Replace text values

Hello.
I have problem with replacing values in text channels and I can't find solution.
I have couple of channels filled with only 2 values: OK and NOK. How can I replace these values with for example 1 for OK and 0 for NOK ?
This replacement is needed for a chart drawing. With current values I can't draw the chart because Diadem don't accept text values as a scale.

Hello Domin,
Here is another easy way to solve this.
Open the Calculator in DIAdem (either in VIEW, ANALYSIS or SCRIPT) - it's in the toolbar.
Type the following line into the calculator:
Ch("New Test") = -(Ch("[1]/Test")="ok")
In this line of code, I am creating a new data channel called "New Test," and I am referencing the channel "Test" in group one in the Data Portal. Make sure to subsitute your chanel group and name. Please note that this is also case sensitive, so use "OK" instead of "ok" depending on how this is written in the data channel
A new data channel will be created that contains "0" (for any line that's not "OK") and "1" (for the lines that contain "OK").
You can turn this into a Script by adding a call to the calculator:
Call Calculate("Ch(""New Test"") = -(Ch(""[1]/Test"")=""ok"")",NULL,NULL,"")
I hope that helps, it doen't really get much easier than that. And this is very fast as well, if you have long channels.

I use METHOD cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_upload to upload my word doc in BINARY and sucessful sent this word doc as attachment with Thomas Jung's FUNCTION 'Z_E_KEG_SEND_SIMPLE_EMAIL'.
However, inside the word file, i need insert varible personnel number p0000-pernr.
*How to pass the value p0000-pernr to data tab (lt_data) which replace symbol text &s_pernr& in doc before created as attachment ? *

I got your requirement. I really dont know the scenario your working on but its possible to do it. There is no direct way to do so, but complexity is in getting to know the Keys dynamically from interface.

Replace Text In SQL Scripts

Hi,
I would like to search and replace text in files when I run .sql files.
E.g. When user provide scripts xyz.sql, they would put table name like
INSERT INTO xyz abc VALUES ('text');I would like to replace xyz abc with mytablename.
INSERT INTO mytablename VALUES ('text');Besides, from the user provided sql scripts, they would be some junk create table scripts, I would like to comment off these junk table scripts.
How could I do achieve the above?
I would be calling user provided sql scripts from my sql scripts using @ ./data/temp.sql
I am using oracle 8i for these. Any help is highly appreciable.

These scripts are provided by customers where they use other database like sysbase to generate sql scripts and customers are not in a position to change or alter the scripts as these scripts are part of the solution provided by vendors(legacy systems)
I have mapping sql script where table name is e.g. xyz abc then use script TS2 and process the customer given sql script.

SQL Replace function: errors if replacement text is 8191 characters

Oracle 10.2.0.3.0 Enterprise Edition
I'm working on an application which has a function to generate emails.
We have a template, which gets filled with data from the database depending on the email being sent.
To do this I'm using the Replace function to replace certain parts of the template with the right data.
It seems that if the replacement text (the third argument to the function) is longer than 8191 bytes the function throws a PL/SQL: numeric or value error.
This limitation doesn't appear to be documented anywhere, certainly nowhere that I can find.
Anyone know of a way around this short of building my own replace function?

I've figured out what was going on.
The database column for the replacement text is defined as a clob, but there is a front end limit of 10,000 characters for the field being used.
When using the replace function I was assigning the value to a varchar2(32767) field in the PL/SQL.
So in terms of datatypes the function call is:
varchar2 := replace(varchar2, varchar2, clob)
If the length of the clob is over 8191 characters it errors.
(Presumably because of the bug mentioned in this thread DBMS_LOB.SUBSTR() returning 8191 characters instead of 32767
I've fixed it by simply changing the datatype of the variable to which the value is being assigned to a clob.

Importing and adding to Taxonomy Text Values

Hi MDM experts,
I have loaded a taxonomy, attributes, attribute texts and linked the attributes to nodes in the taxonomy. I also have products associated to the taxonomy nodes.
I am now importing data to populate products with the values of the taxonomy attributes. Occasionally, there are new values for the taxonomy text of an attribute in the input file.
When I import the taxonomy text for an existing attribute which already has several text values, the new value wipes out all the current values, replacing them with the new value for the import.
For example, the attribute Primary Color has values red, green, yellow. I get a product which has a primary color of blue. When I map using the Taxonomy [Text Values], the only Text value I have left after importing is blue.
I am using the Update all mapped fields option. I tried the Replace option and got the same results.
Is there a way to import additional text values and have them add to the existing list of text values for an attribute? I am on MDM version 5.5.63.74.

