Reset portal state

We are securing our portal Books and Pages using ALES ( AqauLogic Enterprise Security)
When the user goes to the portal, they see only the login page and after the user is logged in, rest of the books and pages show up based on the user permissions
Our login is a pageflow controller and I am explicitly redirecting to the portal again.
Still, I do not see any books and pages after the user logs in. I have to explicitly hit the refresh button on the browser to see the books and pages
Do I have to reset anything?
Thank You

<p>The jist of my issue is that I need to reset several books through out my portal to have their default page as active (preferably by resetting their state entirely, as opposed to specifically setting the default page to be active).
</p>
<p>
I was not aware of _nfls=false
</p>
<p>
I searched support for info on it and found your post from 8/20/2003... If I put this in a request, will it wack the state of a control that is not in the optimized tree for that request?

  • Reset portlet state

    Hi,
I use JSR-168 portlets and Spring PortletMVC and I need "reset" button in menu.
It's possible to reset/clear the state (render parameters, portlet modes etc. ) of all portlets on portal when a user clicks on a page-link in the menu navigation?
    thx a lot.

    Hello,
Using strictly the JSR168 API, I don't believe there is a way to reset the state of all portlets on a portal when a user clicks any single link. With the JSR286 API you could do this with events, but WLP does not support JSR286 yet (though the next release will have full support!).
WLP does support events in JSR168 portlets, so you could use that in the meantime; simply have the link trigger an event that all the portlets on your portal listen to, and in their event handler methods have them reset their render parameters and state to whatever defaults you want.

  • Bug - mobile configs in wifi captive portal state

The default behavior for installing mobile config files is to redirect the user back to the webpage they were on upon installation.  However, in the captive portal state, it directs the user back to the profile page in the settings menu, it should go back to the psuedo browser.  I believe this is a bug and not a security feature.

The file found here is the communication between this captive portal and Mozilla Firefox as confirmed working, taken using Wireshark. Probably the Pre browser interprets the javascript code incorrectly.

  • Linking of Public URLS to FIM PORTAL & Registration Portal & Reset Portal

As we all Know we have 3 Portal
    We have
    1) FIM Portal on port-80 :
        Internal URL- http://<appserver name>/IdentityManagement/default.aspx
    2) FIM Password Registration Portal- Port 8080
        Internal URL- http://<appserver name>:8080/default.aspx
    3) FIM Password Reset Portal- Port 8081
         Internal URL- http://<appserver name>:8081/default.aspx
I want these URLs to connect to Public Urls
    1) fimportal.com
    2) fimregportal.com
    3) fimresportal.com
I have tried for FIM PORTAL- Alternate MAPPING USING DNS -- but it's goin to TEAM SITE and then we provide Credentials >> then All SITE CONTENT >> then Microsoft Forefront Identity
    Then we have the portal.
We want whenever user browse "fimportal.com" >> goes to http://<appserver name>:8080/default.aspx  url >> ask for credentials >> Fim Portal.

DNS and pointing it to Public IP.
    FIM Password Reset Portal :
    Open the 8081 Port.
    Add a “A” Record for  http://<appserver name>:8081/default.aspx  in
DNS and pointing it to Public IP.
    FIM Portal:
We can Redirect to the FIM Portal.

  • Allow Anonymous Access to the Password Reset Portal

How do I go about enabling Anonymous Access to the Password Reset Portal?
The following instructions don't seem accurate anymore.  Has this setting changed with Sharepoint Services 3.0 SP2?
When I click on "Settings" in Step 4 the only option displayed is "Permission Levels".
Allow Anonymous Access to the password reset portal
In this procedure you will configure the portal to allow Anonymous Access to users who need to reset their passwords.
To allow anonymous access to the password reset portal
Log on to the password portal (http://<portal hostname/PasswordPortal) as an administrator.
On the top right hand side of the portal homepage click Site Actions, and then click Site Settings.
Under Users and Permissions click Advanced Permissions.
On the Permissions page, click Settings, and then select Anonymous Access.
Under Anonymous users can access, select Entire Web site, and then click OK.

Yes, that was very helpful.  Thanks!
Just in case that site dissapears and someone else needs this info, here it is:
If you don’t see the “Anonymous Access” menu option in the “Settings” menu, it might not be turned on in Central Admin/IIS. You can manually navigate to “_layouts/setanon.aspx” if you want, but the options will be grayed out if it hasn’t been enabled in IIS
First get to your portal. Then under “My Links” look for “Central Administration” and select it.
In the Central Administration site select “Application Management” either in the Quick Launch or across the top tabs
Select “Authentication Providers” in the “Application Security” section
Click on the “Default” zone (or whatever zone you want to enable anonymous access for)
Under “Anonymous Access” click the check box to enable it and click “Save”
NOTE: Make sure the “Web Application” in the menu at the top right is your portal/site and not the admin site.
You can confirm that anonymous access is enabled by going back into the IIS console and checking the Directory Security properties.
Now the second part is to enable anonymous access in the site.
Return to your sites home page and navigate to the site settings page. In MOSS, this is under Site Actions – Site Settings – Modify All Site Settings. In WSS it’s under Site Actions – Site Settings.
Under the “Users and Permissions” section click on “Advanced permissions”
On the “Settings” drop down menu (on the toolbar) select “Anonymous Access”
Select the option you want anonymous users to have (full access or documents and lists only)
Now users without logging in will get whatever option you allowed them.
A couple of notes about anonymous access:
You will need to set up the 2nd part for all sites unless you have permission inheritance turned on
You must do both setups to enable anonymous access for users, one in IIS and the other in each site

