Fixed.

Check your network settings, and set it to LTE/CDMA if it is set otherwise. I've found that phones tend to reset to Global and I have to move it back to LTE/CDMA to get better response/reception.
Is the bluetooth on? Try turning it off to establish a better wifi/LTE signal.

I do have iDVD, but, and I shouldn't have included the mention of eventually needing a DVD, my primary concern is to try and make an MPEG 4. I've tried using share to go to .m4v and the system tells me to shut iMovie down, and won't render it at all. That one time I did run the MPEG 4 as I said, the image looked terrible - not just mildly so, but in some parts almost unwatchable.
I'm running blind on editing at this point because of the size of the project - sound is garbled and it takes forever to do any sort of editing - all I get is the spinning wheel of death. I really just need to get an MPEG 4.

It sounds like you will still want to link your iPad and computer, but you want to prevent the iPad from syncing information from your computer to your iPad. I have an article here for you that can help tell you how to set this up:

You will want to follow the steps here to set up the iPad for syncing, but when it comes time to sync, you'll just want to make sure that the boxes for syncing the multitude of items that you can sync remain unchecked so that none of that information gets synced into the iPad.
Another note: your second Apple ID will not be able to access the apps, music, movies, tv shows, etc., that you have purchased under your primary Apple ID. Even though it seems that the secondary Apple ID still has access to those items, that is just because you are viewing your second Apple ID through the iTunes Store section on your computer and you have those items saved locally on your computer. You will need to repurchase and download all of the content that you wish to use again on your second Apple ID, if that is what you wish to solely use on this iPad.

After Yosemite Update, Macbook Pro Frustratingly slow, along with many problems after

2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
OS X 10.10.3 (14D136)
Memory: 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
186.54 GB free of 498.88 GB
Until the last OS X Update (Yosemite), I have had no problems with my almost three year old MacPro.
However, after the last update, I have so many problems with my mac, I just feel like throwing
it out the window.
Unfortunately, I did not have a backup prior to the update, but I backed up my photos and files, then proceeded
to follow apple's instructions (apple support chat) to erase the HD and re-install yosemite from online. Then, I backed up my files and photos from my external drive. (I used TIME MACHINE)
Fine in theory, but:
1. my iphoto library was somehow lost, nowhere to ever be found again
2. I suddenly have issues with my trackpad--the "double click" or "right" click refuses to work, I cannot drag and drop.
3. I have java runtime error messages even upon startup, without internet connection, even though I have already deleted anything and everything java related.
4. My safari is completely useless. Freezes even when only using one tab, must force quit every second.
5. My computer decides by itself when to zoom in and out of a page.
6. My apps are completely slow, I most always need to force quit them
7. My trash has many issues-- If putting a file in the trash, it says "moving file to trash" for hours on end without ever completing the action, also, if I try emptying the trash, it's the same story.
8. Settings. If I try to change a setting, it says "authenticating" for ever and ever without ever authenticating, and I am unable to change any settings.
I have talked to apple many times but have not yet reached a solution.
I have no other resolution at the moment, as I am in Taiwan for another month (My Chinese is limited and there are few, if none authentic Apple stores around)
I have one more month on my warranty so I can *possibly* take it in to a store when I return home, but I first wanted to ask here and see if anyone else stumbled upon the same issues, or if they had solutions.

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
The test works on OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later. I don't recommend running it on older versions of OS X. It will do no harm, but it won't do much good either.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message. See, for example, this discussion.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
4. Here's a general summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a particular line of text to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
These are not specific instructions; just an overview. The details are in parts 7 and 8 of this comment. The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time.
5. Try to test under conditions that reproduce the problem, as far as possible. For example, if the computer is sometimes, but not always, slow, run the test during a slowdown.
You may have started up in safe mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
7. Load this linked web page (on the website "Pastebin.") The title of the page is "Diagnostic Test." Below the title is a text box headed by three small icons. The one on the right represents a clipboard. Click that icon to select the text, then copy it to the Clipboard on your computer by pressing the key combination command-C.
If the text doesn't highlight when you click the icon, select it by triple-clicking anywhere inside the box. Don't select the whole page, just the text in the box.
8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window to activate it. Paste from the Clipboard into the window by pressing command-V, then press return. The text you pasted should vanish immediately.
9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, a series of lines will appear in the Terminal window like this:

        The test results are on the Clipboard.
        Please close this window.
[Process completed]
The intervals between parts won't be exactly equal, but they give a rough indication of progress. The total number of parts may be different from what's shown here.
Wait for the final message "Process completed" to appear. If you don't see it within about ten minutes, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, press the key combination control-C or command-period to stop it and go to the next step. You'll have incomplete results, but still something.
12. When the test is complete, or if you stopped it because it was taking too long, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak for themselves, not for me. The test itself is harmless, but whatever else you're told to do may not be. For others who choose to run it, I don't recommend that you post the test results on this website unless I asked you to.

