RMAN problem while backing up SunMC-3.6.1 online

Hi Geeks,
I am having trouble while online backing up SunMC(3.6.1) running on Solaris10 (11/06).
The exact error message in log file is

Can someone please suggest where the problem is.?The online backup was working fine on Solaris9, the problem only occured when we upgrade this server (Blade2500 w/s) to Solaris10.

Hi Zia-ul-Hassan,
You mentioned you performed an OS upgrade - did you follow the migration guide (http://www.sun.com/software/whitepapers/solaris9/sunmc_datamigration.pdf) when you changed over your Server?
If not, SunMC does have paths under /opt/SUNWsymon with the OS version baked in (i.e. /opt/SUNWsymon/base/lib/sparc-sun-solaris2.9) and if you just copied your Server files to a new OS you likely broke many things :)

    the scripts are okay. these scritps have been use for long and while checking it, dont seem to see any error.
    after the error, both the recovery catalog and target database are okay! i.e up and running.
    one question ai would like to ask though is while the backup is going through and the recovery catalog database is down, is there going to be any downside???
    Also, am having a two tape drive but right now, only one frive is active! but in the script, two channels are opened, should it be better to edit the script and have one script since only one tape drive is gonna be use for backup???

    There is no application called "Adobe" - you are either working with Adobe Acrobat or the free Adobe Reader. Open up the preferences for the application (Edit>Preferences), then go to the "General" category and modify the settings for "Scale for screen resolution". You will have to restart the application after you do that. Does that fix your problems?

    column name in the resultset. So I am using this as a column in Jato
    Descriptor for Plan_Dt. Now it is working fine.

  • An error occurred while backing up the user's  home folder

    I have a user account that I'm trying to remove from a computer. I have updated to 10.5.2, and restarted a number of times and repaired permissions. There were 3 accounts on the machine I'm trying to remove, and the first 2 deleted just fine. However, this last one, the most important one, will not delete and save to a dmg file.
    The error message is "an error occurred while backing up the user's home folder" shortly after beginning the process.

    any ideas?

    This is the correct steps to solve this problem:
    1. Cancel the update (with the backing up error, of course)
    2. Do a manual backup
    3. Do a manual restore (your password to unlock your backup file is your AppleID password, not your IPhone keypad password)
    4. Now Update your phone. This time the backup should work.
    5. After it is updated, it will automatically restore, if you choose to restore not to set up a new phone.
    And yes, copy all your photos manually. Your backup probabally won't include photos.
    If this still doesn't work, try to stop your anti-virus software.

  • HT1414 while backing up an error occurs displaying that data could not be backed up due to an unknown error(-25).

    while backing up with itunes, it displays that itunes could not back up data as unknown error(-25) occured..please find a fix to this problem..

    I had the same "Error creating the backup folder" error - many times over.
    I went into the Disk Utility, selected the Backup Disk and ran Verify. It checked out OK. But if not, could have run Repair.
    Then did a complete shutdown and restart of the iMac and then tried "Backup Now" from the Time Machine icon's menu - it worked fine.

    As earlier Oracle E-biz Application are not working in OFT8.5 but now in the latest version OFT9.0 as per the information it will work fine.
    But i'm facing the problem while playback the Oracle E-biz Application.
    I have recorded Order Management Process in Oracle Apps11i. At the time of recording its work fine.
    Steps which i had done
    1) Login into the application
    2) Click on the Responsibility Order Management--> Sales Order
    3) It opens the external Applet window
    4) Open the Sales Order Form where i enter the Customer Name and add the line item for the customer and then book the order
    Stop the Recording and then playback the script
    It works perfectly fine till step3 but on Step4 what ever the action user had done on Sales Order Form it is not playing back that action and just close the form and generate the Pass Result.
    So i want to know why it is not playback the action which user had done on the form.
    I really appreciate if any one can give the solution to the problem

    Which concurrent manager consumes the CPU usage? Are you able to identify it?
    Any errors in the CM log file? Did you try to start the CM with diag=y and see if any errors are reported in the log files?
    What happen to the CPU usage when you stop the CM?
    I assume that you are running Purge Concurrent Manager/Requests on regular basis, so this should not be an issue here.

    Your server certificate expired. You need to update your identity keystore with a new certificate.
    The expired certificate was issued by the demo BEA certificate authority (CA). These certs are not adequate for production but if you want to take this approach for your new cert you'll have to use the BEA CertGen utility. Have a look at http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs70/secmanage/ssl.html for more details.
    Your other option is to use Java's keytool utility to create a private key. You'd then generate a certificate signing request (CSR) that you'd send to a CA such as Verisign. You might even have a CA in-house. The CA will then send you a signed certificate that you load in your keystore. Assuming you've configured WebLogic to use this keystore you should be back in business with SSL.

    I've downloaded IOS4 and am trying to upgrade by 3G, but when I hit the upgrade button, I'm told repeatedly that there's an error backing up the Iphone (-50). I've reset the Iphone, turned off my firewall, rebooted, but I get the same message.
    The thing is, I remember several months ago that my syncing was taking an hour every time because of the back ups. (I keep a large amount of data in a third party app.) I came here and learned how to prevent my 3G from backing up every sync, and my syncs have gone really fast since then. The problem is that I've forgotten what I did or how to change the settings. If I right-click "Iphone" under "Devices" in Itunes, I don't get any option to create a backup, nor can I find any "backup" command anywhere in Itunes (latest version).
    I can't even figure out where to go (assuming there is a place to go) to check when my Iphone was last backed up. Itunes is giving me the option to go ahead and update without a backup, but I don't want to do that until I at least know when was the last time my Iphone was backed up.
    Can anyone tell me (a) where to go to check my backup history, and (b) how to get my phone to back up, assuming that it's not doing so? Thanks!

    The same thing happens to me.
    I've tried two times to upgrade to iPhone OS 4.0, leaving the phone offline and syncing for 10 hours... the backup proceeds sluggish and about 5% it stops with the message:
    "An error occurred while backing up this Iphone (-50)
    Would you like to continue to update this iPhone without backup?
    CONTINUING WITHOUT BACKUP WILL RESULT IN THE LOSS OF ALL CONTENT"
    If I try to Continue another message says:
    "The iPhone could not be updated because the firmware file was corrupt. Disconnect and reconnect, then try again."
    I've never even tried to hack or jailbreak my iPhone, and everything was normal since I try to upgrade to OS 4.0

    - iPhone 3G 16GB (14.64 full), sw 3.1.3
    - iTunes 9.2 (61) running on Snow Leopard 10.6.2

    I have never seen this issue.
    Try this, ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:

    delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote, using Appcleaner from Mac Update, its a freeware application

    empty the trash:  Finder > Empty Trash
    3 
    Shut down your Mac, wait 30 seconds, then power on the Mac, immediately after the start chime, hold down the Shift key
    When you see the grey Apple symbol and progress indicator (a spinning gear), release the Shift key.
    If you are prompted to log in, type your password, then hold down the Shift key again as you click Log in. 
    Let the Mac fully boot up, it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive

    when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive then First Aid tab and click  repair disc permissions

    when complete, restart the Mac normally, Apple menu > Restart
