Replacement ipod under warranty DOWNGRADED from 30gig to 20gig!

Hi,
I just received a replacement ipod under warranty (it was purchased less then 6 months ago). Everything was great until I realized that they sent me a 20gig ipod - MY ipod was a 30gig. There seems to be no avenue for sending a support request for this. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to contact support to get this remedied?
Thank you
ipod 30gig

2 years ago I got a 10gig ipod as a replacement for my 20gig 3rd generation ipod. called the hotline, they checked it and sent me a new 20gig even before i had to send them the 10gb unit.
Just call the support hotline...they should know which serialnumber belongs to which unit, what size it has and who it was sent to.

  • Does apple fix an ipod under warranty if the inside screen was slightly cracked even though you cant feel the crack because its on the inside.do they fix that????

Does apple fix an ipod under warranty if the inside screen was slightly cracked even though you cant feel the crack because its on the inside.do they fix that????

    ONLY Apple could answer this.
If they determine that the ipod is defective, then warranty will cover it.
If they determine that it is damaged, then the warranty will not cover it.

  • Replacement Nano under warranty also defective.  Will not pay shipping 2x!!

I had a Nano 2nd Gen purchased last December. It had an audio jack problem and needed to be replaced. I do not have Apple Care, btw. I had to pay shipping to get the Nano replaced; about $30, a shipping fee that is a bit ridiculous in and of itself.
The replacement Nano is defective OUT OF THE BOX. It constantly exhibits playback artifacts (chirping sounds) on podcasts and eventually just stops playing the files altogether. I'm an audio engineer by trade, and a pc geek, so I'm pretty clear on this being defective. I've done the restore, tried different files, different bitrates, blah blah blah. It's defective, period.
The real problem is that Apple simply has the automated service requestor page, and I'm again instructed that I will have to pay shipping to get this REPLACEMENT! Nano serviced. Again, this came to me defective right out of the box.
There's no way I should have to pay shipping to get a replacement of a replacement. In other words, for a Nano that cost about $149 new, I'm going to have to end up paying $60 under warranty to get something that works?
What are my options here? Other people must have had this happen to them. I would appreciate some help. Is there any other way to get Apple to waive the replacement of a replacement shipping fee?
I don't want to go ahead with the request for service until I know I can get it fixed/replaced free of charge this time.
If I have to pay again to get a replacement for something that was sent defective, I will just throw the thing in a drawer, and Apple will have lost a customer for life.

Doesn't matter what carrier you go to if it happens again then you'd be in the same place. Carriers are only the middlemen so that you don't have to wait long for device replacements and the guidelines are set by the manufacturer is what is and isn't covered. Your best bet is to pressure Samsung if you believe it's a manufacturer defect.

  • Apple store replaced my under warranty phone with a blacklisted phone??

I took in my phone that was still under warranty for a defect and apple replaced it. At the time I was still under contract with AT&T. I had no problems with the phone until my contract was up and now suddenly started to have network problems. After some research I found that my phones imei was blacklisted. I then contacted AT&T and they were able to find it has been blacklisted dating back to the date of me being granted the new phone from Apple. The rep for AT&T and myself can't figure out how it worked up until now being it's been blacklisted for 4 months nor do we understand how a phone straight from the distributor is marked as stolen. Any advice will help at this point. Also, my warranty is up now so would this effect them fixing there mistake? TIA

Did you contact Apple since you got the phone fromt them? AT&T can't help you.  Apple has the IMEI of the phone they gave you.

  • Replacing phone under warranty

The backlight on my Kin Twom has died.  I went to the store today and confirmed that the phone is under warranty.  However, they said that they could not order another Kin Twom as a replacement because none were available.  Instead, they offered a different phone I am not interested in.  I have read in several posts on this forum that it might be possible to get a certified pre-owned phone.  I would very much like to replace my current phone with the same model, so if there are pre-owned phones available how could I go about getting one?
    Thank you,
    Davide Carozza

