Role import uses technical system id?

Part of our portal content comes from BW - BEx applications are developed, and placed into a role on the BW side.  We were planning on importing the BW roles as worksets, followed by placing the worksets into a role that will fit into our portal navigation structure.
Once thing that I noticed was that the system alias used to import the BW content uses the technical name of the remote system (XXX100, for example), instead of the system alias assigned to the system object from whence the content comes from.
We were planning on exporting this content from our development portal, and importing it into each of the follow-on systems.  However, since each iView references a system based on the original technical system name, I'm left with these possible solutions:
1. Leave the content as it, and just assign a technical system name as a system alias for the following on environments.  Very ugly, and confusing.
2. Import the content, but manually change each iView to use the correct system alias.  Very time consuming, especially as the amount of content increases.  I could programatically alter the PCD to change the alias, but I would rather not do that since it's an extra step, and would involve some custom coding just to fix remote role imports.
3. Import the roles in each follow on environment - also ugly, since I don't want to alter the content past development.  This would be circumventing our testing strategy, not to mention our change management processes.
Ideally, I would like the content to be imported using the correct system alias (SAP_BW, for example).  Is there a way to do this, or am I just stuck?
How are other people dealing with the importation of BW roles into the portal?

Hi Ken,
Are you sure about this? When you imported your roles from BI did you select the SAP_BW system alias or did you select a system alias XXX100?
Also under your option 2 you can should be able to change the system property for all the iviews in one fell swoop by using the Multiple Property Replacement under Content Administration.
Good luck,
Bert

    Hi,
<i> can i use thchnical system type 'third party' for R3 system. will the scenario work properly or not.</i>
--- No u can't use this...Ur technical system must be "WebAS ABAP" only.  For file system you use 3rd party system. means ur technical system like follows.
    sender
    R/3  -- WebAs ABAP
    Receiver
File  - 3 rd pary system
<i>And some times some of the business systems in SLD are not visible in ID, when assigning business system in ID.can any one tell reason for this.</i>
Click "Clear SLD cache" repeatly for some time in ID, it will come.

  • How PI uses technical system information in SLD

    Hi Experts,
I know there are business system and technical system registered and associated in SLD.
Especially for those SAP systems, in our normal PI scenario, how PI uses the technical information which was registered under Technical System in SLD since we need again configure the host/port and credentials details in the sender/receiver channel in ID.
Or SLD is just one central place for collecting all the technical information together only for life cycle management?
There is nothing more to do with the Tech System (SLD), PI only needs the business system in scenario.
Please knidly share your opnion, thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,

    Hi Aditya,
Let me provide an example to describe the need fot technical systems.
Think of an outbound scenario : SAP ECC/CRM -> PI -> Third Party (ex: SOAP)
Now just think how PI will identify what the sender is (ECC/CRM or 3rd party) if the TS is not registered in SLD? The Business Systems are logical systems whcih points to Technical Systems (application systems that are installed in system landscape). TS hold the information about the actual systems, its host, IP, clients etc.
Now based on the source BS which points to TS, the target binding is done in Receiver Determination pipeline step. Now if there is no TS attached to the BS how can PI identify whether ECC or CRM is sending the data and hence will not be able to identify the relevant target for the source.
Think of Business Systems as sitting on top of Technical Systems, and when the landsape details are not known for third party systems we use Business Component/Business Service.
    Cheers,
    Souvik

  • Import technical system details into SLD

    HI ,
I was looking for the way to import the technical system data for a SAP R/3 system into the SLD .
Is there a automated way of doing this or do we have to key in the details .
    Thanks
    Nikhil

Yes. It will import the all the details. The RZ70 has an option to run a batch job for every 720 minutes ( 12 hrs. you can change this). That means for every run, if there it will update all the components it has. No need of manual work.

