Report Builder 3.0.5.8.0 using a servlet

hi
I am trying calling the Reports server using a servlet. i need to find if i get a confirmation from the reports server that the report is generated. In which case I would be able to throw the same to the browser.
Naresh

Hi!
1. Make sure no one else has opened the same file.
2. Dont put image on your report.

  • Adding pagination in report build from PL/SQL dynamic content using htp.p

    Hi,
    I have a requirement for which i used PL/SQL dynamic content to build my report and i displayed my report using a cursor and loop by HTP.P function.
    Now problem is I have report with more than 500 rows and I want to add pagination concept for this report.
    How can i do that?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Smith

    To preserve heading on each page for a HTML table you can use the THEADER, TFOOTER and TBODY tags (see example). To force page breaks, try experimenting with these style attributes:
    <STYLE TYPE="text/css">
         tr.breakhere {page-break-before: always}
    </STYLE>
    <tr class="breakhere">Table Example:
    htp.tableopen;
    htp.print('<THEAD style="display:table-header-group">');
    ... your table headers here
    htp.print('</THEAD>');
    htp.print('<TFOOT style="display:table-footer-group"><TR><TD></TFOOT>');
    htp.print('<TBODY>');
    ... your rows here
    htp.print('</TBODY>');
    htp.tableclose;Edited by: crokitta on Apr 8, 2009 2:07 PM

  • Report Builder 3.0 odbc database name using parameters

     I am using an ODBC connection for my Datasource in a report  (MYSQL).
    I have a valid connection for the report using a database name in the connection string  i.e. 'BOE-201402'.
    However I need to be able to allow the user to run the report using different databases.
    I can get a list of the databases as a parameter by setting a dataset using the following
    SELECT `SCHEMA_NAME` FROM `information_schema`.`SCHEMATA` WHERE `SCHEMA_NAME` LIKE 'BOE-%' ORDER BY `SCHEMA_NAME` DESC;
    i.e.
    BOE-201402
    BOE-201401
    I have set a parameter called @BOE_DATABASE from the drop down list provided above.
    What I need to do is before rendering the report is to be able to point the datasource to the database stored in @BOE_DATABASE so that the results that are in the report come from the chosen database.
    I am sure that there is a way to do this as I have done this using ACTUATE BIRT reporting tool which we want to replace urgently with Microsoft SQL
    I would sincerely like to thank any quick response on this matter

  • Using DDE package in report builder 10g

    Hi,
    I use this code in form 10g to edit a ms word and its work properly:
    DECLARE
    APPID PLS_INTEGER;
    CONVID PLS_INTEGER;
    DOCID PLS_INTEGER;
    SYS_DATE CHAR(8);
    BEGIN
    SELECT TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'MM/DD/YY') INTO SYS_DATE FROM DUAL;
    APPID := DDE.APP_BEGIN('C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\WINWORD.EXE',
    DDE.APP_MODE_MINIMIZED);
    CONVID := DDE.INITIATE('WINWORD','SYSTEM');
    DDE.EXECUTE(CONVID,'[FileOpen "c:\bin_test\exp.dotx"]', 10000);
    DOCID := DDE.INITIATE('WINWORD','c:\bin_test\exp.dotx');
    DDE.POKE(DOCID,'BOOKMARK1', SYS_DATE,DDE.CF_TEXT,10000);
    DDE.EXECUTE(DOCID,'[FileSaveAs "c:\bin_test\output.doc"]', 10000);
    DDE.TERMINATE(CONVID);
    END;
    when I put this code in the afterreport trigger in report builder 10g and call the report from form;
    a blank document word is opened withoud any changes as well as the report result in pdf format.
    what can i do to let this code work in report builder??
    best regards,
    Ahmad

    I use this code in form 10g to edit a ms word and its work properlyI very much doubt that. Calling DDE from Forms this way would result in trying to open Word on the <b>server</b>.
    the report result in pdf formatThe report result format is determined by how it is called. Looks like you call it with desformat=pdf.

  • Using Report Builder to make Letters

    I am trying to use report builder to create templates for
    letters and other multi-page documents, the query automatically
    inserts data from a database (the price of something for example).
    Whenever I try to fit the document in report builder it says
    something like "Report compilation error. Report design not valid :
    1. The title section, the page and column headers and footers and
    the margins do not fit the page height. " Is there any way to get
    this text to automaticaly go to the next page instead of just
    giving me an error? A better way to do this would also be great (I
    have templates in .rtf format with bookmarks where query objects
    go)

    Hi Rajan,
    Reporting Services provides two report authoring tools: Report Builder and Report Designer in BIDS/SSDT. Whether you can design an Ad-hoc report based on Web Service data source depends on the version of the Report Builder. In Report Builder 1.0, we can
    only use report model to design a report. In Report Builder 2.0 or higher, we can use the built-in XML data source type that can retrieve data from Web service to design a report.
    The Report Builder 1.0 is available in SSRS 2005. For SSRS 2008, we can upgrade the Report Builder to Report Builder 2.0 by installing the SQL Server 2008 PCU1. For SSRS 2008 R2 or SSRS 2012, the Report Builder 3.0 is included natively.

