Robohelp Air Export

When i generate a Robohelp export of Adobe Air + Web Help
files the program gets stuck in a loop when generating the export
folders and creates a folder one after another in the folder it has
just created, hanging the program but also causing windows to play
up because you cannot remove folders easily after its created 200
odd folders.
Anyone know the cause of this problem, how to bypass it? PS
this is the trial version, so i dont know if there are any such
problems in the full release or if there is a patch yet.

I appreciate
why you might not based on how Robohelp compiles - having a
think of it in the light of day, regardless of all that it shouldnt
happen. :) Its not really a wish list request, its a bug (I wish it
wouldnt create 300 folders of course but it shouldnt and thats a
different matter). All major software requires entry error
trapping, if its something that the user shouldnt do (which it must
be because creating 300 folders and breaking windows is not
something anyone wants) then the product should prevent it to stop
users making the same mistake.
Though it could be funny having a dialogue box "Press OK if
you want to mess with your Windows folder structure". ;)

  • I cannot make Robohelp 9 export epubs

I have tried with very little succes all day making Robohelp 9 export to epub.
I am running techcomm 3.5 full version on win 7/64 bit.
I have opend a very small FrameMaker 10 book file with a front page, a toc and a 7 pages content file with some 7 or 8 pictures. I have created a Robohelp project and imported the book and done a toc. But I cannot export to epub. I have tried inserting the new jsx script, updated and tried different versions of 7zip and zip  - all to no avail. Robohelp is no help and crashes on trying to create the epub file. It WILL create epub files of the sample content which came along with the install and it WILL work if I delete all pictures in my content  - but this is hardly a real life scenario... I am utterly frustrated by this. Does anybody have a clue what is wrong here?
BTW I have read the post right before me with somewhat similar content - but it didn't seem to reach a conclusion

Thanks for the answers. I am beginning to like Robohelp. Still - I cannot figure the isf thing out. When I create a project I import Frame files. I create isf settings for the Frame import and export the isf file. So far so good. But now I want to change for instance the sizing of graphics on import or the mapping of paragraph formats. So I go to File/Project settings - but I can no longer access these settings. I can no longer access the settings for mapping, graphics etc. And I don't get it. Shouldn't I be able to edit the isf file here?
    Regards
    Bjørn
Short answer is no, that is not how you edit the settings. You need to read through my instructions again for the detail but the short version is this.
Step 1 is to go to Project Settings and select the CSS you want.
Step 2 is to start the import and apply all the settings you want.
Step 3 is before you import, you export all those settings to an ISF file.
Step 4 is next time you want to import you will see Custom in the ISF file. Browse to the ISF file you want and if no changes are required, you should be good to go but check. If changes are required, make them and export again overwriting the first file.
Now for the really unintuitive bit.
Next time you import, you will see Settings.ISF at the start of the process. Not unreasonably you will say to yourself "I updated those so I am good to go". WRONG. You will be working with the settings you saved in Step 3. If you want the updated settings, you have to browse to the updated file.
Don't shoot the messenger. I didn't create that workflow.

  • RoboHelp AIR Layouts with RoboHelp 7?

I am currently designing a new online help system using
RoboHelp 7. As I began to research RoboHelp 7 (I haven't used it
since X5) I stumbled upon AIR. I really love the layouts and UI
functionality within AIR. However, I do not need the installer
packaging features that AIR provides. I only want the layout! Is is
possible to import a RoboHelp AIR layout into RoboHelp 7 HTML
(perhaps using a custom Single Source layout??), without having to
    use the packager/install features?

    Welcome to our community, Ayanna
I'm not sure which of the AIR skins you are enamored with,
but you should know that there is no way to transfer them to
RoboHelp 7 as a skin you may use there. They are mutually
exclusive. For anyone wondering, whatever RoboHelp skin you are
using is not used in the resulting AIR application either.

