie in the task "Reparenting page hierarchy". When I look at the "Create/Edit Breadcrumb Entry page", I see in the "Entry" region, that the Parent Entry is, indeed, correct ... that is "Home (Page 1)". On the other hand, the text box labeled "Sequence" is set to "10". And this is the same value as the Home Page itself. Can that be correct? Shouldn't my Master-Detail page have a sequence number subordinate to the Home Page?
    Any help/elucidation will be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Gus

    Varad,
I hadn't gotten that far yet. I'm still following OBE script and accessing the page from the "Run Page" icon in application builder.
The issue itself, pages not showing up, is solved for me. I had anticipated that simply declaring the parent of Master-Detail page to be home page would automagically make those objects appear on the home page.
Slogging through the Oracle By Example, I learn that one must actually edit the home page to have them appear (how barbaric!)
But, the question of exactly what "page sequence" means and how it's supposed to be used is still there.
    Thanks for the Response,
    Gus

  • CAN'T LOG IN APEX APPLICATION

Hi, I am working with apex 3.2, when I try to login to the application it immediately shows Please contact the administrator. . I am no expert, the first thing that I check was the http on the Data Base Server, It is on maintenance state, but in other application the http service is also maintenance and the application is running, so I don't think this is the cause.
Also check the data base schema and look at the Apex Administrator page and don't see anything wrong.
I hope that someone can give some ideas to keep checking and find the error.
    Thanks.

So it sounds like you can login the Apex application builder but not an application that you've built/deployed. If this is the case I would start looking at either the authentication scheme or the user account settings if your using the Apex authentication.
Perhaps you could recreate the problem and post a screenshot somewhere of the error page that you see (you can't post images here on the forum)?

  • APPLICATION BUILDER Related :creaate txtfile based on input argument.

(s1) In database package (PL/SQL), i witten the package P1 to pass the aggument as a binary file alongwith complete path and DLL argument file and generate the txt file and finally it create table dynamic table "table1" wirh dynamic columns and data inserted in to table "table1"
    step S1 is completed
Q : in APEX : i want to use this package P1 (from S1) and pass the argument file alongwith complete path using file browser (already availble in apex application builder). Please help me how to start so that just 1 select the binary file using file browser and DLL argument using text item from any page (like :p1_dll) and display the data from table1 in report region or sql report

    >
Welcome to the forum: please read the FAQ and forum sticky threads (if you haven't done so already), and update your profile with a real handle instead of "979467".
When you have a problem you'll get a faster, more effective response by including as much relevant information as possible upfront. This should include:
    <li>Full APEX version
    <li>Full DB/version/edition/host OS
<li>Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)
    <li>Browser(s) and version(s) used
    <li>Theme
    <li>Template(s)
<li>Region/item type(s) (making particular distinction as to whether a "report" is a standard report, an interactive report, or in fact an "updateable report" (i.e. a tabular form)
With APEX we're also fortunate to have a great resource in apex.oracle.com where we can reproduce and share problems. Reproducing things there is the best way to troubleshoot most issues, especially those relating to layout and visual formatting. If you expect a detailed answer then it's appropriate for you to take on a significant part of the effort by getting as far as possible with an example of the problem on apex.oracle.com before asking for assistance with specific issues, which we can then see at first hand
(s1) In database package (PL/SQL), i witten the package P1 to pass the aggument as a binary file alongwith complete path and DLL argument file and generate the txt file and finally it create table dynamic table "table1" wirh dynamic columns and data inserted in to table "table1" What are "binary file" and" DLL argument file"? What do they have to do with Oracle, PL/SQL and APEX? What "txt file"? "Dynamic" tables, columns and data is usually a warning sign...
Q : in APEX : i want to use this package P1 (from S1) and pass the argument file alongwith complete path using file browser (already availble in apex application builder). As has been noted in many previous threads on this topic:
    >
For security/privacy reasons recent versions of browsers by default do not send local file path information from File Browse items to the server, nor expose the file path in the control's JavaScript methods. Firefox, Safari and Chrome only provide the filename. IE6 & IE7 still yield the path in Windows format. IE8+ and Opera have adopted an irritating approach of replacing the path with a wholly imaginary "C:\fakepath\"—and this monstrosity has sadly had to be enshrined in the HTML5 spec...
Changing IE's security config setting "Include local directory path when uploading files" enables the path to be exposed in IE, but unless you're working in an intranet environment where: IE is the only browser used; it's possible to make remote changes to this setting on every desktop; and this won't break/expose anything else, then trying to achieve this is pointless.

Basically you can't get local file path information from a current browser in its standard configuration.

  • Documentation for Online Store or any other Apex application?

