Restore BizTalk Servers on the same SQL Server

Hi
If I need to do a recovery of the BizTalk databases to a point in time before a hardware failure on the same SQL Server, how do I achive this?I have seen the only recommended method is to use log shipping, but is this to restore Databases onto another SQL
Server? If I just want to restore all Databases onto the same server, how would I achive this.
Thanks in advance

The only supported Backup/Restore scenario for BizTalk Server, is using the SQL Agent job:
Backup BizTalk Server (BizTalkMgmtDb)
If you had this job running before the hardware failure, it will have backed up your databases both Full and Log (Differential).
Use these backup files for restore, just as you normally would when restoring SQL Server databases.

    Hi  Guys,

Although you can install like the configuration you said above, we do not recommend you do it this way. If your SQL box has  problems, all the data will go away and you will not have data redundancy.
You need to configure the different SQL Port and SQL Broke service port e.g.
SQL port 4023  SQL Broke Service port 4022 for CAS instance
SQL port 4024  SQL Broke Service port 4021 for PRI instance

I agree with Johan and this configuration should not be used. But I want to clarify that the default ports for "SQL port" (actually, SQL over TCP) is 1433 and the SQL Broker Service uses 4022. The configuration above should work but the "correct" would be
to use 1433 and 4022 for the CAS and 10434 and 4023 for the Primary :)
You can read more about Network Ports used by Configuration Manager here

  • Can two Instances of Planning share the same SQl Server Instance?

    Hi
Can anyone clarify me on the below
Is it possible to have our DEV and TEST instances of planning (on different host servers) point to different tables in the same instance of SQL Server 2005. I know that the apllication databases can be directed to different table names but what about the core tables:
    FSDHAADMS
    FSDHBIP
    FSDHSS
    FSDHPLANAPP
    FSDHPLANSYS
    Thanks in advance.

I think it will work. As long as you create separate SQL databases for the planning system files for dev and prod on the sql server. If your planning web for dev is deployed on server x, and planning web for prod is on server y, when you run config utility on server x you would point to the SQL database u created for dev. Repeat on prod when u run the config utility just point to the planning system database you created for prod.
haven't done this myself but sounds possible.

  • Can you run Orchestrator on the same SQL server as SCCM?

500+ systems, and our SCCM data base is sizable. We're running SQL on a virtual server within our SAN. I can tell you just poking around on the server, I do feel its kinda slow and everything feels to kinda chug.... Might be better to just see if I can get approval on the spend for another license... I do know deep down thats the correct way to go.
Unless Orch is so light and hardly uses any resources that it can piggyback SCCM? The hard part is going to be to convince them to use something I am still learning to use. Ha! But I do have a book for it, so thats a step in the right direction.

So our current solution is MDT for deployments, and SCCM for software and updates deployment as well as software center self service.
I'm wanting to bring in Orchestrator to start using playbooks to automate everything. I see that all of Software Center's add-on parts don't cost anything, but all require SQL Server. Well I already have that running for SCCM. So can I share between the two? SCCM is already kind of a big hog, but I have zero to little knowledge of Orchestrator... Would that be just a little more stress on the server or a lot more? Does Orchestrator really need its own server?

  • Oracle dblink to sql server, accessing multiple database on same sql server under one dblink

Hi, we have successfully managed to set up an Oracle dblink over to sql server and retrieve data.
The sql server user were using via the dblink has access to more than one database on the same sql server
But the question is how in oracle (if at all possible) do you prefix the sql statement to access this ?
    Eg:
Sqlserver_prod has user sqlserver_user which appears to be set up as default database on sqlserver_db1
But we have select access to sqlserver_db2
    all work fine as sqlserver_user
    select * from  table_fromdb1
    select * from  dbo.table_fromdb1
    select * from  sqlserver_db1.dbo.table_fromdb1
    as does
    select * from  sqlserver_db2.dbo.table_fromdb2
    over in Oracle
    Oracle_db has dblink sqlserver_prod.world connecting as sqlserver_user
    all working fine
    select * from "table_fromdb1"@sqlserver_prod
    select * from "dbo"."table_fromdb1"@sqlserver_prod
but how (if at all possible) do I access from oracle
    sqlserver_db2.dbo.table_fromdb2
without having to create a new sqlserver_db2_user referenced in a new dblink
if oracle to oracle would be
    select * from remote_oracle_schema.table@remote_oracle_db

Hi, ok cheers, I see, original gateway was connecting purely at host_name level
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=sqlserver_host
Planning to amend this to be
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=sqlserver_host//sqlserver_db1
    With exisiting dblink
    And to create new gateway
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=sqlserver_host//sqlserver_db2
With new exisitng dblink, will see how we get on
    Cheers again