  • Error message in Robohelp Air

I've been fiddling around with the Robohelp Packager for Air
to create a help file. However, in my output, every time I click
the Preferences button at the bottom of the actual Air help file I
generated, I get an "Error while executing database query" message
    appearing.
I then get to the Preferences window and can elect to
show/don't show the Mini TOC, etc. and that appears to work. But I
can't figure out why I'm getting that message (or what it means).
I think it relates somehow to the commenting feature because
I also can't add comments to a topic either. When I try, I get the
    same "database query" message.
    Any ideas?

My help id is simply three characters, alpha-numeric, and
with no spaces. So I don't think that's the issue.
The strange thing is, I get the database query error on my
machine (I wrote the Web help and I packaged the Air file).
But I installed the Air runtime as well as my Robohelp Air
help on a test machine here in the office and I don't get the
"database query" on that machine. I can also add comments while on
    the test machine.
However, I can't get those comments into my Robohelp air help
on my machine using the Send/Receive error because of the "database
    query" error.
There is also no hardware/setup differences between my
machine and the test machine that I am aware of. But I'm gonna plug
away and see if something else stands out.

  • Problem generating RoboHelp AIR file

    Hi:
I installed the RoboHelp Packager for Air to work with my
Adobe RoboHelp 7 on Windows XP Professional.
I get a "WebHelp folder could not be copied" message after I
click the "Generate" button in the AIR wizard. It does show me the
progress bar with the title "Generating AIR Package", but after a
few minutes, I get the "WebHelp folder could not be copied"
message. And then another message "The Adobe AIR package could not
    be generated".
My WebHelp folder is 80MB and contains 3700 files and 43
    subfolders.
However, if I keep all the AIR wizard settings same but
change ONLY the WebHelp folder location to the generated output of
the CustomerCare sample RoboHelp project (2 MB; 224 files and 8
folders), then the AIR file is successfully generated.
So this leads me to believe there is a limit on the size of
the WebHelp folder to generate the AIR file successfully. Does
someone know what is this upper limit?
Also, I ruled out the possibility of the WebHelp file
path/location being the problem because my 80 MB WebHelp folder
that did not work was in D:/ABCD/WebHelp while the RoboHelp
CustomerCare 2MB WebHelp folder that worked was in C:\Documents and
    Settings\All Users\Documents\Documents\Adobe\Adobe RoboHelp
    7\RoboHTML\Samples\CustomerCare\!SSL!\WebHelp_US.
I also tried moving my 80MB WebHelp folder to D:/WebHelp. No
    luck. Same Error.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
The issue which Geoff was facing has been resolved. I thought of passing the same information to the user forum, so that other users can benefit from this as well.
The main problem which Geoff was facing was links were not working as expected for some of the popups in case of RHA file.
The problem was in the file-names for the popup topics, The name of some of the popup topic file was having a unicode charcter in the file-name. Since RHA is basically a zip file, the unicode name was not getting saved  properly in the zipped RHA file. Changing the name of popup topic file (topic properties dialog), solved the problem of link break.
As a thumb of rule, Users should try to keep the file names as simple ASCII characters, to avoid any unforseen issues. One more thing which is a problem is unicode file names having other issues when published on web-servers, as different browsers behave in different ways for unicode characters in web URL.
One more question which also came up was how to ensure a proper order of labels shown in help application, in case of multiple help files.
Well RoboHelp AIR Help application uses the id attribute provided in the helpcfg file to acertain the order of all the help files. So changing the id attribute also changes the order of Label in the AIR application.
I hope it will help other users going forward.
    Thanks
    Praful

  • Calling RoboHelp Air file  from C# (C sharp)

Has anyone ever called RoboHelp Air files (locally) from an application written in C#? We need help with making this type of help work in our app. We believe we will use the same calls as Web Help (is that correct). Are there any special function calls that we need to use to make it work?
We previously used a *.chm file and it worked. We want to go to Adobe Air.
We are doing context-sensitive help, and using RH9.
My developer has a 64-bit Window machine, using C#.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks - Jess

This post has information from Praful Jain (of Adobe) and a link to another relevant thread. There was a link to it in the article on my site.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2503999#2503999
As your developer is using C#, you should also look at the OLH as there is information about you being able to create the calls.
I thought there were other resources on this and am trying to find them.