    Hi!
I'm trying to understand Apex "Online Store" sample Packaged Application
    dowloaded from
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/packaged_apps/packaged_apps.html
After having spent several days trying to "decode" this Application,
    with some moderate success,
I decided to ask if there is some documentation/explanation of this Application,
or alternatively if you could point me
to some other well documented and explained Apex Application,
    preferably with "online store" features.
I'm a newcomer to Apex, PL/SQL, and the rest of Oracle culture.
I've studied manuals and tutorials such as
    - Apex 2 Day + Application Express Developer’s Guide
    - Apex Advanced Tutorials
    - Apex Application Builder User’s Guide
    - Database 2 Day Developer's Guide
    Thank you very much,
    Marios

Yes, I did (turning off and then on again is a way of life for any windows user!). Actually, through a process of trial and error I have fixed the problem although I'm not very comfortable with the fix. For some reason, the OS X firewall is to blame. By relaxing the firewall settings to their most lenient, the iTunes store is now fully accessible via iTunes, and so is the whole of the apple website. Another added side effect has been that general web browsing is now lightning fast.
I'm therefore left with the (temporary) conclusion that my iMac's internal firewall is only capable of blocking access to the web resources of the people who created it, and slowing my web browser to a crawl.

  • E-Business to Apex Authentication Problem - Redirection Loop?

    Hi Folks,
I have a couple of EBS (11i) environments which successfully launch Apex Functions using the whitepaper delivered from Cabot Consulting (Extending Oracle Applications). I have created a new responsibility, menu and function on our live environment today which does exactly what the whitepaper suggests:
    1. Send a cookie to the browser with Username and a generated hash.
    2. Apex authentication checks for this cookie and if it does not exist, displays a login page.
    3. IF the cookie exists, it takes the username and validates the hash, redirecting then to Page 1 of my application.
However, I have found that the first time the EBS function is clicked, Firefox throws a "Redirect Loop Error", Internet Explorer instead gives an unhelpful 404 error. If I click my back button to get back into Oracle Applications and click the function again, this time it works.
I can't release this to my userbase if there is a chance of redirect issues!
Has anyone had experience of this and is there a verified solution to resolve the issue? I am happy to post whichever code you wish.
    Many thanks,
    Pete

    Hi Scott,
Your suggestion answered my question first time. My login page was not public for some reason!
I've changed this now and kerching, my applications all work a breeze!
    Fantastic - so simple :-)
    Many thanks.
Srini - thanks for the suggestion, I've read every bit of EBS integration I could find so this is a bit of an RTFM!

  • Remove Application Builder while creating  workspace in Apex

    hi,
am using apex in 11g database,am creating a workspace but it contain application Builder,Sql Workshop and Utilities..
My objective is i want only sql workshop no need Application builder and utilities while creating workspace in Oracle Apex.
    guide me
    regards
    apex

Ummm... OK. But why? If you only need a SQL tool why not use SQLDeveloper or some other tool? Is it that you want a web browser interface?
It would be very unwise to try to remove the applications you mention from the apex installation. This is probably possible but potentially very risky as the stability of your apex installation is concerned.
You might want to try taking a CSS approach and hide all the stuff you don't want to see via a custom CSS file that you could put in your installation.
    Earl
P.S. If you're going to ask how to do this then it's probably not something you're ready to do.

  • JSF Web Application - endless redirecting loop

I've created a simple JSF WebApplication, just one page, one static text. When I deploy it to the bundled server, everything is OK. When I deploy it to a remote server, that I have access to (Sun Java System Application Server Enterprise Edition 8.1_02), and I browse to its URL (http://server:port//Webapplication), the browser shows me an error. IE just displays Page cannot be displayed error, Firefox tells me, that the app. ended up in a redirection loop.

  • Newly deployed apex application - very slow response time reported.

Hi, we just deployed an APEX application on January 4th. It is used up and down the east coast to track commercially caught fish. There are currently about 375 users. Most are accessing via cable or dsl. Many are complaining of speed issues. Is there something that can be done locally on their machines to help.
The application is complex and often must process through loops of data depending on the port, species, state reqs. Each of the queries has been run through the db tool that examines how optimal they are, and all run within seconds.
Since the system is new, we are concerned that people will become frustrated and stop using it. ANy suggestions are appreciated. It was a 2yr project and had been in a test environment for 6 months.
    thanks, Karen

What I would suggest is, the agents could try pinging the server that you are hosting the apps on, to see how long the ping takes to return. It maybe that the server is producing the pages fine, but the traffic is getting jammed on the way to the port agent..
Just as an example, there have been severe issues with using Oracle's hosted instance of apex in the past 6-9 months. It's not an always occurrence, but for some folks it takes FOREVER to load the applications builder or even pages in the builder. The database server is performing fine, but the app server seems to be having issues, from what I gathered in one of the last messages from Oracle on the subject..
You could try going outside your building and accessing your app in a similar fashion that your customers do..
    Thank you,