  • Technical system

    1) i know how to create a technical system ex: stand alone , so give me a real time example how the tech system , no links , while working real time how the type of technical system was created by name ? , business system - plz

    Hi,
Technical System are used to define physical host on which a system is installed. The exact settings of each tech system depends on the type of System you are installing.
Technical systems are physical one based on u r installed system.it is just like hardware of system.
Business Systems are defined from technical systems or rather Technical Systems are the basis for which a technical system is defined.
Business systems are application systems and it is defined using Technical systems.Business systems are very useful in configuration step.
Technical system represents the phyiscal system, it contains all the physical charateristics of ur system for eg while creating a Technical system for your R3 system - u specify the host name, message server, OS, the clients etc.
An example of an application system is a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) server. In the SLD, there are five types of technical systems:
The Techincal systems are of type
    1. Web AS ABAP --ranging from any SAP system to an APO server or CRM server, are based on the same Basis Component (BC), which includes the ABAP interpreter, ABAP Dictionary, ABAP Workbench, and so on.
    2. Web AS Java --consist of one or more instances and each instance is installed on a separate host.
    3. Standalone Java
    4. Third-Party --contain third-party software components and products.

  • Technical System Types

    Hi Experts,
When I creating the Technical System we are having the options like
    1.Web As ABAP
    2. Web AS Java
    3. Standalone Java
    4. Third Party.
I want to know the difference between Web As Java and Stand Alone Java? Which one is used in which scenario.
Please can u explain the differences.?
    Thanks
    Sridhar

    Hi Sridhar,
          Adding to the above information...
    1) Web As ABAP: Used to when you wan to communicate with any SAP System.
    2) Web As java: Used to communicate any Java System which are under in SAP Netweaver(WAS).
when you want to communicate a EP(Enterprise Portal) you can use Web as JAVA in this case you cannot use standalone java.
    3) Standalonejava:Used to communicate normal any java application.
    4) Thirdparty: using third party even you can communicate any EAI tools also.
Let's say you wan to commnicate with webmethods in such scenario you can use Technical System as Thirdparty.
    Hope I am clear.
Please let me know if you have any queries?

  • Regarding Technical system or Business sytem

    Hello,
What is the difference between Technical system and Business system. What makes the difference between these two. Already we are taking physically located system as Technical system, So instead of using technical system directly in the scenario, why should we go for Business system. Is there any technical information.
    Thank you

    Hi,
    Business system
Business System is a logical rep of a Technical System. Technical system can be a physical machine, it have a IP. Can be a ERP, J2EE etc. A Business System is a logical term that we use into the Business Scenarios and represent these Technical System that we had created
    Technical system
Basically Technical system is a physical system. That means a machine with certain machine mane. While on the other hand a business system is a virtual system which resides on technical system. So there is possibility that there can be more than one business system working on single technical system to make proper utilization of resources. Even though they a on same physical system there is no interference among them.
So instead of using technical system directly in the scenario, why should we go for Business system. Is there any technical information.
A very good question. Suppose if you are using the technical system directly in your scenario if any upgrade happens in the techincal system like if your ERP upgraded from 4.7 to ECC then you need to change every ever where you define your techincal system details. so for that purpose you define business system. If any upgrades happens you can make change only at the begning and then you are pointing it to business system it will take care every thing. Hope you understand

  • Error while importing technical systems in SLD

    Hi all,
I was importing technical systems from one SLD to another by Export-Import.
While importing the content i got an error 92 out of 93 objects successfully imported.

    Hi experts,

while creating Business System we create Logical System. When we are creating for Sap system then there we give client logical sytem name, but while creating for third party systems what is the use of it.....
while creating Technical system and Business system v have 4 radio buttons
    Web As ABAP

what is the use of Standalone when and in which senario we use this Standalone.
    Note:valuable anser will be rewarded.
    Regards,
    Phani

    Hi
    1. Third Party: Can be any Tech System. For example you want to send a xml message from a file adapter residing on your PC. You can define your PC as a 3rd party Tech/Business System.
    2. StandAlone Java: WEBAS640 has got Basis and Java Stacks. If you installed <b>only the standalone java Stack on a server</b>, then you define a standalone java tech system.