  • Can't open browser window from RoboHelp AIR app??!

We've got a RoboHelp course that we're exporting as an AIR app using the  Packager and it works great. We've got an embedded flash file that  needs to open a website in a browser window, but, currently it will only  load the site in a new AIR window...any ideas??

I'm having this same problem also, although you gave me one option in your reply.  I can't get the "Allow" button to work either. I upgraded to Adobe Reader 9.2, and then is when I noticed I couldn't bring up the websites that I usually could before.  I don't really know what you mean about "Stand Alone Option," but I will try to find out.  I also upgraded to Internet Explorer 8, but I'm not sure if this is when the problem started or when I went to Adobe Reader 9.2.
I used to be able to get "Allow" to work if I opened the document in IE8 and not in AR 9.2, but now that won't even work. I did email the author of a PDF document I was in today in the hopes he would have the answer, but I'm not sure if I got his email address right, so time will tell on that issue.
I have a "library" of PDF documents, so I would really like to get this problem fixed.  However, I've spent at least two hours on this issue, and I really don't think it has anything to do with Windows Vista incompatibility; I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Adobe Reader, but that doesn't help much given I have emailed support and, of course, have never received an answer.
I do know there are a lot of people that are having this exact same problem, but no one has an answer to it.  I've tried to do research on this, but I have a lot of "to do" tasks I need to get done every day, so it's not like I have all the time in the world to try and fix this problem.
I would appreciate hearing from you if you do ever figure this out. My email address is [email address deleted by host] should you find an answer to this very frustrating problem. Warmly, Corinne Larimore [signature deleted by host]

  • Adobe: Please Give Us An RoboHelp - AIR Help Forum

    Hi all,
A client of mine is very interested in the AIR Help format
after I showed them a test project. As with any new format, there
are risks and bugs, and I want to know about as many of them as
possible before I begin a large project with tight deadlines where
I do not have a lot of time to troubleshoot, tweak, and test. I'm
feeling a little frustrated trying to get all of the info I need
and wondering "Is Adobe really behind this new format or not?"
(Yes, I have the RoboHelp Packager PDF.) Those who are kind enough
to jump in and investigate this new format are posting sometimes in
General, sometimes in HTMLHelp, sometimes in the AIR developers
forum, etc. (I see a link on grainge.org to a RoboHelp Packager
forum that isn't working...perhaps a Beta forum that's now closed?)
On that note, THANK YOU, Peter Grainge, for taking the time to
provide very helpful information about AIR Help on your site...
Most of you reading probably will not recognize my name simply
because over the years, I have found almost all of the answers I
needed by searching prior posts and putting Peter's solutions to
work in my own projects. Now I hope to be able to give back to this
community if I delve into AIR Help, but we all need one place to
    post :-)!

  • RoboHelp air help application does not show pdf files

    Hello everyone,
I hope this is the right place to post my problem.
I am developing an air help application and I want to embedd some pdf files. I tried two different ways yet:
    1. A direct link to the pdf file (which is located in the project folder)
    2. An iframe
In the topic preview both ways are working fine. But when I generate the application, it just shows a black page, where the pdf content should be.
    Thanks for your help.

  • RoboHelp: Air, Server, or ??

I use Robohelp 8 HTML to create a help center for our various call center groups. I am currently using the WebHelp output for a browser-based help tool. The challenge we run into is a lot of feeback that "searching is too hard" and our system is too complex.
I've looked into Air, specifically the locally installed Air help, as this would allow for favorites to be defined by each user and make comments. This may help the user customize our system per their needs and provide feedback. The challenge is that our content changes on a daily basis and it appears as though pushing through updates is not as seemless as browser based help systems.
I'm looking at RoboHelp Server 8, and it appears as though the reporting and "improvement loop" may assist in determining what content is frequently accessed. We've considered creating smaller projects and deploying them to individual groups instead of a company-wide help system.

