Remote wont work, even with firewall off, help!

Tried about everything I could find and it still doesnt work! Please help!

I had the same problem. I tracked it down to bonjour was not running on my mac. Once I manually started it everything started to work. I think remote works off of bonjour so if it is turned off or disabled remote won't connect to your itunes. Hello alex103, You might try to boot the system and press the key to run the hardware diagnostic test and see if you can confirm a hardware failure.
My suspicion is the hard drive may have failed.

My bbm wont work anymore with wifi.. help!

Hello I have had my blackberry for the past year and I always use my wifi connection at home when my free Internet runs out, it has always worked perfectly. But today, for no reason it isn't working? I have restarted my phone, taking out the battery, tried anything I could think of and it's still not working. I really miss my bbm so is there anything you think might fix this problem? also just incase this helps you i put in my mothers sim card into my phone yesterday when i was going out because i had no credit and she did so it allowed me to have bbms and ever since i came home and put my sim card back in my bbms havnt been working with wifi.

i cant login anywhere as all my passwords are saved in firefox, i cant even access teh firefox preference to get my password, it's so sad

You likley have a corrupted Firefox preference or other support file in your User/Library folder.
Programs load these files from the user account to adjust to user specifications, instead of having multiple copies of the same program on the machine.
So when you reinstalled Firefox, it reinstalled the progrma only and the user support files remained from before.
To prove this point, use System Preferences to create another Admin account and log into it, Firefox should run like a charm.
To remove the Firefox support files from the problem user account your going to need to locate these files and delete them one at a time and try FF again and again.
The first one you shoull try is your FF .plist file located in your User/Library folder.
Clicm on the Finder and use the Go > Go to Folder and paste this
~/Library/Preferences
and press Go.
Now scroll down until you see the Firefox or Mozilla .plist file and Trash it, quit and restart Firefox, it will recreate the preference file with default settings you will have to reset it.
Next run through the list of fixes #1-13 here before proceeding.

If you need help deleting other FF files, download the free Easy Find from MacUpdate.com and search for anything "Mozilla" or "Firefox" in your User account only and take your chances you hopefully won't delete your password file in the process.
You should have site passwords written down someplace and locked up tightin case you need them, a computer isn't totally safe and reliable.

Before beginning the download, try temporarily disabling the antivirus, anti-adware, anti-spyware, and any other anti-whatever that is required and is running with that secure OS.

BTW- Your profile shows you have iOS 6.1.4 installed. The max iOS for an iPad is 6.1.3. iOS 6.1.4 is for iPhones only.

ATtempt to power off your device and power it back on, if that doesn't work reset all settings should resolve it for you

my Atv3 is due for an update and ive tried several times to install it but although it downloads it never finishes installing and tells me that it wasnt possible to update and to try another time. I try every other day and it only inches forward in the progress but it never completes the installation. I was tired of waiting and I decided to keep on trying in a period of time one night until it would finally install, that never happened and Im not sure what is going on but the remote stopped working with the atv3 and when I press a button the box light flashes several times but does nothing, ive disconnected it and left it that way for over 24 hrs, ive disconnected everything (tv, internet etc) and nothing. Thanks restoring and restarting didn't fix my problem - i have started it fresh and still it doesn't work. Basically I press ONCE on the remote, after the machine has not had any commands for 10 minutes, and the cursor skips from one end of the menu to the other - so I can't choose network or update software etc - I sometimes manage to stop it randomly in the middle of the menu if I press on a command in the middle of the cursor skipping all the menu steps...not sure what the problem is but I have basically not used my brand new apple tv since I bought it for that reason! I should call Apple support I suppose! grrrr hate wasting time with stuff like this!

Ipod Touch 5G- WiFi is very slow or won't work, even with 3 bars and stood next to the hub. Is there a problem with iOS 6.0.1? Any one know a way to fix it?

Even with 3 signal bars on a 11mb/s connection. It takes more then 3 mintues to load Google fully!
It works fine loading one page then goes back to being slow or no excitant. It seems to start working again after using speed test.
At first i thought it was the case but after removing it there was no difference
I have tried every thing i could think like:
1. Turing it off and on again
2. A complete restore and backup. (Done this about 3 times)
I'm not sure if the new iOS 6.0.1 up date has caused this as it seemed to work fine for about a week after.
Any help would be appreciated!