  • OSX Server password reset portal doesn't communicate password requirements

    Here's the story:
We are migrating our users to a new fileserver running OSX Server 2.2.2 on 10.8 from an existing 10.4 server.  We have prepopulated the user accounts with the same login names as our old server, and set temporary passwords for each user that they will need to reset.  The plan was to have each user set their custom password via the built in web portal.  We've got Windows and Mac Users, so we are expecting at least the windows users will have to set their passwords this way, as the Mac users can be forced to reset their password at first login.
The issue is that we are are implementing stronger password requirements on the new server, but the password reset portal doesn't seem to communicate that at all.  When entering the existing password, and a new password that is not strong enough, we get the error:  "Your password could not be changed.  Please retype your old password and try again" which is misleading because it is an issue with the new password being too weak, not the old password being incorrect.
Is this normal behavior for this reset portal?  It's pretty basic, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's just the way it is, but we are looking for a way to keep it as simple as possible for our users, and to avoid unnecessary confusion.
For the record, our password requirements are:
password minimum length = 8 characters
    passwords must contain:
    at least one letter
    at least one number
    at least one special character
differ from last 5 passwords used
    be reset on first login

    Another helpful forum user said:
Then you might try this procedure to create a new administrator account:
    http://osxdaily.com/2010/08/10/forgot-mac-password-how-to-reset-mac-password/
Which i tried. I ran through the help link above which all seemed to work until the end... and i got this error...
Which means i couldn't get to the part that sets up a new user. :-(

  • How to up the timeout setting to solve password reset portal error "Authentication gate timed out waiting for a challenge response"?

    Hi Everyone,
We have the password portal up and running on one box and another server with FIM R2 and SharePoint 2010.  All is good with the exception that our end users typically get distracted during the password registration and/or reset process and receive:
"An error has occurred. Please try again, and if the problem persists, contact your help desk or system administrator. (Error 3000) ".  The timeout kicks in after 5 minutes of inactivity in the browser.
The FIM Service log shows the following:
"Authentication gate timed out waiting for a challenge response".
I have confirmed that the default password portal web.config setting is <add key="SessionTimeoutInMinutes" value="20" />.
We have also updated Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Service.exe.config per this
article to the following but with no luck:
    <resourceManagementClient resourceManagementServiceBaseAddress="myAddress" timeoutInMilliseconds="600000" />
      <resourceManagementService externalHostName="myHost" dataReadTimeoutInSeconds="600" dataWriteTimeoutInSeconds="600"/>
We did not update the Windows SharePoint Servicesweb.config setting per the article about since we are on SharePoint 2010.
There is no NLB or firewall in front on this server.
If anyone has any solution to how to solve this on FIM R2/SharePoint 2010 please let me know.
    Cheers!

    FIM_Admin,
You could try changing the receiveTimeoutInSeconds parameter of the resourceManagementService node in your Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Service.exe.config file. However, you are warned not to do this unless instructed to by MS customer support.

  • Applet reset via state wipe

I need to code a restart internally in my applet rather than manipulate the external execution environment to effect the applet restart. For example, I could have a boolean variable to change from false to true at when a reset button method is invoked, and the restart would key on the value of the boolean; and upon restart, the boolean would immediately change to false. My code is time limited, but the duration limit constant is so large( 6000 seconds) that it really shouldn't matter for most cases. However, I might desire a timer thread that wakes up at the appropriate time or on a regularly schedule interval in order to check the stateand reinitiate restart if necessary. This restart would likley consist of wiping the current state and returning to a new state so that another simulation can be run. Otherwise, my code is not time limited below the duration limit. I have a reset button that can have a method coded such that when pressed either intiates the state wipe or wakens a sleeping thread to do the work. It is possible that a thread is ignoring thrown exceptions, but I'll look into that possibility as well. What are some specific suggestions or code examples for this applet code modification?

  • Reset Portal password

    Hi All,
I want to reset the passowrd of portal of some users.
when i go to user admin --->search and then click on modify , Iam unable to see the field such as automatic passowrd generation , Password and confirm password field for some of the users.
For many users Iam able to see those fields .......
can anybody tell me why there is differnce in the fields in modify page  between the users.
    Thanks,
    Master.

