Rotation of labels, points

What's the best way to store the rotation of labels in spatial ?
How can GIS like Geomedia or ArcView use this rotation ?
Thank you for answer
Toni

Hi
Geomedia uses a concept called an "oriented point". Geomedia uses the Spatial linestring code (d001) but defines the first point as user defined (6000) so Oracle ignores this point. The set of ellements for this user defined point then contain the diagonal of the rotation matrix for that point (ie: its orientation). The second point of the linestring has the actual point values. Therefore all apps that use native oracle spatial reads should still be able to access this data as the first point/orientation is ignored.
Hope that helps

  • How to have rotated axis labels in charts without embedding fonts?

    Hi all,
         I am trying to have slant/rotated axis labels in flex charts to avoid clutter in cases of large number of sample points. It was fairly easy to do this using 'labelRotation' method in AxisRenderer but this involved embedding fonts [ causes my swf to increase in size by atleast a 100KB which in my case is very high ]. My question is.. Can this be done without embedding the fonts? Maybe with the use of labelRenderer? Any alternatives that would solve the purpose without increase in swf size are also most appreciated as I ve been struggling with this for quiet a while.
    Thanks a ton,
    Siva

    Please check LabVIEW\Examples\picture\demos.llb\polar plot demo.vi
    But it has no zooming and cursors.
    Maybe you can modify that example and use XY plot instead of picture control. I mean for each function plot on the picture, you generate another function to replace it and generate XY data pairs.

  • How can you rotate the labels on the category axis of a graph in Illustrator and have it stay the same when updating the graph data?

    I am needing to create a line graph with dates consisting of MM/DD/YY along the category axis. I would like to rotate the labels 45 degrees and have them stay when I update the graph. I have read about manually doing it, I even made an action to make it faster, but it still seems inefficient. Is there a setting that I could use to automatically create my labels as rotated? Thanks.

    Hi Gravy Train,
    I'm curious about why you are using 2 loops.   You mentioned one is for monitoring and one is for DAQ....what do you mean by that?   What is the overall goal of this piece of code.   Also, I noticed that you are not closing the task.   Since this is just a subset, I realize you could be closing it in your actual code, but just in case you're not.....it is very important that you close all tasks when you are down acquiring data.

  • Rotation of label using smartforms by 90 deg using zebra printer

    Hi,
    I am facing one problem using smartforms for label printing. Since the zebra printer which is being used requires 90 deg rotation of form for the normal smartform design. I have even tried using ZPL commands by using ^FWR  command in the window attributes but the text within that window only gets rotated and each line gets overwritten on one another. Please let me know if it s possible to rotate the complete form in smartform for label printing using zebra printer.
    Thanks and Regards

    Hi Anand,

  • On Pie chart rotation - the labels disappear

    I am using followig to rotate a pie chart:
    <mx:Rotate id="rotate" angleFrom="{angle-90}"
    angleTo="{angle}"
    target="{myChart}"/>
    private function rotateImage():void {
    rotate.end();
    angle += 90;
    rotate.play();
    <mx:PieChart id="myChart" dragEnabled="true"
    dragComplete="rotateImage()">
    So, when a user tries to drag the pie chart, the chart
    rotates. The
    chart rotates fine but the labels disappear? why would this
    happen and
    any solution to this.
    Also, I would like to use some other event for rotation
    instead of
    dragComplet. I would like to do it when user clicks left
    mouse
    button+moves the mouse (both on the outside of the chart)
    Any suggetions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Are your fonts embedded? Rotating non-embedded fonts makes
    text disappear during rotation.

  • Labeling points on XY graph with numbers. Trying to use cursor names.

    I have found some example vis in the NI Developers Zone that label the points using Cursor Name attribute. I have some success, but results are not consistent. I need up to 100 labels...is there a limit to the number of cursors? Is there a way to initialize 100 cursors without using Cursor Legend? Sometimes the cursors do not appear or do not move...they don't seem to be consistent. Any other ideas to solve this problem? Would it be possible to show the number of the point when the cursor is moved to that point. I am using LabView 6.0. windows 2000.
    Thanks.

    If you want to do things programmatically, like set the cursor text to
    match the X or Y value of the point, read the value, format the string
    and write it to the name of the cursor.
    If you want to init 100 cursors interactively, you can popup on the edge
    of the cursor legend and show the index. The cursor legend is simply an
    array of clusters of cursor info. Set the index to 99 and type in a
    name, value or something else. This will allocate 100 cursors. I'm not
    sure if that is what you meant.

  • Basic 3d, how do I change rotation axis (anchor) point?

    I have a photo in front of me. Now I'd like it to fall toward me, but when I spin the X axis, of course, the focal/center/axis point is the center of the photo. If it was falling toward you as if standing up on a table, the bottom of the photo would be the rotating point. I don't see a way to change this anchor point in the basic 3d filter - can it be done?
    Thanks!

