Remote app on ipad2 restarts if i change apps
So, i have not been able to find anything regarding this problem so far.... Basically, while using the remote app on my ipad, if i leave the remote to go to another application, or the ipad sleeps, when i re-enter remote i have to find my way back to where i was ( listed items start back at the beginning of the alphabet, etc. rather than what I had been playing or looking at.). I realize there is the now playing button at the bottom right of the screen but that takes you into that particular album only - not artist, etc.... Is there any fix for this? Thanks! Any help would be appreciated because this is really annoying!
"More" is working - my mistake.
I thought Speakers must have been in the "More" menu, but I was already seeing the More menu with its Audiobooks, TV Shows, and whatever isn't in the row of icons at the bottom of the screen.
So after a few hours' break, the answer became obvious: Press & hold on the Now Playing screen (the album cover of the current song) to pop up the Speakers menu. (On the AppleTV you hold down Menu when a song is playing to get to the speaker options, among others.)
I've got 2 Airport Express units with speakers attached, so with those and the ATV itself the Speakers option brings up 3 sets of speakers that can be turned on or off.

Purchased a new Apple TV and the remote double clicks each time I press the button. It worked fine during set up and for the first two days. I have since moved it and this problem started. Restarted,reset,unplugged,changed remotes, no change. Latest software update. This is really annoying. iPhone remote app works just fine. Any suggestions?
That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it... -
Mail.app hangs or crashes whenever making changes in it
As the subject says, Mail.app will hang for a very long time and/or crash (making a force quit necessary) whenever I make any change in it.

I switched to Mail.app from Eudora in January and this behavior has pretty much always been there, but lately is getting worse. I have 3 POP accounts that I imported to Mail after first using Eudora Mailbox Cleaner. The import went fine, no problems encountered.
Counting sub-folders (mailboxes) in all 3 POP accounts, there are hundreds of folders and 10's of thousands of emails altogether.
Normal email functions for sending and receiving all work fine, but if I make *any* change within Mail, i.e. change a preference or try to add a new mailbox, or move a mailbox from one folder to another, Mail becomes unresponsive (spinning beach ball) for at least 5 or 10 minutes, at which point I now give up and do a force quit because the few times I've let it go longer it just keeps chugging away. The odd thing is (odd to me at least) that when the beach ball finally quits spinning, or I force quit and restart Mail, whatever change I was trying to make is done, and everything returns to normal until the next time I want to change something.
I'm getting ready to upgrade to Lion, and I know a new version of Mail will be part of that, so I'd like to get this resolved first so as to not just pass it along or possibly make something worse with Mail in Lion, unless perhaps just doing the upgrade to Lion will somehow "fix" whatever the issue is.
Thanks for any information/advice.Well, I found what was making Mail.app choke. A MacInTouch post proposed deleting the file named "LSMMap2" in the Library>Mail folder. I did that, and now everything is fine. LSMMap2 is related to junk-filtering, and in retrospect I see that all the messages that mail.app choked on were the sort of ones it normally thinks are junk.
(I turned off junk filtering as well. No one said that you had to turn it off to make this work, but my email provider has a good spam filter already, so I decided not to complicate things.)
Please note that, if you do this, your Mail.app junk filtering will be reset -- that is, it will forget whatever you taught it when you marked messages as spam or not spam. (The descriptions of what has been declared junk and not-junk are stored in LSMMap2 and LSMMap.) So you might want to just drag it to the desktop to start with, instead of deleting it straight-off, in case it is not the culprit after all. -

Connection Errors to Remote Desktop from OSX after Domain name change
We have an issue using Microsoft Remote Desktop from Macs in our school. All was well until we changed the domain name of our RDS servers and installed a new wildcard certificate. Connections work perfectly in Windows 7/8 and also iOS on iPads, but we cannot
get any Macs to connect having tried OSX 10.7 and 10.9. The error message says the connection failed to load but seems to add a spurious end to the connection string - TS/en-US/Default.aspx - but we cannot trace where this is being picked up.
We can get to the site in a web browser and sign in to receive the "browser not supported" message in Safari so traffic is obviously getting to the severs.
Has anyone else had a similar issue? We have spent days poking around with DNS etc but can't seem to make any progress here.Hi Jeremy,
I have tried removing connections and also re-installing the App. We have been using this App since January with no real issues until we made our domain name change - I really don't understand why it works fine in Windows and iOS but not OSX. We are doing

IPAD2 - When i update my apps i get error message 1004.

