RotoBrush Tool (Applications & Techniques) ~ HELP WANTED ~

I have recently been attempting to use the rotobrush tool to apply a background in some video footage. I am having trouble making the effect last over time. I want the effect that I map out to apply throughout the composition and it seems to just be applied to the one frame. I have tried extending all the paths to the end of the comp but to no avail. If someone could just provide me a brief outline of how to do this successfully it would be helpful. I am attempting to replace a white background and keep the person speaking at the forefront of the footage. I have been successful in using the tool and mapping out what I want to save vs. what I'd like to replace it's just making what I map out last the entire comp that's giving me a hang-up. Any help is appreciated. These forums have really helped me learn the program and I intend to interact on an educational level as well when my knowledge base is more advanced! Thanks!

Very well put. I came up with a fix that looked pretty good. My original footage was of a speaker in front of a white board. I added a spotlight extraction that focused on the speaker and it worked just fine. It was a nice touch. There was a lightswitch on the wall that I wanted to get rid of so I simply put the guy's logo in the corner, covered the switch, and put a nice pulsing glow and haze around the logo. The rotobrush tool is tedious and required an immense amount of time for a 7 min. video. Thanks for all your help. I'll experiment more with rotobrush down the line when I have nothing but time on my hands (or if I'm getting paid)!

I'll go further than that. I'd say that these days, any time you have any kind of client/server application, the first question you should ask is, is there any pressing reason why we can't just use a web server for the server do all communication over HTTP using a textual serialization mechanism like XML and preferably using REST?
The documentation and infrastructure for this stuff is so extensive these days, and the potential for repurposing is so great, that going any other way without a good reason is a waste of effort. Even if HTTP/REST/XML isn't an exact fit, it can still be worth it (at least for prototyping) just for the convenience.

Can't use the rotobrush tool because of an error message

Hi!
I have after effects cs6 updated (I just did the update today)
I tried to use for the first time of my life the rotobrush tool. Everytime I try, it's not working because an error message appears:
"After effects warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands."
I read a lot on the internet and they said to update windows, after effects, video card drivers, which I have already did before this problem. I also have tried to disable OpenGL to see if the problem really is this file, but I searched for hours on the preferences and I don't find where I can disable it. Everything works perfectly, just the rotobrush tool has a problem (I don't know if there's another effect that has a problem because I didn't use all the millions of effects).
I think I need to disable it, but it'd be very sad because it really accelerates my work. Can you tell me how to repair this problem by not disabling OpenGL?

This is what I'm searching: I don't know how to turn it off. I searched all the preferences and I don't find an option "turn openGL off", so I don't know where it is. After doing that, I'll be able to find out if this is really the problem. I have made many tests, and it looks like this error comes when I do a very big job (example: importing a 1 Gb video and tracking it). I don't understand why, as my computer is windows 7 64 bit SP1, 6 Go of RAM, 1 To of hard drive, and external hard drive of 1 To, 4 cores in the processor (2.8 GHz I think) with an ATI 5570 1 Go graphic card and a creative x-fi sound blaster audio card. I have also boosted it with game booster to see if it's because my computer crashes, but the problem continues even with game booster. Every now and then, I clean and defrag my computer, and I have recently formatted it, so it is new. I don't understand why after effects crashes when this error comes, as my computer is not incredible, but still has power. I really want to disable openGL to see if this is the cause of all my problems. Please tell me step by step how to disable it, because I don't know where it is in the preferences (as I said before, I have after effects cs6)
I don't know if this can help you, but I had cs5.5 before and everything was perfect.

This is an amazing motion control challnge that I'm putting forward to u guys. I am currently using NI PCI7344 motion controller for 3 axis + spindle motion control system. Before this I have used Fanuc and Fagor CNC controllers which understand G-codes and M-codes. Now, in my application, I want to do simple two axis circular interpolation to draw an arc. LabVIEW provides a VI for drawing an arc. We need to provide the "Start angle", "Travel angle" and "Radius" for drawing an arc using that VI. I'm trying to develop a VI, where I feed the "target position", "radius" and "Clock Wise/Anticlock Wise" to draw an arc. The fanuc and fagor controllers provide this facility. Lets see how NI can compete with them. My application involves parsing and transalation of G-codes and M-codes. If this is done, then using my application, a user can feed the same G-codes and M-codes that are understood by Fanuc and Fagor CNC controllers. This will help eliminate CNC and make people buy PC Based controllers. In this way engineers all over the world, who are conversant with G-codes and M-codes can easily shift towards PC Based control which is much easy to use and upgrade. Hence its a challenge for all motion control guys in the industry to try implement this one and provide me with a VI.

