Run CF10 Developer in Standard Edition mode

Is there a way to run ColdFusion 10 Developer in Standard mode for testing?
My main concern is the Oracle drivers and if the standard edition will meet our needs, but would like to test it before purchasing what could be the incorrect license.

"Oracle Drivers" is not generally interpretted to mean "Drivers written by Oracle [the company]", it means "drivers written for Oracle [ie: the database]". A case in point... would you describe the drivers Oracle supply for MySQL to be "Oracle drivers" or "MySQL drivers"?
So will you please stop pedantically splitting hairs. You cannot use the drivers Adobe have licensed from DataDirect to connect to an Oracle database in CF Standard. I have now had this verified by two people, both of whom are sitting in front of a CF Standard install, and have taken time to check this for you. You can describe the drivers however you like, but the fact remains you can't use 'em.
You need to get hold of some drivers from somewhere else. I recommend getting some from Oracle, given - as you point out - they are the vendor of the DB in question. But there are other vendors who write Oracle drivers too. As you say: DataDirect do. You can use theirs. You have to pay for them though.

I need to restrict a developer edition the same as standard
edition is restricted, so I can tell my customers to buy Standard
instead of Enterprise edition. Is that possible ?
I just need to test my application under a Standard Edition
installation before telling my customers to buy Standard instead of
Enterprise edition, but I think Developer Edition allows me to do
anything from Enterprise edition, so I am not sure if my
application will work in the standard edition. Will just a
standalone setup do the trick ?

So it looks like the Developer is identical to the Standard
and the Trial download equals the Enterprise (for 30 days). I use
the Developer version at work and it does not come with the
Enterprise features.

Just a simple question : How do I get to a before after comparison on-screen, at the same time, for editing ?. Quick Fix automatically provides this, but what about when you are not in Quick fix, but rather in standard edit (I think that's what it's called) mode ?. Thanks for your help.

In PSE2 you can do Image>Duplicate Image, which will create a new file with "copy" appended to the name. Then position the 2 images side-by-side, activate the original and make your changes and you have the original (the copy) to compare against. When you are finished you probably just want to close the copy version without saving.

Licence for Development Oracle standard edition

If you have a large number of users (say > 50) it may be cheaper to purchase a processor license for the server. You will need to check this with your local Oracle sales representative as processor licensing has its own licensing metrics e.g. O/S platform and CPU.
Note that what my sales rep says is ok may not be what your sales rep says is ok, so get confirmation in writing for reference.

Background turns black in edit mode

I recently coded a few templates for use in Contribute -
specifically 2 different templates for 2 different designs. The
HTML looks as it it needs to in the supported browsers (IE,
Mozilla, Safari) and in DreamWevaer's WYSIWYG mode. It also looks
fine in Contribute's WYSIWYG mode until a user hits "edit". Once
they hit edit the white (or any other coloured) background of the
body text (content area) turns black in both templates. This makes
the layout have black text on a black background which makes
editing text a real challenge, to be polite.
I normally code tableless CSS sites, and make pretty
extensive use of CSS, however on these 2 designs I did use more
tables knowing it would end up in Contribute. I understand
Contribute has some struggles with CSS layout but am curious what
would cause colours to change in edit mode. Perhaps there is some
preference I can turn off to stop this behaviour, etc?
I looked on the internet a bit and also in these forums and
haven't found a way to address this aside from crippling the design
further. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

The only CSS issue I've run into where Contribute's edit mode
behaves differently from browsers or Dreamweaver involved all
objects in the editable region of a template disappearing when the
user used the Enter key to create a new paragraph. If I remember
correctly I finally isolated it to a "<br />" tag that had
been assigned an id linked to a CSS declaration of "clear=all".
Otherwise I've found that well-coded CSS renders fine in
Contribute.

Migrating windows 2003 standard edition to windows 2008 enterprise edition

We are using ECC 5.0 and our PRD system is running on windows 2003 standard edition,and recently we have got some physical memory problem.as windows 2003 standard edition supports only 4 GB of RAM. and we want to extend our RAM for that we are planning to upgrade os to windows 2008 enterprise edition,is that possible.and after upgrading OS what are the activities that need to be performed for SAP to run succesfully,kindly suggest.

I read note SAP Note 690432 - Windows 2003 Support in it regarding upgradation of os windows 2003 standard edition to windows 2003 enterprise edition.
Upgrade of Your Operating System
If you upgrade an existing SAP system to Windows Server 2003 perform the
following actions:
o Install the latest R3DLLINS
You find the latest dynamic link libraries R3DLLINS for Windows
Server 2003 on the EXT-Kernel CD in the NTPATCH directory.
o Replace the R/3 kernel with the EXT-Kernel.
If you do not replace it you will get error "SICK" after the first
logon attempt after the start.
In this case, download the disp+work package(s) from the SAP
Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/patches and unpack the
patch(es) to directory usr\sap\exe:
dw*_<patch-level>
Use at least patch level 186.
o Use the latest saposcol version.
This version supports the changed performance counter of Windows
Server 2003 to determine values for ST06 and RZ20.

o SAP domain under Windows Server 2003
Follow the instructions of the Windows documentation for the
migration of a Windows NT 4 domain to Windows 2003. For the SAP
environment some additional points need to be observed.
For Windows NT 4 there are two models for the SAP system domain:
- Single domain
All users and the SAP system build one single domain. This
domain can be migrated to Windows Server 2003 and exist there
as single domain.
- Additional domain
There is one domain for the users and a second domain for the
SAP system(s). For a migration to Windows Server 2003 the SAP
system domain has to be created as child domain under the user
domain. A "Top-down" procedure is to be used. The higher domain
(the user domain) must be migrated prior to the SAP child
domain. If the user and SAP domain is part of a larger domain
structure the complete domain structure for Windows Server 2003
needs to be planned in a preparing phase. Usually, the
structure created under Windows NT 4 has to be re-arranged and
consolidated.
The name space of the root domain and all sub-ordinated domains
has to be defined and the distribution of the DNS services
needs to be determined.
Note the following:
The SAP domain has to be created as child domain.
The SAP domain must not be converted into an organizational
unit (OU). OUs are not supported by R3SETUP and R3up.

