Running 9i RAC and 10g RAC on the same physical cluster

We are planning to run 9i RAC ( with OCFS2 ) and 10g RAC ( ASM ) on the same cluster with 4-Nodes.
I will really appreciate if any of the forum members can share the information and experiences if the have done such implementation. We are currently running six 9i R2 clusters and are in the process of migrating them. The current need is to make the 9i and 10g cluster co-exist up to a certain point.
Thank You,
Madhu

Yes this is possible.. you may want to check out some papers relating to this on OTN and on the RAC SIG website at www.oracleracsig.org.

Yes for most.  You can run a regular app with an audio podcast.  I do not know what could run with a video podcast.

  • Running RoboHelp 10 and RoboHelp 11 on the same system

    Background
    Windows 7, 64-bit operating system.
Upgraded RoboHelp 10 to RoboHelp 11 this week. Upgraded my RH10 WebHelp Proj project (released with our 2.0 application) to start editing for release with 3.0 application next June .
The upgrade did not uninstall RoboHelp 10.
I work from within Visual Studio 2010 Professional. (I know that this is not a Source Control thread, but my issues are intertwined here.)
I create WebHelp Pro (even though we are not yet publishing to RH Server, although we're working on it!).
I check the output into Release folders in Souce Control, and the build picks up the files for installation with our application.
    Questions
If I need to update the 2.0 application Help, does anyone know whether I can still use RH10 to update that project? (I've posed the question to an Adobe consultant, but have not yet heard back.)
If I can't use RH10 to update the 2.0 application Help (and have to open the 2.0 project in RH11 and, therefore, upgrade it), are there new things in RH11 that could affect the WebHelp Pro output and, therefore, affect the use of the WebHelp Pro HTM files by the application? (Our release engineer believes that, for version control purposes, I must make changes to the 2.0  project in the same RH Client used to develop it.)
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi,Carol
First, (and to reiterate what Rick said) if you are not publishing to RoboHelp Server right now. Do NOT use WebHelp Pro. The Pro flavor is strictly for hosting on a RoboHelp Server installation.
The good news is that when and if you do decide to use RoboHelp Server, you simply take the Rh project (whether from Rh 10 or 11) and publish it with the WebHelp Pro SSL. It sounds like there is a some confusion between RoboHelp Server and Source Control. It is a common option to use RoboHelp Server and Source Control. But they are mutually exclusive. (While both may be used, they have nothing to do with one another.)
If you think about it, RoboHelp Server is output (by definition not "source")
So, you can continue using Rh 10 and 11 clients on the same computer, but as you note, you cannot open an Rh 10 project in Rh 11 because it is a one-way forward conversion (as Peter said).
As for publishing, be aware that when you move to RoboHelp Server, the publishing workflow is different. The web admin can't simply copy/paste WebHelp Pro output (from source control as you describe) to the Rh Server (or, as you said, "pick up files"). The project must be published from the RoboHelp 10/11 client directly to the Rh Server. This is because Rh Server is a database application and in order for the database to be "aware" of the new content, it must come from the RoboHelp client app (10 or 11). Also, in terms of Application Help and context sensitivity, there is a CSH API and a syntax that is used to call the Rh Server help topics from the application. This is covered in the online help. See the sub head "Access context-sensitive Help" in the Adobe RoboHelp Server 9 * RoboHelp Server Web Administrator tasks as well as Adobe RoboHelp 11 * Program Help for web pages

  • Can you run both Premium and Enhanced agents on the same UCCX system?

    Just that.
    Thanks,
    Steven

No; all seats must be of the same license level. The design guide mentions this around page 1-2 when it talks about product packaging options (i.e. Enhanced, Premium, etc).
Cisco Unified CCX deployments must have all product components and optional features of the same package type. Mixing components or options from different packages is not supported. For example, Enhanced Inbound voice option and Premium Quality Manager option are not supported.

  • Using Oracle 9i Client and 10g Server on the same box

    Hi,
All our applications are compiled using oracle 9i and the proc compiler for oracle 9i.
However we run the applications against a 10g database which has oracle9i and 10g co-hosted on the same both. We achieve this by using the oracle 9 libclntsh.so shared library which uses shared memory (I assume) rather than having a listener and tnsnames.ora entry.
My question is, is it support by oracle.
    Thanks,
    Iain

You can achieve this by install them into different ORACLE_HOME

  • Dual Environment - Running 8.5 and 9.0 at the same time?

We are currently running 8.5 on UCM, Unity, UCCX, Presence, and Attendant Console. I would like to upgrade to 9.0.
Can I deploy 9.0 on different Virtual Machines, get it all configured and tested, and then do a seamless cutover?
Or do I have to upgrade from 8.5 to 9.0 with no way back?

I think the best path for you depends on the requirement.  If you are already running virtualized 8.5 and don't really have any hardware compatibility issues to consider, then it would probably be more straightforward to upgrade the existing applications to 9.0.  There is the option to revert back to a previous version after an upgrade; however, there are a number of things to think about there especially if you run the new version for a while before running into an issue.  Not knowing particulars about your environment, I think it might be a good idea to possibly run what I call an "alpha" or test environment.  You could stand up a parallel set of VM's running new versions in a lab environment and run a test plan to validate any number of things.  In conjunction with a bug scrub and reading up on the new version, you could then validate whether you are ready to make that move in your production environment.

    Hi BI Experts,
We are in a situation where planned to run new Enhance pack 3 (from EHP1) in BI 7 system and also in same system migration of Bw 3.5 Authorization concept to BI 7 analysis Authorization. Both the activities are planned at the same time in same system.
Do you guys see any risk running two activities at the same time in same BI 7 system?
Would you please highlight your thought or opinion on this?

