Role of XI in interface!

Hello all,
we have a requirement to retrieve forecast data from a third party system (manugistics) and update a ztable in SAP R/3 system. For this we are supposed to XI and I am confused what role does XI play in this simple interface?

XI has the ability to call any RFC/IDOCs and in your case, you would have to write a BAPI/RFC to insert the data in the ZTable. In XI you define your structures and map the fields and during runtime XI calls the RFC and passes the data to R/3. Normally an ABAPer role would mostly on the R/3 side creating the RFC, if any are needed. The main selling point for XI is a single shop for various integration needs of an organization.

- how significant is the SSO interface version (like v1.1, or v1.2) in the portal functioning.
- what relevance does it have with the WWSEC_ENABLER_CONFIG_INFO table entries? i know it can be seen in that table too. but what does it do for these entries.
- if the SSO interface version is not correct, does it change the site2pstoretoken value? i suppose it precedes this token value sometimes. does it not show this toeken value altogether?
- what errors one should expect if the SSO interface version is not correct for a certain portal?

What about simply use function module BBP_USER_GET_DETAIL with importing parameter USERNAME = SY-UNAME ?
You will get all user's roles in table ACTIVITYGROUPS.

Role of multiple network interfaces

Hi,
I'm trying to setup a Mac Mini Server to act as a gateway and to offer various services from inside and outside of my office. For me this is some kind of test setup before I may look into getting a bigger machine for this job.
Because a gateway needs two ethernet interfaces I got an Apple USB-Ethernet adapter which technically works without problems. However since the USB-Ethernet is slower than the internal ethernet interface of the Mac Mini I want to connect the USB interface to the internet (fixed IP, DNS forward set, reverse in work) and the faster internal interface to my internal network.
The server is set up to make NAT but DHCP is done by another server. So the internal address is also manually set. Also there is an internal DNS Server I've setup the server to use it's own DNS service.
It took me some time to figure out how to make the USB interface (en2) the primary interface by turning off the internal interface (en0) during installation and adding it at a later time. So when I'm now doing a changeip -checkhostname I can see that my external address is my primary interface and my public hostname is correct.
However my biggest problem at the moment is that it seems as if all services are bound to the internal interface/network (en0) and I'm not able to access services like VPN, iChat or web from the internet or by using the public hostname.
Do I have to somehow tell all these services to explicitly bind to the external interface/address? Or is there no other way than to use en0 as the external interface in my configuration?

Please search for existing discussions of establishing static IP routes; this stuff can and does work, but requires manual set-up. IP selects a primary NIC in the absence of a known route regardless of the NIC the message arrived on, which means the Mac box doesn't work like you'd expect without some help. [Here's one discussion|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5697532], and there are others.
Mac boxes don't make particularly easy nor effective nor efficient nor economical firewalls in my experience, and this is inherent in the design differences between a Mac and a dedicated firewall. External firewalls are an added expense for a small network, but (in my experience) tend to have advantages over using a Mac box doubling as a firewall.
Given the number of folks that try this particular configuration, it would be useful for Apple to provide some guidance and some tools here to set up the static routes and to operate the Mac as a router (in some future release of Mac OS X Server after Snow Leopard Server 10.6); you're going to be using the bash shell to get this stuff going.

Partner functions are terms that describe the people and organizations with whom you do business, and who are therefore involved in transactions. For example, when you create an activity, based on Customizing settings, it automatically includes the partner functions Activity Partner, Contact Person, and Person Responsible. Partner functions are always assigned to partner function categories, which are hard-coded in the system.
The system includes commonly used partner functions, but you can also define your own.
Business role
The business role is a role describing the user interface of SAP CRM and displays the CRM functions in the form of BSP applications in the CRM Web Client. The business role is assigned to the end-user.
Business Role is a crucial aspect in configuring the Web UI as required by an individual or a group of Users.
For Ex: In general an individual who works within Sales as an agent would be able to login as a Sales Professional and a manager of the same team would login with the business role Sales Manager.
This is beneficial as the sales manager would be able to view the entire performance of the team, sales reports and will have access to all opportunities which he can assign to individual agents etc. whereas a Sales agent will be able to view only opportunities assigned to him, his individual sales targets etc.
All this can be achieved within SAP CRM 7.0 Web UI by configuring the Business Role.

Requesting to remove roles for the direct report's in OIM 11g R2

Is it possible to have the manager log into OIM and request to remove roles for one of his/her direct reports? You can only add roles from the catalog interface.