Problems upgrading ver 9 developer to ver 10 standard edition.

We upgraded ColdFusion ver 9 Developer Edition to ColdFusion ver 10 Standard Edition. The CF Administrator reports that it is running Coldfusion 10 Standard edition and the correct serial number, but is still running in developer mode.
I called Adobe Support, but I could not make the support agent I spoke with understand that ColdFusion is an Adobe product. She kept asking if it was for Acrobat or Illustrator. Once she understood that ColdFusion was the Adobe product, she wanted to know which opperating system I was using. She would not accept Windows Server 2003 R2 SP 2, and insisted the correct answers were XP, 7 or 8.
I finally entered the ver 10 serial number in the "new serial number" box in CF Administrator, and rebooted the server, even though the Administrator was already reporting the correct ver. 10 serial number. That seems to have solved the problem.

I was wrong. Re-entering the version 10 serial number merely resets the IP addresses that are allowed to access the Coldfusion Server. The serial number shown in the \ColdFusion10\cfsuion\lib\license.properties file is correct for ColdFusion 10 Standard, however there is no previous serial number shown,. (Since this was an installation of a full retail version of CF 10, not an upgrade, that may be normal?) I tried stopping the ColdFusion services, deleting the "previous_sn=" line and restarting, but I am still running in developer mode.
The drives on our old server are dying so we really need to bring this new server online. Can anyone help?

Which SQL server edition do I need? Developer or Standard?

I currently work for a large firm using SQL Server 2012 with Management Studio - I use this to connect to our database and run querys against. I also use Visual Studio 2013 to create .rdlc report files.
I need to replicate what I'm doing for the large firm, but on a much smaller scale. All I need to be able to do is restore a database to a SQL Server that is anywhere between 10-20GB in size, use SQL Management Studio to run queries against that restored
database, and create the same type of reports I am creating using Visual Studio 2013 (.rdlc files).
I think because the database to restore is larger than 10GB I can't get away with the express edition. Can I just use the Developer edition? Or do I need the standard edition?

Development edition licenses can be used to install anything that isn't production, provided that everyone that connects to the server has their
own development license. MSDN licenses can be used as well if everyone has an MSDN license.

If you are going to do some test you are ok with developer edition otherwise you need to go for standard edition.

Unable to install Java 2 Platform Standard Edition Development Kit 1.4.2_11

I am unable to install Java 2 Platform Standard Edition Development Kit 1.4.2_11 and NetBeans IDE 5.0 on Windows 98. I get the following message:
Java 2 Platform Standard Edition Development Kit 1.4.2_11 cannot be installed on your computer because current account does not have sufficient privileges.
I am trying to install at home, no network, and as far as I can tell, there is no way to give yourself "administrative privileges". Is Windows 98 not supported anymore?

98SE is supported. See configuration requirements for the various versions.
Try downloading Java and installing it, then go to the NetBeans site and downloading it and installing separately.

Running GoldenGate against Oracle 11g Standard Edition?

We're looking to run Oracle GoldenGate against an Oracle 11g Standard edition database to another Oracle 11g DB also on Standard. I've been reading though the documents and they talk of Oracle to Oracle using XStreams which is part of Streams. But it's my understanding that Streams is only available on Enterprise.
So is it possible to run GoldenGate on Oracle DB Standard Edition?

AFAIK, Golden Gate has no requirement on Oracle edition to be used, but could have licence cost differences.
It works on Oracle from version 8i to the latest one, not only on Oracle database, and not only between same Oracle version and same OS, and not only between two Oracle db .

When running in edit mode get error

When I sgtart Premiere Elements in the edit mode I get an error. The error "There Is No Disk In Drive. Please Insert A Disk in Drive \Device\Harddisk\DR". I am running on Windows 7 X 64. I have no such drive on the system. Any ideas as what is happenong. I have tried reinstalling the program but the error persists. Thanks for any help.

This is an old story which may have a solution if your program is Premiere Elements 13.
If your program is version 13, then delete or rename the OldFilm.AEX file from OldFilm.AEX to OldFilm.AEXOLD.

and in the NewBlue Folder is the OldFilm.AEX file.

Seems like the security service is relying on log4j -- I've placed the jar in the $GERONIMO_HOME/lib directory but I still continue to get the error.
Any thoughts?

Will BOBJ Enterprise 6.5 SP3 run on Window 2003 server standard edition?

Trying to trace some documentation on system requiremetns for Business Object 6.5 but cannot find any...maybe i'm looking in the wrong place. My query is does anyone know if Business Objects Enterprise 6.5 SP3 will run on Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition with Apache 2.0.50 and Tomcat 5 ?
