Regarding Alerts

I did alerts with ALRTCATDEF....here...consider i am doing a file to IDOC scenario...
everything went well in XI...but 51 status at ECC..
we dont get alert as it was successfull from XI point of view...
other than ALEAUDIT...is there any other way we can trigger an email about 51 status error to the business owner...

Database: Single Instance, 10.2.0.3
OS: Redhat Linux 5
I checkd on my standby if logs are applied or not by the following command.
SQL> SELECT SEQUENCE#,APPLIED FROM V$ARCHIVED_LOG

I might look at the SQLNET.ORA file on both servers
Try setting these :
SQLNET.INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT=120
SQLNET.SEND_TIMEOUT = 300
SQLNET.RECV_TIMEOUT = 300
Make sure you restart the LISTENERS.
I'd look at this first :

I Want to Know When We Use Alert Messages And When We Will Use Fault Messages in One Scenario.
According to My Knowledge Fault messages were used in Sysnch Comminication.
Used to Send the Error Messages That Occured at Receiver Side.Its Like an Acknoledgement to the Sender Form the Receiver.Used to Store the Log of the Application Error.

Fault messages
Fault message is an error meesage. Its like an exception in simple terms. The fault message is used to store a log for application error. Fault messages is defined in IR.
To give an overview of Fault messages it is mostly used in synchronous communication. When an error occurs at the inbound side instead of sending the response message back it sends a fault message back to the sender system to handle error.
Fault Message are Msg type that provided whenever u create a namespace..they are usually used to get the exception or error mapped which has occured while execution of Application at the sender/receiver end....
Alert Messages
Ususally purpose of alert are error notification. But not always.
e.g Suppose there is a scenario: If a user has applied for a leave from one system to another, the alert should be raised for a particular interface and this should be notified to XYZ Administrator. (Just an example, may not exactly suit the real world scenario)
Note : Triggering of alert cannot be made user specific...What u can do most is that u can configure the alert and add a particular user only in ur recipients list so that notifications can be restricted to particular user only ...

Fault messages are used to propogate / send back the error message to the calling application. This is used when there is a failure and the sending system needs to know what the error was. This is more of catching Application Errors.

Regarding alerts in Spreadsheet and Listview components

Hi,
Is there any way to have alerts on Spreadsheet and Listview components (in Xcelcius) as we have on tables in WebI reports?
If not possible on above mentioned components than are there any other components (tabular format) on which such alert is possible?

Questions regarding Alert log & Control file

This is my first post to this forum. I'm new at administrating a database 11.2.0.3. I have couple of questions regarding Oracle DB.
1)Which one is preferred method among the two?
Checking alert log fie manually or automating a shell script for checking alert log file.
2) Does setting CONTROL_FILE_RECORD_KEEP_TIME parameter to zero make the database unrecoverable, if RMAN recovery catalog is not used?

That depends on your comfortability - But checking alert log is good.

Yes - you cannot recover your database if it set zero and doesn't have recovery catalog.

Regarding Alert Recipients

Dear all,
I have implemented Alerts in landscape and working fine. Now the requirement is
1) Operations team should receive alerts related to certain interface errors only
2) MDM team should receive alerts related to MDM Interface errors only
3) OTC team should receive alert emails to OTC related Interface errors only
As far as i know, we have to create separate alert categories for each and every interface to define recipients related to particular interface.
Is there any other way apart from this??

As far as i know, there is no way to identify the team by group of Interfaces. We can only identify Interface by interface
The alert category which you created should have the team as receipients. You can configure that by any of the following ways-
1. Create a group mail Id for the team and give it in fixed recepients.
2. Use 'Subscription by authorization' and the team should subscribe only for alert category meant for them.
The alert rules which you create in RWB - 'Alert Configuration' should have the correct filtering criteria.
For example, the alert rules for MDM errors should use the Alert category created for MDM errors so that only users who subscribed/configured for that alert category will receive the alerts.

Question regarding alert log file and trace files

What should be the alert log file size ? And when should it be deleted? And for how many days user trace files should be kept?
Also will anyone please tell me the importance of these files.

