Result Area in workbook is selected

Hello Experts,
I am facing a problem with my workbook.
Upon opening the workbook and after query refresh, all the result area gets selected. [Like we select any cell with Shift Key] And when I click anywhere in the workbook, it goes away.
I tried -
To remove result area, remove query from the workbook, save workbook as new etc. options, but nothing works.
Please advice if anyone knows the solution for this Problem. Thanks.

HI
I had the same problem. This problem raises generally if you change the query after hiding the sheet and then executing the query. Unhide all the sheets whatever you hide in a workbook and go to query designer save the query (one by one) and execute. Now hide all the sheets which u want to hide. Save the existing workbook.
To test it.Open the workbook and click on refresh.Say yes to refresh all the queries then it will execute fine. This is the case iam talking where you have a query result displayed with different colours or formats in seperate sheet which is linked to original sheet which is hide.
Thanks

  • Problems with result area in workbooks after upgrade to BW 3.5

    Hi,
    we are experiencing some problems with our <b>workbooks</b> after the upgrade to BW 3.5. When refreshing all queries in a workbook (that was there before 3.5) without selecting a specific query we get the message <b>'Result area</b> cannot be found, specify a new one'. After selecting, the message appears again in an infinite loop.
    Has anybody had similar problems and has found a solution for this?
    Thanks,
    EMS

    Hi,
    I am having that message, always if I delete a Sheet which contains an embeded query.
    Even the sheet is deleted, the SAPBEX has information of all the embeded queries, and tries to find the Result area to put the data.
    To find out if this is your case as well,
    select an empty cell in a Sheet and continue like that, until all the embeded queries are been displayed.

  • Insert a Blank Column in the Results Area of a Workbook

    Is it possible to insert a blank column in the results area of a WORKBOOK that does not get affected by free characteristic drill down or refreshing of the corresponding query?  The current workbook looks like follows
    Column A - Characteristic1
    Column B - Characteristic2
    Column C - KeyFigure1
    Column D - KeyFigure2
    Column E - KeyFigure3
    Column F - KeyFigure4
    The requirement is that the user wants to enter some estimates between Column B and Column C and Column D and Column E as follows
    Column A - Characteristic1
    Column B - Characteristic2
    Column C - USER ENTRY
    Column D - KeyFigure1
    Column E - KeyFigure2
    Column F - USER ENTRY
    Column G - KeyFigure3
    Column H - KeyFigure4
    Column I - CALCULATIONS BASED ON USER ENTRY
    First I tried to split the results area and save the workbook.  But when the query is refreshed then the entire results area gets back in one piece.  I succeeded partially by having a key figure with no possible output (i.e., restricting a non-existent value on a characteristic).  Again in here, whatever user inputs will get wiped out with the drill down.  Does any one have any pointers?  Thanks.
    IS

    Hi IS,
    As a nearly workaround I can suppose to do the following.
    Create two identical requests.
    In the first one hide the columns to the right from your intended new user column. In the second one - hide columns to left.
    Knowing the columns number to be shown in each request you can place both request in the same row, but in different columns taking into account that between result areas should be one (or more) additional column.
    Data entered by a user will not be wiped out during query refresh or drilldown. Of course, these user data will not conform drilldown operations. So, it is not 100% solution you want.
    Another possibility, very hard to implement (if feasible at all), is to write VB code that will monitor user action and will keep data entered by a user somewhere in another sheet and restore them in proper cells after user action (drilldown). But I don't think such coding worth it.

  • BEx: Suppress message in workbooks after growup result area

    Is it possible in BEx Analyzer to prevent or to autoanswer the appearing selection box, if after query update the result area has to growup over 'query foreign' not empty cells?
    In the selection box there are options, to tell BEx how to handle the used cell (insert whole row(s), move existing cells down or to right, overwrite existing cells).
    How can i suppress or autoanswer (with VBA??) this selection box??
    JM

    Hi Juergen,
    The answer to your question is ... not that I know of.
    What I do is try to avoid this problem to start with.
    The problem is caused when user puts additional entries in columns to the right or rows below the result table.
    The easiest way to avoid this is to move the result table to the right, or down, and tells users to put their additional entries to the left or above the result table.
    Another way to handle the issue is to "Name" (in Excel) the range that includes all of the result table, plus any additional user (or VBA) entries to the right or below so that BW will recognize all of this as if it were the original result table ... therefore, BW will delete the extra entries before attempting to rebuilt the new result table.
    The Name to use depends on the local query ID.  For example, if the local query ID is "SAPBEXq0001", then the Name to use would be:
    "SAPBEXqueries!SAPBEXq0001"

  • Strange behaviour of result area after select with XML-function

    Hello,
    i execute following statement
    SELECT XMLElement("arow",
    XMLElement("bcol", a.b) ,
    XMLElement("ccol", a.c) d
    ) as res FROM a;
    and get afterwards a completly grey result area.
    SQL Developer says that it used 0.006 seconds and 5 rows are retrieved.
    After clicking in the result i see the column header and the rowcount
    on the left side, but the rest is grey.
    I am using SQL Developer 1.5.4 on Windows XP Professional Service
    Pack 3 and Oracle 10.2.0.4.
    I also search in Metalink if this behaviour is a bug, but i didn't find anything.
    In this forum i found a solution (getclobval). But i can not use this solution
    for several reasons.
    How to reproduce:
    <--start-->
    create table a (b number not null primary key, c varchar2(10 char));
    insert into a (b, c) values (1, 'a');
    insert into a (b, c) values (2, 'b');
    insert into a (b, c) values (3, 'c');
    insert into a (b, c) values (4, 'd');
    insert into a (b, c) values (5, 'e');
    commit;
    Execute the statement above.
    <--stop-->
    If you need further information, let me know.
    Thanks for your help in advance.
    Yours,
    Erich

    Erich,
    It looks like you need to provide more details. I can't replicate this on 155 or the latest 2.1 early adopter, on either a remote 10g database or a local 11g database. It sounds like it may be related to your setup, perhaps a slow network connection? The JDK sounds fine, although I'm testing on 1.6_15 for the 1.5.5 installation. Is it only related to the XML queries - do you see this with other queries?