  • ADFS server in NLB cluster unable to reach all servers in the same subnet

I have 2 ADFS (3.0) virtual servers (server 2012 R2 on VMware) in an NLB cluster (setup for Office 365 initially) and want to be able to use the SAML to connect to a couple of Linux servers in the same network to allow SSO to the Linux boxes.
It was working then stopped and now the primary FS server (FS1) cannot ping either Linux box or one of our WS08R2 file and print servers. It can ping all other servers in the same network.
I tried to get a packet capture with MS NetMon 3.4 but it only picked up the successful ping requests.
Firewall is disabled but that made no difference.
NLB cluster configured in Unicast mode as I found Office 365 and another outside service didn't want to work using Multicast or IGMP Multicast.
The really bizarre thing is the secondary FS vm can ping the other boxes even with "ping server -S clusteraddress"
Any suggestions as to where to look to track this down will be most welcome.
    Cheers

How does this relate to the Oracle Database?

I Am not using gmail I use seperate company for my mails both use the same smtp server. The problem is when I set my first account it them uses these details and passwords when I create the second account saying that the smtp server is already in use by the primary account. I therefor can't set the password.

  • I do not see where to enter IP addresses in the Open VPN setup. Also, how can I set it up so that I can choose different servers in the same way as I can currently choose them with my VPN app but for PPTP?

I think I have it working on my iPhone 5. But, I do not see how I can control the exit point that I would like for the VPN. Are all the exit points shown in the VPN setting now going to work with Open VPN, or do they remain PPTP? If I am reading correctly, they look like they remain PPTP. If I cannot control the exit point for open VPN, which exit point is the default in the profile you provided me?I note that Open VPN Connect does not work with any of the new 64 bit devices like the iPhone 5S, the iPad Air, and the new iPad MIni. Is there any chance that you guys will come up with an update for your app so that open VPN can be made to work on all iOS devices? That would be nice, particularly if the Open VPN Connect app does not give me a choice of exit points. Thanks,
I do not see where to enter IP addresses in the Open VPN setup. Also, how can I set it up so that I can choose different servers in the same way as I can currently choose them with my VPN app but for PPTP?
Just a quick note to tell you that Open VPN has updated their app so that it is compatible with 64 bit ARM devices like the iPhone 5S, the iPad Air, and the iPad Mini Retina. That does not resolve the problem of how to easily choose among the various possibilities for the exit server. We need to find an easy way to choose.

  • [Forum FAQ] Troubleshooting error "The specified SQL server instance is not valid" when installing SCOM reporting service

    Symptom
If you have failed to install SCOM reporting service, you may encounter below error when you reinstall it:
“The specified SQL server instance is not valid”.
    (Figure 1)
    Figure 1.
    Reason
This issue may be caused by multiple reasons, for example the reasons in Figure 1.
However, you may find that SSRS and Report Server website are configured correctly and no SSL or proxy Server is used. In these scenario, you can open the log file under path
    to find the root reason:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\LogFiles
Later, you will find the error as below:
    ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Library.ReportServerDisabledException: , Microsoft.ReportingServices.Library.ReportServerDisabledException:
The report server cannot decrypt the symmetric key that is used to access sensitive or encrypted data in a report server database. You must either restore a backup key or delete all encrypted content. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException

    at Microsoft.ReportingServices.Library.ConnectionManager.<GetEncryptionKey>b__2()
    --- End of inner exception stack trace ---;
    Solution
According to the error message, you can delete encrypted content by following the steps below:
Open SQL Reporting Services Configuration Manager.
    Select “Encryption Keys”.
Click “Delete” to delete all encrypted content. (Figure 2)
    Figure 2.
After that, we can install SCOM reporting service again, after successfully install reporting service, we should see the SCOM operation console as below:
    Figure 3.
In addition, you may also encounter other errors when installing SCOM reporting service, and the troubleshooting steps may be different. However, we can also check SQL reporting
service logs to find the root reason.

  • How to access variuus database servers at the same time.

    Hi All,
Here, i've to access more than one databse servers at the same time.
i've to fetch some data from AS400, and some from MS-Access and SQL-server. The problem is this should be done at the same time.
What should i do. Plz. help.
    Thx. in advance.

what is exactly "at the same time"
what could prevent you from opening multiple connections?

  • The current SQL Server edition is not supported by MDS.

I am currently trying to upgrade to SQL 2014, I am using a separate UAT domain to perform the upgrade before applying the upgrade to Dev domain.  I can install a clean instance of SQL 2014 DBE and MDS on the same server, create a new database and point
IIS to it and it works fine.  When I backup and restore the database to another upgraded or clean install instance on another server I get the following.
The current SQL Server edition is not supported by MDS.
It is enterprise edition of SQL 2014 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.
Any ideas of how I can fix this ?

