Roaming charges for incoming international calls?

That's pretty much my question. I read somewhere on here that I would NOT be charged for long distance or roaming if my IPhone 5 receives incoming calls from Germany. Before I tell my family that they can call me, I want to be absolutely sure of that.
Thanks for your help!

Just like a landline, an incoming international call will not have any add'l charges. But it will use minutes from your allotment, unless it is after 9pm (Or 7pm if you have an Alltel plan)
UPDATE: From VZW Website:
If someone calls me internationally from outside the U.S. will I be charged extra?
No, you won't be charged long distance or roaming fees if you're in the U.S and someone calls you from outside the U.S.

  • Charges for receiving international calls

Can you tell me if I receive a call from Germany on my cell phone, will I get charged anything other than minutes? Is ther a per minute charge for receiving a call?  If so, how much?  If not, awesome!
I just have a normal Nationwide (US) plan on my phone.
    Thanks!

If you receive the call within the Verizon network in the US, then it is just charged as minutes. If it is on the weekend or after 9PM and before 7AM, then it will not count against your monthly allowance.
Additionally, if it is from another Verizon cellular phone, the minutes should not count against your monthly allowance.

  • Looking for a International Calling Plan + Data?

    Hello,
Let me first start by saying I am deploying to South Korea (Osan AFB) .
I am looking for a plan with unlimited data usage and at least 450 minutes. I was reading about your global phones and south Korea is CDMA so that is good. It looks like I would have to get a new Droid but that's alright.
I have a few questions though:
    1.  How does the data work for that plan? I don't quite understand how it works.
    2.  It says its $1.99 per minute, do you really charge by the minute? $1.99 is steep for a minute,
If I used 200 minutes at that rate my bill would cost $398 plus the taxes and other expenses.
    3. What can the party  I am calling expect? Would it have to be a world phone to?
I am just really trying to figure out how much this would cost.
    Thanks,
    Freddy

I would strongly reccomend AGAINST trying to use your Verizon service overseas.  As you've discovered, the per minute rates are quite high, and your unlimited data plan will not work there, you would need to pay roaming rates for data as well, and they are no more palatable than the voice rates for international service.
Once you get to South Korea, you should research local carriers and get service from one that is affordable and has the services you need, probably a prepaid carrier.
To your last question, Verizon customers are not charged international rates for INCOMING international calls, so you could call back to the States from your local cellphone, landline, or VoIP provider, and they would be charged the same as if they were getting a call from another phone in the US.

  • Skype Charges for Received Video Calls

Under Skype's current payment plan policy is there a charge to a Skype receiver of a video call?

Just wanted to post a more current reply. After spending some time today in online chat with VZ support, and having the rep tell me that incoming international calls ARE charged for roaming, and me persisting to get the correct answer ... she checked with global support and DID confirm Grothka's answer: that is, if the VZ customer is in the US and receives an international call, they are ONLY charged minutes; no additional fees.

  • Why I am being charged for receiving missed calls in Argentina?

I have received charges for receiving missed calls which doesn't seem right as I am not answering them, knowing I will get charged. Not happy about this as my bill is much higher than expected. And my bill states I have called my Voicemail on 3 occasions which again is not correct. Can any one help? I cannot call EE as I will be charged as well.

If you leave your voicemail turned on when you roam abroad outside the EU, any missed calls you may get, the caller will be diverted to your voicemail as normal.  However, as the voicemail platform is located in the UK, when roaming with your handset outside the EU, this in turn will always generate an international call back to the UK.
Those calls to voicemail you are seeing on your bill are these automatic diverts.
It's always advisable to turn off your voicemail when roaming to stop this from happening.
Details here with instructions on how to turn off your voicemail diverts.

Can i use iphone to iphone for free international calls and text messages?

If both iPhone users are on iMessage, texting will be free, though there may be data charges if you do not have Wi-Fi. You can use FaceTime Audio in iOS 7 and later to call people but regular phone calls still count against your phone plan.

  • IMessage and Facetime Activation charges with an international call

    Hi there,
my mobile provider charged me for two international calls, which i thought i didn't make. I live in germany and the calls were made to a number in the united kingdom. So i did some research and could narrow it down to the configuration of my new iPhone 4s. I could recreate the international call: it seems that the iPhone 4s calls the uk number to activate the iMessage and the Facetime services.
Why is that so? The iMessage and Facetime activation on my iPad worked just fine over wifi without any extra costs.
I don't mind the 58 cent those calls cost me, but I'm a little bit ****** about the fact, that it was charged without any warning or notice.
Why isn't the activation possible over wifi or at least 3G?
    Thanks, bye.

    Hi,
I have the same problem! How can it be that after I changed my AppleID password, iMessage is deactivated and needs to be activated again?? For another 50 cents!! Like you said, it's just a few cents, but it's still annoying if you have to pay everytime you change your password!!
I hope Apple can fix this soon!
    Cheers.

  • How can I block all incoming international calls?

How can I block all incoming international calls?

Verizon does not value me as a customer because they would not assist me with getting the blocks done. The services Verizon offered, "Family Base" does not block what I and many, many, many, more verizon customers need.  The APP is working GREAT! In the 1st two days it blocked over 25 unwanted solicitations from India. It blocked "unknown", Private, 1234, 123456789566, 000-000-0000, and other 10 digit numbers! NOKIA has done a fabulous job with the developement of their APP. Verizon could block these calls but is not willing to do so and in the process try to sell me a product that wouldn't work.