  • Run Javascript Routine and Validations/Proccesses At The Same Time

I have a Submit Button. When a user clicks it, I want the following to happen...
    1) I want a Javascrip Function to run
    2) I want the Validations And After Submit Proccesses To Run
I can do each seperately, but can't figure out how to do both at the same time. I can run the Javascript Function by assigning a Optional URL to the submit button (javascript:blah()) , but the Validations and Proccesses are by passed. I can have the normal submit process, but this doesn't do the Javascript part.

    Hi,
    You can chain javascript calls:
javascript:blah();doSubmit('buttonname');As long as blah() doesn't return false, then the doSubmit() function will be called and the page submitted as normal.

  • Running new GL and traditional GL at the same time

Hello, I am new to the forum.  I have a quick question about the new GL.  Can you run the new GL in a specific country while having the other countries of the company still running under the traditional GL? Or can you only run the new GL or the traditional GL?
    Thank you

    Hi
Refer to the following OSS Note for all migration queries
1070629 - FAQs: New General Ledger Migration
Read question 23 for answer to your query.
    23. You want to configure a new company code with the new general ledger. The existing company codes use the classic general ledger. Can company codes use different general ledgers (classic and new) in the same client?
The implementation of a new company code and the transition from the classic general ledger to the new general ledger are two different projects which you must schedule at different times.
You perform the migration from the classic general ledger to the new general ledger at client level and it affects all company codes in this client.
Because the new general ledger is activated at client level, the new general ledger would be active for all company codes, not only for the new company code. This would mean that the new general ledger is active in the old company codes, but there was no migration from the classic general ledger to the new general ledger. This is not possible.
Therefore, it is not possible to start with a new company code in the new general ledger while the classic general ledger is still active in other company codes in the same client.
First implement the new company code. Then set up the project for the transition from the classic general ledger to the new general ledger.
Alternatively: First set up the project for the transition from the classic general ledger to the new general ledger and migrate the data to the new general ledger, then implement the new company code.

  • Can I run office 2013 and Office 364 on the same computer?

My company is running Office 2013, Word, Excel, Project, Exchange and SharePoint.
I have a small business on the side and I was considering Office 365.
Is it possible to run both versions on the same machine without conflicts?
    Valgardur Gudjonsson

    Hi,
You can only run the click-to-run version of Office side-by-side with an earlier version of Office (say Office 2010) that is already installed on your computer.
Office 2013 MSI on a system with Office 365 (Click to Run) is NOT supported.

  • Can I run iPhoto 09 and iPhoto 11 on the same machine?

A few months ago I bought a MacBook Air, which came pre-installed with iPhoto 11. On a recent trip I tried using it to edit a lot of photos I took. This program is appalling! So many clicks to carry out edits (3:1) compared with iPhoto 09! Cropping is a nightmare on a trackpad; it's almost impossible to nail down the crop to the right size and position. The comments area is ruined; I annotate all my photos and this used to be really easy, with the comments area right next to the photo in the bottom left of the screen. Now I have to go through mouse clicks to access the comments and only two visible lines are available and then scroll bars kick in. To view the comments I now have to fiddle around trying to hover over the comments box, instead of just glancing at the corner of the screen.
Who designed this beast? Who could possibly think its editing ergonomics are an improvement over iPhoto 09? As a result, I want to install iPhoto 09 on my MacBook Air, which I'll do using by using the wireless disk function from my Mac Pro. The question is, do I have to de-install iPhoto 11 first, or can the programs sit side-by-side? I shall put the iPhoto 09 icon in my dock so I launch the right version.
I know this post contains a complaint, which is because I want to know if other users share my frustration. However, I have also sent a lengthy feedback to Apple in the hope they may simplify the editing in iPhoto 12.

    Hi Jayson,
I never tried to install SAP on XP myself... only heard that someone had issues with it, and it is not officially listed in PAM.
For separated ABAP and JAVA systems, you can install them in any order.
For ABAP+JAVA, you have to install ABAP first, or both at the same time.
All installation guides are available at https://service.sap.com/instguides

  • Running 10.7 and 10.8 from the same MacBook Pro

I'm unable to use the latest rev.'s of the software I use as they are written for 64 bit .... was wondering what I need to do exactly to have both 10.7 and 10.8 on the MacBookPro 5,1 ..... simply backup, partition and restore ?
Also, can I install and boot Maverick from an external drive and use programs on the internal ?
    thanx,
    Chris

Depending on how much space you have on your internal drive, you could indeed create two partitions and install two OS's.
You could also install Mavericks on an external drive but with only USB 2.0 and FW800 connections, performance would be painfully slow. Moreover, since many programs install parts of themselves in various libraries, it'd probably be better to clone your boot drive to the external, then upgrade that to Mavericks.

  • Run iMovie 06 and iLife 08 at the same time?

I hate to complain, but they should have called it imovie 1908, cause they stepped so far back. I don't get it. I LOVED the transitions and effects of 06. I bragged to all my windows colleagues how much better Apple does things... and then 08...
Anyway, can I run iLife 08 for the other functions, like iPhoto (which was a huge improvement) but uninstall iMovie 08 and install iMovie 06 instead? Be the best of both worlds!!!

iMovie 6 will work on a system with iLife 08 installed. If iLife 08 is installed on a system with iMovie 6, it will not erase the existing iMovie application. You can download iMovie 6 for free if you have iLife 08.