  • I want to put windows 7 on my iMac. Do I use Windows 7, 64 bit System Builder or do I use a "retail copy" of the Windows 7, 64 bit ? Microsoft says I should use the System Builder copy. A technical support individual from Apple said use the "retail copy"

A Microsoft technical advisor said that the "retail copy" of Windows 7, 64 bit Home Premium would not work with Boot Camp to put the Windows operating system on the IMac. She said that I would have to use the System Builder copy of Windows 7 to put it on my iMac. An Apple technical advisor told me that I had to use the "retail copy" of Window 7 because that was the one used by Apple when they developed the Boot Camp program.  I have also seen some articles from Apple that suggests that both copies of Windows 7 would work OK. Does anyone have any experience that shows which one or both I should purchase to put on my computer?

    Welcome to ASC!
I used the 64-bit System Builder Edition when I bootcamped my 2010 iMac a couple of years ago. Worked perfectly--installed a very lean system. Without all the extra cr@pware that comes preinstalled on name-brand Win computers, the SBE OS actually works darned well.
However, that was under Mac OS 10.6.8 which remains on that computer for compatibilty reasons not related to Windows. Haven't BCed any newer Mac OS, so your mileage may vary.

  • Integrate GRC 10.1 with CUA and how to import roles from CUA & Child systems into GRC for provisioning

    Hello,
I am trying to integrate CUA into our GRC 10.1 system through the below steps and so far I have completed the below steps following SAP Notes 1680108 and 1616121:
    1. Connected CUABOX to GRCBOX like a plug-in system.
    2. Updated CUA Global System and CUA Model Distribution in Maintain CUA settings under User Provisioning.
    3. Next I am trying to import the roles from CUA(CUABOX) into GRC(GRCBOX) to be able to provision roles in CUA Child Systems(ECCBOX).
After reading few discussions in SCN, I have figured that we have to download a template in Role Import and populate it accordingly to upload the CUA child system roles into GRC system for provisioning in CUA Child Systems.
Unfortunately, this template has multiple fields and I am unable to determine the fields that should be populated as CUA Global System and CUA Child System to import into GRC. Also, when we upload CUA Child System Roles template what selections should be made in Role Import window.
Any help in this regard is very helpful.
    Thank you,
    Pawan

    Hi Alessandro,
I have "Create user if does not exist" setting checked for both change action and assign role action and also have CUA enabled. Here is the list of steps that I am performing:
    1. Create an access request for new account, T-CUA_CHILD and select a role from a child system ECC Z_ECC_ROLE_IN_CHILD_SYSTEM.
    2. Approvals provided to assign the ECC role.
    3. I see the following in GRFNMW_DBGMONITOR_WD.
Auto provisioning activity at end of request at Path GRAC_DEFAULT_PATH and Stage              GRAC_SECURITY
New User:T-CUA_CHILD created in System(s): ECC (created without role assignments)
T-CUA_CHILD User does not exist in target system CUA
GRC created an account without role assignment in ECC but also throwed me an error that the user does not exist in CUA.
However, if I select roles from both CUA and ECC it creates the account in both systems with the selected role assignments.
So I am wondering if there is way to provide CUA access to users by default for new account requests types. I have tried setting up default roles for CUA but it does not assign the roles by default until I select the CUA system.
    Thank you for your help!

  • Use of Business Systems and Technical Systems

    Hi
What is the use of having business systems and technical systems in SAP XI. I don't see any configuration details needed to create these. I understand that it logically divides the interfaces into different business systems but is that the only use? The only place I see the real configuration done is in the adapter configuration.
    Vijay

    Vijay,
The technical system actually works better for our non-SAP systems than the SAP systems. Here is our scenario:
We have an AS400 business system that uses a file adapter to send files to XI and then uploaded to SAP ECC. The file adapter does not ask for the system information so we can switch between dev and test by changing the DNS address in the technical system entry (dynamic reference like a property file lookup). The communication channel settings do not have to change.
The receiver is SAP using an RFC adapter which requires the system ID, and client (hard coded).  Everytime we change clients, we have to change the settings in the RFC adapter. This is more to your point of why do we have a technical system if we have to provide the settings in the adapter as well. The RFC adapter should read the application server and client values from it's parent business system so the changes don't have to be made everytime we point to a new client( such as QA). This is irritating.
So maybe the theory is good but the implementation could be better in this case.
    Thanks,
    Troy
