Reference Article - Merchandise Hierarchy assignment

I cannot find how to assign a Reference Article to a higher level node of the Merchandise Hierarchy. The docmentation mentions in several places that this assignment is possible, but I can only see how to assign these articles at the lowest level.
I would appreciate any assistance you can offer,

Hi Chris,
as far as I know, you can only assign a reference article at the lowest level (merchandise category) of the merchandise category hierarchy.
You can assign one reference article to several merchandise categories - in the end, if you assign a reference article to all m.c. of one node, you have the same effect as if you could assign the reference article directly on the node (even if you cannot do that in one single transaction).

Reference Articles are assigned to Merchandise Category. You can assign a merchandise category reference article to every merchandise category. You can then use it as a template when you create articles. A reference article can be assigned to more than one merchandise category.
The merchandise category reference article is a template for all articles created in that merchandise category. The merchandise category reference article is automatically determined from the merchandise category when the new article is created. You can override this merchandise category reference article by specifying another article as a template.

Merchandise Categories and reference articles in Retail Customers

Hello Retail friends,
I want to use your client knowledge as a reference to my clients implementation.
My client is implementing IS-Retail and as a result we are creating MC's to the different departments in the company.
As we all know, MC's has reference article attached to help the creation and change process a bit easier.
My question is as such:
I need to keep specific information on the MC level that does not exist in the MC (Class 026) - do you have any suggestion on where to use it other than in the Reference article of the MC?
Another question is: in other client implementations, does every MC has a unique reference article or does the reference articles shared through out the hierarchy?

Hi there,
Merchandise Category is not exactly a data retention level but a data accumulation level. If the intention is to look at sales and stock values at MC, yes we can do it as article su-total roll up to MC total and as correctly mentioned in the previous post, you can use characteristics to hold different attributes of article as master data for articles.
Again, creation and assignment of Ref article for every MC is not mandatory and a single article can be used for more than one MC as reference article if you are just holding very basic information on it which you believe, will be common for all the articles under these MC's. Just create MC ref article for one of the MC and for the rest, just assign it manually (or if the number is higher, just create a small BDC, won't take more than 5 min to do the job of this assignment.).

How to Create Merchandise Category Reference Article in IS-Retail system

Hi Experts,
Is there any separate Tcode to create Merchandise Category Reference articles in IS-RETAIL system.
Whether Merchandise Category reference article is created as normal article in MM41 only?
Whether we can assign any of the article that is created in that merchandise category as reference article in WG21 (or) is there any separate Tcode to create Reference articles.
During Retail Implementation projects, how Merchandise Category reference article are handled???

With Tcode WG21 u can create MC ref. article. It is a way to create MC ref article. No need to use MM41.

Listing tab missing in Merchandise reference article (ECC 6.0)

Hi gurus,
When we create a article through MM41, on listing tab there are 3 subscreens,
The last screen Listing Tab which has Execute listing button is not appearing when creating a merchandise reference article.
What we want to achieve is when user creates an article for a specific article type, we want Maintain assortments manually to be ticked on always by default.

Merchandis Reference Article cannot be listed. Therefore, there is no "Execute Listing" Button available.

Import of Merchandise Hierarchy changes from other system

Good day for everyone!
Can you please help me in this situation:
1. We have two system - SAP and system for master data maintenance (call it MD).
2. Merchandise Hierarchy structure creates in SAP and migrates to MD system.
3. All changes we want to make in MD system (creating/changing/deleting hierarchy nodes, hierarchy reorganization, creating/changing/deleting attributes for hierarchy nodes) and then pass it in SAP.
Are there any standard instruments in SAP that can allow to transfer all making changes for Merchandise Hierarchy in MD system to SAP (reports, FM and so on)? Maybe anyone have experience with similar situation? I hope for help! Thank you for answers!

The sceanrio is distribution from the sending system. Standard transactions and ALE support transfer of Merchandise Category Hierarchy (MCH) and dependant objects (characteristics and values, for example).
There are four message types that will be sent: W_WGRP, CHRMAS, CLFMAS, and CLSMAS. MCH objects have dependencies and therefore the sequence of these messages must be controlled, which requires the addition of a fifth message type: SERDAT.
It is important to understand that IDoc Serialization using message types is used when several different message types are dependent on each other, as is the case here. For example, if a merchandise category is assigned to a merchandise category hierarchy level, the merchandise category hierarchy level must first exist.
For this reason, the message types are grouped together in a serialization group, in which the processing sequence is defined. There is a standard serialization group for this purpose: GRP_W_WGRP.
Use the following path to configure inbound processing:
SALE > Modeling and Implementing Business Processes > Master Data Distribution > Serialization for Sending and Receiving Data > Serialization Using Message Types > Define Inbound Processing
Here is an outline of the steps:
1. SALE - Configuration of Serialization of IDoc processing
2. SM59 – Create RFC destination
3. WE21 – Create an RFC Port
4. BD64 – Create Distribution Model
5. WE20 – Create Outbound Partner Profile
6. WE20 – Create Inbound Partner Profile
7. WGSE – ALE MCH Objects
Please also take note of the following standard reports:
RBDSER01 creates the IDocs for a serialization group.
RBDSER02 dispatches the IDocs belonging to a serialization group.
RBDSER03 checks whether all the IDocs have been successfully sent to the receiving system. If they have, a control message of message type SERDAT is sent to the receiving system and posts the serialization group there.
RBDSER04 is for processing of inbound IDocs of a serialization group can be directly started by the Report RBDSER04.
You will want to also consider maintaining Reference Articles in the sending system and distribution of Reference Articles using ALE too. This is because Reference Articles are assigned to the Merchandise Category. The standard transaction for this is BD10.
In addition to the manual transactions and reports, change pointers can also be used to distribute the master data.