  • ApplicationIntent and Report Builder

    I have a SQL Server 2012 AlwaysOn AG setup including the read-only intent for a secondary. I setup a data source to point to the Listener with the data source type of Microsoft SQL Server entry to include ApplicationIntent=ReadOnly. The Test connection was
    successful. When I created a new report and added a dataset using that datasource and asks for data source credentials, I specify use the current windows user. I get the error "Unable to connect to data source" with Details - "Keynword not supported:
    'applicationintent'.
    I see that there was a fix for .NET but that seems to apply to XP and 2008R2.
    What wrong?
    I should also mention that I am using Report Builder 3.0 that I had used for 2008 R2 reports. I see that there seems to be a 2012 Report Builder version (I can't find where the version of Report Builder is indicated?). Is that the problem? Can this version
    be used for 2008 R2 reports - backward compatible?

    I am running the 2012 version of Report Builder 3.0. My build is 11.0.2100.60 (installed several months ago). You can find this by opening the filesystem location where MSReportBuilder.exe resides, right-click MSReportBuilder.exe, choose properties, Select
    Details. The File and Product versions are there.
    I don't have a similar SQL server setup to test against so I can't answer the initial question but it won't hurt to install the latest report builder anyway. Then try it again and see what happens. Good luck.

  • Report Builder 1.0 for SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2

    We are trying to implement Ad-Hoc Reporting using SSRS 2008 R2.
    First of all, it is very unhelpful that all SSRS books are for either 2008 or 2012, even though SSRS has major changes in 2008 R2 compared to 2008.
    Our instructional materials indicate that we should build Report Models to abstract out our databases into terms familiar to our business users.
    The problem we are having is the difference in functionality between Report Builder 1.0 and Report Builder 3.0. Report Builder 3.0 is touted as having the modern, ribbon based interface that is supposed to make end-users feel more comfortable.  However,
    all the documentation says that end users are supposed to use Report Builder 1.0 for Ad-Hoc Reporting.  And, it seems, that the reports generated by Report Builder 1.0 are not round-trip compatible with all the other reporting tools for SSRS 2008 R2.
    The documentation we have illustrates that Report Builder 1.0 is nice for Ad-Hoc reporting, because is based on connecting directly to Report Models, and the end users can directly drag-and-drop entities and fields into their reports.
    When we try working with Report Builder 3.0, it seems we must first connect to the Report Model as a Data Source and then build a Dataset query on the Report Model.  Only then are some entity attributes available to be dropped into the report.
    If the user decides another source column is needed, they have to go back, edit the query, save the query, and then drag the column from the Dataset to the report.  This does not seem end user friendly at all!
    We are also concerned that if we train our users on the seemingly soon-to-be-obsolete Report Builder 1.0, and get them used to having direct Report Model access, that at some point we will have to move them to the Dataset-interrupted approach of Report Builder
    2+.  Highlighting this perception of impending obsolescence of Report Builder 1.0 is that in our shop that is starting with SSRS 2008 R2, we cannot figure out how to get a copy of Report Builder 1.0 in the first place.
    We just don't see our end users being savvy enough to handle the steps involved with creating Datasets on top of Report Model Data Sources.  So we would have to build the Datasets for them.  But in that case, what point is there in creating any
    Report Models in the first place if DBAs are the ones to make Datasets?
    As such, it is hard to envision a forward-looking SSRS implementation that has the end user ease-of-use Ad-Hoc reporting that the SSRS 2008 documentation presents.
    What is it that Microsoft actually wants/expects SSRS implementers to do?

    Hi Dan,
    Report Builder 1.0
    Simple template-based reports
    Requires report model
    Supports only SQL Server, Oracle, and Analysis Services as data sources
    Supports RDL 2005
    Bundled in SSRS
    Report Builder 2.0 or later
    Full-featured reports as the BIDS Report Designer
    Doesn't require (but supports) report models
    Supports any data source
    Supports RDL 2008
    Available as a separate web download
    In your scenario, you want to use Report Builder 1.0 in SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2, I am afraid this cannot achieve. Report Builder 1.0 is available in the box in either SQL 2005 or SQL 2008. It is not available as a separate client apps and is
    only available as a click once application.
    Report Builder 1.0
    Report Builder 3.0
    Thank you for your understanding.

