Reinstalling Acrobat 9 Pro

The updater 942 tells me that it could not be applied because the original Adobe Acrobat applications contents were modified since the original installation.
It told me to reinstall the application. Error: 1301
When I tried to reinstall I got as far as choosing the application and then clicking the update button, after which nothing happened. Waited 5 minutes - nothing.
(I had used an application called CleanMyMac, which among other things had resulted in me having to reinstall QuarkXPress and (on Tiger) Acrobat 7. I suspect this caused the problem with Acrobat 9.)
Anyone have a suggestion as to how I can get the application to reinstall? Thank you.

Thank you for the reply.
Uninstaller worked fine.
When I tried reinstalling the same problem arose - got as far as choosing the application to reinstall and clicking update; then nothing happened.
So at the moment I don't have Acrobat 9 Pro ...
I've scrapped the CleanMyMac app.

    Hey jeroenb16613921,
Please specify exactly when you get this white popup screen. While opening a PDF or launching Acrobat by double-clicking on the Acrobat icon.
If it comes when opening a PDF, then where is this PDF actually stored?
Let me know more on the same so that I can analyze the issue.

  • Reinstall Acrobat Pro 7 - can't install updates past 7.0.5

Upgraded to OS 10.5 (PPC Mac - last operating system) and had to reinstall Acrobat Pro 7 from CD as "components were missing". Adobe Updater worked through 7.0.5 Update, now refuses to add any further updates. Tried manual updating, but the 7.0.7 updater says "An invalid application was selected" when I try to select the copy of Acrobat Pro 7.0.5. The 7.1.3 "all" updater, as well as all those between 7/0/7 and it,  tells me "The selected application version is outside the range that can be updated with this installer".
    Suggestions?
    Rick

When I was installing, I received a message saying,
"Error 1310. Error writing to file C:\Program Files (X86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\adistres.dll.  Verify that you have access to that directory."
Then it had a button for retry and when I hit it, it finished installing without any more errors.  My UAC always asks me to allow programs to make changes to the computer and when I allow, it's always fine.  I actually like this for added security.  I've never had an issue with any other program.

  • Cannot Reinstall Acrobat Pro 7.0

I have CS2. I uninstalled Acrobat Pro 7.0. Now I cannot reinstall it from the original software. Install runs but does not install anything, nor does it show any error messages. I have XP SP3 and IE8. I have Reader 9.1.2  The other componens of CS2 work fine. Any help?

Adobe recommends that you do not have Acrobat and Acrobat Reader installed on the same system. The programs have files that each products installs in the same folders that can cause all kinds of problems such as yours. I strongly suggest you remove Acrobat Reader using the Windows Install Cleanup Utility. Then reinstall Acrobat Pro. You still will be able to view PDF files in your browser with Acrobat itself without Reader being installed.
    Good luck.

  • Lost toolbar (Typewriter) when reinstall acrobat pro 7 (CS2) under Win 7

    Hi There,
Recently, my computer has beed updated to Win 7 from Windows XP. When I reinstalled Acrobat pro 7 (CS2),  toolbar "typewriter" did not show up.
Please help to find out the way to fix it. Thank you very much.

I don't have AA 7 available anymore. It may be that you have a selection of tools that can be made, I don't remember. Without finding a machine with AA 7 on it, I can't help much more on that. As far as the printer, you have to install a PS printer (either from Adobe or maybe a color HP PS printer). Then change the name to Adobe PDF and the port to FILES. Then, when you print you will be saving to file. The file created must be opened in Distiller to create the PDF. I have tried this on both 332 and 64-bit versions of Win7. There may be other features that vary and I did not do extensive testing. Maybe one of your systems is 32-bit and the other 64-bit and that might cause the problem. Keep in mind that AA 7 is a 32-bit process. You also need to install the updates that are at ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/. Apparently you were successful with the installation, though the activation server is no longer available for AA7 -- there is an alternative in that case, but you don't seem to need it.

(Previous installation got corrupted) Continually getting message ‘Acrobat has detected another process which has not yet completed…’. Have now closed system both cold (full shutdown) and warm (restart) over 10 times. Every time I go to reinstall I get message.

