Reply by email out of iCal

Didn't find a solution how to email all attendees from an iCal event. I have the event in iCal and wish to send all attendees an email........ not a clue how to do that.

Marc,
Each event has an "invitees" field. Click on "Add invitees..."

  • Link an email to an iCal event

I would like to link an email message in Mail to an iCal event. Under Lion, the only way to do this seems to be to drag the email out of Mail and into a separate folder on the hard drive. Then drag the icon of that mail message to the url section of the event in iCal. Surprisingly, there does not seem to be any way to make a direct link between a message in Mail and an iCal event. If so, this is quite a major oversight and I am keen to know if others are concerned and/or have any solutions to propose.

    Ben,
Open the event in edit mode. If you double click it and the buttons 'Edit' and 'Done' appear you need to click 'Edit', if the only button is 'Done' it is already in edit mode.
When you drag the email over the grey event edit window a plus icon with a green background should appear. Drag it until the cursor is over the word 'none' next to where it says 'url'.
If it works the text 'none' will change into a hyperlink saying 'Show in Mail…'.
Let me know how it goes.

  • Just upgraded and cannot send or reply to email

I just bought a MacBook Pro (15"/216gHz/2gig ram) and transfered everything via firewire from my old PowerBook G4. When I attempt to reply or forward email, I click on the button (or use the menu) and absolutely nothing happens. I can click compose and get a new email screen, but when I click to send nothing happens. I receive email without troubles from all my accounts. I have no problem sending and replying to email with my old G4 (and the other computers on my Airport network - so it's not the network) and all the preference settings for my accounts are identical. Any ideas or assistance?

In the other thread where you posted about this problem, I suggested you to reset Launch Services. Have you tried that or not?
I’ll repeat it here in case someone else having the same problem comes accross this thread. The following article describes how to manually reset Launch Services — the notes at the bottom of the article also provide information about the side effects of deleting each of the files involved:
    Resetting Launch Services
If you prefer using a cache cleaning utility instead of following the manual procedure described in the previous article, take a look at this other article for general troubleshooting and cache-cleaning procedures. Actually, you should also verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described there:
Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption
The most appropriate utility for this particular problem probably is Tiger Cache Cleaner, but you may also want to consider other utilities, such as OnyX, or Cache Out X, which are free. Whatever utility you choose, be sure to read this first:
Side effects of System cache cleaning
As an example, this is how you should proceed with OnyX:
    1. Quit all applications.
    2. Launch OnyX and enter your administrator password.
    3. Go to Maintenance > Reset and check LaunchServices database.
    4. Un-check any other pre-checked options.
    5. Click the Execute button.
    6. Restart the computer.

  • How to set my "reply to" email address to an email forwarded address

I own my own url, which is my last name, and I want the emails I send from mail to actually look like they came from "[email protected]" and not from the cryptic email name that my dsl provider assigned to me. By the way, "[email protected]" email addresses actually is set up to forward emails replied to it back to my cryptic email address (that is my real dsl email address).
I almost lost myself there, but my basic question is how do I tell "Mail" to send out a different reply email address when I send someone an email.

Does your ISP/DSL provider allow customers to enter a different email address to be shown as the sending address for an email account provided by the ISP?
If so, enter [email protected] in the email address field under the Account Information tab for your DSL account preferences.
This will appear as the sending email address for the account.
If your ISP restricts their customers from doing this (some do since spammers don't provide a valid sending or reply to address with their bulk spam mailings), you can include a Reply To address field for the message header but the reply to email address must be entered manually for each sent message.

  • My mac has started sending yahoo emails out as if they were being sent from an old gmail account I haven't used in years. Why has this just started happening?

My mac has started sending yahoo emails out as if they were being sent from an old gmail account I haven't used in years. Why has this just started happening?

It is important to understand that Mail uses TWO servers, a Receiving Server and a Sending Server.
When you create a new mail message, or reply to a message, the Sender server is shown in the message composition window like this:
That drop-down window allows you to select which of the Sending Servers you previously set up should be used.
In general, once you choose a Sending server, its choice will "stick" for all future replies to messages from that Receiving mailbox.

  • Choosing from which email address an ical invitation comes from

I have several email addresses and would like to choose each time from which email address my ical invitation comes from. Now it always comes from my work email address and I definitely do not want that. I went into my card in the address book and saw that my work email address was the top email address so I deleted that and entered it in again, hoping it would then be at the bottom but no, as soon as I saved my contact card the work email address sneaked up to the top.
How can I choose (without fiddling with the contact card) from which email address my ical invitation comes from?
Hope there is someone out there with a solution

I'm at work so I am not on my Mac but if memory serves me correctly, the email is sent from your default email address which is set in Apple Mail's preferences. Currently, I have my default send address set to "whichever account is selected".
So, in Mail if my MobileMe email address is selected, the invite is sent from MobileMe. If Gmail is selected, Gmail sends the invite.
Give that a try and see if it works.

