Retrieve "Mail" Password?

It appears that iPhoto '11 requires my entering my password from "Mail" in order to e-mail pics!
My password is shown (.....) at Mail | Preferences | Accounts.
How can I transfer this password to the iPhoto e-mail program?
I'm assuming that my not having entered the password in iPhoto is the explanation for e-mails not being sent.
But... I don't know this for sure

I'm guessing you've forgotten your password?
If you open the Keychain Access app., which you will find in your Utilities folder (Applications/Utilities) select All Items in the lefthand pane, then in the search bar, type Mail, you will see all the passwords associate with Mail.
Double-click the appropriate one. You'll be asked for you password ... this means you Login password. If you don't have one, leave it blank. You will be able to receive your Mail password from the Dialog that appears.

When I try retrieving my new Apple password through reset through security questions? On the Apple id, it will not allow me to do so becasue I forgot my security answers to the question. Retrieving Gmail Password In Mac Mail

I have been unable to retrieve the password for Gmail account. I've contacted Google numerous times and even answering EVERY question, they will not send me a password reset.
My Gmail account is setup on my iMac and my iPhone, but I can't set up my email account on my MacBook Pro since I can't access the password.
Is there anyway to export my Mac Mail settings or be able to see the password (it shows up as •••••••••) or be able to hack it to copy and paste.

On the iMac, go to Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access. Do a search in your "login" keychain for "gmail" and find the correct one (eg, the POP or SMTP server key). Highlight it, click the "i" button at the bottom of the screen, and click "Show password". You'll need to enter your Mac user's login password to reveal the password.

How do I get my e-mail password cause I can receive e-mail but it goes into my messages box and not like it use to be. I had a e-mail icon which also disappeared

Open your Messages folder > Menu key > Options > Inbox Settings.
You can check there which messages come to your main Messages folder or set them to go to it's own email folder.

How to retrieve mails from a Mail Server ? PLEASE REPLY IF YOU KNOW !

I am trying to retrieve mail from a mail server using the example from JGuru. The command line is as follows:

Mail passwords are not saved to the Keychain

This problem seems to relate to the long standing Mail Password issue that has been frustrating many Tiger (and Panther) users.
Firstly: Mail keeps asking for account passwords in an unpredictable way. Even if I "save these to the keychain" via 'allways allow', I still get the prompts for mail account passwords after waking from sleep or later in the day.
Secondly: Keychain hasn't stored the passwords at all anyway.
Thirdly: 'Mail Preferences' doesn't store my account passwords. I re-enter them and they don't show up in the password box.
This has cropped up since the latest set of security updates in Tiger.
I have done the following.
Repaired disc permissions.
Run Keychain First Aid.
Re-entered the passwords into Mail Preferences on numerous occasions.
Run Cocktail utilities to clear caches/rotate logs/ just about everything.
My Mail is set to send/retrieve every minute. I have re-set this to every 5 minutes, but all of the above problems still apply.
I am on ADSL broadband via a NetGear router, wirelessly through Airport.
I think I am correct in assuming this may be a bug in the way Mail handles server traffic but whatever it is, it needs help!

ok guys, I found out how to fix this.
First way (harder way):
1. Open the keychain access application that rests inside your utilities folder.
2. Push the "Show Keychains" button on the lower left, if your keychains are not visible
3. In the menu item "file" pick "New Keychain"
4. Name the new keychain and pick a password
5. Mark your new keychain and pick "Make Keychain "your keychain" Default"
6. Pick "Change Settings" from the "Edit" menu and uncheck everything.
Voilá!
Alternative and much simpler way:
I found out that my old keychain simply was not recognized because the extension was removed. So, if you still have your old keychain file saved in the appropriate folder (your user folder(home)->library->keychains), simply add ".keychain" to the name. Open Keychain access to check if it was recognized or not.
Worked for me.

Can't retrieve Mail on ipad2

Hey
i have an ipad2 (ios7), and I'm using yahoomail on that normal Mail app. It has worked perfectly since I bought it.
Suddenly it can't seem to retrieve mail. I hadnt changed password. It says it cannot retrieve Mail, and that it couldnt connect to the server.
Now, Ive tried to delete the account and make it again iN the Mail settings. Ive tried numerous times restarting the device, also with the home+power button. ive basically Ive tried everything Ive found on the net, but nothing has worked. Funnily enough, sent mails download just fine, so theres some kind of connection.
Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

