RUL-05403--Rules Migration

I have a big problem while doing migration from 10.1.3.5 rules to 11.1.1.2 SOA. I was getting the rule error RUL-05403 but no traces for this anywhere. I am wondering where this error code is tagged. The underlying problem is...
oracle.rules.tools.migrator.MigrationException: an exception occurred RUL-05403: The parameter "srcOutdir" is null. Ensure that the parameter is not null. the following snipped was picked from the actual program.

Bus Rules won't migrate - 11.1.1.3

Hi,
We have 4 applications. We use LCM and migrate all the artifacts from Dev to Test. For all applications, everything comes over. Except in one application the Bus Rules do not migrate. The LCM process complets with 'Successful' too, thus there is nothing in the logs to indicate why they don't show up in Calc Mgr.
Anyone have any idea why/how only one apps BR's won't migrate?
Also is there a utility similiar to formdef utility for webforms that migrates BR's?

Why won't Mail.app rules won't migrate, System Tiger to System Leopard?

Hi,
Mail.app rules won't migrate from System Tiger to System Leopard.
Here's what I did:
-- Clean install of System Leopard 10.5.6 onto a new Mac Pro.
-- Used Migration Assistment to move files from System Tiger to System Leopard 10.5.6.
-- Mail.app's rules failed to migrate.
So, I manually finder-copied MessageRules.plist into the proper folder to replace the newly created and empty rules set in System Leopard's mail.app, and afterwards, the rules then showed up in mail's preferences.
However, the "manually migrated" [finder copied] rules won't run.
In order to narrow the scope of the problem, I moved the former System Tiger's mail.app rules to the desktop and allowed mail.app to re-create a new rules plist file, then I created a test rule and it worked.
Questions:
Why won't System Tiger's mail.app rules files migrate to System Leopard, and won't work upon manual migration?
What is the remedy to "properly import" the rules to the new [System Leopard based] mail.app, or to make the manually moved rules plist file work?
For what it's worth I did follow the procedures at

in order to make the messages migrate, but that failed to affect the rules.

Create a rule in Rule Editor using a function module

Hello all,
I want to create a rule using Rule Editor.
As the requirements are complex, I created a function module; and I want the rule to call the function module
My company already done this in the past, but the function module was supposed to fill a composition
Here, it is a little bit different because I want the function module to fill characteristics in a property. I've tried to create the rule on rule editor which will call the function module but is doesn't work
Have some of you already used rule editor with a function module?
If yes, can you tell me if there are some "mandatory" parameters to add in Rule Editor to allow it to work?

Need information on the new RAR Rule Architect/Rule Set functions

Does anyone have any information on the new 5.3 functions listed under Rule Architect/Rule Sets, specifically the Compare function?
My 5.3 Config manual mentions this area but doesn't describe anything about it. I have a request from our user group and need to determine if this can fit that request.
What they are looking for is an easy way to compare our RAR Rule Set with the latest SAP version (Q2 2010 is the most recent I believe). Just from the screen shots, it looks like we could maybe use the Rule Sets functions for that. Load the new SAP one into RAR as a separate ruleset and then run this Compare function. However I haven't been able to find any documentation on this function, so I don't know if it really does what we are looking for.

the error 'NullPointerException ' is very common error in GRC.
kindly search, you will find lots of threads and notes on thi.
check you permission TXT file. It contain null value some where.
especially check SD01 & SD02 tcodes.
Also open permission file in word and check all TAB's and ENTER's in technical view.

For Creation of validation Goto GGB0.
You should choose in which module you are going to create. Like FA, AA, Cost accounting, Spl Ledgeretc.
Then at what level you want to do Validation. Like Complete Document level or Line item Level
Then You need to Define Your
1. Prerequite
2. Check and
3. Message
For Substitution goto GGB1
You need to define your Prerequisite and Substituion rule.