  • Disappearing eMail out of Mail (in ML 10.8.1)

Having sent an importan eMail out of the Mail ( to several recipients) containing one photograph it went out OK . Since then one kind recipient replied back (sending back my original eMail). Just as well, because when I inspected my specific Sent Box to find the email to forward the part of it to another preson , the eMail vanished . Ther was no record of this eMail anywher . I searched all SENT boxes and none of them contain record of this email. I even searched the Trash in the Mail (just in case ) and it is not there either and trash has not been cleared for some time.
If the kind recipient did not respond to I would have NO RECORD of this communication at all. I think we are dealing with a serios issue with the Mail - I was starting to install Mountain Lion at my clients workstation and I have stopped this task immediately.
This is the only major problem I have to report - but it is serious enough to warn others. I suggest if you are sending any critical eMails , save them immediately as a PDF or print them out.

Yes I do , I have same eMail ( two lots of me.com IMAP accpounts and 3 lots of POP accounts  ) on my Mac Pro, on my MacBookPro ( both on 10.8.1 ) but also on iPhone ( latest version of OS)  nothing changes the only change is move to Mountain Lion . Same preff settings on both machines.
I did go to iCloud to make sure - but the missing sent email is nowher to be seen - it has vanished.
Well we need to monitor this matter closely - lets hope it is one off .
    Very strange indeed

  • Cant reply to emails 10.8.3

Since upgrading to 10.8.3 the machines on our network seem unable to reply to emails, i reset the account which fixed the problem for about 10 minutes. WE have an open email system using imap and latest kerio, 10.7 machines are all fine, anyone else have the problem? To clarify the reply button is not greyed out , you can press it, just nothing happens, same if you right click and reply, and all other methods of replying.
    Thanks
    Rob

Right i think i know whats going on here
Our email system is a blanket imap system whereas everybody can se everyone elses emails within the company, this is done by having a single account on kerio that has a number of aliases that are deemed acceptable email addresses, ie the names of the people that work here, anything other than that is sent to a catchall and deleted,  prior to the 10.8.3 update we were able to reply to any email that came in, even if it wasnt addressed to me, now i can only reply to emails that are addressed to me, joe bloggs in the office can only reply to emails that are addressed to him, i think apple have introduced this as some kind of security measure, i think the time is now for us to have a "normal" email system.

  • Email Out One Way/Returns To Another Email Address

    03/13/15
    Greetings:
My wife is using Mac Mail and has her own GMail address.  She sends an email out from her address and if the person that the email is going to "replies", it comes back to one of our other email addresses.
I have thought about just deleting her email and starting over, but thought I would check here first.
    Thanks for any help provided,
    MBaker

You should have a smtp server in the list specific to each account. If it uses the SMTP of another account, the gmail server will change the name to the SMTP of the account used. That's probably why the reply back to a different address.
The fact that the server you have listed for your wife has failed indicates that there is a problem with the server info supplied for that server. Edit the server for her account and verify that everything is correct. Her email address, her password, server name, port settings, etc. You might also provide a description name so you will know which server belongs to which account.
Also, with an account highlighted, make sure the correct SMTP server is listed in the box and check the box to use only that server for that account.
In Mail's preferences under the general tab, check the box to Show A List of Alternate Servers when the outgoing server is unavailable. That way you will know in the future if the one for that account fails. It will tell you and give you the option instead of picking another in the list.
There are also settings at the gmail site to which you can change a reply to address or add other accounts to another. This is probably not your problem, but you might look and make sure no special settings were put there.