9.3.1 Migration Utility gives "Project does not exists" error in log

In preparation for using Hyperion Reporting and Analysis 9.3.1, I have installed the following on a Linux test server:

Everything is up and running and I created a new user account in Shared Services to administer the system, and attempted to give it full access by provisioning it with all the available roles. I received an error message stating
"+OracleJSP: An error occurred. Consult your application/system administrator for support. Programmers should consider setting the init-param debug_mode to "true" to see the complete exception message.+"
I'm investigating that now, but the roles seemed to be assigned to the user anyway.
When attempting to migrate from HPSu 8.5.2 to Reporting and Analysis 9.3.1 using the 9.3.1 Linux x86 Migration Utility (V11333-01 from edelivery.oracle.com), I get the following error message in a test migration:

We've only one user-defined role in the source system that I don't think is giving us this issue, it is inactivated and "User Roles" was not one of the selected objects to migrate.
I would like to try taking the role completely out of the source system if possible, preferably through SQL applied to the V8 tables or through the SDK.
The error looks like it lies in the migration task following the user role provisioning, doAssignDefaultGroup* and is caused by getProjectNameByID*
The steps I have taken (for sanity sake) so far are:
--I've removed all associations with this user defined role in the source system (users, groups, and roles) using the administrative interface on the web.
--I've unchecked 'User Defined Roles' on the list objects to migrate from the source to target systems in the Migration Utility, but I still get the error.
It looks like it is trying to provision a user defined role in the target system, but it is not finding a default project by the id in the error message.
Are there any Shared Services steps in the target system that need to be taken besides creating a manager type user to use as a log in for the Migration Tool?

I turned on the jsp debug init-param for the system for more information about the error. I get the following:

Missing incidents

Hello community!
What can be wrong if an incident created in Work center is visible only to incident owner, even solman_admin cannot see it. Is it smth wrong with Business partners, what would be the best bet - from where to start the investigation?
We've not implemented Solman yet, just playing all around it. Previously all incidents were visible to Message processor team, created in Organizational Model, so obviously smth went wrong during configuration phase.
I mean, as solman_admin I can see it if I execute search on SAP GUI level, but if I work in SM_workcenter, then I do not see it, so it's nor forwarded or smth like this

SM_CRM has two business roles
solmanrequ --- this simpler interface for end user to post incident and track the status etc
solmanpro - this is advance interface for processor etc
BUT
like you mentioned non interested in that ..no issues.....
in your case...goto solman_workcenter or sm_workcenter for searching incidents
now choose solution independent reporting
in the below selection screen ..provide the bp no. for looking how many tickets belonging to this user
this way you can identify tickets for particular BP...i hope now you got the way to move forward.

SQL Azure: More Intermittent Timeouts

Hi guys,
We have a set of 5 online auction systems running on Windows Azure & SQL Azure. Each system consists of a single web worker and one or more web roles. Each system is using ASP.NET MVC 3 and Entity Framework, Repository Pattern and StructureMap.
The worker role is responsible for housekeeping and runs two groups of processes. One group is run every ten seconds, the other every second. Each process will likely run a database query or stored procedure. These are scheduled with Quartz.net
The web role serves the public interface and back office. Among other basic crud functionality, both of these provide screens which, when open, will repeatedly call controller methods which will result in execution of stored procedure read-only queries.
The frequency of repetition is about 2-3 seconds per client. A typical use case would be 5 back office windows open, and 25 end user windows open – all hitting the system repeatedly.
For a long time we have been experiencing intermittent SQL timeout errors. Three of the most common ones are:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.)
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The semaphore timeout period has expired.)
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.
The only predictable scenario is during an auction where a specific controller -> sproc starts to timeout during the event (presumably due to load). All other times the errors appear to be completely random and come in singles, two’s, and three’s etc.
even during periods of user inactivity. For example the system will go 18 hours without an error and then could be 5 – 10 errors from different housekeeping methods, or perhaps a user logged on and viewed their account.
Other info:
I have tried to run the affected queries/sprocs on SQL Azure using both local SSMS and Azure web-based query tool – all seem to execute quickly, 1 second max. Query plans not showing anything too suspicious although I am by no means a SQL query performance
expert, or any other kind of expert for that matter

We are not storing any session information in the database, although asp.net membership information is stored in the database.
We use 1 “SQL Azure server instance” which hosts all 5 databases, two for staging and three for production. All 5 systems are generally active at the same time although it is unlikely that more than one will be in a state of live load use at any given time.
All web roles, worker roles and the SQL Azure server reside in the same Azure Geographical Region.
Any thoughts on where we should be looking? Would it help giving each system it's own SQL Azure server? ... Failing a solution by ourselves - is it possible to get Microsoft to open a support ticket and take a look under the hood at what’s going on in with
our application – how does one go about this?