I called someone at the Warranty Center.  They gave me the Jest as well. They didn't say if it' was the new Jest 2 or the old one. The old one I didn't like the form factor.  I asked if there was another resolution. She said she could do a manager over-ride and I could renew my contract now and pick out a new phone.  I can't pick a 4G phone or an I phone, but otherwise, I could get a new phone now.
I don't know how they could even consider the jest a compairable phone (they are going by price not quality..how convenient for them!).  Unfortunately anything compairable is a smart phone! I may call back and ask if there is a place where I could send my phone in to be repaired. I have a back-up phone. So I'd be willing to send it in to be fixed.
Not sure if I'm taking the upgrade option. As most phones I"m looking at will cost me something.  Well more than I want to pay right now.  There are free ones, but I don't think I can choose a certified used one to do the swap with.

  • Out of order Ipod(under warranty), changed for a new one at apple store but battery half full? is it normal?

My appel touch 5thG did not work (still under warranty), so at the Apple store, they told us  that they give us a new one, but coming back home, I noticed that battery was half full, so I guess it is not a new one. Is it normal, or should they give a new one? Thanks

    Apple satys:
If you want to store your device long term, two key factors will affect the overall health of your battery: the environmental temperature and the percentage of charge on the battery when it’s powered down for storage. Therefore, we recommend the following:
Do not fully charge or fully discharge your device’s battery — charge it to around 50%. If you store a device when its battery is fully discharged, the battery could fall into a deep discharge state, which renders it incapable of holding a charge. Conversely, if you store it fully charged for an extended period of time, the battery may lose some capacity, leading to shorter battery life.
Power down the device to avoid additional battery use.
    Place your device in a cool, moisture-free environment that’s less than 90° F (32° C).
If you plan to store your device for longer than six months, charge it to 50% every six

  • Do i have to pay replacement price under warranty?

Microphone of my iphone didn't work so i went to apple and as it was under warranty they gave me a new one but now i received an e-mail saying that proce of repair is £115 but amount due is £0 does it mean i have to pay anything?

Likely "Accidental Damage" done to the device, this voids free repair under warranty. Things like broken screen, dented casing, or liquid damage are considered accidental. Call apple and they will have notes reporting the reason for charging out of warranty repair cost. They have pictures too, so lying is not smart =)

  • Apple refuses to repair my iPod classic under warranty

We are a total Apple family who CURRENTLY own 5 Macbook Pro's, one iPad, one desktop Mac, three iPod classics, three iPods and 6 iPhones. Not to mention all of the Apple products we have owned in the past. How much more can we support your product?  We have never had a dispute with Apple over service, but the decision to refuse to repair my ipod under warranty because of damage or misuse is absolutely inaccurate. What is my recourse for disputing this decision?

First of all, you are not talking to Apple here, this is a user-to-user forum.
Warranty is there to protect you from failures in the manufacturing process. It is not there to pay for problems you cause or create, even if it was accidental.
If Apple have determined that the fault with your iPod is due to misuse, or damage, by someone who had access to the iPod after they sold it to you, and not due to a fault in the manufacturing process, I'm not sure there's anything you can do. I supose you could contact Apple again, appealing their decision, but I wouldn't hold out much hope of that resolving the issue, because these things are usually clear cut.
It's not in Apple's interests to refuse you warranty if their product was not up to their own standard, so that suggests that their diagnosis was accurate.

  • Replacement ipod skipping and pausing songs

    Hi,
I paid to have my replaced in january as I had smashed the screen and it was out of warranty but now the replacement continually skips and pauses songs and activates voice control while it is locked. According to apple this new ipod is not under warranty so i would have to pay to get it sent in for repair. I'm currently living in Austria where Apple stores aren't easily accessible so I can't just take it in...Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Does Apple provide a warranty on my replacement iPod?
If Apple provides service under warranty, the terms of the warranty and applicable provisions of law will cover defects in materials and workmanship that arise during the remaining warranty or 90 days after iPod service, whichever provides longer coverage for you. If iPod service is provided outside of warranty, Apple warrants that the replacement iPod will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for 90 days from the replacement ship date.