  • 2013, doing migration, can't reply to emails

We're starting a fresh 2013 install migrating from pop/smpt.    I'm using the POP server as a smart host relay, so far there are 5 users in Exchange.  The pop/smtp host forwards email to our domain into exchange and that works fine.
    So here's what's working and what's not
    Inbound : works fine
Outbound using a company domain or internet domain email address : works fine
Outbound reply to an internet domain : doesn't work
It's weird.  If i send an email from my gmail account to my exchange account, i get it.  If i send an email from my exchange account to my gmail account, it works fine.  But if i REPLY to my gmail account from my exchange account, the email
    gets lost somewhere.
If i use the mail flow diagnostic, I get this as the only hit as to what's going on:
Delivery Report for  [company email address]
    Submitted
    4/17/2014 9:41 AM HQEXMB
The message was submitted to [server]
    Pending
    4/17/2014 9:41 AM [server]
Message was received by [server] from [server].
    4/17/2014 9:41 AM [server]
The message has been queued on server [server]
since 4/17/2014 9:41:06 AM (UTC-08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada).
The last attempt to send the message was at 4/17/2014 9:53:48 AM (UTC-08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada)
    and generated the error '[{LRT=};{LED=};{FQDN=};{IP=}]'.
Any ideas what's going on? I don't understand how I can send out a new email to an external mailbox but not a reply, that's a head scratcher.

    Hi,
From your description, I recommend you check the following things for troubleshooting:
    1. When you reply an email, the subject contains "RE:". So please check if there is any transport rule prohibiting these replies. For example, reject emails if subject contains "RE".
    2. Please take your time to collect the SMTP send logs and post them here for my further research. Here is the default location for your reference:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\TransportRoles\Logs\FrontEnd\ProtocolLog\SmtpSend
    Hope it helps.

  • My IBM Lotus iNotes 8.5.3 FP2 WebMail application no longer works to send or reply to emails I need to get Firefox 15?

As described, since I upgraded to Firefox 16.0.1 yesterday, when I access my work WebMail application of IBM Lotus iNotes 8.5.3 FP2, it will not send emails, reply to emails, or attach files to emails. I saw some similar issues posted for earlier versions, but our tech support group will not make changes and say Firefox is not a supported browser environment. So, I need to get an earlier version of Firefox until the interaction problem is fixed.

This is due to a change in Firefox removing the ability to used signed script. The technote below from IBM describes a workaround and a fix is due out in the next fixpack.

    Hi Kgalloway103,
    Welcome to the community!
Please confirm, have you wiped out your device. If you have done so, then you have to re-activate your account.
You may try a battery pull, while device is on and insert battery after a min.
    Thanks..!!

  • No send option after replying to email

I had a pearl for a few years and just upgraded to the curve a few days ago. The problem is I can't reply to emails. After I receive an email I can select reply and type in my response. I then press the menu key and the only options that come up are "help, save draft, flag, Add to:, Add CC,,etc" I can fwd the email and I can send a new email. For some reason I can reply with my hotmail account no problem but not with my gmail account. This all worked fine on my pearl.
    thanks in advance

    Hi there!
    I suggest the following steps:
    1) Register HRT
Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > BBKey (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now
    2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you!

  • Reply-to email not working

I am having an issue where an email is being sent to my users and when they reply, I want it to go to a different email address (we use this functionality for our workflow system). So an email comes in from [email protected] and when they reply, I want it to go to [email protected] The functionality works for some users but not others. If you look at the mail header, you see that there is a "reply-to:[email protected]" in the header, but it's being ignored by some iPhones. This happens to users on iPhones 4, 4s and 5 and different iOS versions (6.1.3 and 6.1.4). I can't seem to find the logic when it works/doesn't work for some.
Has anyone else out there run into the same issue?
    Thank you in advance!
    Chris

If you’re running Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), as your profile indicated at first, you posted in the wrong forum. It would have been more appropriate to discuss this in the Mail & Address Book - Tiger forum. Actually, your profile doesn’t show now the version of Mac OS X you’re running, so please update the Computer Model and Operating System fields on your My Settings’s profile (and click Save), so that this essential information automatically appears in all your posts.
The problem you’ve described is usually caused by some Launch Services cache or preferences corruption that affects the built-in spell checker. The following article describes how to manually reset Launch Services -- the notes at the bottom of the article also provide information about the side effects of deleting each of the files involved:

  • Reply to emails from Iphone

Email received to my I-phone can not be replied to.  I get the error message: " A copy has been placed in your outbox. Sending the message to the server failed." I receive this message regardless of being on wifi, or not.  Thank you for your help : )

What kind of troubleshooting have you done so far? Some of the tips below may assist.
    1. Reboot iPhone
-Hold down home button & sleep/wake button till you see silver apple logo then let go. Try sending email
    2. Reset Network Settings
-Settings - General - Reset - Reset Network Settings - Confirm - iPhone will reboot. Send email out
    3. Delete email account off the iPhone - Re-add the email account, send email out
    4. Check and ensure your SSL settings for outgoing are correct, using proper Outgoing Port, and using proper outgoing server name, username, and password.
    5. Restore iPhone as new. Before restoring please check out articles below
