  • Backup RMAN Incremental Level 1 without Level 0 - 10gR2

    Hi,
I'm a bit confused after some tests.
The Question: It's mandatory to perform backup incremental level 0 before the level 1 using Oracle 10gR2 ?
    On Oracle 11.2 it's mandatory but on Oracle 10.2.0.5 I don't know.
Test on 11.2. If doesn't exists level 0 rman take care about it and perform automaticaly level 0 before level1

    ...Docs said:
Incremental backups capture only those blocks that change between backups in each datafile.
In a typical incremental backup strategy, a level 0 incremental backup is used as a starting point. A level 0 backup captures all blocks in the datafile.
So, on Oracle 10.2.0.5 this not happen like on 11.2:

    Hi Gokhan,
    Thank you for point this.
After spending a time studying about this I find out this:
Your expanation apply only in Oracle 10gR1/R2.
Because there is differences between RMAN Version 10gR1/R2 and 11gR1/R2 about Incremental Level 1 and this confuse me.
Oracle 10gR1/R2 run only one backup incremental level 1 even if level 0 not exists .
Oracle 11gR1/R2 run two backups incremental if level 0 not exists. i.e level 0 first and after that level 1.
    Oracle 10gR2
If no level 0 backup is available, then the behavior depends upon the compatibility mode setting. If compatibility is >=10.0.0, RMAN copies all blocks changed since the file was created, and stores the results as a level 1 backup. In other words, the SCN at the time the incremental backup is taken is the file creation SCN.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/backup.102/b14192/bkup004.htm
Thats means wich RMAN run level 0 with name level 1. (i.e: Only one Backup) This is confuse.
    Oracle 11gR1
If no level 0 backup is available in either the current or parent incarnation, then the behavior varies with the compatibility mode setting. If compatibility is >=10.0.0, RMAN copies all blocks that have been changed since the file was created. Otherwise, RMAN behaves as it did in previous releases, by generating a level 0 backup.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/backup.111/b28270/rcmcncpt.htm#BRADV89500
    Oracle 11gR2
If no level 0 backup is available in either the current or parent incarnation, then the behavior varies with the compatibility mode setting. If compatibility is >=10.0.0, RMAN copies all blocks that have been changed since the file was created. Otherwise, RMAN generates a level 0 backup.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/backup.112/e10642/rcmcncpt.htm#BRADV89500
Thats means wich RMAN run (automatically) level 0 first after finish level 0 backup RMAN run level 1 backup (i.e Two Backups). This seems right.

  • Relationship between db_flashback_retention_target and fast_recovery_area

    Hi to all
I was doing a test on Flashback Database on my Oracle 11gR2 and I would like to seek clarifications on the relationship between db_flashback_retention_target and fast_recovery_area. Here are my current settings below:
    SQL> show parameter db_flashback_retention
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    db_flashback_retention_target integer 60
    SQL> show parameter recovery_file_dest
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    db_recovery_file_dest string L:\app\amosleeyp\fast_recovery
    _area
    db_recovery_file_dest_size big integer 20G
Here come the question. I know that the db_flashback_retention_target parameter specifies the upper limit (in minutes) on how far back in time the database may be flashed back. I did a testing and below is the sequence of events.
    DELETE FROM SCOTT.EMP WHERE ename = 'KING'; -- *12:13pm*
    FLASHBACK DATABASE TO TIME = "TO_DATE('2013-03-25 12:12:00','YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS')"; -- *1:30pm*
    Select count(*) from SCOTT.EMP where ename='KING'; -- *1:31pm*
    COUNT(*)
    1
From this simple test, I was able to flashback database to more than 60minutes ago despite my retention window being set at 60minutes. Is this due to the reason that I have a huge db_recovery_file_dest_size of 20G? Thus, I am able to go back in time for more than 60minutes? Thanks for the sharing.