    The easiest way I found to do this is the following:
    Make the layer you want to rotate in 3D (the photo, in this case) a child/sublayer of a new, empty layer.
    Apply the Basic 3D effect to this new, parent layer.
    Select the photo sublayer and drag it until it's relative position regarding the axis sytstem/anchor point is the one you want. After that, when you animate the Basic 3D filter in the parent layer, the photo will behave as if the axis system was offset to the location you wanted.

  • Illustrator CS5 Rotate Tool Anchor Point Bug

    Summary:
    I can reproduce this bug consistently, every single time.  I am unable to set a new anchor point for the rotate tool in Illustrator CS5.
    Steps to reproduce the bug:
    1.  Create a new shape, doesn't matter what
    2.  Press R or just select the rotate tool
    3.  Alt-Click to pick up the anchor point and drag to a new posiiton
    4.  Let the mouse go- at this point the anchor stays locked to the cursor even if I click and am only able to unlock it from the cursor if I click on a new tool, but without getting to choose a new anchor point.
    Also I tried this with a Intuos 2 tablet and pen with the same results.  I have an NVidia Quadro FX 3500 card installed with the latest driver as well.
    I'm not sure if this issue is related, but also in After Effects CS5 if I press 0 to start doing a preview and then click away say on Firefox, then click back to After Effects, I am unable to click around inside After Effects to get the render to stop.  It makes me wait until the whole comp is pushed into a ram preview before it unlocks itself.
    Any ideas?

    I too experience this problem and was hoping to find a solution.  I've tried reverting to early Wacom Driver versions with no success. I find that if you "break the connection" between the pen and the tablet then the rotate point will drop and the rotate dialog will appear.  I've found that this only works reliably when lifting the pen straight up off of the tablet til it loses signal. Not ideal for precision work.  You'll notice that the rotate point drops when you move over to the menus, so I'm guessing it has something to do with the "drawing area."

  • 90u00B0 grad rotation of label (Smartform)

    Hallo Friends,
    Problem:
    In the smartform that I am working has Portrait format. But I want to print out using a Zebra printer in Landscape format (W=16cm; L=20cm) I mean just turn the print out 90 degree.
    What I did:
    So, I choose the checkbox LANDSCAPE format (DINA4) in the smartform. The printer still prints in Portrait
    I then created a new Paper Format (W=16cm; L=20cm). On printing I get the error message: Zebra does not suppot paper format.
    OSS tip:
    After searching in OSS I got the hinweis 750772 which I implemented.
    Problem:
    After impletation of the OSS:- 750772 the labek printing was rotated 90° but output was totaly mogged up.
    can someone help please.

    Hello KPN,
    Yes, I know about the sap-notes and have tried the tips too. However, the printout is all mugged up on the same line. This my problem. I will try with new-line command and see if the lines print would be seperated line for line.
    Do you have an example for me, with screen shots etc?
    However, thanks. I have given points

  • Indesign CS5 Rotate Tool Anchor Point Bug

    When rotating any object using either the rotate tool or 'Rotate 90 Clockwise/Anti Clockwise' the Anchor point defaults to the top left hand corner of the object frame. I would expect the Default Anchor point to be the center of any object that is placed on the work area.
    Each time I want to rotate an object I have to move the ancor point to the centre of the object.
    Is this a known issue?
    Using CS5 with most recent updates on Intel Mac but also noticed same error on Win based systems in our office.
    Thanks
    Nathaniel

    Ahh, I forgot to check that! Yes it has worked, although it's a little strange to be defaulted to top left point on all of our machines!
    Thank you

  • Rotate Tab Labels of Tab Control

    Is there a way to rotate the tabs of a Tab Control?
    I want the Tab Location to be Left, but I also want the text of the tabs to be horizontal.

    I don't think there is a simple way to make the label string horizontal while the tab has been moved to the side of the control. However you can replace the text label with a picture label (advanced -> tab layout -> import image from clipboard). May be that could be used to obtain something satisfying ?

  • Rotating text label with complex fonts (arabic)

    i got the next problem:
    rotating dynamically created TextField with any angle (using
    embedded fonts of course). if i use standard fonts, latin sybmols -
    everything works excellent. but if i use arabic fonts - text labels
    behave very strange - complex arabic symbols are not shown.
    for example, 2 symbols "lj" give 1 complex arabian symbol to
    show. but when using in rotating mode with embedded fonts those
    "lj" are just shown separately, not as one.
    did anyone have such experience? how this could be solved?
    maybe the same behavior with japan?
    thanks in advance
    p.s. i used different modes and arabic fonts. everything
    works fine in usual way until the text label starts being
    rotated...

    The only idea possible is to omit one of those
    characteristics: either
    the text field must not be rotated, or it must not use a
    system font.