  • Report Builder 2.0 User Password Change Issue

    A user changed her password (domain account) this morning and can no longer open the query designer (we are using an SSAS data source) or run a report in Report Builder 2.0.  She can still access the SSRS front end report manager reports with no issue (and she enters her new password).
    When clicking Run for a report in the Report Builder 2.0 the following error message displays:
    The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.
    When trying to open the Query Builder for a dataset in the Report Builder 2.0 the following error message displays:
    An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host
    Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
    A connection cannot be made.  Ensure that the server is running.
    The security log in the applicaiton event log on the report server logs the following with each failed attempt:
    Unknown user name or bad password.
    Three other users have recently reset their passwords and had no issue with Report Builder 2.0.  I am thinking that her password may be cached or saved within Report Builder 2.0 and it keeps using her old password.  I have had the user reboot and uninstall/reinstall Report Builder 2.0 but neither fixed the issue.  It appears after uninstalling that all application data was not removed as recent reports show after reinstalling and I was not prompted for login credentials again.  I had our domain admin reset her password back to what it was before she changed her password and all issues in Report Builder 2.0 went away and she could use the Query Builder and run the reports.  I need to figure out how to let her change her password and have Report Builder 2.0 work though.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Sorry, going to Options > Settings and clicking "Clear all recent item lists" didn't work for me.  My login credentials are still cached, and I'm not prompted to log in, when I launch Report Builder.
    I'm running Win7 Professional, IE10.  I cleared my browser cache as my first attempt to clear the login, but that didn't work.  I even cleared again, making sure to select to clear stored passwords/logins, but that didn't clear it, either.

  • Help with Oracle Report Builder and SQL Server2000

    Hey guys,
    I just installed it Oracle Developer Suite10g with Report Builder and I am trying to use Report builder and wants to connect with SQL Server 2000. The problem that I am running in to is SQL Server 2000 i have is Window Authentication so Does not required to enter user name and password. So how can i connect my report builder to SQL server or is it possible to connect Report builder to SQL server?
    Also, I want to create small practice version of database in Oracle how do i do it? what i mean by that is I installed trial version or Oracle developer 10g from www.oracle.com and now trying to get some knowledge with oracle. Could any one can give me some direction in this matter please.
    Thank You
    Key

    Have a look at the reports help for the purpose header and trailer sections. Here is an exert:
    "Report sectioning enables you to define multiple layouts in the same report, each with a different target audience, output format, page layout, page size, or orientation. You can define up to three report sections, each with a body area and a margin area: the names of the sections are Header, Main, and Trailer. By default, a report is defined in the Main section. In the other sections, you can define different layouts, rather than creating multiple separate reports. If you wish, you can use the margin and body of the Header and Trailer sections to create a Header and Trailer page for your reports."

  • How to check the report builder version from the rdf file

    Hi,
    I have a rdf file but I don't the developer using which version of report builder to develop the rdf file. So, does anyone knows how to check the rdf file is developed by which version of report builder?
    When I try to use the notepad to open the rdf file, it shows the string "ROS.60050". So, does it means that the rdf file is developed by Oracle report 6i?
    Besides, do anyone knows if Oracle report 6i are still offer from Oralce (as I know, the latest verison of oracle report is 11g). So, in case Oralce not offer oracle 6i and I need to buy oracle report 11g, do u know it is compatiable or I need to do the migration from 6i to 11g?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    The ROS version you are seeing in the RDF file does not mean the version where that RDF was developed. I am not aware of a way to check this but something that may help is that when you try to open a RDF developed in a higher version
    of Reports with a lower version of Reports builder the following warning will be displayed
    Warning. Opening a report saved with a newer version of Reports Builder.
    Functionality may be lost. Continue?
    "You tried to open a report with a version of Reports Builder older than the version used to
    create the report. If the report uses functionality unavailable in the older version, that
    functionality will be eliminated from the report.
    Regarding Oracle Developer 6i. This version is not supported any more. Regarding how to upgrade Reports 6i to 11g and what to have in mind during the upgrade please review the following documentation.

    I downloaded the .ZIP file from the Examples page on the otn site. I follow the instructions,
    but when I try opening up any of the files, it creates an error window "can not display window" and the
    whole program zapps out. was anyone successful in running the sample in reports builder?
    do you have to use a PC for this?
    My main problem is:
    Im trying to learn how to create a parameter form on the web. not using the "user parameters"
    and the runtime form.
    ANY HELP ON HOW TO DO THIS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

    hello,
    this example is not quite designed for beeing run in the builder since it calls itself passing parameters. however, you should be able to see the idea behind it by looking at the JSP source code.
    regarding your issue when opening the file, we have never experienced such behaviour but the example was developed on a windows platform. maybe the files get corrupted when getting unzipped. can you open the JSP file in e.g. vi ?