Article created via ARTMAS05 and M.C. Reference article - Listing View

Has anyone ever encountered the following scenario and resolved it? We are creating articles using ARTMAS05 IDOC. We have reference articles assigned to the merchandise categories. The reference articles have the Basic, Listing, Sales, Logistics Store and Logistics DC views extended. The ARTMAS05 is created so as to extend all of those views when the IDOC is processed. The created article has all the views extended, but the Listing view is the ONLY view where none of the values from the reference article are copied into the created article.
If I add the Listing view values to the E1BPE1MAW1RT (and RTX) segement of ARTMAS05, they are passed to the article. Yet, I don't have to do that with the other views so it does not make sense for us to do that.
I am very interested in learning whether or not there is a solution to this issue as nothing we do appears to fix this. (Other than custom development.)

Hi Anisha,
In IS-Retail, you need to maintain Logistics DC and Store View of Article Master.
To overcome this, you have two options.
1) Maintain Reference article in Initial Screen of MM41
2) Otherwise Maintain reference article for MC in WG21.
You create one reference article with Basic View, Listing, Logistics DC and Store View Details.
Use the reference article, while creating new Article master in MM41. Its not even required now to maintain Logistics Dc and Store View for New Article. For new articles system copy's the logistics details from reference article.
Carry out Listing in WSM3 Tcode.

Reference article and site

I am new in Retail, having few question in reference site, and reference article. For example, if I input reference DC and store in WSS1. If I change any information in reference site or store, will the existing site copy from reference site also get update?
Also if I input reference article in merchandise category, if i update the information in reference article, will the existing article get update ?

Hi Jojo,
No need to send the EDI profile to POS. You need to configure the partner profile in SAP using transaction code WE20. In this profile, you will have to map inbound and outbound message type to enable data communication between Store and POSHQ.
Apart from partner profile, you also need to configure the Inbound and Outbound profiles and assign to store. You may have to set distribution model (Transaction BD64) to distribute data from SAP to other systems.
Please search SCN for detailed Inbound and Outbound details and POS Integration.

Importing data with characterstics/Merchandise hierarchy in SAP IS Retail

Hi All,
Im importing data into SAP IS Retail from MDM using ARTMAS04 message type using SAP XI. I have cetrain Merchandise hierarchy,Characterstics maintained in ECC as well as in MDM. The article category is "Generic Article". Im able to pass the valuse of characterstics and its values to ECC but idoc is not getting posted and gives an error msg" No Characterstics could be found for generic articles".
In a normal article creation in ECC using MM41 we have to create a variant for generic articles by passing characterstics and its values. How do i create a variant when im fetching data from MDM in XML format. Is there some setting required on ECC side.
Please let me know in case anyone has any clue.

Merchandise Hierarchy Level Code and Description to be displayed in report

I am working on a report that has to display the out put
SITE | ARTICLE | VENDOR | Merchandise Hierarchy 1 Descrptn | Merchandise Hierachy 2 Descrptn| MC |MC Dscrptn| EAN | UOM|
I had written a program and it is displaying all the above fields except Merchandise Hierarchy 1 and 2 Description. Can anyone help me to display those in output.
MC Description also I've displayed by passing MATKL of MARA into CLASS of KLAH and CLINT to SWOR. Likewise any direct table is available for first two hierarchy group.. Since my comapny is using three Levels. .. 1) MH1 2 ) MH2 3 ) MC.

Try with function module "MERCHANDISE_GROUP_HIER_ART_SEL" or "MERCHANDISE_GROUP_HIER_SELECT"

IS-Retail -Merchandise Hierarchy IDOC creation through transaction WPMA

During creation of IDOC for Merchandise Hierarchy through transaction code WPMA & selecting transfer material groups in other data. System create segment for all merchandise hierarchy available in system. If we need to transfer only specific merchandise hierachy for that company code in POS system this is not possible. Also we cannot transfer delta changes in Merchandise hierarchy. Each time we create IDOC you need to transfer all hierarchy nodes.
Is there any transaction by which we can create IDOC for specific merchandise hierarchy.

This will help a lot for me but in this linkages will not be able to analyse by POS system. This will not tell which node is connected to others & their levels. This is gap between WPMA & WAFS. You can send changes with WPMU but changes in node is not getting transfer through this. Thanks for input

Account assignment model is defined as a reference for any document entry that provides default values for posting business transactions. This model can contain any number of G/L account items and can be changed or supplemented at any time. yet another point to note is that the GL line items can be incomplete also.

Repair incorect references number of hierarchy

Mon Mac bookpro refuse de démarrer pourtant fonctionnait il y a 48 heures.
ecran gris pomme et la roue qui n'en finit pas de tourner...
J'ai démarré en utilisant le pomme+option+P+R et j'arrive sur OS, puis j ai tente de reparer le disque... car il le fallait l utilitaire ne semble pas pouvoir reparer il me demande un reformatage...
Le message d'erreur sur le Macintosh HD : nombre incorrect de references e hierarchie...
J'ai besoin de votre science et aide sur ce coup avant reformatage.
Pour info j ai une sauvegarde time machine de 3 semaine sur serveur synologie...

If I ve posted it in English it should be better sorry about that.
My Mac Book pro refuses to start ? I can see a gray screen with the apple and the wheel turning turning turning... and stay like this.. for long.
I manage to start the computer using Cmd+R or Cmd + option+R+P, and both cases i arrived in the OSX utility screen. There I tried disk utility and found that the HD macintosh must be repaired due to incorect references numbers of hierarchy... I tried to repair through the OSX utility but no success...
The nly advise from Repair utility is to erase and rebuilt the HD...
Before that I would like to know if there is no another solution?
On top of that I did 3 weeks ago a backup though Synology net. Still have datas there.