Questions regarding Alerts

I am wondering how Alerts are supposed to work in the following scenarios:
1. Alerts associated with a query has no output. Does the alert still trigger and show up in the inbox eventhough there no output as result of the query? For exemple. Alert is set up for every hour and is associated to a query to show all Sales orders with Open status. If no orders have status= open, will the alert still trigger every hour showing no orders?
2. Some alerts that are set up to trigger every hour does not show up in the inbox. They basically do not trigger for some reason. What would cause an alert not to trigger as per specied time? Does the time format have an influence on this? ( 12hr VS 24hr clock setting)

Just to make things simple :
Alerts are triggered when it met your condition . If the condition is not met , alert doesn't work as it doesn't meet the necessary requirement .
For example
If sales Order discount is greater than 10%,please alert manager
But if your sales order is not greater than 10%,alert won't catch even you set it up as different time frame .
If you are planning to catch an event based on time frame ,it can be done but a liitle bit complicated .

I assume that this alert is a periodic alert that fires every x hours.
A summary alert will help you send an email that looks like this

PSA: in iOS 7.1.1, alert sounds are tied to your media/game volume and not to your ringer volume

I was befuddled by this for a long time.
Alert sounds would just stop making noise. This includes dings from txt messages and new mail.
If I went to Settings>Sounds>Text Tone and select several options, all I would get were vibrations.
I rebooted the phone and toggled the silence switch on and off.
I finally figured out that if I started a game and turned the volume up, the noises would come back.
I think it is reasonable for a user to wish to play a game on mute but still hear alert messages.
I think if we can only have two separate systems for audio control, the alert sounds should be tied to the ringer, not to the media/game sounds.
When I spoke to an apple support person over online chat, they seemed to agree that this sounds like a bug.
I have seen many confused posts in these forums regarding alert sounds suddenly disappearing.

I've had a 5S since a few weeks after launch and this problem has only come about in the last few weeks, so I suspect it has to do with a recent OS patch.
Sometimes my alert messages just stop working. They seem to work one minute, then they stop. Alert messages would include email notifications and txt message pings. When they are not working, I can go into Settings>Sounds>Text Tone, and all of the options will simply result in a vibration and no sound.
Rebooting the phone does not fix the problem.
What I have found to fix the problem is to open a game and raise the volume of the game. Then when I exit the game, alert messages start again.
This seems reversible, if I go back in and mute a game, my alert messages go away as well.
If this is by design, I do not think it should be, as I think it is reasonable for a user to want to control the "media" part of the volume separately from the "ringer" and "alerts" part of the volume. It makes sense to want play a game or video on mute but still get alert messages. If anything, I think the alerts volume should be tied to the ringer volume, I think that would make sense.

Additional info, which makes me think this is a bug rather than a feature. If you go into Settings > Sounds and turn off the "Change with Buttons" option, then the ringer should always ring at the volume of the slider on the screen.
The volume buttons now appear to only affect the media/games volume, and it works as expected EXCEPT:
if you are in a game and you mute the volume in the game, then exit the game, all alert sounds are muted and you can't turn them back up by raising the volume with the volume buttons.
If you go back into the game and raise the volume within the game, then exit the game, then alert sounds do turn back on.
I have tested this with two games from two developers.

Dynamic text in ALERTS

Hi,
I have one BLOCK in which I have one exception brach with control (For raising the ALERT in case of system errors) step. I have synchronous send step with in this block. This synchronous send step throws system error becuase of different reasons like system not available, JCO errors for date formats. Is there anyway I can trap this exact cause of system failure and pass it as dynamic text to control step.

Send alerts to users for events or exceptions in reports

Hello gurus!
I have some doubts and questions regarding alerts in BW 7...
I know we can use Broadcasting for sending a report scheduling by mail to differents users, using roles, authorizations, etc...
However, I dont know if we can use broadcasted for sending by mail, alerts after system events or changes in reports, in BW 3.5, before we can use Report Agent for it, thats correct? but now, how can do it? and where can I find information? for BW 7.0...

CC 5.X Alerts Functionality - Q's

Please help wth the below questions regarding Alerts in CC 5.2
- For Conflicting alerts, we are receiving alerts even if the conflicting TCodes are executed 6 months apart, is there a parameter to fix this to report an alert if executed within a month, if yes where is this available? Or what is the default value for this time period.
- Is it possible to have the Alerts trigger a notification only for a Subset of Risks (Say beginning with Y).. this did not work on our landscape - if it is possible please help with what other config needs to be done.

Tthe alerts are not based on the last run date, Our Alerts Job runs everyday and sometimes we see alerts for conflicting TCodes that are executed more than 4 months apart.
We would like to restrict this to a Static period of 2 months and would appreciate information on where to set this a parameter if possible or from where the alerts pick up the TCode execution occurance.