  • To avoid roaming charges when traveling internationally, do i put my iphone on airplane mode only or do i also need to turn off data and voice roaming

I have an iphone 4 with sprint which can't take a sim card.  To avoid roaming charges while traveling internationally, do i put my phone on airplane mode.
I read you need to turn off cellular and voice data roaming as well but when I turn on airplane mode, it seems like roaming is automatically turned off.
    Is this true?

Turning on Airplane Mode will prevent the phone from getting roaming charges as it cant connect to a cell tower.
P.S you can have WiFi on and still be in Airplan Mode. Just turn Airplane Mode on first, then turn the WiFi on

  • Incoming International calls receiving problem.

    Hi Team,
I have ISDN PRI E1 connection and i am able to recieve all international calls except two DID number. But I am able to receive national calls
without having any problem. Also noticed that We are able to recieve international calls from certain countries in these DID number.
Also noticed that call is hitting in the gateway and getting debug isdn q931 output with proper digit and Isdn Type:International.
For testing we replaced the phone with another, but issue has same.
Let me know  either is there any  problem with PBX system or problem with Service Provider.
Thanks in advance for your help!!!!
    Best Regards,
    Febin S

    Hi
Provide the debug outputs " debug isdn q931" and "debug voip ccapi inout" when the incoming call is been made.
This will help you to identify the Release Cause for the Call, based on that you can decide the call failure reason while hitting
    the Gateway.

  • Over Charged for One phone call??

Was charged over $400.00 for one (1) phone call while in port on a cruise ship. Was told that although no data was used/received or seen that the phone was roaming while using that call and am being charged for roaming.  How do you make a call without turning on your phone?? This is outrageous!! Very upsetting from a Company that we have done business with for over 25 years!!!! Maybe we need to switch to another service that includes Global with their packages??

Data isn't used for calls anyway. Most cruise ships aren't covered with global plans because they have their own tower on the ship and set their own rates. If you made a call and the ship's tower was still on (they supposedly turn them off when the ship is close to the port), you would be using the ship's signal as that one would be the strongest. In other words,  even if it was a domestic port the ship's tower would supersede any local towers. If you made the call then the bill will probably stick.  You also say the phone wasn't turned on, so I don't actually know what the situation was.

  • When am I charged for a Skype Call

My family is in Chile and I am wondering if I would be charged for skyping them from my ipone.  My understanding  is that if I am on wifi then no but what if I am using 3 G or 4 G.  My daughtered messaged me when I was not on wifi.
So, bottom line, when do I incur charges on my phone from using skype.
When would I get international data charges
When would I get international phone charges
    Thanks!

some Skype services such as Skype-to-Skype calls, conference calls, chat and group chat, 1-on-1 video calls are indeed free of charge. However, some services such as Skype-to-mobile/landline number, group video calls, voicemail, SMS, online number, etc requires credits or subscriptions.  Please also check if you ISP provider charge you on per data sent/received basis.

  • Block incoming international calls?

I am getting incoming phone calls from 2348173632154 -- spam from a Nigerian caller! I cannot block it, because it is a 13-digit number and not a 10-digit number. Does anyone know how I can block it through other means?

        Hi Gcambp8424!
I realize unexpected calls can be frustrating! Unfortunately, international numbers with more than 10 digits can not be blocked. Keep in mind, you will not be billed for receiving an international call while you a located in the United States. To view our Call & Messaging block feature visit:http://vz.to/1nMgSTH .

  • How to add 900 to the CLI of incoming international calls where suppliers sends in "+"

    Hello,
I am trying to modify the displayed CLI on my phones for international calls from the SIP provider we are using, they are sending international calls CLI in the format sip:[email protected], I'd like to replace the "+" with "900" to allow callback from the missed call directory. I don't believe I can match on the "+" using translation patterns on the router.
I am running a 2900ISR as the gateway and a CM 9.5 platform.
    Thanks

    Hi,
This is what I normally do on ISDN :-
    voice translation-rule 100
     rule 1 /^/ /900/ type international international
     rule 2 /^/ /9/ type national national
     rule 3 /^/ /9/ type unknown unknown
But this being a SIP I am trying :-
    voice translation-rule 100
     rule 1  /^/ /9/  for in country CLI's
and some rule that swaps "+" for 900, but I was under the impression + is a special character that does not match on a translation pattern ?

  • Why does Skype charge for group video calls?

    Yes, this is a rant.
Yes, I hold little hope of receiving a meaningful response.
These being said, I hope that if more people point out the absurdity of charging for a feature currently freely available from a major competitor (one would hope Goggle shows as such on Skype's radar?), who knows, Somebody at Microsoft/Skype will slap they forehead at the sudden realization that they are losing market share that will be very hard (if not impossible) to regain.
I can already hear the arguments against making this (and other features, such as US/Canada calls) free going on incessantly about lost revenue and the next quarter results - I've used to work for a behemoth and that's how they die: never considering loss of customer good will, bad reputation and the resulting inevitable mass migration to competitor's solution in response to the company's obvious ineptitude. It never seems to dawn on them that losing some revenue now means living to fight another day.
Oh well, the battle between the giants was interesting to watch - until I've realized that one of the giants is blind.
    Oh, and BTW:
I had to write this message a second time - IE11 crashed when I tried to preview the first iteration. Microsoft FTW! (yes, that was sarcastic - I am now making a copy of the entire post before submitting, just in case)
Also, your spellchecker flags Skype as an error - I guess the spellchecker is on to something.
