Referencing an image in Oracle Workflow Notification

Hi,
My requirement is to generate a HTML Oracle Message in Oracle Workflow which references an image. The information which i came across is that we can incorporate an image in html using a URL attribute. This means that we need to put the image file in a location which can be accessed via a url. In Oracle applications, the icons are stored in the folder <ORACLE_HOME>/wf/java/oracle/apps/fnd/wf/icons/. Can we put the image file in this location and refer to it in the HTML notification. In this case we would not be able to use a url attribute. In this case, how will the html code look like for ex

nohup $ORACLE_HOME/bin/wfmail.snd -f $ORACLE_HOME/wf/res/wfmail.cfg owf_mgr/password@connect_string 1>mailer.log 2>mailer_err.log &
(Please note that even this method of running the Oracle Workflow Notification Mailer is not entirely secure in the sense that if anybody who has access to the middle-tier can always do a “/usr/ucb/ps -auxwww | grep wfmail.snd” and get the CONNECT information).

Oracle Workflow Notification to multiple users but only one response required

Hi,
I'd like to ask help on how I would go about this. I have a requirement using Oracle Workflow. Initially the workflow sends a notification with the option to Accept or Reject to a group of people, then if one accepts I should end the process. But if all rejects, then send a notification to the Manager.
I used a Loop Timer to loop through the members of the group but I noticed that one needs to reply before the next one gets notified and so on.
I thought of using adhoc role then adding all members to this role. But not sure how to catch if one accepts or all rejects.
Appreciate any suggestions.

We have a similar situation and every level has multiple user to release the PO. I have tried with all possibilities using standard functionality but no good.

Attach document as a link in oracle workflow notification

Hi,
I have a requirement to attach a word document stored as BLOB in database as a link in workflow notification.The link (document) should be visible and opened both from the workflow notification in the workflow admin notification queue and notification mail the approver receives.
I am getting the document from fnd_lobs and storing it in the item attribute of type Document.
Please help me how to attach the item attribute of type Document as a link in the notification.
This is urgent and any help is highly appreciated.

For attaching a document you need to perform the following steps
1. The document type item attribute which is referred by message attribute must have the value in the form
PLSQLBLOB:SA_MLRTST.GETBLOBDOCUMENT/&DOC_ID
where SA_MLRTST.GETBLOBDOCUMENT is the PL/SQL procedure that generates a PL/SQL BLOB
DOC_ID is an attribute representing the file_id column in fnd_lobs table

Oracle workflow notification mailer configuration error

hi,
i am trying to setup oracle wf notification mailer and trying to put a test email address so that all the emails go to that email address.
but getting following message,
FAILURE: javax.mail.SendFailedException: Sending failed; nested exception is: class javax.mail.MessagingException: 530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first. p5sm5221427pbd.12
my env:
Oracle R12 on Oracle Linux 5.5
smtp server: smtp.gmail.com
imap server: imap.gmail.com
outgoing and incoming: SSL enabled
my sendmail in Oracle linux 5.5 works fine and using that i am able to sent email address to outside world.
please advice on the above error that i am getting in notificaiton mailer configuration screen.

Oracle workflow notification getting disappered from screen

Hi
I am working on a custom workflow. which is sending FYI notification to the supplier.
Workflow is working fine and sending the notification to the Supplier and it is also visible, but after some time the notification does not appear on the homepage in iSupplier login.
I have checked everything from my end but i am not able to identify the issue.
Please suggest what could be the reason.

On this one, I would check in the Closed Notifications tab and see if it/they are there. On FYI Notificaitons, they get marked CLOSED instead of OPEN when 1 or 2 things happen.
1. You open the notification and then close the screen, which actually closing the notificaiton
2. The Notifications are getting emailed using the WF Email service. In this case, when the Notificaitons are emailed they are also marked CLOSED.
Either way, you should see them in the Closed Notifications tab of the Notification screen.

Warning message in Oracle Workflow notification

Hi,
I have a requirement, where a warning message is to be shown to the user when he presses the Approve button of a notification.
I know that through post notification function, validations for a particular notification can be performed and an error message can be shown to the user using RESULT := 'ERROR: error_msg'
But can a warning message be shown ? If yes how?

I would try by using a parameter to tell whether the warning message for the notification has been displayed. First time the notification is being approved the function raises the warning message and sets that attribute to indicate the warning has been displayed. Next attempt to respond the notification your function will check that attribute has been set and will do nothing, just let the notification go responded.
You might as well present the warning message in the notification body and introduce another attribute to get the acknowledgement from the user. Only when that attribute is set to YES (acknowledge) will the post-notification function actually let the notification be approved, otherwise an error is presented for the user to acknowledge.

