RedZone channel deactivate​d - FCC violation?

I have the FIOS Ultimate HD plan which includes the NFL RedZone channel.  I have been receiving the RedZone channel without problem since November, 2011.
Sometime between 8pm on Sept 22, 2013 and 1pm on Sept 29, 2013, Verizon deactivated the RedZone channel at my home.  Yesterday, Sept 29, I was on the phone with cusomer support for 2 hours (mostly on hold) trying to resolve this problem.  Eventually I was told that Verizon can not provide the RedZone to me with my hardware setup.  I've had no change in hardware since Novemeber 2011.
Verizon says the culprit is my Tivo and their CableCard  and that they can no longer allow RedZone through TIVOs with CableCards.  I believe this is a violation of FCC Rule 76.1205(b)(5) and intend to file a complaint.
Has anyone else experienced this same issue recently?

    I am using CISCO AIRONET 802.11a/b/g WIRELESS ADAPTER. This problem can occur due to the following reasons.
    (1) Do I need to set any region settings at Adapter?
    (2) Does adapter firmware depends upon
    country? How do I check the adapter firware?
    (3) Is there anything wrong with adapter vendor driver? Do I need to set anything in driver level for supporting JAPAN channels.
    Anyone please help me to identify and resolve the above problem.

    What channels are available? The 802.11b standard defines a total of 14 frequency channels. The FCC allows channels 1 through 11 within the U.S.; whereas, most of Europe can use channels 1 through 13. In Japan, you have only one choice: channel 14.
    An important concept to note regarding channel assignments is that the channel actually represents the center frequency that the transceiver within the radio and access point uses (e.g., 2.412 GHz for channel 1 and 2.417 GHz for channel 2). There is only 5 MHz separation between the cente frequencies, and an 802.11b signal occupies approximately 30 MHz of the frequency spectrum. The signal falls within about 15 MHz of each side of the center frequency. As a result, an 802.11b signal overlaps with several adjacent channel frequencies. This leaves you with only three channels (channels 1, 6, and 11 for the U.S.) that you can use without causing interference between access points.

  • FCC from TXT to XML

    Hello Guys,
    I have a scenario where I would need to convert a plain text file with 14 columns into an XML file with only the first and tenth column from the text file.
    This XML file would be sent to one receiver.
    I also need to send the same text file to another receiver as text file (without any conversion).
    I know that the easiest way to get this done is to ,
    Use a FCC in Sender channel to convert the 14 Column text file to a 14 column XML file.
    Use a Message map to consider only 2 fields out of the 14 fields.
    Use one receiver channel to get the XML with 2 fields.
    Use second Receiver channel with FCC to reconvert the 14 column XML to 14 Column plain text file.
    However, I am trying to avoid any ESR objects and trying the following approach
    1. Use a Sender channel without any FCC to poll the 14 Column text file.
    2. Send this file directly to First and Second receiver channel
    3  Use a MessageTransformationBean in the first to convert the flat file to XML.(SimplePlain2XML)
    But the only issue I face here is that I am unable to restrict the XML to have only 2 columns in it. I get all the 14 columns in the XML.
    Is there a way to restrict the XML to contain pnly the desired fields during the plain to XML conversion in the module ?

    you can create the 2 interfacess for this case.
    1 ) CSV(FCC) to XML - please map the first field and last field in to the target structure
    2) with out mapping you need to create the different scenario to send same text file to another folder.

  • NFL Redzone coming up "Subscription Required"

     First off I have no stb's. I only have a cablecard.When I go to channel 835 it brings up Subcription required there is no music or splash screen. I've contacted support through chat and it must have been at least 2 hours of sending back and forth from billing and tech departments. One guy told me I only get the Online Redzone and the tv cost $55. The second guy tried to add some "coding" to my account but said it was unavailable. The next told me it was because it was off season and I try to explain that I should still get the splash screen with music.
    He transfered to another guy who resent the activation sugnals to the cablecard which didn't work.That guy sent me to another guy that told me I needed to check the box for redzone at the ordering process (Which is not there btw) so then he tried to add it to the account and couldn't get it to work.He sent to another guy who said he wrote a note on my account that read "NOTE TO BILLING: YOU MUST WRITE RECAP ORDER TO ADD ON ZERO RATED RED ZONE"Then he sent me to another dude asked me all the same stuff and I explain to him the process I was through he then set up a conference chat with someon from tech.
    The tech guy told me to click on the banner page which is not there because I dont have a stb I have a cablecard. So he got his floor supervisor to call my cel phone and assure me they are working on the problem. The chat id number was {edited for privacy}
    I just want this problem fixed. I dont want to tune in the first day and not be able to watch the games.All in all the techs were very diligent in trying to fix it. Well all except one guy named Keith who was  a complete and {please keep your posts courteous}

