Route 1811 - Reduncy - Load Balacing

My configution today are:
I have two external provider to conect my brach office. It are PIN (172.16.10.1) and EOT (172.16.11.1).
I have two VLan  do InterVLAN Routing using Router on a stick  with FE1. I am using RIP protocol.
I am using my other routing Level 3  FE2 (172.16.10.4) to conect my   provider PIN (172.16.10.1). it work beautiful.
Now I need to create Reduncy - Load Balacing  with my other provider EOT (172.16.11.1).
and also I need connect my intenet provider CHARTER. 68.140.200.14.
Thanks for you help

Samir,
The load balancing algorithm used in CRS by default is based on L3, 3 tuple, hash.  So if you don't have enough different l3 source/destination addresses you won't see as even distribution.  Normally this is just fine.  But depending on the traffic flows you have you may need to go to L4, 7 tuple, algorithm.  This will then look deeper into the packets and use the L4 ports along with source and destinations addresses to balance out the flows.
To change this it's global config command "cef load-balancing fields l3/l4".
This will change the hashing algorithm used on the linecards for load balancing.
Thanks,
Bryan

  • Where does the router fallback to load IOS when the IOS in flash memory is corrupted?

If the ios image stored in flash is corrupted from where does the IOS is picked up?

    Hi,
The following details the router boot process:
    1. The router is powered on.
    2. The bootstrap program (ROMmon) in ROM runs Power-On Self Test (POST)
    3. The bootstrap checks the Configuration Register value to specify where to load the IOS. By default (the default value of Configuration Register is 2102, in hexadecimal), the router first looks for “boot system” commands in startup-config file. If it finds these commands, it will run boot system commands in order they appear in startup-config to locate the IOS. If not, the IOS image is loaded from Flash . If the IOS is not found in Flash, the bootstrap can try to load the IOS from TFTP server or from ROM (mini-IOS).
Last if it doesnt find the software anywere it would end up in rommon mode.

  • EIGRP and Load Balacing Per Packet CEF required on both ends???

    Here's what I have.
-2 T1's with same EIGRP metric
-CEF is enabled and load sharing currently
1 Link is being used more than the other due to nature of load sharing and not per packet using CEF.
I need per packet setup to see if this improves performance and distributes the usage over both links effectively.
If I enable per-packet on my remote office, do I also have to enable it on each PVC that connects back to my central office per PVC. Or can you enable per packet on the remote location only and be ok? I dont have control over central office router and need to justify if I need to enable that on the Central office or not.
Cisco docs I reviewed on this doesn't say both ends.

I agree with Sundar's point about needing to configure both ends if you want to use per packet in each direction. His point about the implications of forcing process switching and its impact on CPU utilization of the router is true but I am not sure that is what the original post was asking about. As I understood the original post he was asking about the per-packet option available with CEF switching which does not produce process switched packets.
I have one caution to offer about turning on the per-packet option with CEF. If you do that you will probably get better - but still not even - balancing of the serial links. But the performance may not improve. In fact it may degrade. This is because doing per packet balancing introduces the liklihood of out of order packets. The impact of out of order packets varies depending on the application being run and the impact of out of order packets. Many applications when they get an out of order packet will discard the packet and retransmit packets to get them in the correct order. I actually know of one customer site where they enabled per packet balancing and the performance of the application got worse. So I suggest that you evaluate carefully the implications of per packet balancing.

  • Load Balacing on VPN3000 with non-local address pools

Is it possible to load balance when the VPN3000 does not have an interface in the address pools, i.e. using "non-local" address pools as the documentation puts it? I know this works without clustering by setting static routes to the pool on the nearest router. But in a clustering setup it seems to me there is no way to assign a static route since there is no way to pre-determine which cluster member the client will connect to (an additional virtual address on the private network would solve this but I suppose it's too late to hope for new features!)

  • RV042 : load balacing and 0.0.0.0 on Wan2

    Hi,
I have 2 connexions : 1 Wifi and 1 Wimax. The Wifi need a user defined MAC address. I've configured the RV042 in load balancing mode.
    Here the different case :
    - if I connect Wifi on Wan1, I've got an IP address.
    - if I connect Wimax on Wan1, I've got an IP address.
    - if I connect Wifi or Wimax on Wan2, I stand with 0.0.0.0 (in load balancing mode)
    - if I connect wimax on Wan1 and wifi on Wan2 in smart link backup with primary Wan1, I lose internet connexion if I unplug Wan1
    - if I connect wifi on Wan1 and wimax on Wan2 in smart link backup with primary Wan1, I lose internet connexion if I unplug Wan1
I am behind routers on wifi and wimax. I have to be in Gateway mode to be able to ping internet (on Wan1, wifi or wimax).
I want to be in load balancing mode, wimax on Wan1, wifi on Wan2.
All cables are Ok, firmware version is 1.3.12.19-tm.
Is there something special to configure ?
    Kind regards.

    Hello,
Reviewing your issue with your RV042. I believe it is your ISP provider connections. Now I see you state that when connecting just one of your ISP in the WAN port 1 you are receiving an IP address, what is the IP address you are receiving? Is it a 192.168.xxx.xxx on both your WiFi and Wimax? I did find information on the WiMax you have at there home website. looking at the device this is a wireless modem/router, if you are able to access the configuration page on the Wimax and change the Local LAN IP to a different IP address. For the WiFi, is this also a wireless modem/router? If so, you will need to change that one as well.
You will need all 3 devices in different IP address so none of them will have a conflict.
    Example:
    WiFi modem/router: 192.168.1.1
    Wimax modem/router: 192.168.2.1
    RV042 router: 192.168.3.1
Or you can mix them up to your preference.