Hi Sudhanshu,
You are correct. There is no way to populate an attribute that doesn't exist.
Here are my observations on importing product attribute data to MDM:
Import Manager
1. An input file that has an existing attribute that is not linked to the taxonomy node of the part will map but will not import. The error on import is 'One or more attribute values are invalid'.
2. A non-existing attribute will not map so you can't import data as long as the new attribute is in your input file.
Import Server
1. If there is an exiting attribute in the input file that is not linked to the part's taxonomy node, the import will fail with the error 'One or more attribute values are invalid'.
2. If there is a new attribute in the input file, the file will import. This tells me the import server just ignores the new attribute.
Since MDM does not have the concept of a free-form text attribute, the data for that attribute always needs to be added to the list of values for the attribute. This is what I was having a problem with. I found that if you set the Multi-Valued Update option in the Destination pane to Append, the value in the input file will be appended to the existing list of values for the attribute and then it can be used to populate the attribute on the part. (This requires 2 separate imports to populate the part attribute -- unfortunately).

Adding field text values

Hi,
I am trying to add field text values to Nakisa i.e Personnel Area 01 but I want to display Personnel Area = England. I have found that the text values sit in a transparent table in SAP so I have downloaded it via the schema.
How do I add these values to the appresources??? I can't see how they replace the numeric values???

A table join is the most efficient way but seeing as you already have your table an update statement will work. Something like this example should work for both Oracle and SQL Server:
Update EmpDetailsCombined set EEGroupText = (select PTEXT from EEGroupTextTable where PERSG = EmpDetailsCombined.PERSG)
I hope that helps! If you need more you should google your database type and the type of statement (update) - there is a wealth of knowledge on this subject all over the internet.

How to replace key value with character

Can any one tell me, how to replace key value with character, whether it is possible are not. My present report is displaying below format.

For the above example format i am able to display. But now i want to replace 1 with character value for example. For C100
country is USA at presnt 1 but it should replace with USA.

Batch replacing text (doing translation) in 50+ pretty much identical documents?

Can I batch replace text for several pdfs when translating 50+ identical documents? Only certain values/numbers differ in each document.

Hello kumar,
After another analysis I have to inform you about general concept of
"compounded characteristics".
A compounded characteristic bounds two characteristics. The technical
name is generated by both technical names of the two characteristics
combined by two underlines "__".
An individual text is only available for one single combination of both
characteristics.
Example:

Compounded characteristic "Famous family name" is a combination of
characteristic "COUNTRY" & "ETHNIC". Technical name: COUNTRY__ETHNIC
Values for Country: USA, Australia
Values for Ethnic: Asian, Latino
Possible value combinations with individual text:
USA & Asian; text: "Ling"
USA & Latino; text: "Sanchez"
Australia & Asian; text: "Chu"
Australia & Latino; text: "Garcia"
(Keep in mind the individual text only valid for the specific
combination.)
In analogy to the issue that you reported, you want to restrict this
compounded characteristic. In the window where you select the restrictedvalue (called Selector) you'll see on the left hand side all available
combinations of the characters with an individual text.
You select family name "Chu" and drag'n'drop it to the right side.
Actually you can only restrict the right compounded characteristic. In
our example you would restrict on characteristic "ETHNIC" with value
"Asian". (When you switch on technical names this comes more clear). Thetext "Chu" is displayed in the context of Selector because you selected
value combination Australia & Asian. But in the end it's just a
placeholder(!) for any combination of characteristic "ETHNIC" and value
#Asian#; in our example it could be USA & Asian "Ling" or Australia &
Asian "Chu").
By leaving the Selector the individual text is gone because now the
context is lost between the two characteristics. You have just a
restriction on characteristic "ETHNIC" with value "Asian". An individualtext can't be displayed because the compounded characteristic is not
specified for this restriction.
You're right, it is confusing when "loosing" the text of a restriction.
But accoring to the concepts of the compounded characteristics it
is a correct behavior.

I belive this issue can be resolved by changing the Query proprties for the perticular field.
Kindly check the Field proerties in query designer and ensure that Text is enabled ather than Key.
__Field property check up:__Go to query designer->click onn the field-> Right hand side in properties click on display tab-> select Text in drop down menu of Display as tab.
FURTHER CHECK UP: check the master data avaiulability for the perticular info object, if masterdata is not available, do the text data for txt data availability in report level.

open the text element in the smartform.
on the left corner, we have text editor button.
open that and change the editor (goto-->change editor)
on the new line, give the format as comment line /*. and you can write the comments as required.
such lines doesnt reflect in the output layout.

Replace the value 733.534 in reporting.

I am facing one problem in reporting. I am in BI 7.0 environment.
Reports are export to EP everthing is good,
Issue:
one column displaying value like -733.534
my requirement is don't display this value istead of this should display same flag or colour ....
Root cause:
this fields is calculated in the reporting level, so this is not coming from any data target.
calculation: Days from two different Dates.
eg; offer given date - offer excepted date = Days( resulet)
I calculated by farmula with replacement path.
this -733.534 value is displaying only when any one of the two dates are missed then this value will displaying.
if both dates are in reporting calculated value is displyaing right. (currect result).
can any help me how to replace the value -733.534 by any flag or colour.

You can achieve this by using exceptions in Query desigenr.you can put some colours for those values.

Go to particular variable where you applied filter & change settings like below By default it will be text .
Check once after changing that setting it will show only key in selections.
