Refusal to provide service even during warranty period

I have a ThinkPad 2842-7PU Sl no. XXXXX which brought in 2009 in USA I have renewed warranaty valid from 26th Oct 2012 to 25th Oct 2013 at New Delhi, India. I was getting regular service from IBM who was the service provider till few days back
It appear that Lenovo India itself has taken over the service from IBM recently. My laptop is out of order since 30th July Lenovo is refusing to provide the service by telling that my warranty is not registered.  I have supplied them all related documents including the copy of Invoice of the Warranty Pack but  appears to be of no use.I am at a loss what to do? Is it a way that Lenovo serves its customer?

The phones you get from apple as a replacment are always knew because i went to get a replacment one yesterday and they told me that it was a knew iphone.
i asked how do i know its knew and they he showed me it was knew
he turned on the phone and when it came to the set up screen she showed me it was factory unlocked because it gave you the choice of picking a carrier like at&t sprint verizon and any other carrier the iphone is on.
he told me if it wasnt knew we wouldnt have the choice of picking a carrier it would just go through the normal set up.
i asked him if i could just have the phone unlocked so i can pick another carrier and he told me if it was his choice he would but he couldnt because he could get in a lot of trouble or fired.
hope this helps

  • Apple denying service during warranty period

I had an iPad mini which suddenly became unresponsive while going through my photos. When I took it to the service centre, they denied service even though it was within warranty period! And the reason they give is the device was opened and tampered with !! There is no way to open the ipadmini. How can it be opened! The service centre guy says he agrees to this fact but can't help as their computer is giving this reason - unauthorised handling of hardware. I went through this forum and found some other people also with the same complaint. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it. Consumer courts in India are not as strong and nor is it easy to pursue a case. Most of us are unaware about how to go about it.
IF anybody has a suggestion, it would be greatly appreciated. All I can say is very disappointing to see apple guys cheat you on your face with an impossible reason. Even if that analysis of their's says they are denying service because my iPad body is of plastic, I just have to accept!! They can give any flimsy reason and there is nothing you can do about it.

Take it to another service center and see what they say. Or ask to talk to a supervisor. if that doesn't work, click on the 'contact us' link in the lower right corner of this page and take your issue to apple corporate.

  • Spare Parts on consignment at no cost during warranty period

With new equipment being installed, several vendors have agreed to provide us with spare parts on a consignment basis without any consumption cost during the warranty period. When the warranty ends we'll either purchase the spares or return them to the vendor. Is there a standard SAP process for these parts? I've look into consignment processing but did not find a clean way to do this without an accounting entry. We are on ECC 6.0.

    Jody,
Try asking the same question to the [Materials Management|SAP ERP - Logistics Materials Management (SAP MM); guys.

  • Post-warranty period defect in iPhone

I bought my iPhone 4S in March 2011. There was some defect in the phone recently. I was not able to hear the ring tone of incoming calls, listen to music etc. I could hear the sounds with the headphone on. I went to the Apple dealer/ franchisee in Bangalore, India. They told me that it was a defect in the hardware and they were going to replace my phone with a new one and they did it promptly. I was lucky that the problem surfaced during warranty period.
But what if it had happened in the post-warranty period? I would like to know from others based on past history and practices: Does Apple get such and similar defects repaired (for a charge) at their service centres or is that the end of that phone/tablet and one needs to buy a new one? Not sure how it works and a bit concerned. Would like some information in this regard. Thanks
I love my iPhone and iPad!

Post wrranty period you can take it into a service center and (wth exceptions) get the whole unit replaced with a refurbished unit for a flat fee.
If a problem arises with the repair they just did that is warrantied for 90 days.

  • I need a data transfer from intact hard drive of older macbook that won't boot. Can Apple provide this service even though my one to one membership has expired?

I need a data transfer from a 2005 Macbook to my new one (2010). I damaged the old laptop and although it wouldn't turn on, when I brought it to the Apple Store they ascertained that the hard drive was still intact. They said I needed to purchase a one to one membership to get a data transfer, which I did, but somehow forgot about it and now it's expired. Is there any way I can still get the data from the old hard drive transferred to my new macbook? Can Apple provide this service even though my one to one membership has expired?

Go to OWC where you can purchase a suitable enclosure for the drive. You will need an enclosure for a SATA notebook drive. This is assuming the old computer is a MacBook and not an iBook. I make this observation because the first MacBook was released in 2006, not in 2005. If yours is a 2005 model then it's an iBook and uses an ATA interface.
Install the old drive in the enclosure, connect to your new computer. You can then transfer your data.

  • HT201412 iPad screen does not respond, even after several resets (both with iTunes and at the Apple Store). Apple is also unresponsive to a hardware problem once the product warranty period has expired. Does anyone have a suggestion?

