Run Time parameters and multiple versions of RTE

I have an app that uses the RTE and requires several RTE parameters be set correctly. In several cases however, I may have a condition where there are multiple versions of RTE installed at the same time. I dont find any way of assigning different RTE parameters to different versions and therefore I am assuming that all the versions will get the same RTE parameters so that no matter which RTE is in use it will have the correct parameters. Is this correct and is there anything I shjould be aware of when runnign multiple RTE versions on the same Windows machine?

you can use as many .bat files as JREs is your windows OS.
file1.bat
JRE1_PATH/bin/java -Dparam11=value11 -Dparam12=value12
file2.bat
JRE2_PATH/bin/java -Dparam21=value21 -Dparam22=value22etc

  • LabVIEW Run Time Engine and ActiveX Automation Server

    Hi,
I have a question related to LabVIEW Run Time Engine and ActiveX Automation Server:
We have a tool developed in LabVIEW and TestStand. End user interface is a LabVIEW GUI (it's an executable) which executes TestStand sequences. Some TestStand sequences call lower level LabVIEW VIs.
Everything works fine with LabVIEW installed, but I was wondering if I could run this tool on deployment machine with only LabVIEW run time engine installed. We are using LabVIEW 6.1 and with only the run time engine installed, I get the error message: "Unable to launch the 'LabVIEW.Application' ActiveX automation server ".
BTW, we are planning to upgrade the versions soon.
Is it possible to make things work only with the run time engine?
    Thank you.

    Thanks for the response, Brian.
I did upgrade to LabVIEW 8.0 and TestStand 3.5. Everything works fine on the development computer where LabVIEW and TestStand is installed. On the target computer in the lab, I installed LV RTE 8.0 and TestStand 3.5, and now when a VI is called in a sequence file, I get the following:
    RunState.PreviousStep.Result.Error.Code  -18002
RunState.PreviousStep.Result.Error.Msg  "LabVIEW: The VI is not executable"
So, the executable opens and works fine (which means that the LV RTE is installed properly), but when a sequence calls a low level VI, it does not make it through.
    comments/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

  • Run-Time Menu and Event Structure~~HELP~~

    Hi, brothers,
I'm new user for LabVIEW. Use the version of LabVIEW is 8.6
    One problem describe as below:
Can Run-Time Menu and Event Structure exist simultaneously?
Without Event Structure, Run-Time Menu works well, but Run-Time Menu works abnormally.after adding Event Structure,
How do I modify the problem?
    Thank you for your help.

Yes they can coexist, but not how you did it.
Every iteration of the while loop you wait for an event in the event structure, and you look if the user has selected anything from the menu.
To get this working you should add an event for <this VI>\Menu Selection (User):
    Ton
PS you should add a stop button, the only way you can stop the VI is hitting the 'emergency stop' button, with hardware connected (like you have) this is not the adviced routine

  • Uninstall LabVIEW but leave run-time engine and DAQmx

Hoping there is an easier way to do this, basicall we are developing software on a customers computer that we buy and will eventually ship to them. However we can't ship them LabVIEW so we make an executable and just keep the run time, DAQmx and MAX. Is there anyway to do this easier than uninstalling LabVIEW and reinstalling everything else?
    Windows 7
    LV2013

Under Windows, try going to Control Panel | Programs and Features and find National Instruments Software. You might be able to select all except the run-time, DAQmx and MAX, then select uninstall. If not, then perhaps consider just making a full installer for your LabVIEW executable solution, this will clearly install only the necessary components for your code to work (if it's LabVIEW 2013).

  • Run Time Hours and Active Hours

    Hello all,
I've been trying to work up some reports regarding use of certain applications and I don't quite understand how ZAM actually generates the information for Run Time Hours and Active Hours of say Microsoft Access. Or what these options really mean.
Also, with a PC that may have mulitple users (all with their own user accounts), does it take a cumulative count of 'usage' of applications or is it based on a per user basis. And if it is per user, does that mean it will only report on the user that happened to be logged in on the PC when it was 'scanned' for the week?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Accessing Gmail suddenly stopped working on both my Powerbook pro running latest OS and Mail versions and on my iPhone. I can access via the web. I get the error that my password or username is incorrect. I reset my password in Gmail and confirmed it works on gmail, I then changed it on my Iphone and Mac Mail. It still does not work. I deleted the gamil account on mail on my mac and reinstalled it and it still will not work

I too started having my password rejected in MAIL.app for imap.mail.me.com for my icloud email address.  Can login to icloud with web browser fine.  This has been happening off and on for several days.....if I wait 2-3 hours it will suddenly start working again, but then problem re-asserts itself ;-)

  • Time Capsule and multiple USB drives ... no show

    Hi,
probably one of the Apple wizards can enlighten me here, as also the information in this forum seems inconclusive.
I have a Time Capsule, and everything is fine with that.
I can connect one drive via USB, and this drive shows.
However, I seem to be unable to connect two drives, regardless of HUB I use (I tried two powered and two passive ones fron three different vendors), and which sequence I turn these things on and off.
The first drive that is connected shows.
If I connect the hub with already spinning drives, it is nondeterministic which one will show up.
    But only one will show.
    Is this expected behaviour?
I find references on the Apple site and throughout this forum that multiple drives are possible.
    Greetings,
    - Thomas

