Resize jpeg picture file.

Hi
How do i resize a jpeg picture (*.jpg) and save it in labview.?
eg. from 800x600 to 640x480.
thanks

If you can get by with decimation, the answer is simple.
Anthony de Vries on 8/16/2001 answered this question.
He basically unflattened the flattened image out of the "Read JPEG" and then removed rows and columns from the pixmap matrix to shrink the image. If your JPEG must be arbitrarily scaled (i.e. can't be a 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, etc. decimation), you will have to do as IreneHe suggested and interpolate the values to match "fractional indices" of the new array. You should be able to use the array functions to do this.
After you decimate your pixmap matrix, send it through the flatten function and draw the flattened pixmap to your picture indicator.
I'm sorry I don't have exact function names. I am away from my LabVIEW machine at the moment.

  • Sending jpeg (pictures) files from my phone to my hotmail email come thru as txt files, but works fine with my friends

Picture files sent from my phone come thru as txt files to my email instead of jpeg. but when I copy to others it goes thru as jpeg fine.

Sorry let me correct something and give you some additional info. First I spelled .jpg wrong, and second my phone will send pictures to my mail 60 or so % of the time as .jpg and everything is fine but for no apparent reason some times they go thru as ,txt to my hotmail account email. I will also add if I copy a friend with the same picture they will get it as .jpg and be fine.

  • Cropped JPEG picture files not dissolving smoothly in FCP

Working on a montage video here and when I try to do any type of fade in/fade out dissolve with picture files (that I've cropped in FCP under the Viewer's motion tab) the dissolve comes out looking strange. During the actual transition FCP is showing the entire uncropped picture, then once the transition completes it immediately beecomes my cropped version.
    Any ideas?

Also found this very frustrating when I first started(still do) working with photos in FCP...
    1. Do as the others suggested.
    2. Maybe you know this.... If you already have the pics in FCP and you want to crop a picture, right click on the pic in the timeline, choose open in editor from drop down menu, crop your pic in editor, save, then return to FCP which will automatically update it.
    3. I have even (on a picture with no movement) done a "freeze frame". Replaced the pic with the freeze frame (FCP is now looking at the whole frame, instead of just the pic) and applied my transition.
Still wish there was a way that it would read the crop all the way through. Very frustating with edge
    feathers also!!

  • PSE 10 will not edit large picture files after it accepts them. After editing it either changes jpeg to psd or greys out the file.  What must I do?

PSE 10 allows large picture files into the organizer and editor but after editing, saving, and closing, the jpeg returns to the organizer either with a psd file extension or as a greyed out broken photo icon . Why does it cause users to waste time editing files that are too large. How do I solve the problem?

  • How resize a picture?

How can I resize a picture? All my pictures have more than 1.8MB and I want to resize some of them to a smaller size (200KB or less).

    Jose Frank:
You can resize the pictures via the Export process. In the File->Export->File Export menu option there is a section to set the pixel dimensions to a given size and quality level (jpeg compression). The exported file will be reduced in size considerably.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Open picture files and display in fullscreen slideshow?

I'm hoping for some help as I'm very new to LabView and quite lost....
I have a directory with many picture files (too many to put them all in
a powerpoint slideshow) and i want to open them one by one and display
them full screen with no border around them (not in a picture box, but
as displayed in a powerpoint slideshow).
I'm trying to use activeX to call the default "Preview" application for
windows, (which is able to run a slideshow when opened manually from
the directory).  In the LabView VI, when the slideshow runs, it
takes over the full screen, as it should, however, the images are not
shown.  The screen says "no preview available".  I've messed
around with it a lot and just can't get it to work.
Any other application or any other way of displaying the images full
screen would be acceptable, if you know of any.  I've also tried
the adobe acrobat browser 7.0, which has a full screen option, but i
can't seem to get that one to work either.  Attached is a copy of
    my code.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.  Thanx.

The easiest would be to set the window not to have toolbars, scrollbars, etc. and to fill the entire screen and to scale all objects with the windows (these can be found in 2 pages of the File>>VI Properties dialog). If you resize your FP so your picture indicators fills it before doing this then any resizing of the window will resize the indicator as well. You can then use the Zoom property to enlarge the picture. To calculate how much to zoom you can divide the size of the picture by the Application>>Display>>Primary Workspace property.
Another option would be to use property nodes to change the Draw Area Size of the picture to fill the screen and to resize the picture itself using something similar to the method demonstrated here.
Try to take over the world!

  • How do I resize a picture in iPhoto to 1000 pixels?

How do I resize a picture in my iPhoto library to 100 pixels?

You do this on export from iPhoto.
File -> export and note the Size option. You can decide the pixel dimensions there.

    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.

  • Camera/jpeg picture number not shown in Photos ?

Hi  In iPhotos the JPEG picture number was shown but cannot find this in Photos, has it been removed ?

  • Why do some imported jpegs, psd files show as black rectangles?

I recently scanned a dozen B&W 8x10 prints, plus a color  book dust jacket, into Photoshop, saving all to my desktop variously as jpegs, TIFFs and PSDs, then attempted to import the images to my iPhoto library. Some showed up fine but most were simply black rectangles. With Get Into I could see the file size and the format, but that's it.
One failed import was a 20MB jpeg, so file size might be an issue. But all other other failed imports were in the 2.7MB to 12MB. Suspecting file size may be the problem, I used PS to change the image size from 600dpi to 300 dpi, dropping the size to 5MB or so, and that worked. Question: Is there a size restriction on importing files to the iPhoto library? Any advice much appreciated. Thanks!  John Grissim.
    MacMini dual-core Intel, OS 10.6.8, iPhoto 6.0.6, CS3 Photoshop

Black and white photos scanned as grayscale are not supported by iPhoto.  Actually it's the color profile, Dot Gain 20%,  which is used that causes the problem.  CMYK color mode photos are also not supported by iPhoto.
For PSD files if you have an alpha channel that can cause problems in iPhoto.
With iPhoto size does'nt matter.  I've imported 100 MB files without a problem. In resizing you mighty have changed the profile or something that made it usable.
Scan all b/w photos as color.  You'll get the same result but they will be iPhoto compatible.
If you want to conver the current b/w scans without rescanning you can try one of the conversions apps available at  Toad's Cellar.