  • E1200 Router will not load Instagram/Facebook/ Pinterest on mobile devices

We have a Cisco Linksys E1200 router at home connected to our comcast modem.  Everything works great on our home computers and laptops, however on me and my wifes mobile devices (Samsung S5, Moto X) social media apps loads extremely slowly, or not at all.   If we connect to other access points in our house or elsewhere it works just fine.
Any idea what is causing this?  I set MTU to manual and that did not help.
    Thank you

I should have stated, that I power cycled, updated apps, and updated firmware on the E1200 to the latest version.  Linksys tech support would not help me because the E1200 is out of the warranty period.

  • Can I Load Balace a file share witness?

    Hi,
I got AlwaysOn Availability Group working with a file share witness.
The file share reside on a server in my network, hence it's a single point of failure.
Can I put a load balancer endpoint for the file share path when configuring the quorum? (After the configuration I will manually copy the files from file share A to file share B, so they will be the same).
My concern is that I don't know if the quorum configuration changes(making the file shares not the same) without me initiating that change(failover or some other event).
    Thank You!
(Originally I posted that question in "SQL Server High Availability and Disaster Recovery", but I was asked to move it to here.)

    David,
on one hand you say that it is not a single point of failure, but on the other hand you say "or if you have other nodes fail in addition to the FSW". That means that if the FSW is offline I can't have automatic failover, a thing which puts my application
in danger since I relay on automatic failover.
For me not having automatic failover is very bad.
My network is in Azure, the FSW is on one of my web servers(web servers and the database cluster are on different cloud services), since I'm using availability sets I know that at least one web server will be up at any given time. It is possible
that Microsoft will do maintenance or there will be a failure on the infrastructure and the FSW plus one of my sql nodes will be down, I won't have automatic failover in that case.
If you got a solution for me I will be happy to implement it.
    Thank You.

    Hi,
    check out these:
    1) SM59 - test connection
    2) look all the parameters of Receiver RFC adapter configuration
        Proper authentication details etc
    3) Save the RFC adapter channel and activate the same
    4) Refresh the cache for the Adapter metadata. Go to Integration BuilderAdmin>Cache Overview-->Directory -->Adapter Metadata
    5) Probably the problem may be becuase of RFC Adapter is not active. Restarting the RFC adapter at J2EE admin level may solve your problem
    Hope this helps,

    Hi,
To avoid all this mess, best way will be do discontinue the delta and do a full pull. That way you'll ensure that you'll get the full data from R3. Then reinit the delta and then reset the delta. This might take time depending on the data volume. Suggest you do this during a quiet time as you'll have less risk of losing any transaction data at the time of resetting the delta.
    Cheers,

  • Static routes for load balancing

if I point 2 statics to 2 destinations, does it load balance, i.e first traffic goes one way, next goes the other ?

Two routes to the SAME destination via DIFFERENT next-hops (which is what I think you meant by different destination )but the SAME METRIC, will load balance. If your interface is route-caching your load balancing will be per-destination, if you are process switching (eeek!) it will be per-packet.
The routes must be an exact match i.e same route and same mask length.

  • Router causing specific site to load slowly

I am using a wrt54g with the latest firmware. When I visit www.scarebearsclan.com it gets stuck on connecting for 6-8 seconds before beginning to load. The reason I believe it is my router is because when I disconnect my router the site loads fast and there is no delay at connecting. I cannot understand why this is happenning. I do not seem to have this problem with any other site that I've noticed so far. Please help somone. Thank you

Are you facing this issue on both wired and wireless computer ?
Try to change different wireless channels and then check.

  • Load balanced router hangs

    Hello,
did anybody else also experience the following problem?
    Problem:
The router of a load balanced service object sometimes and all of a sudden stops forwarding incoming requests to its instances, although all instances are available and free.
This finally causes the whole application to hang, since no further call to a method of that service object is being processed.
    Observations:
The dump of the load balanced router during this situation indicates that none of the instances is being used (see below). Besides, the instrument MembersInUse has a value of 0.
CPU load of the nodemgr and the router process increase significantly.
    There is no DB deadlock.
We have had this problem on several different load balanced service objects (at different times; with dialog durations message or transaction).
It does not depend on overall system load or on available memory resources - the problem can occur at any time.
We can solve this lock situation by restarting the router.
    UDS 5.0.3, HP-UX 11
Thanks in advance for any help or hints on what may be going on.
    Martin.

    Hi Mark,
thank you for your response. I talked to our network group, they told me, that there should be no scans going on. Do you have an idea how we could verify this from the application side, e.g. are there any trace flags we could enable to get some feedback?
Anyway, we did further investigations and found the following:
    1) The nameservice contains references to old, non-existing partitions, even to partitions that lived before the last reboot of the system, which are not marked as "[Needs Rebind] [Rebinding]" (showpart in nameservice). By the way, the instrument DeleteOnCommFailure is set to TRUE in our environment.
    2) The directory $FORTE_ROOT/tmp containing the unix domain socket files does not get cleaned up. It contains even very old entries.
    3) Putting 1) and 2) together, we found out that during the hangs of our system, the load balanced router tries to send a message to one of the not-more-existing instances of the Service Object.
    Example:
The following dumps were done while our system was hanging.
The router partition in question is ...:0x3ce25:0x1.
The non-existing partition of the Service Object instance is ...:0x3b913:0x2.
The non-existing process has the PID 16736 (there was such a process running a Service Object instance prior to rebooting the system).
The socket file '/forte/tmp/FORTE_A00004160' still exists.