I realize that this thread is a little old.
The best place to start with when doing a migration for Oracle Forms/Reports is the Oracle Upgrade Center: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/upgrade/index.html. This has a lot of information that will help you with the various challenges you might face with your migration, and will familiarize you with webutil and other aspects of the migration that you would need.
I recently migrated a very large application from 6i to 10g and found an Oracle White paper that deals with the changes in 10g as compared to 6i and lists the changes that need to be made very useful. This can be found at: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25016_02/doc/dl/web/B15572_01/B15572_01.pdf. Also, since we had a large application to migrate we looked at a few automated tools for our migration and used one called Pitss (www.pitssamerica.com) which greatly reduced the amount of manual changes we had to make and saved us from making tedious and error prone changes.

OK, I've got Squeezeserver running now. For anyone interested, most files are automatically installed under /opt/share/squeezecenter, which seems fine. I had to move the files/directories that Optware installed under /home/slimserver to /opt/share/slimserver and edit /opt/etc/squeezecenter.conf to change the references from /home/slimserver to /opt/share/slimserver.
That allowed Squeezecenter to be started and retained all the runtime files across the NAS restart.
Then I had problems getting it to autostart after the NAS boots. I tried the example under the Cisco tech note about 'add your own entries to crontab', to create an autorun.sh script to issue the start command, but could not get it to work.
Then I found this link http://wiki.qnap.com/wiki/Install_Optware_IPKG and pretty much followed the instructions in the 'Running /opt/etc/init.d/* on startup' section. I'm no Linux expert, but I managed to get it working, without necessarily fully understanding it!
So finally Squeezecenter is running and autostarts - but hopefully Cisco will release an official add on in the near future.

Get message "Choose Cinema Tools application"

I tried for the first time to use cinema tools in my Final Cut Pro 7.0.3, but i dident find the application. My application folder in finder its totaly empty. I see some cinematools.fcpres files with NTSC and PAL in the Final Cut folder but its not some install files. Can i in somehow download just cinemma tools and get it in to my Final Cut program or how should il do? I have a work in progress and i need this application to get it done. So when i mark an clip an choose open in cinema tools i get the message "Choose cinema tools application".
Please help me!

Your description of the problem is not quite clear so I made certain assumptions. I hope I am rigtht. I believe you have a color patch such as this:
that you would like to place in an image area that has modeling in its white background. You do not want to lay in a flat color but rather to add a color and not lose the modeling or other background tone. The problem is, after making the selection, if you use Edit > Fill and set the Blending mode to Color, the white background remains white. The only colored background area may be an object's shadow or some similar area that is not pure white. (Image 2) It is an unsatisfactory result.
If that is an accurate description of the problem, consider this:
Image 1: The original image
Image 2: Edit > Fill with the Blending mode set to Color. White remains white
Image 3: Mode changed to Lab Color. Edit > Fill with the Blending Mode set to Color. Then return to RGB.
(I would not normally use this green as a replacement color but since it is a Tiffany clock, I chose a light version of Tiffany's trademark color.)

Transport Request and Cross-Application techniques

I want to know what is the difference between the transporting request and Cross-Application Technique( eg ALE)
Generally suppose you have made some object in development server and then a transport request will be created and through transporting to the production server same data can be transported to production server.
Same thing we do with ALE also that we can transport the data from one server to another server or from one client to another client.
THen what will be the difference between the transport objects and Cross-Application techniques.
Clear this picture by giving your valuable answers.

Hi Manish,
The applications transferred through Transport Requests and the data passed through ALE or EDI are completely different technologies.
The Transport requests transfer the programs and the configurations that you do within the development Server or rather the SAP system to the Production Server and then you execute them to get the desired result.
On the other hand,ALE(Application Linking and Enabling) or EDI(Electronic Data Transfer) transfers the data or rather business documents(for example vendor payments or making the payme nt through cheques) from one system to another system,i.e different Landscapes.
If suppose you want to transfer the data from one SAP system to another SAP system which are in completely different landscapes,then you use ALE and in case you transfer it from one SAP system to another Non-SAP system or vice-versa,you use EDI.
Moreover,you cannot view the coding or the configuration part in case of ALE or EDI whereas you can view the same in terms of Transport requests.
The landscape means all the clients within one SAP system.

YouTube does not use Adobe Reader. Videos do not use Adobe Reader.
Adobe Reader is used only to show files in a special format called "PDF".
What you are having problems with is probably Adobe Flash Player.
So, if you are trying to solve problems with Adobe Flash Player by downloading Adobe Reader, or even Adobe Acrobat, it isn't going to help you in the end. Is that what is happening (we can't really tell without screen pictures, but it seems a likely guess).