  • Better to resize JPEGs for a QT sequence before or while exporting from QT?

I have several thousand JPEG files shot as a time-lapse sequence, at my DSLR camera's smallest size of 4288 by 2848 pixels. I want to sequence them as a QuickTime movie, for a final frame size of 1920 by 1080 pixels. Is it okay to batch resize the JPEGs in a photo application (PhotoMechanic or Photoshop) before creating the Quick Time Pro sequence and then exporting it as a .MOV, or am I better off sequencing the JPEGs in QuickTime Pro, then exporting them as a 1920 by 1080 pixel movie file?
The last time I did this I let QTPro do the resizing while exporting, and it took over an hour to generate the .MOV file. Is that to be expected given the "fast" computer I'm using?

Resize the image files prior to import to QuickTime.
It'll be faster on your machine.

  • Encoded picture file with included XMP data

    Hi folks,
I'm all new to this forum because I can't find a solution to my problem for days now. I have these picture files which are used by a freeware design tool. I badly need to use one of the files in an other design project. But it seems like those files are somehow modified in there file header or encoded.
Is anybody able to shed some light in the type of file used? I renamed already in .tif .zip .dng and so forth and opening it in an HEX-editor tells me that XMP technology has been used at least for tagging.
    I uploaded a file here http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4N7OYDXR
    and the HEX-code is below.
    Thank you all very much!
    Greets
    Marc

    Hi Marc,
    the XMP states (obviously):
    dc:format = "image/jpeg"
    xap:CreatorTool = "Adobe Photoshop CS3 Windows!"
According to the XMP it is a JPEG file. But your file is corrupted:
Each JPEG file has to start with a "Start of Image" tag, which is 0xFF, 0xD8.

  • Finder frozen after accidentally dropping 200 picture files on it

I was dragging 200+ picture files from a folder on my desktop to the trash when I missed the trash and they started filling my desktop with all their tiny icons...... it seems to be spending time trying to convert the icons to their thumb nail images..... it has piled loads of them on top of my hard drive icon..... nothing works...... I have let it sit there for over an hour and still no control..... I have force quit the finder but same problem on relaunch....... I have restarted but always the same problem....... I am panicing....... any help would be greatly appreciated........
    iMac G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Hello Windfrmr,
I just happened to notice from your post you've had the same problem I had just about 3 weeks ago. Only - I "exported" over 2,500 frames of a QT movie onto the desktop (just didn't notice I'd clicked on the wrong "target folder.")
    Spent a long, anxious afternoon before hitting on a bit faster way of deleting those jpegs. Here it is, for what it may be worth to others with the same problem;
    1. Switch to your "alternate user" account - whatever you've named it.
This will give you a completely clutter free desktop and working finder!
    2. You will know ahead of time which level of permissions you have in this account - if you've set this account up with elevated permissions (the normal recommendation) - you will have no trouble navigating to "your" (clogged) desktop folder, opening it and deleting those files while working FROM your alternate account.
2.b If you have not given the alternate account admin privileges, then, when you attempt to open "your" desktop folder a dialogue will pop up telling you so. You can still use "Get Info" on the desktop folder to change permissions.
OS X will ask for your master password every so often during the deletion processs - which of course you should know or have ready access to.
The other advantage - as I recall - is that you can delete much larger "batches" of files without stopping the Trash from working (I was deleting at least 20 at a time) - but you should still empty trash after each group of files is deposited there.
---- So there it is: a 2nd way to get out of this rather scary bind.

  • Unable to open *any* picture files in Photoshop CC

I cannot seem to open any picture files in Photoshop CC. It doesn't seem to matter what file type it is.
.jpg .gif .png  no file will open.  They open just fine in Illustrator but Photoshop can't seem to find them.
I've tried modifying what program "opens" the file but Photoshop isn't listed. Window Media Player is listed, as
is Illustrator but I have to search for Photoshop and when I click on it, it doesn't do anything.
    Please help.

    Allyson,
    Another welcome here.
Along with the answers to Trevor's questions, how are you attempting to Open those Image files, i.e. Dbl-clicking on them in Windows Explorer, or from the File>Open menu in the Toolbar? If you are using the former, please try the latter. If you want to work from Windows Explorer, Rt-click on the file, and choose Open With, then Photoshop.
Your comment about WMP being the default viewing program, seems to indicate that your File Associations have been changed, with WMP now set as the target program. If this is the case, then you will likely want to go to Folder Options (check for your specific version of Windows), and reset the File Associations for, say PSD, PSB, JPEG, etc., to point to Ps.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • File size with JPEG Image files

I recently had to re-load all of my photos from an external hard drive due to the fact that my hard drive crashed. When I did, I noticed that the files are JPEG Image files. As a result, the file size is considerably smaller than the original file and the quality is much less.
Any suggestions on how to restore the file to the original format and quality?

    Connie:
Yes, it seems you backup the Data folder instead of the Originals folder. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do at this time.
In the future, I suggest you copy the entire iPhoto Library folder to the external and then keep it updated with a backup application like Digital Backup, Snyk, etc. They compare B (the backup copy) with A (the working copy) and copy new or changed files from A to B to keep them identical. After the initial copy process, the subsequent backups are rather quick, about a minute or less.
    Do you Twango?
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