    mollyid wrote:
...The challenge we run into is a lot of feeback that "searching is too hard"...
Indeed Searching is too hard. I used to have a similar setup and situation with a call center that needed rapid (and simple) access to information on several hundred different products. Indeed, if I only offered Search they would have crucified me.
I stumbled across this amazing technology that allowed them to type just a few letters and instantly locate any information they wanted. And this was eons before AIR or Google or the Magickal RoboHelp Server entered the picture.
I too pushed content out on a daily basis and my users loved my system.
Oh, I guess you might be wondering what I did to make this happen. Yeah, that might be helpful, huh?
I created something known as an Index and populated it with useful terms that made sense to my users. Do an index correctly and teach your users how to use it. I guarantee it will outperform AIR or Google or RoboHelp Server any day of the week.

  • Robohelp AIR search highlights wrong words

    Hi,
I tried generating other layouts (Webhelp Pro, Microsoft Help), but I only saw this behavior with AIRHelp. When searching for a word (for example "Adobe") it highlights the wrong sections in the text. See screenshot:

Ok. So I ran it from my home PC, which has Win XP and had never had any version of Robohelp installed. The AIR would not run at first because
I supposedly did not have the right JRE version to create the certificate. But then I installed the new JRE version and then generated the AIR help file and observed the same problem with the wrong highlighted words after a search.
Now, I am wondering, how did you, Peter, get it to work correctly? Did you also install Robohelp 9 through download from the Adobe web site? Or do you have a different version and how can I get that version? I have a suspicion that the AIR help is based on the Javahelp Java code, because I observed the same problem with JavaHelp, can you perhaps ask about that?
    Thanks,

  • Robohelp Air to exe

Can someone please explain the process of how to convert an air file made by robohelp 8 into exe? I have installed the latest air runtime 2.0.3

    Hi there
I'm not sure it's possible to achieve. AIR is a technology that Adobe created and it relies upon the AIR runtime to be present on the end user's PC in order to install. Or is this what you are asking. How to package the help output so it exists as an exe file that first installs the AIR runtime followed immediately by the RoboHelp produced AIR package.

  • Error 105 on .air export

During the last step of a .air file export from Flex Builder
    3, i get a 105 error: nativeWindow.
    My xml application descriptor has
    <systemChrome>none</systemChrome> and
    <transparent>true</transparent>.
I've tried various combinations and I get the error ONLY when
    systemChrome is set to none.
If I comment the line, or set it to "standard", everything is
ok. But I need no systemChrome for my application.
    What's going on??
    Thanks.

    Oops.
There was a "-->" (comment closing tag) right before the
<systemChrome> and just after the <title> tag.
Thanks for your answer. It helped me to search in the right

Anyway it's strange that with <systemChrome> set to

  • How do I create a new RoboHelp AIR template?

    Hello,
I am using the Adobe Technical Communication Suite 3.5 and am publishing from FrameMaker 10 out to AIR Help via RoboHelp 9.
I would like to use a template of my own creation, versus one of the stock templates provided (e.g. Multipane Accordion).
Can someone direct me on where one would go to make this happen?  I apologize if this is not a RoboHelp 9 specific question, but in a way it is,
since the AIR template gets invoked from within RoboHelp 9.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
    Regards,
    James

    Hi Peter,
Yes, it is the same James who sent you a direct reply.  Well, that is certainly not very helpful to me when creating AIR Help in RH9.
I think I will make a feature request that Adobe allow users to create templates, or at least have MORE control over what goes into the templates, especially around the borders, number of panes and much more.
What I am getting at, is that the Adobe AIR Help could serve as a sort of Interactive Electronic Technical Manual or IETM, which would probably be
a great way to further market the Tech Comm Suite or RoboHelp by itself.
I would have throught that Adobe Flex / Adobe Flash Builder would have allowed you to create a new template.  How was the original sample AIR templates created anyway?  With Flex/Adobe Flash Builder, or by some other product or plain coding?
    What a pity.
    Thanks,
    James
