Release Microphone on device

After using the mic in an AIR for Android app, I get audio errors in other programs such as the browser.
If I try to use speech recognition for example, it throws me an error.
If I close the AIR app, then all is good again.
I am assuming the mic is still being used by the app and that is the reason for the error.\
How can I release the Mic without closing the app?
If this is indeed the issue.

You can install either the default debug or release builds on your device. This is quite useful if you are benchmarking the performance difference of the various compiler optimization settings that differ between debug and release builds. You can use a build specific #define to trigger an #ifdef in your info/about box code to help keep identify which build you are testing on the device, if so desired.
Usual practice is to sign the distribution build such that you cannot test on the device, but the only difference should be in the signing, not the compile.

  • Releasing a captured device

    hi,
i think this is a new question to the forum - so take it as a challenge.
i have an applet that grabs a frame from a webcam and uploads the image to the server.
after the image is sent, i close the applet window ( a pop up window).
because the applet window is a pop up window, my webcam device remains busy, and when i try to reopen that pop up from its parent window, i get a device busy exception.
is there a way to ask the CaptureDeviceManager to release the captured device?
    Thanks.

If your webcam is not listed in the CDM, there are 2 options:
    1) Your webcam never has been in the CDM. You need run jmfregistry to configure it correctly in JMF.
    2) You are using the webcam, so you have created a datasource to it. You only need is disconnect the datasource: ds.disconnect();
Good luck and sorry for my english

  • Can I make Pulseaudio release the ALSA device?

    Hey guys,
Is it possible to have pulseaudio release the ALSA device when there is no sound playing through PA?
Alternatively, is there a way to tell PA through D-Bus to release the device? (Based on this documentation it appears like it's possible)
I'm using XBMC on my HTPC and am using PA so I can stream audio from other devices to the HTPC so I can listen to them on my nice HTPC speaker setup. However if I want to use Bitstreaming / Passthrough audio with XBMC, the ALSA device cannot be in use. The problem is PA seems to keep the device open no matter what.
    Any ideas?

As far as I can tell, pulseaudio already does this automatically however, if you want to force it to release, the following should work:
    gdbus call -e -d org.freedesktop.ReserveDevice1.Audio0 -o /org/freedesktop/ReserveDevice1/Audio0 -m org.freedesktop.ReserveDevice1.RequestRelease <release priority>

  • Files hanging in print queue. Reboot seems only way to release to print device

The tech from the Windows Forum suggested I should post my problem here because you folks have better expertise.
My OS is Win 7 Pro.  Have three output devices. Two hang files in the print queue. Third is an early 90's vintage HP Laserjet.  Works flawless.
All devices are connected to our ehternet and Dell server.  Other users do not experience the problem my desktop unit suddenly has encounted.
    1.  Ricoh Model C5501 with Fiery (Had on the network for two years, no problem until recent.
    2. No hardware or softwware changes, although the problem started happening after a late December or Early January Windows update.  Only thing I know . Coincidence? Maybe
    3. Computer is on a domain network
    4.  Sometimes I get a message out of the system tray that tells me the document failed to print, but there is no message number.  Other devices no message at all.
The files just fail to print or released from the print queue.
I can open the print queue and delete the files or cancel printing without a problem.
Tried stopping and restarting the print spooler.  No help. Files still in print queue.
Re-booting the computer will release the files from the print queue.  That has been my only dastardly work around.
Could my print spooler files be corrupted?  Could a Windows update have changed my environment or written a file to cause this scenario?

    Hi Robison,
Could you please tell us what update have you installed recently? since this issue only occurred after installing this update, Maybe something installed in your system conflicts with it, in order to find out whether this is a culprit, I suggest you uninstall
    this update for a test.
Plaese also keep the latest drivers for the printers or just reinstall the drivers.

  • How to release the capturing device

    Dear helper
I have developed an applet for video conference. I stored it in tomcat server. The client browsed a parant window and click the button, javascript window.open() will open another child window for the applet. In the first time, the applet was working normal. While I closed the child window and clicked the button again, the child window could not init the applet. I suspected the capturing device was not been released. As I closed the parant window and re-open it and then click the button, the applet worked properly in the child window.
Would you please let me know how to relesae the device while i close the child window without close the parant window. I checked the applet code, the disposal code had be added.
Thank you for your advise in advance.

    Hi Indu,
Have you already thought of moving such "outsorted" devices to a special stock? Alternatively you may choose to allocate a special (user-) status(for example, BLOCKED)  to the device/equipment. This also will also prevent a further usage of this device.
    Kind regards,
    Fritz

  • X201: No builtin microphone in device manager?

I just recently got my x201. In my device manager, I cannot find the microphone in the device manager. Only the Conexant 20585 Smartaudio HD and intel display audio show up. Also, in control panael->sound->recording, the only item that shows up is "external microphone." I have the driver 4.95.48.50. I am unable to use the builtin microphone at this point. Can someone help me? Have I overlooked something?

    Hello mate,
Try Fn+F6 and go to audio defaults and settings. Try to see if your internal microphone is listed there.