  • How long is a replacement ipod covered

My 4th Gen 40 GB ipod's HD died last Sept. I had apple care and it was replaced. The replacement drive died a month ago. I went to the apple site and was told it was out of warranty. I sent the ipod to a 3rd party co. and they said it again was the hard drive and it would be $170 to fix.
Question for anybody in the know is- how long are these replacement ipods under apple care good for? My apple care ran out at the end of oct 06.
***** the original lasted almost 2 years and the replacement lasted less than 5 months.
    thanks!
    Mike

It's either the remaining life of the existing warranty, or 90 days - whichever is longer.
    Cheers!

  • I cracked my screen for my touch, it still works but the cracked is big and annoying . I'm still under warranty, will they fix it still?

I cracked my screen for my touch, it still works but the cracked is big and annoying . I'm still under warranty, will they fix it still?
It works fine. Some of my album covers are mixed up though, not sure its because of the fall. help me

It is very unlikely that Apple with replace your iPod under warranty since the warranty covers manufacturing and design defects. A crack screen is usually not caused by a defect.  You can alway make an appointment at ter Genius Bar of an Apple store and ask.

  • Broken screen on 561-373-3900  under warranty ?

replaced screen in january under warranty  its broken again
    can it be replaced ?

If you mean defective and the screen was replaced by an Apple Store and the iPhone is still under the original warranty, then yes, it will be replaced again under warranty. Otherwise you will have to negotiate with Apple on the matter, though they're usually pretty rigid about providing service after the warranty has expired.
If by broken you mean damaged, that's not covered by warranty, but Apple will still replace the screen or the entire iPhone, though you'll have to pay their standard charge for such service.
    Regards.

  • Do You Know Your iPod Battery May Fall Under Warranty Replacement?

I have the extended warranty on my iPod Touch. My batter life was horrible... without wifi just playing music getting just over 3 hours. I also had a bad MBP battery. Called up AppleCare and got case numbers for both after diagnosis. Was taking a long drive to an Apple Store with Genus appt the next day...
My name was called and my Genus re-ran the MBP battery check finding it at fault and went to replace it... I said that I was having an issue with the Touch battery as well. He said "You know that the battery is NOT covered under warranty!". I said NO, if a battery is faulty that it is covered under warranty. I told him that it was THE reason that I purchased the warranty... He argued with me about it and I just couldnt believe my ears... I said that all he had to do was go to the Apple site and find the Touch battery warranty description... He started printing out the MBP battery replacement agreement and we had another video test to run on the MBP... he went in the back to get a DVD.
As I sat there I started hearing all the genus say to every customer with a iPod battery issue say that battery replacement cost blah blah blah... no one was asked if they had a warranty or that if the battery was found to be faulty the battery replacement would be covered. One guy came in with his son saying the iPod was a Christmas present and the battery was only getting blah blah hours... Again, he was told that a battery replacement would cost $$$. It was surely under warranty but he was still charged! ***?
My Genus comes back and runs the video test with a Howdy Doody DVD, UGH... anyways... he goes back to return the DVD and comes back with something in his hand, unwraps a Touch and tosses it my way. I asked him what was up? He says that the original Touch battery is not replaceable so here was a new one. I said OK... thinking, why was he giving me one after arguing with me about the battery NOT being under warranty???
So, I guess it pays off to know your warranty with Apple products as the Genus wont offer the facts. Maybe this was just at the Cleveland OH Apple Store. So, wondering if you know that your iPod battery may fall under warranty and if this is a national fraud by Genus?

Will the data on my iPod be preserved?
No. You will receive a replacement iPod that will not contain any of your data, songs, etc. Before you submit your iPod for service, it is your responsibility to keep a separate backup copy of the data stored on your iPod and reinstall that data. Please do not send any accessories with your iPod as they will not be returned.
Attention iPod touch customers: Before obtaining service, it is important to back up your data using iCloud or iTunes. Apple is not responsible for the loss of information while servicing your iPod touch and does not offer any data transfer service.
Following service your replacement iPod touch may have a newer operating system (iOS) version and you will need to restore your data using the method used to back it up (iCloud or iTunes). As a result, you may also need to update your App Store applications to ensure compatibility with the newer iOS. If you experience a problem with an application purchased from the App Store, check iTunes to see if an update is available or contact the application vendor directly.