I saw another topic on this but it was a couple of months old. Last month I purchased a ipod touch 5g. It runs great except the speedtest tops out at about .3 mbps down and 5 mbps up. I don't understand what is going on. All my other wifi: Macs, ipod touch 4, ipad 2 & 3, etc work fine and get great speed of 9-15 mbps down and 5 mbps up. I can barely watch an Amazon video. Sometimes it goes fast but that is few and far between. I have tried resetting the network on it. I adusted my router for all the recomendations by Apple.
It was suggested to remove the security on the router just to test it. I did that but it made no difference. This happens whether I'm close (10' or less) or farther away. Is there something I'm missing or do I need to return it?
I keep seeing something about iOS 6.0.2 but my iPod Touch says I'm up to date at 6.0.1

Can't see remotes airtunes unless i turn firewall off....advice please

Since upgrading to AVG AV & firewall v8 I can't see my remotes speakers unless I turn the firewall off. I have already allowed itunes to connect for all through the firewall.
Does anyone have any experience of using airtunes with AVG firewall & can help me overcome this problem?

AirTunes uses the Remote Audio Access Protocol (RAOP) to stream music to the Airport Express Base Station (AX). RAOP is based on the Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) but with an extra challenge-response based authentication step.
This is a variant of the RTSP, but it seems to be on TCP ports 5000 (control) and 6000 (data) instead of the RFC ports. The iTunes app connects to the RTSP server on 5000, tells it to record an Apple Lossless stream, tells it an RSA key, and then switches to 6000 or 6001 to send the data.
I suggest opening these ports in the AVG firewall to see if this helps.

Remote not working properly with Apple TV...sporadic fuctioning

I have no idea what caused this to happen, but both my remotes (I have one from my MacBook Pro and one from my AppleTV) seem to not work properly with AppleTV. It sometimes works but it is extremely frustrating as it only registers about 1 out of every 10-20 clicks then continues to remember the previous clicks therefore making it essentially impossible to select the desired menu/item. Basically it just seems like it's out of control!
I tested whether it was the remote or AppleTV that was causing the problem by running Front Row on my MacBook Pro and both remotes seem to navigate Front Row perfectly fine. They both act the same way with AppleTV, whether they are paired or not. It seems as though something happened with my AppleTV. This problem occurred randomly, with no specific cause I can think of.
Please let me know if any of you have ever experienced this problem and what your solution was, if any!
I have tried restoring to factory conditions, resetting settings, ran diagnostics, unplugged and replugged it, and nothing seems to be working!
Oh, and I just replaced the battery on one and have tried swapping batteries, etc.

The menus have never been as responsive as they used to since the 2.0 update in my opinion - basically AppleTV seems to cache/buffer remote click if it is busy or perhaps waiting for something to stream from itunes, and when resources become available it suddenly executes all command rapidly which makes it behave wildly in menus.
Usually happens I find after restarting the unit or if streaming drives have gone in to power saving modes and there's a delay while they wake up to feed the AppleTV.

Aluminum Apple Remote not working well with Keynote '09 v.5.0.4

I have an i7 17" MBP and I purchased the aluminum remote to go with it. I do training/presentations for a living and generally halfway through various presentations, the remote will stop controlling them. Sometimes if I restart Keynote it will work again. Sometimes I have to reboot the computer. Other times it just doesn't work at all.
I can use it with my 2007 G4 17" MBP, but I haven't used it enough to see if it develops the same issues as the i7.
I've gone to Preferences > Security > General and tried to pair the remote with the laptop, but holding down the Menu and Next keys at the same time for a few seconds...or minutes... does not bring up the "paired" graphic. I've tried the Menu button and every other key, just to be sure, with the same lack of result.
What the hey? (And, no, "Disable remote control infrared receiver" is not selected.)

I have the white remote stop working on my new 15"MBP occasionally too. Same as you described in the post, it happens pretty randomly. I can get it back to work doing a unpair/pair under system preference panel though. It ***** but better than restarting the computer like you did, try that next time, just takes seconds...
after reading your post I guess I'll give up on trying to buy a aluminum remote. Logitech R400 looks very promising, if you give presentation all the time it might worth the investment.