Issue in notification API for oracle workflow

Hi,
I am facing issue in sending oracle workflow notification. i have created a simple workflow with a process.
I wrote one package which is creating adhoc role and sending the notification through api I(wf_notification.send).
I am able to get the notification as well as email notification but without attribute values. My workflow attributes are getting replaced by null, but message body is appearing.
Please help me, its urgent.

I doubt that Oracle 7 DB is not supported. You may consider raising a SR with support.

KIMYONG: Outbound Workflow Notification Event Message 를 tracking하는 방법

Purpose
Outbound Workflow Notification Event Message 가 발송됐으나 user가 받아보지 못한경우 가 발생했으나 user
이를 tracking하는 방법을 알아보고자 한다.
Solution
1. notification 이 발송될때 oracle.apps.wf.notification.send event발생한다
event key 로 Notification ID 를 사용한다.
2. 다음 조건에서만 The e-mail notification이 발송된다.
i) Notification status is OPEN or CANCELED
ii) Notification mail_status is MAIL or INVALID

iii) Recipient Role has a valid e-mail address and notification preference is in the format MAIL%

3. e-mail로 발송되기전 message가 2번 정지한다.
Raised --> WF_DEFERRED Queue --> Processed by Deferred Agent Listener --> WF_NOTIFICATION_OUT Queue --> Processed by Notification Mailer and sent as e-mail
4. oracle.apps.wf.notification.send을 dispatch 할때 error가 발생하면
message 는WF_ERROR queue에 enqueue되고 .
Error Agent Listener 가 WF_XML.Error_Rule 을 수행하는 oracle.apps.wf.notification.send 의
ERROR subscription 을 dispatch합니다.
5. notification id 와 WF_DEFERRED and WF_NOTIFICATION_OUT queue 의 message stauts 등을 확인하기 위해 $FND_TOP/sql/wfmlrdbg.sql 를 수행합니다.
PROCESSED in WF_DEFERRED - The message is enqueued to WF_NOTIFICATION_OUT
PROCESSED in WF_NOTIFICATION_OUT - The message is sent as e-mail
READY in WF_DEFERRED - Check if Deferred Agent Listener is running
READY in WF_NOTIFICATION_OUT - Check if Notification Mailer is running
6. notification id 의 outbound XML message 를 분석합니다.

7. 필요하다면 WF_NOTIFICATION_OUT queue 를 rebuild 합니다.

repopulating the WF_NOTIFICATION_OUT queue from the Oracle Workflow Notification System

If you have implemented Oracle Alert and the WF_NOTIFICATION_OUT queue contains any pending
alert e-mail messages, those messages must be processed before the queue can be rebuilt. The
wfntfqup.sql script checks the queue for any alert e-mail messages and, if it finds any, the
script returns an error message that specifies how many alert e-mail messages are pending
and indicates that these messages must be processed before the script can run.

If you have implemented Oracle Alert and the WF_NOTIFICATION_OUT queue contains any pending
alert e-mail messages, those messages must be processed before the queue can be rebuilt. The
wfntfqup.sql script checks the queue for any alert e-mail messages and, if it finds any,
exits without performing any changes.
Stop Notification Mailer, rebuild Mailer Queue using $FND_TOP/patch/115/sql/wfntfqup.sql.

You need to check how the notifications are getting created. Please download the workflow from instance and check the logic of the notification creation. That should give ideas on customizations involved.

Is Oracle Workflow customization possible using APIs?

Our Purchase Requisition gets approved through Oracle Workflow Notifications.
Now I need to change Recipient of Notification,i.e. to change workflow on runtime (by using trigger on wf_notifications table) depending on some conditions.
Please help which APIs should I call from trigger to change the forwarded to/ recipient.
Can I use directly Send(),Forward(),Cancel() etc APIs contained in Package WF_NOTIFICATION ?
I used Forward(), but it did not work.
Please help.

External Java Class and Oracle Workflow 2.6.3

Hi,
There is a requirement wherein I have to call an external Java class to fetch a string value from an external source and use that in the Oracle Workflow Notifications.
After reading the Workflow documentation, I understand that Java classes can be called only for standalone version of the Workflow Builder (2.6.3). As the
requirement is for an e-business suite implementation (11.5.10), I was wondering if there is a way to acheive this. Can an external Java class be called from within
Oracle Workflow?
I would really appreciate if someone can point me in the right direction.

Hi,
If you write a wrapper to the java class in PL/SQL, then you can invoke that class from a PL/SQL activity conforming to the standard PL/SQL signature.

Workflow notification called by databse trigger

Hi,
I have a question about Oracle Workflow notification mailer.
Can we use an Oracle database trigger or Oracle Form's trigger
to run or execute oracle workflow to send notification mailer?
For example, if I execute a DML (insert or update) using SQL*Plus to modify a table.
Can the database trigger act as a caller to send mail through workflow API?