    Hi,
So do you mean that the retention target can be at about 59,60,61minutes or more depending on the fast_recovery_area space? So it actually fluctuates ~ ?No it does not fluctuate. fast_recovery_area is just a storage area for multipurpose use for backup, backup copy, archived redo logs and flashback logs etc, so don't confuse it with flashback retention.
flashback retention time is the time which Oracle will always ensure you the flashback of database. If set to 60 minutes, it means you will certainly be able to flashback your database atleast 60 minutes.
If your fast recovery area is free, Oracle will not delete flashback logs (and you might be able to flashback to even several days if flashback logs have not been deleted from fast recovery area). It will only delete flashback logs if fast recovery area has small space left in it.
Only when I set the guaranteed restore points , then it will always store at 60 minutes?See following for this concept
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/backup.112/e10642/flashdb.htm#autoId8

  • Extending DataFinder to include Non-Data Entries and Relationships Between Entries

I am trying to create custom data centralization and management software for our lab with DataFinder Toolkit.  In addition to storing data from data acquisitions, I want to be able to store additional information with the data such as images, pdf files, word documents that can be easily accessed after finding the data.  My current idea is to handle external files by storing the filepath in a property of an object vs trying to store the data itself in the datafinder database.  My code would know how to open these files so the user can see them with external software or a custom labview app.
I also want to be able to store non-data objects such as an object that describes a piece of test equipment or a sample through properties and external files.  Images and documents are again important here.  And then create relationships through unique barcoded IDs that are a property in the datafinder entry.  So not only could I look at the data, I could find information about the samples and lab equipment. Or anything else we think needs to be saved.
The code I am writing around DataFinder would be in charge of maintaining the unique IDs and know how the relationships between those IDs work to generate the proper queries. Like a 'Get Test Equipment Used' button next to a search result.
For the external non-data objects I was going to use Labview code to create a file with all the information about the object (unique ID, properties and external file paths) and create a plug-in so the datafinder will index the file and make it searchable.
Does this seem reasonable? I like the idea of working with one system and having everything update based on adding, deleting and modifying files in a folder. Also, I like the idea of not splitting the data management up into multiple technologies and having to make those work together.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

From the description, you've given the system seems plausible. The non-data elements you discussed when broken down are just additional data to associate with an object.  Storing file paths seems plausible as done in the community example below:

  • Where to find the information regarding relationships between the tables?

I am developing a Windows based app which among other things let’s users view SAP table schema and relationships.
If I use SAP GUI and dig up a bit on say the MARA table I can see that
Material Master (MARA) is related with
    1) MaterialDescription (MAKT) on columns MANDT and MATNR
    2) MaterialPlantData (MARC) on columns MANDT and MATNR
    and so on…
My question is - in which table the information regarding relationships between the tables is stored? There must be a data dictionary table which would be storing the relationships data. Which is it? Note: I will programatically access the table, NOT from the UI.

    Thanks a lot...
I am still working on it, but here are the current findings. DD05S, DD08L and DD08T: The schemas for these tables were very promising for the thing I was looking for. Unfortunately the data within dose not seem to serve my exact purpose.
I found another one DD26S, which has almost 90% of the relationships I wish to explore. Do you know what is it supposed to contain?
Thanks a lot for your help.

  • 2-way Trust Relationship between Windows and Mac Domain

Hi guys I hope someone can help me.
Just a quick explanation of what I am trying to do.
I have an Xserve running OSX 10.5.8 server, which is the OD Master. On that server I’m running Kerio mail server. I have a Microsoft 2003 server running AD.
The problem is I need to run BlackBerry Enterprise on the Windows server as the BlackBerry need active directory to work.
Since I have both system already running, I do not want to destroy my open directory just to get the BlackBerry working.
So what I have tried to do is create a 2-way Trust Relationship between the 2 domains, so the BlackBerry server will talk to the Kerio mail server.
The trust relationship appears to create fine from the Windows server side, but I’m not able to retrieve LDAP information from the open directory server.
The creation from the OSX server starts fine automated but then I had to finish it manually.
Has anyone else here created a 2-way trust relationship between Windows and Mac’s before? Any help on how you did it would be appreciated. Thanks

Have you checked on when the computer last checked in and changed the computer account password with the domain?  When a computer changes it's password, Active Directory will store only the current password and it does not expire.  The workstation
will store both the current password and the previous password.  This for cases when you may restore Active Directory to a point before the computer password change.
To handle this, the workstation will try it's current password, then it's previous.
If you're restoring the workstation to a previous point in time, you may be rolling the stored passwords back too far for Active Directory to accept.  I would only imagine this to be the case a handful of times if you're going back 1-2 days.
    Are you experiencing 100% failure?

  • What is the relationship between the SAP BC and XI?