  • SQL Server 2008 R2 - Report Builder 3.0 - timeout using shared data source and stored procedure

    I select the shared datasource from the data source propeties dialog, test the connection and everything is good.
    I add a dataset by selecting "use a dataset embedded in my report" option within the Dataset properties dialog.
    I select the newly added data source, click the "Stored procedure" query type and drop down the list box and select my intended stored procedure.
    the timeout for the dataset is "0" seconds.
    I click the "OK" button and I'm presented with the parameters to the stored procedure.
    I enter valid data for the parameters and click the "OK" button.
    I then get the following error message after 30 seconds:
    The problem is, all of the timeouts, that I'm aware of, have values of zero (no timeout) or high enough values that 30 seconds isn't even close to the timeout.
    I think the smallest timeout we have is 120 seconds.
    I have searched this site and many others and the solutions all involve altering the stored procedure to get the fields into report builder and then revert the stored procedure back to its original form.
    To me, this is NOT a solution.
    I have too many stored procedures that need to be brought into Report Builder.
    I need a real solution.
    Thank you for you time, Tim Caldwell.
    Timothy E Caldwell

    I don't mean to be rude, but really, check to see if the stored procedure can return data rows???
    Maybe I'm not being clear enough.
    The stored procedure runs perfectly fine.
    it runs perfectly fine in the production environment and the test environment.
    I can access the stored procedure in several ways and have it return correct data.
    I can even trick report builder into creating a dataset with parameters and run the stored procedure that way.
    What I cannot do, is to get report builder to not timeout after 30 seconds on the initial creation of a dataset with a Query type of stored procedure.
    I have seen this issues posted again and again and again on may different sites and the "solution" is to simplifiy the stored procedure by creating a stored procedure that has a create table and a select in the stored procedure and that's it.  After
    report builder creates the dataset the developer then has to replace the simplified stored procedure with the actual stored procedure and everything works fine after that.
    HOWEVER, having to go through this process for 70 or more stored procedures is ridiculous.
    It would appear that there is something within report builder itself that is causing this issue.
    The SQL Script included is an example of a stored procedure that will not create fields create a dataset with fields and parameters in Report Builder 3.0:
    USE [CRUM_IT]
    GO
    /****** Object: StoredProcedure [dbo].[COGNOS_Level5ScriptSP] Script Date: 11/17/2014 08:02:26 ******/

  • SSRS Execution Account cannot be used with Report Builder

    Running SQL Server 2012 SP2, I have specified an Execution Account in Reporting Services Configuration Manager as described here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms156302(v=sql.110).aspx
    The article states: "You can specify Integrated Security=SSPI if the database server supports Windows integrated security and the account used for unattended report processing has permission to read the database." I have created a data source using
    the Report Manager Web interface with connection string: "Data Source=<server>;Initial Catalog=<database>;Integrated Security=SSPI" and "Connect using: Credentials are not required" option.
    The Execution Account is a domain user account with db_owner membership on the database in question. When I "Test Connection" in Report Manager, the connection is created successfully.
    However, when I attempt to create a new dataset using this data source in Report Builder, I am unable to connect to the data source: "You have specified integrated security or credentials in the connection string for the data source, but the data source
    is configured to use a different credential type. To use the values in the connection string, you must configure the unattended report processing account for the report server."
    If I change the "connect using" option for the data source to "Windows integrated security" I can successfully create a new dataset and report in Report Builder. After saving the report, I reconfigure the data source for "Credentials
    are not required" and I am able to successfully run the report using the Execution Account.
    Is this a known limitation? The Report Builder cannot be used with an unattended Execution Account configured?

    Hi desmondgc,
    According to your description, you have set the execution account for connecting data source. You can connect data source successfully, but can't create dataset with the unattended account. Right?
    As we tested in our local environment, we encountered the same issue. Even testing connection successfully in Report Builder, it still says unable connect to data source when creating dataset.
    For this issue,  I would recommend to submit it to the Microsoft Connect at this link
    https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/Feedback.
    This connect site will serve as a connecting point between you and Microsoft, and ultimately the large community for you and Microsoft to interact with. Your feedback enables Microsoft to offer the best software and deliver superior services, meanwhile you
    can learn more about and contribute to the exciting projects on Microsoft Connect.
    We will keep you updated if we find something, thank you for your posting.