New website/database (has only been in production for a week or so). The model we have is pretty simple Azure website MVC EF 6.1.1 using a single database in same region as website. I have monitored for and have never found any throttled connections or deadlocks.
What I have tried so far
I bumped the timeout in the connection string to 60 seconds
I changed the web site to Basic and configured the auto scale to max instance size and count
That seemed to help - but then just recently during points of high volume usage (client requests, data in and out, CPU time) I started seeing this error. As I narrow the focus to look at metrics during the exact time of the error it doesn't reflect
the exact peak. For example peak usage may be at 3:45, but the errors occur at 4:30 when the usage is less than 3:45 by a fair amount.
To try to force recreate and see if it was caused by transaction data table locks I ran a query in a transaction block with a WAITFOR delay and then went to the web site and tried to access data that would be locked by that query. That test did generate
an error - but not this specific "semaphore timeout period has expired" - so I don't think it is caused by table locks.
I did notice that when the error happens - it generally happens to one user and then happens multiple times to that one user over the course of what can be a minute or so and in different queries (views). The last analysis showed that pattern for
one user with 2 other users getting the error but just once (and in different views/queries).
USER A - got about 9 of these errors in about 8 different views over the course of a little more than a minute (20:26 to 21:35)
USER B - got 1 (in the same timespan)
USER C - got 1 (in the same time span)
Analysis of the error logs showed it isn't unique to any single view/query or scenario wrt queries. The only clue that makes it less of an intermittent situation is does correspond with usage. However, it doesn't have to be specifically peak usage at the
exact moment - but in a window (within an hour), It makes me wonder if it is the load or just the fact that more usage just increases the odds (I will monitor this relation some more and note the exact metrics).
I am now bumping the timeout in the connection string to 90 seconds and I have changed the database DTU setting to 50

Assigning DHCP IP address by SSID

Hello,
I want to assign IP addreses by SSID on the 861W. I have two Vlans on the router on two different subnets, and one DHCP pool for each subnet. On the AP I have two SSIDs on each of the Vlans.
However, when I associate with the different SSIDs, I get an ip address from the same DHCP pool, instead of different pools. I want ip from different subnets with different SSIDs.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestion. However, when I implement these commands clients on SSID Voices (Vlan2) cannot connect to the DHCP server on the router.

Enhanced receiver determination

why we assign the abstract message interface ReceiverDetermination as the target interface.can we achieve enhanced receiver determination without this abstract interface.I have gone through sap help and some blocks of sdn also but still its not clear to me that whats the role of this abstract interface.

The abstract interface work both inbound and outbound interface(Bi directional).
BPM can process messages only through "abstract interfaces" al though Receive and Send steps can have interfaces other then "abstract interfaces" all other intermediat steps of BPM needs "abstract interfaces"

Enabling 802.11n on the 861-w ISR

Hello,
I'm attempting to configure 11n on the 861W router integrated access point. I've configured
speed basic-1.0 2.0 5.5 11.0 6.0 9.0 12.0 18.0 24.0 36.0 48.0 54.0 m0. m1. m2. m3. m4. m8. m9. m10. m11. m12. m13. m14. m15.
But still can't connect faster than 54Mb. Are there any comprehensive instructions for how this works?

What I was trying to say was my test client only had one antenna, since it's an old Dell 8200 with an newer "n" card in it. But I was able to rig two more antennas (antenni?). I was also able to set "channel width 40-above" on the 861-W. Now, on the client utility I get receive rates poping up to 300 Mbps and transmit rates in the 108 to 168 range.
According to Table 2 on this page:

that signifies a guard interval of 800ns on transmit, but 400ns on receive.
Is there a command to explicitly set the guard interval?
RRodichev, I am also wondering what leads you to believe that the 861-W is 2.4 GHz only? I don't see anything in the data sheet about frequency bands.

My question might sound funny!!!,but I need an answer

I'am new to java,I would like to know that java doesn't support multiple inheritance,and instead it has a feature of interfaces....which again has methods which don't have thier implementation and constant variables.
Then when I implement this interface in my classes,I have to implement all the methods of the interface.
What is the role played by the interface here...how it replaces the place of multiple inheritance.

First detremine what you need a class to do.
Define an interface which defines the methods which need to be accessable to other packages.
Create a class which implements those methods. It may also have other methods but these are for 'internal' use.
Interfaces help you to define a contract that other packages can use.
In my case, I have mutliple implementation of the same interface which I can change at will (at run time in fact) without change the calling code because the caller only uses refers to the interface.
Interfaces are much more useful which you are writing non-trival sized programs, especially if you are sharing code with other developers.

Personalization of Roadmap steps in Roadmap UI element

Hi All,
I want to know of if it is possible to hide/unhide the Raodmap steps in the Roadmap UI element at runtime. When I do ctrl + right click, the entire roadmap is hidden.

for personalizing i hope this would help u better :
Changing the position and visibility of UI elements for example, for fields and tables.
· Adding or changing additional interface information for example changing the button text or adding quick infos.
· Role-specific changing of interface labels.
· UI element roadmap: Removing individual, unneeded process steps.
· Statically changing individual field attributes.
· Changing the alignment of individual UI elements for example, line starting point, align right, centered alignment.
· Wider selection of fonts and colors for the interface layout