I have powered off and retried - still fails to updateThis seems to work for some users ...go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Cache. Restart the iPad. Hold down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and slide to shut down. Hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears to power up again.

TS1368 my ipad2 is unable to update apps.
Hi, my ipad2 is unable to update apps. When i tap on the update icon I get the message, "unable to connect to itunes store". But i can still go to itunes and download new apps or search my apps and update individually.
Try logging out of your account on the iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if it then works.
If that doesn't solve it then what has worked for some people is going into Settings > General > Date & Time and change the date to a few months in the future and then re-trying -

- Is you EJB and EJB-Jar file name the same. If so, please change it and you would not see the exceptions of GDS025 which may resolve your issue. -
Unable to change APPS password using FNDCPASS
Hi All,
Having issues with changing APPS password using FNDCPASS utility. Trying this on Windows 2003 with 11.5.10.2 VISION instance.
The command given is:
FNDCPASS apps/apps 0 Y system/manager SYSTEM APPLSYS WELCOME
Here is the text from the log file:
APP-FND-01502: Cannot encrypt application ORACLE password
Cause: Application Object Library was unable encrypt your ORACLE password.
Action: Contact your support representative. (ORACLEUSER=APPS_SERV)
Not sure how to resolve this issue. Any help, pointers are appreciated.

JagsIt worked. Thanks a lot for the pointers. Never expected that the UTF8 would be an issue for changing the APPS password.
What I did to resolve:
(1) Stopped all Oracle windows services
(2) Updated the NLS_LANG value(all appearances) in registry to WE8ISO8859P1
(3) Started Database Listeners
(4) Executed FNDCPASS
(5) Updated WDBSVR.APP
(6) Updated CGICMD.DAT
(7) Updated concurrent manager passwd using CCMSETUP
(8) Updated the NLS_LANG value(all appearances) in registry to UTF8
(9) Restarted all Oracle windows services -
I bought the ilife '11 iphoto upgrade. It was supposed to update my library. It has been 2 days and it is still loading. I have tried restarting with no change. Please help!

Most Simple Back Up
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex:
Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate

Anyone seeing this issue? Advice re how to fix?
My iphone mail app regularly requires restart to get mail flowing. That is it is running (doesn't crash) but will at time just stop getting email updates. I then have to force close the mail app (i.e. kill it) and then restart it. After restarting it the mail flows again.
Notes:
a) I do connect to Gmail for my mail - I'm using the IMAP facility for gmail currently (i.e. not the "Exchange" method)
b) I do also have the Google "Gmail" app running on my device too
c) on iPhone 3GS, latest version of IOSI have this same problem too. I have both a hotmail and work Microsoft Exchange account setup on my iPhone and have intermitent issues with both. Sometimes the hotmail push works, but my work email doesn't push, other times it's backwards, and sometimes neither work. I can't figure it out. Usually restarting the app (closing out of the multitasking bar), and/or going into settings and disabling the affected mail account works. And to top it, I have an iPad, I'll hear the mail chime go off on my iPad, expecting it to go off on my phone....and it never does, not until I manually fetch it.

Can the new pre installed apps in iPad 2. Like garage band, iMovie be sync back to i tune, and then sync these new apps from ipad2 to the old iPad 1?

If you have installed GB and iMovie on the iPad 1 and synced using iTunes, just sync the those apps to the newer iPad with iTunes. No re purchase necessary with the same iTunes account. -
Whenever I try to open an app my ipad restarts itself, how can I fix it?
I turned by ipad off then back on and after that, whenever I would try and open an app, my ipad would just restart itself. I've reset the system but it still won't work, what should I do?
Restoring is a standard troubleshooting measure if you experince problems with your device. Restoring will return you iPad to factory (out of the box) settings.
What you did (holding the sleep and home buttons, wait for the Apple logo) is what most users refer to as a reset but I just wanted to make sure that was what you did.
Try this - but I don't think it will help. If the App Store app is working - Download any free app. It doesn't matter which app - just pick a free one and download it to the iPad. See if that resets the iPad and if the other apps will start working without the iPad restarting.
If that doesn't work or if the App Store app will not work either, you may have to restore your iPad. Read this article for information on restoring your iPad.