    Let me start by saying I have had NFL RedZone for 2 years now and it worked just fine until 2 weeks ago.  I also must indicate that I have a CableCard and do not have any other Set top boxes.  I thus cannot go to channel 335 or 835 and click ok to activate these channels.  I tried working with tech support last week for over an hour.  I tried again today for over an hour at which point the y forwarded me to billing for another hour at which point they told me they would call back.  Billing eventually called back a few hours later and left no message.  The billing person then emailed me the same suggestion she had given me while I was working with her and had been given to me 3 times earlier,  I cannot click ok on channel 335 or 835 as I do not have a set top box.  From what I have read Verizon is now periodically deactivating the NFL RedZone channel so they can reduce the fees paid to the NFL.  I watch this channel frequently and is one of the main reasons I have the Verizon Ultimate HD channel.  It has now been 2 weeks and the one channel in this package that I watch still does not work.  Can someone please fix this issue for me and activate this channel on my account by adding the :Zero Rated NFL Red Zone" to my account. I don't see how a poor design on Verizon's part should prevent me from getting the channels I am paying for and watch regularly.  Let me also remind you that I have been a loyal Verizon subscriber for over 7 years.

    "If you only have cable cards (or if the activation from the stb fails), you need to call orders and ask for the Zero Rated NFL Red Zone for Ultimate HD to be added. If the person you get doesn't know anything about it, ask for a supervisor. I got that added to my account, and now all my tivos show the red zone splash screen on ch 835/335. As the Zero Rated part of that name implies, it is not an additional cost. I suspect it's a way to track those that actually use the channel in order to then pay the NFL less, rather than having to report everyone who subscribes to Ultimate HD as a subscriber to the Red Zone."
    Please let me know when this issue is resolved.  Let me also indicate that this channel is in a package I pay for since this seems to come up with each new person I speak to.

  • NFL Redzone = NOT WORKING AGAIN?

    Is NFL Redzone not working again this week?? Last week it took over 2 hours to finally work, and this week it looks like the same problem. I tried to activate it through my remote, but it comes up with an error messaging saying unable to process your request. And of course when I call, I'm hold for 10 mins like usual. HELP

    The widget must be active for you to receive alerts. Next week, while RedZone is broadcasting, make sure you launch the FiOS Football Widget and remain in the widget to receive alerts.
    While in the widget, press the FiOS TV button (LIVE TV on some remotes) to toggle between full-screen and widget modes, and switch to your game by inputting the channel number for your game. While in widget mode, or while an alert is on screen, pressing C will take you to the NFL RedZone channel, however to get back to your game, you must input the appropriate channel number (the LAST button will not work--Verizon PLZFIX!!!)
    You will not be able to use the Guide, Menu or Info screens without exiting the widget. If you exit the widget (either by pressing Exit or by attempting to access the Guide, Info or Menu screens) you will no longer receive alerts,

  • NFL Mobile Redzone should be included if you are already paying for Redzone through your cable provider.

    Just a thought..... If your paying for Redzone on a cable provider, shouldn't you get Redzone for free through your mobile device.?...

    it would be nice, but they are separate contracts. verizon has a contract to provide the nfl app (which also gives you nfl network and the full games it covers, besides just the redzone channel) for a fee, and your cable company has a contract to provide just the redzone channel for a fee. NOW.....if your cable company has an app that allows you to watch your cable channels on your mobile device, then it could be done that way (cox cable does, but only for idevices so far).

  • Question about Redzone

    This is my first year with Redzone.  What i was shooting for was to watch the Redskin game on one channel and switch to the redzone to catch up on the other games during the commercials, then after the Redskin game was over i would mostly watch the redzone channel until the end.  To be able to switch back and forth while keeping my place i figured out if i record both it will let me pause and do a last channel to resume where i left off.  
    Everything worked until the end of the day at 7pm the recording stopped but i missed the end of a couple of games.  Does the Redzone always stop at 7pm on the dot?  Even if there are games going on?  It wouldn't let me record any longer than 6hours for one recording, so i had 1-7 and i selected 7-8 after it, but that recorded nothing.  

    NFL RedZone is contractually obligated to stop broadcasting at 8pm ET [7pm CT] [5pm PT] even if there are games still in progress. NBC has exclusive NFL TV rights for Sunday prime-time, so other outlets must stop showing NFL game programming at 8pm ET on the dot, with the exception that CBS and Fox can wrap up their local games in progress.
    That said, last week RedZone was able to show all games to their conclusion. The last game concluded at around 7:57pm ET. Your NFL RedZone recording probably has the final minutes of the games that you may have missed on Sunday.

  • My Multi Room DVR has stopped working on ONE BOX ONLY

    I have spent roughly 1 1/2 hours on the phone with tech support and would rather not continue that.  I have an 3 HD STB's in my house and 1 HD DVR.  For as long as I have had the service all the boxes could access the multi room dvr.  On Sunday I could not get the RedZone channel to work on the TV in my living room.  After numerous resets and reprogramming the redzone finally came back.  However, the STB could not access the MRDVR.  So I called FiOS again and they determined the box needed to be replaced.  I received the new box today, hooked it up, and everything is working EXCEPT the multi room DVR feature!
    Is there any way to fix this without going through numerous resets on the phone with FiOS tech support?