  • Input values in the result area

    Hi Bw gurus,
    Could you plz tell me to eliminate the Input values displayed between the Navigation block and the Result area.
    I mean if we give some input range in the variable screen the range(Input)values are displayed in the Result area.Also if we give some 1000 multiple single values in the variable selection screen after executing it displyed
    1000 input values in the result.
    I need to elimeinate this.so how can i do this.
    the requirement is very urgent.
    Regards,
    Rambo.

    Hi Rambo,
    Open query in BEx Analyzer, it'll be embedded into a workbook.
    Use Layout/Dasplay text elements icon or menu path.
    There you'll see the option to show variables. Don't use it and variable's values shouldn't show up!
    And don't use show all.

  • Cannot find result area for a query

    I have 4 queries in a workbook, all on separate sheets. I usually refresh all queries at once from a fifth worksheet. I started getting this error when the first query is refreshed that says "Cannot find the result area for a query - probably all its cells were deleted. Please define a new location for the result area!"
    If I refresh each query individually, I do not get this error. But I want to refresh all at once, which had always worked in the past. If I play along with the error and try to select a cell to put the results, it still does not solve the issue. Any ideas why  suddenlt started receiving this error?
    Thanks.

    Try going through all the tabs on the workbook and ensure that you place the cursor within one of the cells of the query, then resave, close and open. See if the message still occurs.
    I know it sounds silly but we have had this issue in the past with multi tabbed workbooks and this, simple as it sounds has been the cause.

  • Search results are not accurate

    hi,
    am facing a unique issue in SP 2013. Whenever we search for a search criteria the results returned is not accurate always. Every time we navigate across pages, the search results change which is not
    a desired behavior. However we also noticed that the refiner panel does not change as well and it retains the old count which leads to inconsistent results when user selects a criteria from the refiner.
     any pointers /  helpful links  regarding this issue, if any anyone has surfaced,  is highly appreciated!
    Das

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that search results are not accurate.
    I recommend to run a full crawl and then to check whether the search results are correct.
    If your incremental crawl is running, it may happen that, when you are viewing the data in the search result web part, the newly added content are not crawled yet.
    So, after the content are updated, wait for some time.
    Let your incremental crawl finish. Then view the results on the page.

  • Search criteria is retained but search results are not retained

    Hi ,
    I have a search screen ( resultBased Search). On Click of go , it lists out all the records which are matching the criteria.
    In this results table , I have single selection. User can select one record and view the details of those records. But if I cancel the detail screen it is coming back to the search screen with all the search criteria entered . But in results table only the selected record is available and no other records. I am retaining the AM during navigation.
    I am using the same vo for results table and viewing the details.
    For example, I have a project VO . On search , it will list out all the Project List and each row belongs to a Project VO.
    On select , I am taking the selected Project VO and display insite details.
    Can anyone help me on this.
    Thanks
    Suresh

    That is why. To navigate to the Page, you are finding a unique record and viewing/updating the row. Now once you navigate back to the Search Page, that single row which resides in the VO is rendered.
    To resolve this either you have two VOs (may be almost similar queries) for Search and the Page, or you can try requerying the VO once you navigate to the search Page. Decide based on your own requirements.
    Thanks

  • Retrieving BEx Query Results Area for use in Excel formulas

    Hello,
    I run BEx queries in workbooks and then use Excel formulas ( mostly VLOOKUP(LookupValue, ResultsArea, ColumnReturned,) ) to retrieve certain information from the query ResultsArea.
    ****Problem:
    Depending on the query parameters, the query "Results Area" is larger or smaller.
    ****Non-optimal solution:
    One way to define the  ever changing Excel range occupied by the Results Area is to create an Excel name as:
    QueryRange = OFFSET(QueryFirstCell,,,COUNTA(OFFSET(Sheet1!$A:$A,,COLUMN(QueryFirstCell)-1,,)),COUNTA(OFFSET(Sheet1!$1:$1,ROW(QueryFirstCell)-1,,,)))
    Then, the only input required is the top-left cell of the Results Area, which stays the same (unless the query definition changes).
    ****Question
    What is the best way to refer to an ever-changing query Results Area in an Excel formula?
    Thank you!
    Louis

    It is actually much easier than that.
    Use a VBA statement like the following:
    Set RptRng = ActiveCell.CurrentRegion
    This will retrieve the data in the Results Area, no matter what the size is.
    Hope this helps...

  • BEx Map in Excel: Print only result area

    Hi experts,
    I am in BEx Map - Excel, and I am trying to print the result area ONLY, without key figures, legend and so on...
    Print Preview in Excel shows the key figures on the left, the legends on the right and a little version of the map (as if way too zoomed out) in the middle.
    I know there is a post dedicated to the "print only result area" but its solution is "web only"
    Thx,
    Olivier

    Arun,
    Attaching a map in BEx-Excel is different from attaching a chart. When attaching a map, you can't choose in which sheet/workbook the map will be displayed. A new sheet is automatically added to the workbook holding the BEx query, period.
    But thx anyway. I did try your thought