    Hi Friends,
What is the relationship between the SAP BC and XI?
    Regards
    Sam

    Hi Samuel Melvin ,
The SAP BC is basically WebMethod's product supplied free of charge to SAP customers.
SAP XI is a purchased product from SAP that can be used to integrate multiple systems, you would need to contact your SAP Account rep to discuss licensing issues. You cannot download it for free from sapnet.
It is probably more relevant to discuss the comparison between these solutions based on a specific scenario, but here are some basic differences. Obviously, the foremost one being that the SAP Exchange Infrastructure (XI) belongs to the SAP Netweaver technology suite, whereas Business Connector although bundled by SAP is really a Integration tool provided by Web Methods.
Being a Netweaver solution the SAP XI is central in design and configuration. The SAP XI is really integrated as a required solution for some of new mySAP solutions like SRM. For example, the mySAP SRM business scenario for Supplier Self Services in EBP requires the implementation of SAP XI, the Business connector cannot be utilized to replace this scenario. Although the SAP Business Connector can still be utilized with SRM for all XML based communication. Both mySAP SRM and XI runs natively on the SAP WebAS Server.
The Business Connector is a point to point solution that provides messaging and routing. Currently a number of organizations using the Business Connector utilize it to communicate between its partners using XML based messaging. This can be achieved using SAP XI as well, but SAP's strategy is to utilize XI as a central hub for messaging, routing, and communication between all SAP, non-SAP systems as well as partners. As SAP XI is a relatively new solution, organizations that are looking for communicating with their partners to exchange XML based documents or other point-to-point scenarios can still utilize SAP Business connector.
Initially, when SAP announced the SAP XI, there was a notion that SAP Business Connector would be phased out and SAP XI would be the solution utilized hereon. But SAP will continue to support the Business Connector, the SAP Exchange Infrastructure will remain as the SAP's strategic integration solution. All new and or updated SAP solutions will make use of the XI for all process-centric, message based integration. As upgrades are scheduled and new solutions deployed we'll see the mandated need for XI but currently the only solution that natively requires SAP XI is mySAP SRM 2.0.
It will be interesting to see how organizations that already utilize SAP Business Connector warm up the SAP XI idea. But for the most part they will not have a choice really, as the new mySAP products are going to natively require the use of SAP XI for all process-centric integration between the different SAP solutions. But there is no reason why organizations cannot continue to utilize the SAP Business Connector for all point-to-point solutions already deployed with possibly document exchange and partner integration. Hope this helps.

  • The relationship  between SAP BusinessObjects XI 4.0 and WebIntelligence 6

A lot of APIs in Rebean\ Report Engine Java SDK are disfunctional in BI 4.0 and there is no replacement.
    [Rebean Developer Guide|http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir4/en/xi4_resdk_java_dg_en.pdf] say:
SAP BusinessObjects XI 4.0 release, the Report Engine SDK does not support the following features:
u2022 Drilling in Web Intelligence documents
    u2022 Building queries
    u2022 Document and report editing
    in [BI 4.0 Javadoc|http://help.sap.com/javadocs/bip/40/re/en/com/businessobjects/rebean/wi/package-summary.html]
there are a lot of javadoc with warning  Warning: This interface is no longer functional from the SAP BusinessObjects XI 4.0 release onwards
I found another [Java doc for WebIntelligence 6.x|http://help.sap.com/javadocs/boe/xi/re/en/overview-summary.html].
    http://help.sap.com/javadocs/boe/xi/re/en/overview-summary.html
This documentation covers the REBean Java SDK. The REBean SDK allows you to work with ** documents and explore the metadata layer.
not supported by 4.x,but supported by 6.x?
what's the relationship  between SAP BusinessObjects XI 4.0 and WebIntelligence 6.x?
What version of WebIntelligence  used by SAP BusinessObjects XI 4.0 ?

Web Intelligence 6.x is an old product that is currently out of support.
Crystal Enterprise 10 and BusinessObjects 6.5 were the last separate Crystal / Web Intelligence products just after BusinessObjects acquired Crystal Decisions.  BusinessObjects XI was the successor to both CE 10 and BO 6.5.
It just so happens that the product name was carried over from the BusinessObjects side, but the versioning brand was carried over from the Crystal side.  So 6.x doesn't mean a newer version of ReportEngine.  Timeline:
    ReportEngine 6.x -> ReportEngine 11 (XI R1) -> ReportEngine 11.5 (XI R2) -> ReportEngine 12 (XI 3.x) -> ReportEngine 14 (BI 4.x).
So you can see the evolution of the branding that led to the newest version being branded by the number 4.0.
The internal APIs being wrapped by ReportEngine was changed from 12 to 14, and thus not all functionality was carried over to 14.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Error backup RMAN