I would run http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html and delete any Acrobat folders that have been created, then try again. Be sure to log in as the administrator and disable anti-virus when you have problems like this.

  • Reinstalling Acrobat Pro Add In to Word 2010

I had to reinstall my office 2010 on my computer.  I am also running Acrobat xi Pro which was fine and did not need to be reinstalled.
When the installation and updates to Office 2010 were completed I noted that my Acrobat xi Pro add-in for word was gone.
I need to reinstall it.  How do I do that without reinstalling the enite Acrobat xi Pro application?
    Gordon Jacobson

Sorry but your response is incorrect.
One does NOT have to reinstall Acrobat Pro to fix this problem.  I figured out that all one had to do was run the Repair tool which can be found in the Help pulldown menu.
BTW, the add-ins were NOT disabled.  They had been removed.

  • Reinstalled Acrobat Pro 8.1.6 won't let me print web pages to PDFs

I'm really ticked at Adobe's "help" in updating the program only to cause a lot of misery.  I'd read Acrobat had a security update, and got a constant reminder from Adobe update to install the available update.  I've been using Acrobat Pro 8.1.6 with absolutely no problems printing web pages to PDFs.  I installed the 8.1.7 update which immediately disabled Acrobat completely.  So I wasted a lot of time uninstalling Acrobat and reinstalling sequential versions to get back to 8.1.6.  Now I can't print web pages to a PDF.
I had NOT done anything else to installed programs in the meantime, except that probably Norton has automatically updated antivirus files in the background.  I don't have any problems using Acrobat to open and print an existing PDF, or to create new PDFs from my scanner.  I can do a hardcopy print of a webpage by selecting my Brother printer.  From Word 2002 and Excel 2002, I can create a PDF by "printing" to Acrobat as usual.   The only problem is creating a PDF by "printing" a webpage by selecting Acrobat as the device from the list of available printers.  This problem happens both with Firefox and with Internet Explorer 7.
I have Windows XP Pro SP3.  I did the most recent Windows Tuesday security update several days before messing around with Acrobat and did not have any problems printing PDF files from Firefox or IE7.  So, it seems like it's clearly an Adobe Acrobat problem.  I get the small box saying "Preparing to Print" which goes nowhere and then I have to use the Task Manager to get out of the loop.  That closes Firefox, and when I reopen Firefox, the same webpage comes up.

  • Reinstalling acrobat pro after a reformat

Good evening to all. I have a customer whose computer is being reformatted. The customer does not have an install cd because it was done as an internet upgrade. I found the serial number of the program and tried to reinstall it on the new hard drive but it made mention of the fact that there was not a suitable upgrade and gave me 2 options. One option was the disc and the other was contact customer support. I did use the setup files from the acro pro folder on the old hard drive. I did see an option to deactivate the program and transfer the activation but did not want to try that until I was sure of the procedure. The customer must have this for work and I need to make sure that the transfer is successful. All I could find on the adobe site is updates and not the full program. I need some help on this quick. Thanks for your responses. By the way; The version is adobe acrobat pro 7.1.0.

I will provide some comments, but take them with a grain of salt. I am not sure if activation started with AA7. I use a corporate version and do not run into the activation issue for some reason. From what I understand, you would have to deactivate before you transferred the program -- though there may be another activation with the current serial number and the deactivation could be done later.
If they downloaded AA7, then they should have made a CD of the install files they downloaded. I assume those are the setup files you are talking about. If so, write them to a CD and make sure the customer understands they need to store them safely. They should also have registered. The registration is important if they happen to lose the CD or have other problems. Without the registration, Adobe will tell them that they have no clue who they are and if they had a legit copy of the software - end discussion!
Try to install from the setup files you found and see if that is indeed the download. At this point, there is no way to get the AA7 download (except possibly from Adobe with the registration information!). What is available (at cost) is the AA9 version. The updates are simply updates to current installations, not the original setup files.
Hopefully the customer is not upgrading the OS. If so (and it is VISTA), you will likely have to talk them into an upgrade. AA7 is not certified for VISTA, though some have apparently gotten it to work (and are probably just prolonging a disaster.
I assume someone with more info will be along, but in the meantime I would suggest you simply try to use the setup files. Bill