    My scenario is Flat File to Fixed Length File.
    Mapping : Based on the condition Reciever node need to generated , In some cases it wont generate any node ( No data )
    Receiver Communication channel :  I used FCC for Fixed length Format.
    Problem : When i am generatingf the receiver file with some data it executes. But when i am generating the file with no data , it fails in the receiver comminication channel.
    Could not process due to error: java.lang.Exception: Exception in XML Parser (format problem?):'java.lang.Exception: Message processing failed in XML parser: 'Conversion configuration error: Unknown structure 'ns0:Message1' found in document', probably configuration error in file adapter (XML parser error)'
    I need the receiver file to generate with 0 bytes when there is empty data.
    can any one help on this.

    What happens in this case is, when you send a blank file to PI it processes but once it went to Receiver Adapter, it looks out for some fields because of the FCC settings. So it throws an error/exception because some fields are expected and it is not coming. Because of that you getting below exception.
    Secondly, Once you send data with few values or fields it will process in Receiver file adapter FCC and if there is some error it throws error. this is why you getting exception in moni, and other places.

      Use StrictXml2PlainBean to convert the file in .csv format.The same like FCC paramters .

  • Verizon Ripoff Machine

    We have had a plan that included five phone numbers. Three members of our plan wanted to create their own plan with additional features.
    I called a Verizon representative on our about March 14, 2011, to receive instructions on how to let our three members create their own, new plan. The Verizon representative had me, the account owner, provide authorization for the specific numbers to be deleted from my account and to create their own plan and account.
    The representative indicated that the best way for this to happen is on the first day of the billing cycle, which he said would be March 29. My son David (one of the members of the new plan) called Verizon yesterday (March 29) to create the new plan. He was told by a Verizon representative that they were having trouble extricating the three lines from the existing plan and placing them into a new plan, and that they would call him back.
    Today, March 30, my David contact Verizon and they indicated that today they were able to remove the three lines from my plan and place them in a new plan under David's name. I have checked me account and I find that the three lines are no longer listed.
    I then notice that I have been billed for $144.65, due April 23, 2011. The cost of two phones with 1400 minutes should have been about $80, plus taxes. I called Verizon to contest the excess charge.
    The first Verizon agent was rigid and non-negociable. I was told that the change of the phone lines was made to late to avoid this month's charges. She said that since the lines had been removed, I would receive a credit AFTER I PAY THE $144.65 BILL. I protested, without success.
    I asked for the call to be escalated, and was told the same thing. I explained that we follow instructions of the Verizon agent on March 14, but the agent today said that we were given bad information. That in order to avoid being billed for this coming month, the changes would have to be made BEFORE the new billing cycle began (which contradicts what the Verizon agent told me on March 14).
    I asked for the call to be escalated again, and was told "Well, you can speak to one of my peers."

    First, don't single out Verizon, ALL the carriers are charging that amount. And if you do the math, $5 a month for 12 months is $60 so Comcast subscribers are actually paying more.
    I am a huge football fan but personally I could care less about this channel. I don't need to see every single score and if I want highlights of the great ones I'll just watch ESPN for free.

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1 error-disable alert

    We have a cisco PI 2.1 managing switches and a lot of switchports have BPDUGuard enabled. When occur error-disable , request send email notification to administrator .
    By default, when a port of a switch goes down, the Prime generates alarm for that. (this is a problem, because every laptop disconnection will generate alarm for administrator)
    Can i change the alert just for error-disable and how to ?

    A bad network interface card (NIC) card (with physical problems or driver problems)
    A port duplex misconfiguration
    A port duplex misconfiguration is a common cause of the errors because of failures to negotiate the speed and duplex properly between two directly connected devices (for example, a NIC that connects to a switch). Only half-duplex connections should ever have collisions in a LAN. Because of the carrier sense multiple access (CSMA) nature of Ethernet, collisions are normal for half duplex, as long as the collisions do not exceed a small percentage of traffic.
    There are various reasons for the interface to go into errdisable. The reason can be:
    Duplex mismatch
    Port channel misconfiguration

    It's now free if you have a more everything or premium account with verizon. this includes monday night, sunday night, thursday night, and local sunday games. it also includes nfl network. you can now get the redzone channel for $1.99/month. all of this used to cost $5/month. i'm only posting this because FOOTBALL!

    Have you tried uninstalling, then reinstalling, the NFL Mobile app? When I installed it, it automatically detected my account information and added premium accordingly. Keep in mind, this only applies to those on a shared data plan.

    Verizon is not going to carry MSNBC-HD (at least not in the near future). Because of the cablevision exclusive contract where no other cable provider can carry MSNBC (SD or HD either) in area's serviced by cablevision, Verizon is not going to carry the HD portion of the channel until the FCC overrules the cablevision monopoly. so for now. No one on verizon will be getting MSNBC-HD.

     I use PI to monitor 1 switch and 1 firewall . When a link up/down on switch , PI immediately sends an email alert .
    But when a link up/down on FW , PI not send any email alert . PI knows link up/down on a FW is a critical alarm ( it's show up on "Alarm Browser") , but not send email.
    I enable all SNMP trap on FW , i tested that event on SolarWinds and it immediately sends an email alert . So there is no problem about FW config