  • Flash Player 10.1 Not Releasing Audio Device

I recently installed FlashPlayer 10.1 on a Sun SPARC Solaris 10 system.  The new version of the plugin does not appear to be releasing the audio device when a video is terminated by navigating away from a page.  However, if I completely exit the Firefox 3.6.6 browser that appears to have the device locked, then it is freed for use by another application.  I never experienced this problem with past versions, but it is now happening repeatedly after the upgrade.  Any suggestions as to what might be wrong and is there anything I can do to improve the situation?  Thanks.

Hi, Sometimes the update of the Safari browser disables the Shockwave Flash plugin. Look into the HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins/ directory and see if you have: Make sure it is Enabled.

  • LabVIEW 2013 13.01f2 64 bit appears not to release USB device

As I attempt to migrate  to 64 bit version I have a problem where it appears (for a lack of a better word) LabVIEW does not release the USB device properly when I programatically turn the power off for the USB device I am using (a spectrometer).  This software works fine on the 32 bit version.  The ONLY way I can get my device to work is by exiting either the EXE or the LabVIEW development system.  Upon "wakeup" that is powering up the device, the DLL calls partially work, don't report errors but the device will not function properly.  This a bit of a gray area since the company who wrote the DLL does not support the LabVIEW part very well and their example code works, but they don't power cycle the device.
Wish there was some sort of purge or release function.  I have looked at the Know issues and I also put in a service request with NI.
If I don't get a fix for this I will have to abandon the sleep mode code.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Was there a compelling reason to migrate to LV 64-bit?  Were you feeling constrained by the 4GB memory limit?  That would be one reason I would switch.  (The other is if the equipment I was controlling only had 64-bit dlls). LV 64-bit has only limited support compared to LV 32-bit.

  • HP G60-554 Microphone Problem - Inaudible sound w/ incredible static

I pre-ordered this computer before it was released on Thursday of last week. I noticed on Saturday that the microphone was completely inaudible due to a massive amount of static that drowns out the voice. I called HP and we discussed the issue over the phone and after letting the representative hear the recorded sound, he suggested that I return the laptop to Futureshop and get a replacement.
I picked up my replacement today, and to my horror, the microphone issue still exists. The sound driver has been uninstalled and re-installed, it has been updated, and the microphone boost has been tried at all levels.
    I'm desperate for some help.
    Thank you.
(PS: The laptop is Windows 7 with Coexant Pebble High Definition SmartAudio)

Right-click on appropriate internal microphone audio device and select Properties .

    Hi,
This could be driver issue. Please contact the manufacturer to ask for the latest driver for your Webcam in Windows 8.1, and reinstall it to check the results. If there is not, we need wait for the updates from manufacturer.
Meanwhile, to use webcam, we need to get it properly set.

  • USB devices disappear after using Apple TV

When I Option-Click on the Sound icon in my menubar, all of the USB microphone/headset devices show up. It's how I switch from headset to headset.
However, if I use my Mac to play itunes through my Apple TV, all of those USB devices disappear from the menubar's Sound Icon. And none of them work: sound comes only through my computer speakers.
Restarting the Mac doesn't fix it. The only fix I've found so far is to completely unplug the Apple TV (to end the wifi signal), and then restart the Mac. This makes all of the USB devices appear again, and are all chooseable.
    Anyone else see this behavior?
I'm running a "mid 2010" Mac Pro tower, GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, and 10.9.1

I get this all the time w two ATV on the same wifi network.
First called "Apple TV", the second called "Living Room".
I see on ipad and iphone "Apple TV (2)" as one individual item. It looks like if finds "Apple TV" then finds the second one, but aggregates it into "Apple TV (2)".
Randomly, it will sometimes show two seperate ATV links in the airplay options, then revert back to "Apple TV (2)" as one option in airplay.
Is definitley a bug in airplay software.

  • H7000 Bluetooth headset - No audio from microphone in Windows 8

Recently I bought a new HP H7000 Bluetooth headset. After I successfully paired it with my laptop (HP EliteBook 8470p, running Windows 8 and the Broadcom Bluetooth driver downloaded from Broadcom's site), I can hear audio from the headphones, but the microphone part doesn't seem to be functioning, it doesn't pick up a signal no matter how loud I speak.
When trying the same headset on the same laptop running Windows 7 SP1, the microphone is working perfectly.
In Windows 8, the Headset Microphone is Enabled in the Sound settings' Recording devices, and is set as Default Device. The Internal Microphone Array device (the laptop's built-in mic) is picking up audio no problem, so that part of Windows 8 is functioning properly. So there seems to be no issue with any of the settings, I went them through several times.
It's just the H7000 headset's mic under Windows 8, that is having the problem.
Anyone met this scenario, or even have a fix?

I managed to narrow it down to the Broadcom Bluetooth chipset driver in Windows 8.
Finally I ended up disabling it, and buying a USB Bluetooth micro-dongle with an Atheros chipset. With this, the headset works fine.
It is still ridiculous, to solve such a problem with additional investment, but this is not HP's fault it turned out.
I'll try to contact Broadcom's customer service, and keep an eye open for any Win8 driver updates on their support website.
