Restrict Query Result to last N Documents

Hi,
in a query on an ODS with purchasing documents (headers) I would like to show only the last 5 documents of a supplier.
I can sort on the document date, but how to restrict to the last documents?
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Report to Report interface - restrict query results

HI Experts,
following issue. i'm using the Report-Report interface to jump from a report to a very detailled report.
my concern is if the user don't filter the first report to a specific Item the receiver report can explode trying to get all items.
is there any technical possibility to restrict this i.e. display message or check the number of items selected?

there is a mandatory variables for time restriction.
but not for the material ids so this was the requirement.

Xcelsius with XMLA or XML Query Result Set

Hi Experts,
I want a direct connection from Xcelsius to my BW-Data. Because the new connection, coming with Fix Pack 2.1 is only avaiable for EHP 1 for NW 7.0 I tried to configure with XMLA and XML Query Result Set.
This Document tells the necessary steps: How to integrate Xcelsius 2008 with SAP NetWeaver BI without Integration Kit.pdf.
When I test my XML connection over http://<host>:<port>/TXmla/srvlet/TestXmla my Cubes will display.
So I do a Webservice-Connection with WSDL-URL. At Input-Values there are some entries like CUBE_NAME, CATALOG_NAME...
Output values arent avalible. How do I use these elements to show my Data in Xcelsius?
My Problem with the XML Query Result Set Connection is, that when I Log On to VC the following error appears:
You are not authorized to view the requested resource.
So I get the authorisationobjects: S_DEVELOP and S_RS_COMP as describe in 'How To... Resolve Visual Composer Issues'.
What values have I to enter by S_RS_COMP? And how can I enter my External Service in S_SERVICE. At the type WS the service isnt't avaiable.

To use XMLA web service you need a wrapper function build to convert the XMLA output to the Xcelsius format. There are some documents available in SDN on how to do this.
You can use Live Office or Query as a Web service option to connect from Xcelsius to BW.
S_RS_COMP is the query ID which you are trying to access, S_SERVICE you can either give * or try to set up authorization log and see the expected value.

How can I get Numbers to return the first row in a group of VLOOKUP query results instead of last one?

I'm trying to query from one table (call it Table1) a batch of rows in another table (Table2) using VLOOKUP on a date specified in the first table (Table1). My problem is it's returning the last incident in Table2 of the requested date instead of the first incident. This really breaks the OFFSET scheme I'd like to use to collect the rest of the items for that date. Is there some way to compel VLOOKUP to return the first row of query results, not the last?
NOTE: I see I've asked this before, but forgot to go back and look at responses given. It's been a while and I've limped along until now with the way things were. I'm actually trying to delete this questions, so if you see it, ignore it. I suppose if someone can tell me real quick how to delete a stupid question, that might be helpful.

Query SQ02 : restriction lines result of query

I have prb with a query. I have created a query and infoset. I have join tables .. and I would like to add condition of clause 'where' to restrict the result of query depending on the dates. Those dates are not given in the selection screen but depends on the results of a one table included in infoset.

In the infoset you can write code to restrict the lines..
GO to the infoset in change mode..
click the extras button..
click the code tab..
choose the code section.."Records processing"
In that you will have the table structures available...use the check statement to filter the data..
Ex..
CHECK VBAK-ERDAT = SY-DATUM.

Restricting the query result.

Senario :
I have Keyfigures 1)PO Line Item Count and 2) PO Value
I want the number of PO Line Item having PO Value between 0 to 2,500$.
I cant restrict a key figure with another keyfigure.
Also in the query result i dont have any characteristic drilled, only key figure count is present.
Please help.

Use RRI QUERY, Pass the query result of the first query to Second one and in the second query Use condition to display only "Ito display the number of PO Line Item having PO Value between 0 to 2,500$."
And Use "Count" function to display the number of Purchase Order Line items.

Query results returns document when getDocuments does not

When we run an xquery, we get results that we can't be found in the getDocuments results.
We run an xquery to get a key to an xml document.
Then we attempt to retrieve that document and get a DOCUMENT_NOT_FOUND error.
I can run the same xquery in dbxml and variations of that xquery and see the xml I expect to.
getDocuments <keyvalue> does not work.
Additionally, I run "getDocuments docs.txt"
and search docs.txt for the xml I saw in the query results, and no luck.
The document I'm looking for does not show up in the getDocumentNames names.txt
either.
I'm still using BDB XML 2.2.13 no patches on Solaris and W2k3.
We can easily get the database into a state like this by running lengthy queries, putting, getting, removing documents on a multi-thread, concurrent basis.
What's going on here, is there a work around?

Hopefully you can upgrade to 2.3.10 and get past this. If you are not using any 2.2.13 patches, that could be the problem -- this may be a patched issue in 2.2.13. It could also be a subtle bug in your application.
Either way, once you get into this state, you should be able to get out of it by reindexing the container (XmlManager::reindexContainer() or using the dbxml shell). If you choose to reindex, be very sure that not other threads or processes are in the environment and that you are backed up. Reindexing will remove all index databases and walk the container, re-creating them.

Exporting BEx Query results to CSV or other files.

Hi All,
We have a report designed in WAD, which uses a BEx query to display department’s information. Because of amount of data in the results it crashes when u get all the Free Characters into ROWS(Error is : Result set too large(552244 cells); data retrieval restricted by configuration (maximum =500000 cells). It is a requirement from the user to have all the free characteristics in the rows( which I can understand is not the right way to go ahead). As it is crashing when you add last characteristic(WBS Purpose) into the rows, they aren’t able to export data into spread sheet from the results. (as there are no results)
Now my question is…..is there any way we can export the results from BEX query into any format for example text or csv? If yes, can we schedule that process? Please note that this characteristics are displayed as hierarchies.
Am new to SAP BW and its been only six months since I have been in this role. Any help would be much appreciated???
I looked online and some where in the forum it was mentioned of using program RSCRM_BAPI, but looks like it needs some sort of downloads from SAP.
Is there any other way to export the BEx query results?

You can use the Item "Context Menu" in your WAD and in the properties by default you can see the Options:
Export to Excel & Export to CSV will be there and also there are many options which you wanted to see.

Warning Message in query result as 'Notification Number DBMAN 345'

I have a warning message while executing the query
'Diagnosis
Currently, it cannot be guaranteed that SIDs and master data exists for all characteristic attributes for the DataStore object to be read.
There is a restriction on a navigation attribute of the listed characteristic in the query. This filters all characteristic values of the master-data bearing characteristic for which there is not yet master data out of the result.
For performance reasons, this filtering is unavoidable.

Hi,
The warning is raised due to the following reasons:
- you have a selection in the filter of a navigation attribute
- in your DSO you do not use the option "SIDs Generation upon Activation"
If the option "SIDs Generation upon Activation" is not flagged,
you may get char.values for an Infoobject in the system not
having any SIDs. As a result you may see in the report less data as
expected.
For example we have Infoobject A with its Nav.attribute B
Infoobject A   Nav.attribute B
12             13   ->> has a SID in the X-table
11             10
9              13   ->> has no SID in the X-table
If you define a selection on B =13 in the query, you only get infoobject
A with key 12 displayed in the result, since only B =13 has a SID
in the relevant X-table.
The warning refers to this behaviour and cannot be avoided unless you:
   - flag the option in the ODS-settings
   - or remove the filter defined on 0MATERIAL__xxxx

How can I architect my data layer to yield query result pages to the application as SQL Server prepares them?

I tried to make the question as explicit as possible.
Refer to Sql Server Management Studio's Results view. Depending upon the structure of the execution plan, the Results pane may begin displaying results while the query is still executing. Can someone point me in a direction for architecting a
data layer (I am tech and framework agnostic for this task. Any solution will suffice) that will begin receiving pages of the set before SQL Server has completed the entire query?
The call from the data layer to SQL Server will obviously have to be asynchronous, but is there any additional ceremony that I need to be aware of when issuing OPTION (FAST x) to the query optimizer?

I would imagine you cannot ORDER BY and yield results as they are fetched because of the execution plan that would be generated. For the purposes of this post, please assume that sorting will be done purely client side

How to use query-result as a new query-fiter

Is it possible to execute sub-query filtererd by the pre-query-reslted lists ?
As far as I investigated, only way to do is that I combine two suject-areas by using set operations like "Union" or around.
But in this way, there is an impractical restriction to define these datatype and column in common. (namely, "Union" conditions)
I just want to query filtered by ex-query-results at anytime; for example, I extract a customer lists by one query and use various analysis in the group of customer list.
Please give me some advise.

First create a Request with your FilterQuerey. Secund Create a Request und create a Filter. Under Advanced you will find the path to the first Requst. Than you can select the columns.

Export query result to csv using Export Wizard

Been a decade since I last used Oracle and related tools.
I had to use Oracle server again, I have a query over multiple tables, I am to run a scheduled script that will spit out the query result as a csv file.
I started with SQL Developer Export wizard, in step "Specify Data", I am at a loss, where to specify the query itself? I see a Name,Schema,Type input, a text area below, Up,UpAll,Down,DownAll buttons etc etc. Where do I specify my query here? Can someone please help?
Is this the best way to go about to schedule a data export (query to csv) daily?

To export a user query rather than a whole table, run it in a worksheet and export using the context menu on the result grid. However none can be scheduled.
Instead you can look at the SPOOL command and schedule it through SQL*Plus. Any questions can go to the iSQL*Plus and/or SQL And PL/SQL forum.

set colsep to a delimiter that is not normally part of your data like |
also setup the environment with these other setup commands

Set Underline Off;
If you wanted to use a comma delimiter the setup would be same but the set colsep='","'
with the addition of concatenating a " on the first col and last col of the query
eg.
-- if first col and last_col are character types then
SELECT '"'||col1,....,last_col||'"'
FROM table;
Otherwise if either is a number they would have to be converted with a TO_CHAR

Query resulting Incorrect values

Hello ALL.
I need your suggestions on this issue.
I have a Query on top of multiprovider which is on top of 6 cubes. In the query one RKF is resulting wrong values for Unassigned WBS Element Hierarchy.
RF: Forecast amount
0amount, Version:01, Vtype:20,Company Code:100,Fiscyear=2008 and Posting Period=1-12.
Query resulting: 68,000 and Where as Multi prvider has only 2 rows satisfying the above Restrictions and giving 13,000.
These wrong values are only for Unassgined Nodes of WBS Element.(Rows) Other node values are correct.
I am not sure where it is getting these values?