One POP account cannot retrieve mail

We have one mac out of three that cannot retrieve mail from an earthlink pop account Two macs (20" imac intel core 2 duo running 10.4.8 and 12" ibook G4 running 10.3.9) can retrieve mail for the account in question from the earthlink server without difficulty. Mail can also be retrieved via WebMail. the 17" imac intel core duo running 10.4.8 cannot retrieve mail. Mail asks for the password over and over. The settings are the same on all three Macs. Connection doctor can connect to the smtp server using the same setup without difficulty but cannot connect to the POP server. We've tried deleting and re-entering the account. We've tried the Key chain repair tool. We tried deleting the pop password from key chain. I've dragged stuff out of the preferences folder and on and on. Nothing has worked. I even tried re-installing the 10.4.8 update. I tried re-installing Mail from the startup disk and then running the update. Nothing. We're not using a firewall. We use an Airport network but, again, all the settings are the same for all three computers.
Any suggestions.

Go to System Preferences > Network > Show: Network Port Configurations, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list.
Also, try using a different method to connect to Internet, if possible, or connecting the computer to Internet as directly as possible, i.e. bypassing any routers that might be present, using an ethernet cable instead of wireless, etc., and see whether that makes a difference.
The Mac OS X 10.4.7 Update introduced connection issues as a result of (according to the documentation) “Mail now supports connecting to mail servers through a SOCKS proxy”. If that’s the problem, you must go to System Preferences > Network and disable the SOCKS Proxy in the network configuration used to connect to the Internet, if it’s enabled -- I don’t think you would be able to send if that was the problem, though.

Mail Password Issue (server rejecting the password)

Every time i try to get my email i get a message back that says "The MobileMe IMAP server 'mail.me.com' rejected the password for user dswich". Is there a way to reset (or retrieve) my password so that i can get back into my email? Because clearly i don't have the right password......

I have the same issue. Just replaced a hard drive and restored everything. Only thing that did not come with it were the mail info. No big deal, I thought. But when I tried to put in all the password information, it would not accept it. It is the only thing left to do. Email boxes-everything imported back in from my backup hard drive. Just a little frustrated right now.
Ok. Just changed my password according to iCloud requirements. Still no joy. I get email on my iPad and my iPhone, but I cannot seem to get the mail sent to my computer with the new hard drive. So, I am with you. Is there a way to verify the email settings?

The good news is, you're not missing anything. The bad news: There isn't a way to retrieve this login and password, unfortunately. The workaround I use is to immediately subscribe to the same photocast (either in Safari or iPhoto) and then let Keychain store my login/pw info. That way I can go to Keychain Access in the /Applications/Utilities folder, and retrieve my password.
There's no easy way to get the announce e-mail to contain the login and password info - I usually type up my own announcement and add the login and password, as well as the way to access the photocast via Safari only (replace "photocast" in the URL with "web", e.g. http://web.mac.com/<rest of path> instead of http://photocast.mac.com/<rest of path>
The plus for adding the login info to the email is that you can retrieve the information from your sent emails mailbox. I like to subscribe to my own photcasts just to make sure I'm seeing what my subscribers are seeing - sometimes the photos don't make it through perfectly.

Your iCloud password is your Apple ID and password. You must know it since you are posting here.
Have you transfered your MMe account to iCloud? If not, open iCloud in system preferences and sign in with your Apple ID and password.
If you have transfered it to iCloud, do this:
Go to the iCloud icon in System Preferences and open it. Sign out of iCloud.
Open Mail. If the iCloud or MMe account still exists in Mail's preferences under accounts, select the account and delete it. Then sign back into iCloud and choose Mail and any other applications in iCloud that you use. The Mail account should be put into Mail automatically.
Signing out of iCloud should remove the account from Mail and signing back in should put it back. There is no manuel account creation by you when using Apple Mail application.

Mail password doesn't work only with my Airport unit with MacBook, iPhone, iPad

Starting a couple of weeks ago, and every week for a few hours, my mail password will be rejected on my MacBook, iPad and iPhone when connected through my Airport Extreme. I'm not sure whether this is related to the firmware upgrade I did two weeks ago. It had never happened before.
The password is correct. When I connect from any of these devices through another network, it works fine. The problem only occurs with Mail, and only through my particular Airport Extreme (4th generation N) unit.
All other Internet access through this unit works fine.
The mail account is an IMAP account through Intermedia. An Exchange account with Intermedia (a separate mailbox) works fine on both my computer using Microsoft Outlook and iPhone Mail.
The last time this happened, the problem randomly fixed itself within a few hours. Now it's happening again.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Fixed itself again two hours later. Intermedia is not reporting any problems and since the other mail account (on the same server) works fine, I don't think it relates to them.