Find break-points source code (update rules, transfer rules)

Hi all,
Is there any effective and efficient way to find (active) break-points in source code, more specfic update rules, transfer rules or other objects where custom code is implemented? Or in other words look for strings in source code or programs.
I looked and searched everywhere but could not find any answer.
RSRSCAN1 (does not work)
RPR_ABAP_SOURCE_SCAN (does not exist)

Try this
1) if you're checking any program from SE38 ..goto Utilities -> find in the source code-> give breakpoint and search.
2) else. load data , Goto details tab in the monitor and right click on any of the data packages.
Simulate update -> choose transfer rules or update rules for debuging.-> It will take you debuging screen. -> Create a watch point with key word "break-point" and execute (F8).
It will go and stop where there is "break-point"

Cross Validation Rules & Security Rules

Is there any one who knows where I can function/package for cross vaildation rules & security rules in GL Modules?
I need them for our customization form before all transaction move from custom table and API table. It means we need to validate all transactions correctly in our custom form before its generated into transaction table in particular module.

Actually we a have customization form and interface. Due the customization programs need to use CVR, I need to know if there's a package/function/script to call this CVR procedure that we can attach to our customization programs. Before we send the transactions to API (open interface table) we already make sure there's no problem in accounting (code combination) since we activated CVR for generating account combinations.

Warning message :Assignment of appointment rules to rule ID incorrect

In solution manager service desk :
I am getting a warning message Assignment of appointment rules to rule ID incorrect when trying to edit the calling hours by pressing the Calling hour s Button in Control Tab.
I have checked with some of the other BP's available in system and they are responding good to edit, for calling hours.
Only few BP's have this warning message coming up.
Can you please suggest some solution for this issue.

Creation of Distribution rule(Settlement rule) in production order

Hello SAP GURUS,
I have one good query for you guys.When we create production order,by default it takes settlement rule (settle the cost of production order to material even that 100% settlement),and its because we have given the distribution rule (Default rule) in Order type dependent parameters.But in one of my friend system when i was creating production order manually it was not taking settlement rule by default and when i was going to save the order it was saying that settlement rule is not defined.I checked in order type that settlement profile was defined their.Even i checked in order type dependent parameter, distribution rule(default rule) was their as material 100% settlement,defined over their.
could you guys help in understanding this problem that where we have to define that system should create settlement rule by default(Settlement to material and even that 100% settlement).

THere are two strategies.. 01 and 02.
01 for manual creation of settlement rules
02 for auto creation..
first check whether 01 and 02 are in your plant.
Sales and distrib....basic functions......auto gen. of settlement rules.......
here you ll find two activities.
(1)maintaining the settlement strategies and
(2)activating one among them.
If you activate 02, your problem will be solved..

The settlement profile is to be defined for thee particular Order Type to generate automatically.
Define Production Order Type in OPJH
Under Cost controlling check the settlement profile .
If not create the same in OPJH.
Settlement Profile: Create settlement profile - SPRO > Controlling > Product Cost Controlling > Product cost by Order > Period End Closing > Settlement > Create Settlement Profile
Enter Settlement profile from OPJH or Choose one for production order
and configure Settlement profile. Indicators

what is difference between transfer rules and update rules? Can we do currency conversion in transfer rules? if yes how? if no why?
as far of my knowledge i think tran rules are info object level and update rules are data target level.

Transfer Rules:
When we maintains the transfer structure and the communication structure, we use the transfer rules to determine how we want the transfer structure fields to be assigned to the communication structure InfoObjects. we can arrange for a 1:1 assignment. we can also fill InfoObjects using routines, formulas, or constants.
Update rules:
Update rules specify how the data (key figures, time characteristics, characteristics) is updated to data targets from the communication structure of an InfoSource. You are therefore connecting an InfoSource with a data target.

Basically update rules are specific to Data Targets where as Transfer rules applies to InfoSource.When you want rule to apply to all the datatargets from a Infosource ,you write it in Transfer rules.

Update rule to transformation migration error

Error produced during update rule (BW3.5) to transformation migration. During start routine validation check it states that ' The data object 'COMM_STRUCTURE' has no component called 'BIC/ZCH_FABC1' but there is a component called 'BIC/ZCH_FAAC1'.
Even though this component is exist as part of communication structure, migration setup is producing an error.
System is BI SP 16 level. OSS message is created, if you have experienced any similar issues, pls. share and let us know.

The ideal best practice is to replace the Routines manually. As BI 7.0 wont hold Comm. structure, You are facing this problem.
So you replace Comm.Structure to with Source_Fields.
So while migrating the routines do it manually.
You can find a lot of info in SDN if you search using the related terms
regarding Migration.