This is not an answer, but it seemed like a good place to post my latest experience.
I got the Time Capsule and connected three drives to it via USB hub. It worked fine for awhile but then I realized that the backups were not running.
It was a struggle. I finally reinitialized the TC and then got another software program other than Time Machine to run the backups.
So that worked, but now when I plug the other drives in by USB the TC drops off. I can't connect to it.
The TC shows up on the network, but when I plug other drives in to it, it drops off the network.
I finally worked around the problem (with fingers crossed!). I plugged in a couple of the drives to one of my older macs and networked to that drive and the backups seem to be running.
The I plugged one of the drives in to my older Airport Extreme via USB and that backup is running via wireless.
Then if I leave the TC alone with nothing connected to it, I can run a backup to it.
But it is frustrating. First, I could run the backups with TM to the attached drives, no problem. Now, I cannot use the drives connected to the TC via USB. I have to connect them to something else completely.
And that is after the backups stopped working under TM.
It seems like the Holy Grail - a backup program that works.
For today, I think I have worked around my problem, but it is disappointing. I was hoping the TC would allow me to connect drives to it by USB and run the backup through TM. Now TC is basically a networked drive. (Forgot to mention that i am not using it for wireless connection.) I turned that function off and it just a networked drive.

  • What is the diffrence between java run time env and JVM ?

I wrote an applet on computer that installed run time env J2SE 1.4 that is running ok.
when i try to run the applet on diffrent mechine that has earlier version my applet didn't run ok.
Isn't enught just to install JVM ?

The target mechine requirements should be more then
    only JVM installed ?
do I have to ask for updated Run Time Env installed
also ?Yes, you have to. If your program has been developed taking advantage of a certain version of the JRE, then all people using your program must have at least that version of the JRE.

  • What to do if you simultaneously run Time Machine and File Vault

Never do what is mentioned in the subject line; even if you decrypt your drive, it does not spread to Time Machine, and so if you ever need to do a system restore, File Vault will forget your password and lock you out of your own system.
Thankfully, I ended up having recourse. The solution is to log in as root and create a disk image from the last Time Machine backup, "latest," and then duplicate that disk image. Having done that, paste the files into the user folder of your choice, recreating the account you have lost.

Realistically, your only option is to upgrade to an Intel-based Mac.
There is no way to use iCloud on a Mac running anything lower than OS X 10.7.2 - not even Snow Leopard.
You can access iCloud.com through a web browser on your current computer, but you'd need a Mac running 10.7.2 to move to iCloud and it wouldn't sync anyway...

  • Having very difficult time setting up and running time capsule and airport

I am having a very difficult time setting up and running airport express and time capsule. My time machine is not being recognized by my mac. The amber light keeps blinking. I'm ready to stsrt over.

#3 for itunes streaming. I reset the base station and eventually was able to get the backup working and now my green light is on. Next I'd like to be able to play itunes using Airport Express and have connected to my stereo receiver in another room.
AirPort Express Base Station (AX) - iTunes Setup
Either connect to the AX's wireless network or connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then using the AirPort Utility in "Manual Setup" mode, make the following changes:
AirPort Utility > Select the AX > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless
Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network
    Network Name: <existing TC's wireless network>
Wireless Security: <select the encryption type of the existing wireless network>
Wireless Password: <enter the existing wireless network password>
Verify Password: <re-enter the existing wireless network password>
AirPort Utility > Select the AX > Manual Setup >Music
    Enable AirTunes (checked)
iTunes Speaker Name: <enter desired speaker name>
    iTunes Speaker Password: (optional)
    Verify Password: (optional)
Click Update to write the new settings to the AX

  • Trying to upgrade my i-phone 3 operating system to ios-5.  The program seems to download fine, but at the end it says network run time error and then I have to cancel it out and try again.  Tried 5 times and I can't upgrade the system.  help?

I am trying to upgrade the operating system on my i-phone 3 to ios-5.  I download the program and it runs and downloads.  When almost finished, an error occurs that says Network run time error.  This cancels out the download.  I have tried 5 times with the sdame result.  Can anyone help?  Thanks

This is asked and answered frequently... a simple search of the forums would have revealed that disabling any Anti-Virus and Firewall software on the computer prior to downloading will rectify the issue.

  • Run time engine and NI-DAQmx installation order

    Greetings Fellow Developers:
I'm looking at a product manual that contains instructions to install NI-DAQmx, a product software installer created with LabVIEW 2009 SP1 Full and then the LabVIEW 2009 Run Time Engine in that order.
This does not seem correct--particularly if a LabVIEW 8 (or previous) Run Time Engine is already installed.
Since I need to test installation of my builds before distribution I'll need to install them on machines that have never had any NI products and also on machines that may have previous Run Time Engines.
I feel the correct order is to install the Run Time Engine, NI-DAQmx and THEN the application.  Prior to running the application the USB device should be plugged in so the 'add hardware wizard' can install the USB driver(s).
What is the consensus on this?
    Warm Regards,
    Saturn
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Saturn,
Could you point out the location of the product manual that explains this order?  Typically, when installing National Instruments products, in particular LabVIEW, we recommend installing LabVIEW, drivers, and toolkits in that order.  So, installing the LabVIEW 2009 Run-Time Engine, DAQmx, and then your application should be the proper installation process.
