Can i use HU2 system as a sand box to learn ABAP and functional like fico...? I think the system is for navigation, testing....etc

By Default OBI presentation server looks for System Delivery Profile for Users while using iBots. When SA System Subject Area is setup ...BI picks the profile from SA System. Incase you just want to have Interactive Dashboard checked...make sure you have atleast one delivery profile setup in My Accounts for that user else it will throw this error. You can give any value there.

I did the following configuration:

From within the wsnavigator I can test the service, but from VC I can not get the classifications.

I have a req. where we need to fetch all the PM orders on some conditions and calculate planned and actual costs.
I want to know what is the system status when costs are supposed to exist.

Hi,
As you are aware there are two types of costs.
1 planned Cost this will get updated irrespective of your order system status. As soon as you maintain Material or Opertion with activity type.
Even if you select exterenal cantrol key in operation, what ever you give the cost while filling the data for PR generation will pick up for planned cost. Simillarly for material PR too.
2. Actual cost this wil get update when you post the material or confirm the operations. You can post material provided your order system status is REL released That means you can say actual cost posting will happen provided order is released.

Reg Logical System Name

Hi,
We have ECC 6.0 PROD and ECC 6.0 QAS System.
WE have different logical system names for both the systems
But when we refreshed the PROD to QAS , we have to run the BDLS transcation to change the logical System name(since we are having different logical System name)
But BDLs is taking more than 40 hours.
Please let me know , whether logical system name can be the same throughtout the landscape or not
In other words , is there any side effects if i have same logical system name for QAS and PROD

Reg: Business system

Hi All,
Abap program will write the IDOC information into a flat file and this flat file will be put into the same SAP R/3 App server.
XI Interface has to pick this flat file which is located in the R/3 App Server and send to the File server in the same format (i mean to say same file has to be keep into the app server) ..No mapping nothing just our XI interface has to work like a FTP which will pick the file from R/3 App server and put the same file in some other File server.
To Achieve this..

just now i did a simple scenario to achieve this...
i have taken two business services one for sender and the other is for receiver.
message interface and interface namespace for both i gave fake name which is same for both.
then i have created two communication Channels (one is for sender an the other is receiver) with XI adapter as i already said we are using J2se plain adpater engine...
in receiver determination i have configured receiver determination ,sender agreement,receiver agreement (in all these i have given some fake name for both sender interface,receiver interface and namespace).
now in j2se plain adapter engine i have configured sender and receiver file adapter..
but i need a code for sender j2se file adapter to look into sap/r3 server's directory ..
if its XI file adapter we choose FTP as a file protocol and will give r/3 login details.
but in j2se file adapter how will u write the code for FTP file protocol
Please help me ...

Hi Reehan,
Why don't you use the ABAP program to send the information directly to XI via proxy, rather than have it write to a file which XI will pick up?
Currently, in your scenario, you are just using XI as an File Transfer tool. This is not recommended, not least because it is a waste of system resources. Also XI license costs are based on message volumes, so you will end up with more costs for no added value.
Alternatively, use the SAPFTP functionality in the ABAP stack to directly FTP the file out to the target system, eliminating XI altogether!

Reg Technical System & Business System Creation

Hi,
Am trying to create a Technical System in my SLD for my ECC6.0 installation.The System got created and my problem is when i create my Business system out of it.When i try to create a Business System am not able to do so and i get an error as below:
"No products are defined for the selected technical system
Define the installed products in theTechnical System View "
also when i try to add products am not able to do so.what could be the problem.I need solution to this very urgentlg.
Am on SAP Netweaver SP09 stack.
Can someone help me out.I want to create a Business system to use it in my XI Integration.

Is your SLD on Stand alone java or is it on dual stack? If it is on a dual stack system, login to your ECC system and register your ECC system with the SLD using RZ70.

Hi Sridhar,
There will be 3 servers in BW namely Development, Quality and Production. First of all the initial development work is done in Dev and it is sent to Qual wherein it undergoes the testing if anything is wrong then it will be sent back to Dev and after the corrections again to Qual. If you get a green signal fro your work then it is sent to Prod during Go-Live.
Coming to how the data is tranfered from one server to another, it is done through Transpotations with the help of BASIS guys.

It is not possible to create a different TS & BS for the same client.
1. In the Systems Catalog we define each Technical System in the landscape.The Technical System correlates the software to the physical host on which it is installed. The exact settings for each System depend on the system type.
2. Technical systems are the basis for defining Business Systems. The association between the Technical system and the Business System is dependent on the TS type; for instance, in a system based on SAP Web AS (ABAP), each client in the system is a separate Business System (this corresponds to the notion of a client as a Logical System in ALE
configuration).

Reg: On System outage Interface doesnot execute

hi Experts ,
your suggestions are important here.
As per the requirement we have built an interface to send SAP-R/3 data to third party system. Now the interface executes as a daily Job (Daily execution) .
We are just pondering on the fact that if any of the day there is a system outage then do we need to handle that situation while developing the interface at the technical level...
Or is it like the day there is a system outage there is no need to send across the master data (Cost Centers and Project Codesi.e WBS Elements) to third party system. The interface will get executed for the next possible day.
Which amongst the above approach will be suggestible ?
Any suggestions will be beneficial in our process of understanding.

Let me summarize your question
You are sending Master data on daily basis to third party system. What happens to changes that incur to master data if system is down?
If that is your question, then create parameter in TVARVC table with parameter say MASTER_LAST_EXEC_DATE and update the value with last execution timestamp. When the program is process read the timestamp from the parameter and pick the changes from that timestamp onwards.

From the point of view of PI landscape and testing methodologies :
Performance testing
1.To Test the systems load tolerance .Its purely physical testing and no application logic is tested in this.One case may be to check the system performance like how much time is taken if multiple users assess the system or say create orders using the interface.
2.There may be several ways u can design an interface to make the business logic to work.(say with BPM or without BPM).So in PT you can evaluate system performance and decide on which approach is best suited.
3. It might be useful to fix any hardware sizing issues also.
4.Usually done in pr- prod system say after a system refresh or migration etc.
System Integration Testing--
1. To test end to end business logic and functionality when all the systems in the data flow are connected and individual unit test is already done (say ECC,PI and third party ).
2. helps is checking the connectivity, execution of functionality.Basically it can be a functionality test.
3.Done after Dev and before User acceptance testing.
Regression testing----
1. Its done when there are changes made to functionality/data , before and after test scripts are prepared and executed.
2.its helps in checking if the changes made will effect any exisiting functionality ,basically before and after the change the existing functionality should not effect but the required changes should reflect.
3.Done after a fix in code and before moving it to prod.

Hello Everybody
This is related to PS cash flow. Commitment activated. Created project. Created PO with proper commitment item selected automatically. The account assignment in purchase order is P. This means after GR (Goods receipt) the cost is charged to project.
As soon as the purchase order is made line item appears in report CJIA as credit in column "val type" 51 - Purchase order. Val type 51 stands for purchase order. After goods receipt and invoice receipt is made the report CJIA changes.
The record against val type 51 becomes zero and new record with same amount appears against val type 54-invoice . Val type 54 stands for invoice. Payment is made against the invoice. This does not appear in the report. Record with val type 57 - payment should have appeared in the repot CJIA. This record is missing.
Please suggest me