    Hi,
I think this could be because those users may have been created on your
Ldap. What kind of Ldap are you using? You can only modify passwords of
those users who have been created on the portal.
For the rest you may have to access the Ldapserver for this.
    Hope this helps

  • Reset the state of one switch when another switch is pressed in a VI

I have a START/STOP latching button and a PAUSE/RUN latching button. I would like to be able to reset the PAUSE button when the START/STOP button is pressed. Sometimes the user leaves the PAUSE button latched and then presses the START/STOP button. This then activates only part of the VI.

You could do this in eoither of two ways. The most straight-forward is the case where you have a state-machine of some sort handling the button presses. All you would have to do is insert a local variable of the Pause/Run button in the case structure that is executed when the Start/Stop button is set to the "Stop" position. The local variable would allow you to force the switch into whatever state you want.
The other possibility is that you might want to do it in a subvi. In that situation you'd need to pass to the subvi a reference to the Pause/Run button and use the "Value" property to turn it off. The disadvantage of this approach is that according to NI using property nodes to set the value of a control is much slower than writing to it directly with a lo
    cal variable.
If you have specific questions feel free to follow-up. Also if you could post the pertinent bits of the code in 6.0 format I could give you very specific recommendations.

  • Issue in reset portal password.

    Hi Experts,
I have implemented "Forgot Password" functionality in our portal (EP7). It was working fine. But now we are getting an issue.
If we locked the user from r/3 end using TCode 'SU01' or if the user get locked for too many wrong password attempt and then  he/she try to reset the password then this functionality not working. If we try to reset the password we are getting the mail with new password but with the new password portal not allowing us to enter. It's giving " Authentication failed" error.
But If we reset the password without locking back-end user then itu2019s working. we are getting the mail with new password and  portal  allowing us to enter.
Means if by any chance the backend user is locked then it's not working.
    what could be the reason?
    Thanks
    Sujan Indu

If an administrator locks a user explicitly from SU01 (User ID Locked), then the user should not be able to unlock himself using the portal password self service application. That is the whole purpose of an administrative lock.
However, the application should work if the password is locked due to a number of unsuccessful logon attempts.
    See SAP Note 1397312 -
"users are allowed to reset their passwords only if it is locked because of too many failed logon attempts. If the user is locked by administrator he is not allowed to reset his password."

  • Reset Feature state or its Beans

    Hello.
I have 3 features, one for ordering meals, one that shows the user the meals he ordered for the next few days and one that shows the past orders and the overall costs.
Now if I order one new meal, how can I have the other flow "reset", so that the REST service is accessed again and shows the now newly added orders in the "future orders" flow?
    A use case would be:
"what have i ordered for tomorrow" checks what he as ordered in flow 1
"no meat , i want meat!" goes to flow 2 and orders a nice steak
"lets see if that was successful" goes back to flow 1
now here is the problem. the state of flow 1 is saved from before, and it still shows the old data. Sure i could just create a method that deletes the old list of meals and then refills it again with another REST call, but it would be nicer to just have the flow restart from anew, then I don't need to code any code that is already there.
Greetings and a nice weekend to everybody.
    Pascal

Hey. I ran into the same problem again, however now it seems to be more general.
On page 21 of the participant guide it says "way to refresh a feature" : and then tells me to implement the activate() method in the featureLifeCycleListener class.
Then when I call AdfmfContainerUtilities.resetFeature("feature1"); nothing happens. If you double click the iphones bottom button, something happens, however it navigates back to the custom springboard page. I put together a simple example app to show what i am talking about.
Where to send it? its a 450kb zip file. I don't want to throw it up on rapidshare or anything.
    Have a good weekend everybody!

  • What is causing my usage to increase after EVERYTHING has been disabled and shut off?  I reset my stats and sat in the same spot on wifi over last two hours and watched my usage go up

    data usage increases on wifi

    Hi there sambranoronnie,
It sounds like you are seeing lots of cellular data being used when it should be using the Wi-Fi connection for data. I would use these troubleshooting steps from the following article to help you resolve the issue here:
    iPhone cellular data connection issues
Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings, turn airplane mode on, wait three seconds, and then turn off again.
    Restart your iPhone.
Make sure that your software is up to date:
Check for a Carrier Settings Update: Tap Settings > General > About.
Check for an iOS Software Update: Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
Remove the SIM Card and reinsert it. Allow the iPhone to acquire the network again.
If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try turning it off: Tap Settings > Phone > SIM PIN.
Try another location. If a different location works, but the original location still doesn't, contact your carrier to report the issue.
Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Resetting network settings on your device will erase all current saved settings, including Wi-Fi passwords, preferred networks, and VPN settings.
    Restore the iPhone as new.
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, contact your carrier, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or contact AppleCare.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling
