Restricting ps -ef output

Hi all,
how do u go about restricting users from getting output when they use the "ps -ef" command?

If you are having super user permission you may change
permissions for /usr/bin/ps command to restrict only
root can have rwx permissions.This won't work. The /usr/bin/ps command is not setuid
so a user can simply get a copy from someplace else
and run it. They could also use one or more of the other
programs which read the same data: prstat, top, etc.
The fundamental question is why would one not want
users to be able to run 'ps -ef'? My guess is that you
believe it will solve some sort of security issue. It will
not, so you need to solve the security issue at the
source of the problem: the program which is running
and takes insecure or clear text command line options.

Performance Issue-;How to restrict the total output of the report.

Hi Experts
I need your advise to resolve one performance issue in my BI Publisher report.
My report query is extracting more than 80000 records at once. To load these records into the report template it is taking all most 14 to 15 hours. Unfortunately i cannot change my logic to put some more filter to restrict the query output, as this is the requirement from the client.
Is there any way i can restrict my report so that it will extract the first 1000 record and on the event of pressing next it will extract the next 1000 record and so on from the point when it left in last time.
Kindly let me know if you have any solution for this.

How to Create a Selection Variable for restricting the querry output

Hi Gurus,
I have created a query in query designer on a Multiprovider and the output of the query is a Formula in a structure which calculates a % value, the client is looking for entering a range of number during the query selection screen and the output should be restricted to the given selection values.
Can any one tell me how i should create a selection variable that would take the input from the user during the query selection screen and then restrict the output to that value which user specified.
Is there a need to write any customer exit or is there any alternative way to make the query work as the requirement is.

Hi Nisha,
Firstly, in order to restrict the query output by a key figure value, you will need to create a condition on that key figure. This is done in the query deisgner. Now when you are creating the condition you can also use user entry variables (formula variables with user entry) to let the users enter the value that they want to see.

Restricting P.O output from ECC to Sus component of SRM

I do have a requirement of Restricting the output of P.O document created in ECC to SRM-Sus. When a P.O is created and saved in ecc system it mustnot be shared with
SUS provided it has no indirect materials . I do have the logic with me . I created on routine in VOFM and customized it in "Define Message Schema for Purchase Order" in SPRO and the sy-subrc is set ne 0 if the condition fails . Then also the P.O is being shared with SRM-SUS . Are there any method for accomplishing this? Thanks in Advance,

Initially when I repliacted P of HR Org Struture it sucessfully craeted BP in SRM and was CP in Org Structure.
But suddenly , what happned don;t know, when I replicating Employees (P) in SRM , it is assigning to respective Postion (S), but BP is not creating in SRM and in the USERS_GEN for this User, its postion and ORg Unit to whom it assigned is giving below error
Determination of connections to object 'BP' of 'CP' '00000015' failed
Message no. BBP_UM_UI036
I checked all this as per Note 550055, 934372..etc....checked respetcive setting in table T77S0...I checked address alos....but no any clue......IDoC in SRM posting sucessfully....
Can anyone please suggest what should be the cause and solution of it ?

But i am having some idea will it can be implemented.
as you said it will depend on the datamodel .
Consider i am having 2 datasets in my datamodel for my report to get the pdf,html,excel.
so i want to add one more data set in the same data model with llimited number of columns in the select query and i want to use that dataset in the datamodel in the report generation when i choose the csv ouput.
Is it possible i am using bi publisher 11g.
So if it is possbile i can restrict my output in csv format too.
This is my idea i dont know whether it is possible or not.

Restriction in the output records

Assign infoset to your use group and try once.
As query functionality is based on InfoSets, define an infoset and proceed you querry.

Restricting Length of Output in Smartforms

I am trying to restrict the lenght of an output to just show nine numbers, decimal point and then two numbers.
I have tried &GV_VAL(9.2)& but I am getting an error back. Is there anyway I can do this??

Hi,
Before display GV_VAL, change the type whatever you want using code option. I mean create a new variable with data type of 9.2 length and move GV_VAL to this variable and display that variable &variable&.

Restricting a sum output

Say if you had a sum :
the number of something = the number of something 1 + the number of something 2 + the number of something 3
If all the the attributes within the sum = 1, then obviously the number of something would = 3. However according to the regulations the number should be limited to 2 even though all three attributes are true and equal one. How can this be validated in OPM?

I would probably use a rule table:
| the number of something                                 |
| 2                         | the sum of something >= 2   |
| the sum of something      | otherwise                  |

How to restrict material output in the report published in the portal

Hi all,
I am new to BI 7. I have a series of materials that start with the material IDs TR52, RL25, XY56 and son on. Now my user wants to view only the materials that are starting with the ID TR52 when he runs the report from the portal. In the material box when I type in TR I am getting the list of all the materials, the same is happening even when I try TR*. What should I do so that I can restrict the report output only to a particular material ID that my user types in?

Output type is generating for each spilt batch in the delivery

We are using Z output type for COA - EDI processing which uses standard program RSNASTED. I observed that output type is triggered for each individual batch in the delivery . I want to know how can I restrict to trigger output type only for item instead of each barches. Can I get some solution in the output type configuration (NACE) to trigger output type for item level.

I got the fix. There was wrong output procedure maintained to the output type.
What was the reason for different output behavior for output type ZXYZ?
1.Output type-ZABC- Triggering for both item and batch
10 - Main Material - 30 EA - ZTAN- contains output determination in V/73
90001 - Batch-001 - 10 EA - ZBAT
90002 - Batch-002 - 20 EA - ZBAT
2.Output type-ZXYZ- Triggering only for Item
10 - Main Material - 30 EA - ZTAN
90001 - Batch-001 - 10 EA - ZBAT
90002 - Batch-002 - 20 EA - ZBAT

ME38 Output determination Issue

Hi,
Issue is when ever i go to ME38 it is generation output Message and sending mail to vendor even though there is no change in schedule lines. I want to restrict this. Output should only generate when ever there is a change in Quantity. I try to set Fields relevant for Printout changes but it is not working.
Can any one help me to achieve the desired functionality...

We found the problem.
Problem was with Routine logic.
Partner functions are checked after saving the billing document means with VBRK - VBELN & VBPA table we were written the logic where it suppose to be during run time.
Current logic is:
u2022     Select partner number of ZE partner function from dynamic run time table MSG_PART.
u2022     Pass partner number to KNVK-PARNR and select KNVK-PRSNR.
u2022     Pass KNVK-PRSNR to ADR6- PERSNUMBER and select ADR6 - SMTP_ADDR.
u2022     If ADR6 - SMTP_ADDR is not equal to null value means allow to access the condition records.
Earlier logic was:
u2022     Pass the value of VBRK u2013 VBELN to VBPA u2013 VBELN along with VBPA- PARVW = u201CZEu201D.
u2022     Pass VBPA - PARNR to KNVK-PARNR and select KNVK-PRSNR.
u2022     Pass KNVK-PRSNR to ADR6- PERSNUMBER and select ADR6 - SMTP_ADDR.
u2022     If ADR6 - SMTP_ADDR is not equal to null value means allow to access the condition records.

Access sequence requirement for output control

Hi!
I would like to get some inputs on how access requirement for output control works. I created a new requirement for a condition table that has key combination billing type/sales org/country because I need to restrict the output for a paticular customer in one country. I think the requirement works fine such that it is not fulfilled for the customer that I want ot restrict, thus no output is created. However, I noticed that other customers in that sales org/country are affected by the requirement. The output is created (sy-subrc=0) but it is not processed (remains in yellow status). The output should be emailed immediately upon creation (medium 5/timing 4). For other sales org/countries the creation of output and sending of email work as expected.
I hope someone have valuable inputs regarding this.
Note: I created this discussion under ABAP development but it was rejected, for reason: This does not appear to be an ABAP question. So I hope I have selected the correct one with SD.

There is Output determination log available in the output screen (see the menu). It tells everything about how the output was proposed.
If the requirement is not fulfilled, you won't see output created with any color - yellow, red or purple with sparkles. If output has been proposed and has a yellow light it means it has not been processed yet. Output is processed only after the document has been saved, so while creating the document, you'll never see any other color. If after saving the document output is still yellow, it must have a different timing than 'process immediately' and it will be processed according to that setting.
This is a very simple concept, well documented and discussed gazillion of times on SCN. Requirements and conditions are two different things with different purposes. You might want to read a bit more on the output determination.

Repeat output settings for PO reprint

In transaction ME22, I am trying to repeat the output on my Local Printer to view the output of PO.
But as soon as I save the PO after repeating the Output, the status comes as unseccessfully processed. No spool request generated either.
Can some one explain if there is a process in SPRO by which we can restrict the print output to come out only once, and cannot be repeated.

1. Once you say "Repeat Output" in PO (ME22N), click on "Further Data" button and change Dispatch time to 3 i.e. Sent with application own transaction instead of 4 i.e. Send immediately.
2. If you want it not to generate automatically everytime then goto NACT, here enter Application as "EF" and go to details of output type, here in "Default values" tab change Dispatch time to 3 i.e. Sent with application own transaction instead of 4 i.e. Send immediately.
3. Also for that Output Type change Dispatch time to 3 i.e. Sent with application own transaction instead of 4 i.e. Send immediately in MN05.
But this will change it for ME21N. Better do as per 1st suggestion.
For Spool Request;
Go to SU01, here input Ur User ID and change, here in "Defaults" tab deactivate indicator "Delete after output" and save.

Using a characteristic value from an infoCube as a variable in a query

Hi gurus!
I have a query based on an infoCube where I make a restricted key figure. I restrict the key figure by selecting a specific month using 0calmonth.
I need to create a variable that represents a specific month which will change every year. I have this month value stored in another infoCube. In this infoCube I have 0employee and for each employee the characteristic 0calmonth represents the month I need to use in my other query.
So my question is: how can I retrieve the the value from 0calmonth (fx. 012009) from one infoCube and use it as an input in my other query for restricting the key figure using 0calmonth?

Thanks for your help so far. I would like to use the replacement path using another query. It seems more simple since I don't need to do any ABAP programming.
However, it doesn't work for me. I made a pre-query on the infoCube, which contains the month I need for my other query. This pre-query uses a variable which restricts the data output to only data for current year up to current month. So if my input is 072009, then I will receive data for 012009-072009. My query result will then show me the month I need, since there will only be data for one specific month. So for 2009, the month that contains any data will be 052009. I need this month(052009) in my other query.
So, in my original query I made a new variable for 0calmonth and I chose replacement path and the pre-query. I made a restricted key figure where I use the replacement path query. However, I am gettings errors, when I check the report and no data is available when I execute the query. The error says:
Variable "prequery_variable" cannot be used in selection "key figure 1"; remove
How you seen this error before?

Erro while executing query using BWA

Hello BWA experts,
I am facing a issue while running a query by using BIA. I get error message as "Program error in class SAPMSSY1 method: UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTIION.
My querz contains one basis key figure in the column and a charateristic say company code in row. In free characteristic, I have sales document no. The qeury executes without any issue at first. But when I go to 'sales document no' in the free characteristic area and select filter values, this error pops out. This document no cannot be removed due to customer requirements.
If I restrict the query output with selection, then it is able to execute & filtering can be done without and errors. Also if I activate not to use BIA in tcode 'RSDDBIAMON', the query executes & filtering can be done whithout and errors.
If I change the query & put 0doc_number in the drill down and execute for the same selection, I get error as follows,
Error subfield access to table (row3, column 0 to row 3, cloumn 0) outside of
Error Serialization/Deserialization error
Error An an exception with the type CX_TREX_SERIALIZATION occured, but was neither
Error Error reading data of infoprovider XXXXXX
Error Error while reading data, navigation is possible.
I was suggested by SAP to increase the max_cells_one_index parameter to 200 million. We are on revision version 53 and the current value set for max_cells_one_index to 40 million. They also mention with a caution that 'by changing this parameter it will bring more load to BW servers'.
I would like to know how the bw server load would increase by increasing this parameter. Will there be any another impact on the BIA or BW servers.
Secondly, how is the value arrived to give a memory out , serialization error.
Also will this kind of an issue be solved in the next revision version? I know that revision version 54 is available.

I am not able to even evaluate the amount of data with this document no in the drilldown. When I run this report I get an abap dump "TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED".So I guess the no of documents must be very high. Is there a way to check in BIA Monitor the no of documents returned after execution, for a particular selection.
However, I have come accross a note '1157582' which talks about spiltting the result set in different data packets. Will this be helpfull in any case? Currently I see that the parameter 'chunk_size' is set to zero
