Right Indent Tab

In CS2, with a left-justified paragraph, how do I get an line of page numbers to right-align following a Right Indent Tab?

You must use Area Type (Click and drag box with the Type Tool)
"Set type here [ hit tab ] Set Type here"
Then right align the type.

Right-Indenting the last paragraph line in a Table Of Contents entry

Hi,
I'm using CS4 In Design.
I'm trying to format the paragraph styles for my Table of Contents.
I have the tab leaders working, everything looks good except that I have entries that have multiple lines, and I can't find a way to format the TOC paragraphs so that the lines BEFORE the last line are right-indented more than the last line (which of course contains the tab leads and page number).
I'd like to not have to go into my text and manually add Right Index Tabs in every heading instance that will be pulled into the TOC.

One manually breaks the line short (or lives with no leaders) using a
shift-return. I usually finesse TOCs after I think the client is mostly
done with correcting.

I'm not sure what that means. If you're using a right-aligned tab (or
two tabs, if you want to right-align the ends of the leaders) your
numbers should right-align on the tab setting. Exactly. Nothing should
be "nudged to the right".

Bulleted text with a right-aligned tab with a line leader...

I am using Pages '09 and am trying to have a tabbed line after bulleted text. I can do this in Word '11...set a right-aligned tab with a line leader then tab at the end of the text and it adds a line. When I tab after text in Pages, it indents the bullet.

Do two paragraph breaks and then delete the lat one. Now you can do the tabbed line

Confused by right indent results in tables

Hi. Please Help. I have set an entire book of tables in indd cs3, but find my results from the tab panel erratic to non-existent.
For the examples below, text is set to left align:
1 - When the decimal tab is selected and the ruler is clicked everything aligns to it whether there is a decimal or not. (this is fine).
2 - When I select the right tab and click on the rule a line can be seen in the table at the correct position but the text does not move to align with it. (I have tried this with text aligned right, eventhough I have read Dave Blatner on the subject.)
3 - When I select the left tab and click on a rule text generally moves to the correct position but not always.
I have the following clunky workarounds, but would prefer to know why I am not able to use the left and right tabs consistently.
A - Workaround 1: set the right text to right align and then use the tab on the right to bring text into the correct position.
B - Workaround 2: use the left indent tab to set the left aligned text in the column.
In the workflow I have set up paragraph styles, used these in cell styles, and then used the cell styles in table styles.
The relevant text is in columns set below merged and centred information in the header.
I have restarted and cleared out prefs as well as exporting to an inx file but I am still not winning.
Please help as I think these tables will be repurposed for different uses and it would be pleasant to overcome the issues.

From your screen shot I see you are using CS3, but that doesn't appear to be the cause, as the behavior is still present up to CS5.
I'm far from an expert on tables -- I hate and avoid working with them as much as possible -- but it appears to me that the decimal tab is "implied" in the cell if you set one, that is tabbing into any cell in which a decimal-aligned tab is present will move the text to the tab position. This is extremely useful for tables with columns of numbers in cells as it speeds up entry by relieving you from having to insert the tab in each cell with a number. On the other hand, the other sorts of tabs seem to be "explicit" or require you to insert the tab character into the text string in order to take advantage. This makes sense to me, more or less, also, since you are more likely to want generally left, center or right-aligned text in any cell and wouldn't need a tab to set that.
Is there a reason that setting the paragraph to right aligned and adding either a right indent to the paragraph style or a right inset to the cell style won't work as well as setting a tab stop in the definition? Do you want your right-aligned tab stops in different places in different cells? If this is something that can be controlled by a style definition, that's the way to do it, rather than by manually inserting a tab into the cell.

How can I put the "open new tab" button back to the right of the right most tab in FF 4?

It's very annoying to have to go up to the corner to click on the open new tab button when it used to be to the right of the right most tab. I have other buttons, like print up there and have to think about which one to click. What was wrong with where it was? It worked for me. At least tell me how, or allow me to change it back. It is one thing to make a product faster but allow the users to keep things in familiar places if they want. I've liked that option on Firefox with most things. I've been a Minefield then Shiretoko user for a number of years an I think I will stick with it for the foreseeable future.

Thanks. I don't know why it wouldn't just go back there when I tried putting it back? I didn't change anything, so I assumed the new "default" was over on the left. Glad it was a simple solution after all.

How to put the URL-bar at a fixed position to the right of tabs ?

I have moved the URL-BAR to the right of tabs, on the same row, and reduced the size with a few lines in "userChrome.css".
I want the URL-bar to be at a fixed position as far to the right as possible, so i get as much free space as i can for my tabs.
I´m using FF 20.

Sounds that you are using wrong code in the userChrome.css file.
You can set the max-width of the location bar and the search bar to force a maximum width of both bars.