    Hello everybody,
Sometimes i got error messages on the backup of 2 databases (Oracle 11g R2). The backups are realised by dataprotector 6.1
When i execute the backup manually through dataprotector everything is fine.
In the event logs of dataprotector i can see the fails backups and there is an action adviced :
"reduce the number of channel to be egal with the simultaneous parameters in the backup"
Here is the rman script used by dataprotector :
    run {
    allocate channel 'dev_0' type 'sbt_tape'
    parms 'ENV=(OB2BARTYPE=Oracle8,OB2APPNAME=SITGTD,OB2BARLIST=Sauvegarde TD)';
    backup incremental level <incr_level>
    format 'Sauvegarde TD<SITGTD_%s:%t:%p>.dbf'

    sql 'alter system archive log current';
    backup

    archivelog all
    delete input;
    backup
    format 'Sauvegarde TD<SITGTD_%s:%t:%p>.dbf'
    current controlfile;
I see only one channel described and the simultaneous parameters is set on 2.
Any one has an idea ? Is there anything i can change in the rman script ?
    Thanks you.

    Hi all,
Can you tell me what are relationships between tcode 'SOLAR01' with 'SOLUTION_MANAGER'? My current system can't assign messages to the issue at 'SOLAR01'. But, messages are able assigned to issues at 'SOLUTION_MANAGERS'. How can it happen? What cause this phenomena happen?

  • How to build "Greater/less or Equal" relationships between two tables?

    Hi,
Is there any straightforward approachs to realize the following kind of relationships between two tables?
    Table1.process_end_date >= Table2.work_start_date and
    Table1.process_end_date <= Table2.work_end_date
BTW, there's no common columns for these two tables to do simple joins (inner, outter...).
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Qilong

    Sure.
Table.SelectRows filters a given table (in this case Table2) based on a function provided as the second argument.
(table2Row) => is the start of our filter function. It defines a function that takes one argument, called table2Row. Each row of Table2 will be passed to this function. If the function returns true, the row will be kept. If the function returns false,
the row will be filtered out.
The right hand side of the => is the filter expression. Because we're adding the custom column to Table1, we can reference a field in the current row of Table1 using square brackets (e.g. [process_end_date]). To reference the fields in the current row
of Table2, we have to index into the table2Row variable passed to our function (e.g. table2Row[work_start_date]).
    Hope that helps.

  • How to visualize relationship between templates and instanciated pages?

    Dear all,
I built about one year ago a complex site using DW CS3 templates and nested templates (currently using CS4).
I would now like to modify this site, but cannot remember the nested structure I defined between my various levels of nested templates, nor what instantiates pages derive from what nested template.
This is probably obvious, but I cannot seem to find a way to visualize the relationship between the nested templates:
    - what templates is the parent of what nested template?
    - what page derives from what nested template?
I have already spent two hours reading various help pages... nothing... How can this be done?
    Thank you in advance,
    Regards.
    Bernard

The easiest way that I know of is this:
Go to a page that is based on a template
In Code View, select the beginning of the Template call code at the top of the Head, e.g. <!-- InstanceBegin template="/ (use only this fragment to get a list of the entire site pages that are based on templates)
Search (Ctrl-F) Entire Current Local Site, Source Code, Find All
The Results Panel will then display all pages that carries that code
To save this list as a file, click the disk icon that appears two down from the flippy triangle on the left side of the Results Panel
This will give you a list of all pages based on Templates, and will also indicate...in the "Matched Text" column of the Results, the Template that is in use for each page.
You will notice that the files are listed out in alpha order, root folder top level first, then successive folders, including the Templates folder. Listings of the Templates folder show the Nested Templates and, to the right, the Templates they are based on.
This is not a one-button solution, but should serve.
A suggestion for your future Templates and Nested Templates is to be very explicit when you name them, for instance, "masterTemplate", "indexTemplate.dwt", "innerTemplate.dwt", "galleryTemplate.dwt", as suits your site.
When I prepared a site for use with Contribute, every page was slightly different, and I controlled variations by making different Nested Templates. I ended up with practically one Template per html page, but it was easier to control the client's Contribut-ions that way.