    Hi Neoafter,
Firstly, please note, Master Data Service(MDS) is only available in the following editions of SQL Server 2014:
    Enterprise
    Business Intelligence
    Developer
Secondly, let me explain you how SQL Server check whether the SKU is supporte for MDS.
MDS object model(where the application host) get the connection string(from the web application request)
Extract instance name from the connection string. If the connection string only has server name, the instance is the default one "MSSQSERVER"
Call Sqlboot to check whether MDS is enabled in the specified instance
So, there may have some possible causes for the error you posted:
The connection string points to a instance that is not existing
The specified instance is not a SQL Server 2014 instance
The MDS application is upgraded to 2014, however the SQL Server service is still in a low version in the same machine
    The corresponding solution is:
Ensure the server, which is running MDS application, has SQL Server 2014 installed
Ensure the instance is existing, and it is 2014 version
Ensure it is a right edition of course
Anything unclear, please feel free to let me know.

  • OHS not able to redirect to two different ports of the same managed server

    Hi
I need to redirect to different ports of the same managed server (say M1, M2) based on the availability of the managed server. ie when managed server M1 is busy handling other requests i need to redirect my new request to M2. i already have this mechanism to find out which managed server is free.
so now the problem is if M2 is free how would i tell ohs to redirect it to M2 server??
M1,M2 both managed servers are hosted at host1.example.com.
    M1 port - 8001
    M2 port - 8003
    my context root is /YpsSupplyPlanningEngineService/supplyPlanningEngineService
    my mod_wl_ohs.conf is defined as:

    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    PathTrim /M1
    WebLogicHost host1.example.com
    WebLogicPort 8001

    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    PathTrim /M2
    WebLogicHost host1.example.com

    </Location>
when i type the url in browser as "http://<ohs_server_url>:7777/M2/YpsSupplyPlanningEngineService/supplyPlanningEngineService"

  • How to create reports servers with the same name in two nodes in Reports

    Greetings
We are migrating Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4) to a better hardware infrastructure with high availability. We want to provide 2 new Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4) in High availability and we want to avoid modify the existing forms and reports code, but the code is looking for a specific reports server name when calling reports, but I couldn't create the same reports server name in the both oas machines, I could create the reports server in only one node. I want to create a reports server with the same name in both nodes but it is not possible. I know that there is a procedure to do that in 10.1,2 (Note 437228.1, How to Create Two Reports Servers With the Same Name in the Same Subnet) but I couldn't find the equivalent procedure in 9.0.4.
Anybody kwows how to create a reports server with the same name in two nodes using 10g (9.0.4)
    Thanks
    Ramiro Ortiz.

    Hello.
I applied the patch 4092150 on my oas 9.0.4.2 and I modified my rwnetwork.conf file changing the port to 14022 by following the note "How to Create Two Reports Servers With the Same Name in the Same Subnet? [ID 437228.1]" but I am facing the same error rep-56040 "server already exists in the network".
When I run osfind command I get the following information (My reports server is senarep and I want to create it on SNMMBOGOAS10):
osfind: Found 2 agents at port 14000
    HOST: SNMVBOGOAS10.sena.red
    HOST: SNMVBOGOAS09.sena.red
osfind: There are no OADs running on in your domain.
osfind: There are no Object Implementations registered with OADs.
osfind: Following are the list of Implementations started manually.
    HOST: SNMVBOGOAS10.sena.red
    REPOSITORY ID: IDL:oracle/reports/server/EngineComm:1.0
    OBJECT NAME: senarep2
    REPOSITORY ID: IDL:oracle/reports/server/ServerClass:1.0
    OBJECT NAME: senarep2
    HOST: SNMVBOGOAS09.sena.red
    REPOSITORY ID: IDL:oracle/reports/server/EngineComm:1.0
    OBJECT NAME: senarep
    REPOSITORY ID: IDL:oracle/reports/server/ServerClass:1.0
    OBJECT NAME: senarep
    Any Ideas?

  • XML Publisher(XDODTEXE) in EBS taking more time with the same SQL in TOAD

    HI
XML Publisher(XDODTEXE) in EBS taking more time with the same SQL in TOAD.
The sql has 5 union clauses.
It takes 20-30 minutes in TOAD compared to running through Concurrent Program in XML Publisher in EBS taking around 4-5 hours.
The Scalable Flag at report level is turned on with the JVM options set to -Xmx1024m -Xmx1024m in Concurrent Program definition.
Other configurations for Data Template like XSLT, Scalable, Optimization are turned on though didn't bounce the OPP Server for these to take effect as I am not sure whether it is needed.
Thanks in advance for your help.

But the question is that how come it is working in TOAD and takes only 15-20 minutes?
    with initialization of session ?
    what about sqlplus ?
Do I have to set up the the temp directory for the XML Publisher report to make it faster?