Set indention / tab size in Oracle SQL Developer

I've been poking around for an hour. Can't figure this out.
Where, either on the app's UI or in the "product-preferences.xml" file, can I change SQL Developer's indention (tab) size to 3? My organization uses PowerBuilder, and when I copy+paste our PB SQL (which uses leading tabs) into Oracle SQL Developer, it looks like crap. It would really help if I could change the code editor to a tab size equivalent to three spaces.
And no, we can’t use spaces. :-)

In 1.5.x, it's under Preferences - Database - SQL Formatter - Alignment and Indentation .
However, at least in the current 1.5.3, a bug ignores the tab preferences completely, so you're stuck with the 2 spaces. If you can't wait until this gets fixed (with luck in the upcoming 1.5.4 or else maybe by 2.0), revert to an earlier version.

Unable to find Right Indent when definition contains decimal number

Dear all,
I recieved a very long text from Microsoft Word, all set to "Normal" style. How annoying...
Anyway, some of the paragraphs are set with Right Indent that it's size is 15.011 mm. To my knowledge, Indesign shows up to 3 numbers afer the period even if there is more.
The problem is that when I perfome search for this size (15.011 mm) it could not find anything and I think it's because of the hidden decimal numbers, but i'm not sure.
Any solution will be great

It's probably a rounding problem. I'd try to get the exact measurement directly from the Word file and enter that in the ID dialog, including the units. If that doesn't work, I know I saw a similar question here, but it was more than a year ago, so a google search would be in order.

Right Click / Tab advance function

I can not figure out how to advance slides when alternate
keys are used (i.e. right click, tab, etc.). I could not find the
download that had been referred to by "Kim" in a previous thread
about right click advancements.
Please tell me how to make this work...I have Captivate 3.
I'm trying to teach users an application and they will need to use
alternate keystrokes often to truly learn the correct function.

1) Right-click is not natively supported but can be added
with a little effort. Options for both browser and .EXE are
summarized in this thread:

2) To advance slides with keys, insert a click box or button
on your slide and use the shortcut key option at the bottom of the
properties dialog. For movies that are published to .HTM/.SWF, some
keys that have a function in the browser, like Tab, are problematic
but most other keys work fine.

Indent /tab position for text from INCLUDE texts in SAPscript

Hi, ABAP colleagues!
Need your help on this sapscript problem: How to align texts taken from "INCLUDE TEXT" in SAPscript, according to tab defined in Paragraph Format?
Or, how to control tab positions for texts which were extracted from INCLUDE text commands in SAPscript?
I defined a paragraph format with tab stop at 8 CH so that with 2 commas (,,) my text will be displayed there. However it always appears to the left (e.g. 1st column) and not indented at the proper column for description/text (e.g. which is in second column).
Pls help, bec a different heading and information is not acceptable to client for the Thailand characters.
Above is the description of the problem. Below are some technical details.
For specific example, I am editing Zversion of standard sap MM form MEDRUCK Window Main - Text Element Item Text.

Items for addon missing in right-click tabs menu

I use Tab Mix Plus
When I right-click a tab, the menu doesn't show the menu items for Tab mix plus.
I had the same problem with all addon items in the Firefox menu not showing up (they didn't show up under Open menu|Customise either.
I backed everything up with addon FEBE, reset firefox, then restored everything with FEBE and this fixed the menu items.
The reset and restore also fixed another problem where the icons for new addons weren't showing up in the row of icons next to the search bar (don't know what those are called).
I also can't login to this support site in firefox - it keeps telling me to create an account - and so am using another browser for this message and have manually added troubleshooting Information.

As for the icons missing from the right click menu, try to reinstall the add on to see if this solves it like last time.

Weird invisable indent/tab

Dear anyone,
Does anyone else have a problem with a weird "space" that makes your text indent to the right? Like, no matter how much you move your text box around, the "space" stays in the same spot and your words just flow around it (like text wrap). See screen shot below.
I thought I had fixed it before. I discovered if you selected the text box and move it to a new layer and then arrowed the text box one space (in any direction) the text would snap back into place. Or also, if you selected all the text and then played around with the "span columns" it would snap back into place. But sadly neither of these are working now.
And this problem happens randomly. A document could be just fine and then suddenly this happens. Wierd! Any help is appreciated because I'm tired of having to start all over.

I did so, because the example file looks not very professionell. I did so, because Arial was used.
My opinion is that not even one pargraph in InDesign should be written without any paragraph style and no layer name should remain with its default generic name.

[SOLVED] How can I turn off the annoying auto indent tabs in VIM?

I'm coding in Python and VIM is auto-tabbing each new line. It's a real buzz kill.
When I hit enter at the left margine, even when there is nothing on the line above the cursor, it shoots out a tab and three spaces. I've switched to nano but feel lost without VIM. I've never seen this behavior before. I've turned off all of the auto indentation options I can think of.

Unfortunately, I have to do a ":set indexexpr='' " each time I start VIM. I've got it in the .vimrc but it seems to be ignored.
I'm used to Ubuntu and this feels really weird. It's like profiles aren't processed.
I would appreciate it if somoeone would point me in the correct direction.