  • Rotate xAxis labels on a Barchart

    Does anybody know how to rotate all the labels that apper under the xAxis line on a Barchart graphic?
    I search in forum javafx2.0 and the apidocumentation and nothing.
    I have a lot of values on xAxis (64) and when all they are represented on default mode the visual effect is horrible. Thanks.
    Here are my simple code:
    final CategoryAxis xAxis = new CategoryAxis();
    final NumberAxis yAxis = new NumberAxis();
    yAxis.setTickLabelFormatter(new NumberAxis.DefaultFormatter(yAxis," gr ",null));
    final BarChart<String,Number> bc = new BarChart<String,Number>(xAxis,yAxis);
    bc.setTitle("Nutrients");
    xAxis.setLabel("nutrients");
    XYChart.Series<String,Number> series = new XYChart.Series<String,Number>();
    series1.setName("Nutrients");
    // Here are the classes that store the information that will be represented
    Dia d = menu.getDia(dia);
    AvaluacioDia a = d.getAvaluacio();
    // these for iterates 64 times and the data is unreadable. I need to rotate the nutName value.
    for (ItemAvaluacio item : a.getAvaluacioNutrients().values()){
    int idNut = item.getIdNut();
    String nutName = AvaluacioDia.nutrients.get(idNut).getName();
    Double total = item.getTotalAmount();
    series.getData().add(new XYChart.Data<String,Number>(nutName, total));
    bc.getData().add(series);

    Have you tried the Axis.setTickLabelRotation() [http://download.oracle.com/javafx/2.0/api/javafx/scene/chart/Axis.html#setTickLabelRotation(double)] method?
    I must admit that I was looking for a setXXXAngle() method and I really do not know why they named it setXXXRotation() instead.
    You may want to submit an RFE on the Jira to ask for the Axis to skip some labels when there is too much visual cluttering as well.
    Additionally I've found that ticks are badly aligned to the data bars on CategoryAxis on past beta ; When I have a bit more time, I should check on b34 and issue an RFE on my own about that.

  • Labels pointing to pie slices with lines (or how 2 set chart properties in code behind)

    I want to be able to create lines outside of my pie chart with labels and have those lines drawn to connect to the pie chart.  I saw that this can be done in code behind in the following thread:
    MSDN thread on lines to pie slices
    But my problem is I never declared an instance of my chart when I am using my code behind.  My code that makes the reports visible is basically (but not completely) the following:
    ReportDataSet.Tables.Add(ReportDataTable)
    ReportViewer.Visible = True
    Dim ReportDataSource As ReportDataSource = New ReportDataSource("ReportDataSource", ReportDataSet.Tables(0))
    ReportViewer.LocalReport.ReportPath = ReportToDisplay.RDLCFileName
    ReportViewer.LocalReport.DataSources.Clear()
    ReportViewer.LocalReport.DataSources.Add(ReportDataSource)
    ReportDataSource.Name = ReportToDisplay.DataSetName
    ReportViewer.DataBind()
    ReportViewer.LocalReport.Refresh()
    ReportViewer.ShowReportBody = True
    ReportViewer.Width = RVWidth
    ReportViewer.Height = RVHeight
    So how do I set chart properties for my report given the above code?  As long as I can set my chart properties with the above code, I should be able to get this to work given the above thread and the link to the Label-Outside-of-Pie and Line-Color properties
    (or whatever) info on Microsoft's info page

    Hello,
    Based on your description, you want to design a
    pie chart with outside lables and pie line inside a .rdlc report. If so, you can add the Chart report item into the report after open a client report definition (.rdlc) file in graphical design mode. And then Set the
    PieLabelStyle property and PieLineColor property. Please refer to the following screen shot:
    The link your post above it about the
    Chart Web server control. As pre my undersntand, you cannot reference a Web server control inside .rdlc file.
    If you have any question about using Chart Web server control, you can post a question on
    Chart Controls for .NET Framework forum.

  • Need to find out how to lock a point in a path that will not allow the rest of the path to rotate or move around it

    Hello,
    I am having some trouble with using shape layers and paths to create a solid, flat 'hair' effect in a cartoon animation.
    I have used a semicircle shape layer as the hair on the head itself and then a path with a stroke of the same width as the semi circle to be the long part of the hair.
    Unfortunately when I move/rotate the bottom point in the path it causes gaps to appear further up where the stroke is rotating around the point at which the stroke is supposed to "connect" to the semi circle.
    I have included a couple of screenshots of me rotating the hair opposite ways so you can see.
    - imgur: the simple image sharer
    - imgur: the simple image sharer
    I need to find out if there is a way to lock the top point in place where it joins the semi circle blond hair which will stop this part from moving at all, even rotating around the point.
    But the bottom needs to move freely and obviously the part between the two points will move fairly naturally.
    If you can imagine how a girl with long hair has her hair attached to her head, it does not move at all, but the bottom moves freely. It needs to be like this.
    If you can provide any assistance it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    That is perfect thank you so much!