2 phones with same problem - Cannot email photo from photo app...

Hi. I am going crazy here. Got my first gen iphone and new 3G ipone - all running latest 2.0 firmware (the later 547 version)...
Both phones have different gmail accounts setup on them and work fine when in the mail app for both sending and receiving (both phones).
Here is the problem.. If I go into the photos app and try to email a picture (on both phones this exact same thing happens), it takes ages with the spinnning logo along the top line near the carrier info.
Eventually it comes up with the message "Photo Delivery Failed - A copy has been placed in your Outbox. Sending the message content to the server failed."
I have tried deleting the accounts and reinstalling them - resetting network settings etc. all the same..
Why is this happening and on both phones with differnt gmail accounts..
Is this a known bug in the v2.0 software?
I am not using mobile.me by the way...
I am stumped - anyone?

Hey, just saw your email after fighting the "Message could not be sent" alert which happened every time I tried to send a photo from my iPhone... I tried my gmail, MobileMe and a personal account, no luck, and the "hard restart" that other posts talked about (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8019073&#8019073) did not help me either.
Then I realized that the problem was only on my WiFi network (just like you said!); flipped it over to 3G, and the Photo was emailed with no problems.
This must be some sort of bug in the operating system... grr! But I'm glad you posted your findings, it saved me!

Replacement iPod with identical problem.

I just paid good money for one of the new 80GB iPod's. As soon as iTunes had successfully loaded my 40GB+ collection onto it and indicated that it was safe to disconnect, the iPod started boot cycling, and couldn't be got out of it.
I got a replacement unit. Same issue.
Tried phoning apple support. Got told I needed to hold to speak to someone more senior. No, they couldn't possibly call me back. 15 mins of lift music and then I'm cut off.
Can anyone tell me
a. What's going on with my iPod(s)
b. Who do I have to sleep with to speak to someone capable of resolving the issue or refunding my money, or do I really have to hire a lawyer?

i have not had this problem with my ipod. but i would try resetting your ipod by pressing and holding the center and the menu buttons at the same time for 6-10 seconds. although i have the 30GB ipod fifth gen i have not had this problem yet. if this does not work call the store at which you purchased it and inform them of the problem

9630 Tour picture quality eventually fades to poor. 5th phone with similar problem.

st November I got the 9630 Tour when it was released to UScellular. Over time the pictures became blurry, that Phone was damnaged+replaced. Over time its pictures too got blurry. Unfortunately on a beach trip, that phone took a swim, and a replacement came. Her 2 months later, its also now has blurry pix. I use my Camera for business so what do I do? Continue 2 have the phones replaced, everytime the photos lose quality? Rim needs to look into this, as this is the 4th blackberry of the same model# and carrier to have the exact some problem. Any suggestions?

N91 great phone with GREAT problems!!!!

first of all i`d like to say that N91 is probably the best music player ever (the quality of sound is amazeing---i have an iPOD and it`s a little kid in front of N91)
so here are my problems:
-- THE music player gets paused in the middle of the trak many times ...i tried to format and still same problem
-- applications like task manager ,IM+..etc don`t work (i`m talkin about 3rd generation applications ,not old s60 softwares)
-- if i set an mp3 as a ringtone,when is ringing, after few seconds it gets to the default nokia tone
i`ve allready updated my firmware at nokia service center and today reinstall it with online support

The pausing music is likely due to file corruption in the song file. Even though the file may play on the PC in musicplayer if the MP3 has enough lost data the N91 will sometimes just pause. I suggest identifying the songs that pause, try removing them and see if the problem stops
Apps: Just because an application is advertised as "S60 3rd edition" you need to ensure it explicitly says for the N91. Alot companies state something that is not always valid for all S60 3rd editions (ie they test it on an N80 and say "its ok for all devices)
MP3 ringtone that drops back to default. That should not happen. I used to see it sometimes if the vibra was on at the exact same time the song was about to play (vibra gets priority i think).

Yet another iMac G5 20" 1.8Ghz with many problems! Help please!