It is getting very frustrating to have Apple products.
Constant software upgrades and product releases seems to be the sole focus of Apple.
Apple does not offer hardware repair services. I can understand this policy when products do not fail. But it seems that this is not the case with Apple, as it becomes frequent that products fail just after the warranty period.
New software releases also destroyed the value of a "GREAT EXPERIENCE". YouTube, Google Maps, ... all features that are deleted with the latest IOS and that Apple could not properly replace.
It seems that Apple products are not 'consummable' products but 'disposable' products.
Let's see how robust SAMSUNG tablets are

Apple has hardware repair services, on repairable hardware. Apple just doesn't repair iPads, from day one Apple has always replaced iPads, either under warranty or as a reduced cost out-of-warranty purchase.
The rest of your post is just a rant. Enjoy your Samsung products.

  • Need information regarding the warranty period of my curve 9360

I was having battery backup issues with my device so I took it to the Blackberry service center. service center people have inspected it and have found that battery is faulty but they have refused to change the battery stating that my device is out of warranty period as its over a year when I purchased my mobile phone and warranty period is for one year only. Although it is clearly mentioned over the Box of my phone that warranty is for 18 months.
    Date of Purchase: 21/09/2012
Please help. what should i do?

    Hello,
Warranty is a contractual matter between buyer and seller, determined at the time of the transaction. What it states on the box may or may not be governing...it might be overridden by other contractual documents (which, of course, no one here in this user-to-user community can see). If I were you, I would review all of my contractual documents coupled with knowing my local jurisdictional requirements...some governments require some things, while others do not. With you knowing all of that information, escalate with the service center to assert your rights, whatever those are.
    Good luck!

  • Does apple provide service and repairs internationally?

I am presently in the US and about to purchase iPhone 5s in the coming week. In November I am moving to India for some work. After going through the apple communities I have found that Apple is not providing international warranty. So if that's the case will they provide service and repair if I am ready to pay for it? (considering the warranty is not applicable in some other country)
    Thanks.

No, Apple India will refuse to work on an iPhone purchased in the US -
either under warranty basis or as paid repair. They will not have any
replacements for iPhones from other markets (iPhones are generally
replaced except for a few repairs that are made in individual - not all -
Apple locations. Buy your iPhone in India when you get there to avoid
    problems.

  • Question about warranty period

How long about the warranty period of mother board? (notebook model: Satellite L305-S5896)
I use it only 1 year and 4 months, now it can't power on.
The adaptor is ok, so I think the problem is the mother board.

You can contact Toshiba Tech suport and give them the serial number located on the bottom of you PC, They will tell you if it is still covered under a waranty.

  • How can you manage ssl service provider service in PI 7.1?

    Hello there..
I am trying to find a place in Netweaver admin tool so that I can add CA certificate into the SSL provider service Trusted Certification Authorities list. I use to be able to do that in Visual Admin tool -> dispatcher node -> Services -> SSL Provider -> Runtime tab -> Client Authentication, but now I cannot find anywhere in the NetWeaver Admin tool.
    Thanks.
    Jerry.

    Hi Jerry,
Once you login to the NWA, follow this path
Configuration Management -> Security -> Certificate and keys ->
You need to import the client certificate under ICM_SSL_xxx and you can find SSL_Provider if you scroll completly down. You need to import the private key of the client certificate under ICM_SSL_xxx.
You have even Trusted CA's under this list. Please let me know if you have any problems.
    Thanks,
    Srini

  • Tables containing contractors who provide services more than 1000 FC

Can anyone will tell me which tables I have to use to create this report................
Report to identify the contractors who provide services to the company for a amount more than 1000 FC during the 2000 year.

    Hi,
You need to work out how to identify a Contractor.
Your contractors need to be setup as Suppliers in Oracle, Suppliers have Classifications (Type) and perhaps your Payables team always use a specific Supplier Type for contractors ... or maybe not!
If they use a Supplier Type to identify contractors then your query might be something like the following (assuming you don't want to consider tax/freight/etc.):
    set pages 9999
    col vendor_name format a50
    select pv.vendor_name, pv.vendor_id, sum(aid.amount)
    from ap_invoices_all ai
    , ap_invoice_distributions_all aid
    , po_vendors pv
    where ai.invoice_id = aid.invoice_id
    and ai.vendor_id = pv.vendor_id
    and pv.vendor_type_lookup_code = '&Contractor'
    and aid.accounting_date >= to_date('01-JAN-2003','DD-MON-YYYY')
    and aid.accounting_date < to_date('01-JAN-2004','DD-MON-YYYY')
    and aid.line_type_lookup_code = 'ITEM'
    group by pv.vendor_name, pv.vendor_id
    having sum(aid.amount) > 1000;
Running this in Vision Demo 11.5.10.2 with vendor_type_lookup_code = "Contractor" gets:
    VENDOR_NAME VENDOR_ID SUM(AID.AMOUNT)