I have a iMac G5 20" 1.8 running 10.4.3 with 2GB RAM
I bought it in July 2005 on Ebay in the UK (the previous owner bought it in January 2005)
The Mac ran fine for months until the start of November when I started having all these problems (which many other iMac G5 20" 1.8 owners are having around the World):
1. Frequent Kernel Panics where the Screen goes all fuzzy and locks up and so I have to restart.
2. Screen is sometimes darker at the top than the bottom after I have started the Mac up (this sometimes fixes itself if I do a Restart).
3. Screen sometimes starts up darker all over (in a slight pinkish hue colour).
4. Frequent Kernel Panics when the screen just freezes up and nothing does anything except the mouse can be moved so I have to restart again.
5. When I start it up in the Morning it takes about 10 times to get it to the desk top because everytime it boots up the screen starts to flicker wildly with lines all over it and then there is a Kernel Panic and the Screen freezes into a fuzzy image.
I have tried all the usual things that people have suggested on this Discussion Board and many other Apple Message Boards to try and sort these problems but nothing seems to fix it.
I have tried resetting the PRAM
I have tried re-installing the OS.
Why was the iMac was fine for almost 6 months and then the problems started occurring?
Was it because I installed OS X 10.4.3? Because it was around that time when the problems began

My Serial Number is one of the serial numbers that is mentioned in the Repair Extension Programme

One important factor to consider is that Apple's original factory warranty does not transfer to second owners. It is only valid with the original purchaser.
The only warranty that transfers to second owners is the optional AppleCare extended warranty.
I mention this only to point out that the extension program does not explicitly state whether the computer is covered regardless of the ownership status, or whether it only applies to the original purchaser who's standard warranty may have run out.
It is implied that it extends existing coverage (even if that coverage has expired).
So, with that in mind, you will need to contact Apple to determine whether the program covers you at all.
If the original purchaser obtained AppleCare for the computer, and then properly transferred that coverage to you, then you are probably fine.
Transferring AppleCare requires a formal request. That's what I had to do to transfer the AppleCare warranty on my old system to the new owner. It required a written letter requesting the transfer to be sent to Apple Computer. The letter is to specifically identify the computer with it's serial number, model number, date of purchase, and AppleCare identification number. It must then formally request that warranty to be placed in the new owner's name.
Anyway, if you have AppleCare, then I wouldn't be concerned. But, if you purchased it without obtaining AppleCare from the previous owner, then you may not have any resolution with Apple.
You'll have to call them to find out.

Gaming 9 ACK board with many problems

Gaming 9 ACK.
Board worked flawlessly for three months with a 5960X processor, quad channel G.Skill 3.33 memory ( 16gb- 4x4 ) and four msi GTX980 gaming in quad sli mode.
Turned off the pc last night, and today, upon start the pc did not boot.
04-55-60-04 and all over again.
Memory modules are populated in slots 1-3-5-7. After several try and error efforts, slot 7 is blocking the system from booting. All four modules checked and are fine.
Removed module in slot 7 and booted. No problem there.
After entering windows 7 environment, a second even bigger surprise surfaced.
NO SLI. Device manager sees only gtx980 in slot 1 and nothing else.
New tests.
Only pci-e slot 1 works. All others are non functional.
So I am with an 8000$ pc, which works with 12gb triple channel memory and one VGA.
Obviously motherboard has gone south.
What now ???

if that doesn't fix the issue your CPU has gone south as both memory and the Graphics are tied to it (CPU has the Memory Controller and the PCI-E Lanes) so its suspect too here!
may be worth RMAing both!

New phone with a problem!

I just recently purchased my first Black Berry, the curve 8530. Sometimes when I'm hanging up from a call it takes a while for my screen to return to normal. There are times when I can only see the top part of my screen (sometimes this can last for about a min). Because this is a new phone and still covered under warranty, should I return it to the store and get a new one?

To prevent freezing or lagging/slow response on any BlackBerry, the most important practice you can adopt is to be sure to CLOSE applications when you are finished using them.
If you just hit the red "end call" key to go back to the home screen the application actually stays open and running in the background. If you do this repeatedly you will have lots of apps open and consequently your memory will get used up. Lack of memory is the biggest reason your BlackBerry slows to a crawl or locks up. If you get into the habit of actually using the menu key to close the applications this will at least slow down this memory-clogging process. You still may have to do a battery pull or use the "Quickpull" app once in a while when things get slow.
Likewise, check your applications running in the background. There are commonly four or five applications that will always be running (Messages, Call Logs/Phone, BlackBerry Messenger, Homescreen, and the Browser; there are other third party applications such as BeeJive, and BlackBerry Alerts which will also run in the background which you cannot close if you want them to operate). Make certain that the browser is NOT on an active webpage (open the browser and choose Menu > Close). Close any other applications that do not need to be running (the camera or a game you were playing or Google Maps).
