Running shell commands in pre-post session commands

Hi Nikita: It depends on what kind of OS your Secure Agent is running on. If you're running your Secure Agent on Windows, you can enter DOS commands into these fields which may include SQL scripts using batch files. Similarly, if you're running your Secure Agent on Linux you can enter shell commands which may include SQL scripts using shell scripts. You should be able to find some examples of these commands from other Informatica Cloud users by searching the Community. Hope this helps,Josh

Hi all,I am new to informatica, can anyone please explain me how should i run shell commands in pre/post session commands?and what type of shell scripting is usually needed for the informatica jobs? Thank you

    Faheem LatifMy advice is you either provide sufficient detail, including all commands, and stop relying on crystal balls and fortunetellers.
    No one here was looking over your shoulder, so no one can tell what happened, without you providing sufficient clues. I agree with you this is cumbersome, and doesn't comply with your custom to dump everything here, not doing any research yourself.

  • Run shell commands using java program

    Hi guys,
    I am trying to run shell commands like cd /something and ./command with arguments as follows, but getting an exception that ./command not found.Instead of changing directory using "cd" command I am passing directory as an argument in rt,exec().
    String []cmd={"./command","arg1", "arg2", "arg3"};
    File file= new File("/path");
    try{
    Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
    Process proc = rt.exec(cmd,null,file);
    proc.waitFor();
    System.out.println(proc.exitValue())
    BufferedReader buf = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(proc.getInputStream()));
    catch(Exception e)
    {e.printStackTrace();
    So can anyone please tell me what is wrong with this approach? or is there any better way to do this?
    Thanks,

    What gives you the idea that the process to execute is called "./command"? If this is in Windows, it is "cmd.exe" for example.It does not have to be cmd.exe in Windows. Any executable or .bat file can be executed as long as one either specifies the full path or the executable is in a directory that is in the PATH.
    On *nix the file has to have the executable bit set and one either specifies the full path or the executable must be in a directory that is in the PATH . If the executable is a script then if there is a hash-bang (#!) at the start of the first line then the rest of the line is taken as the interpreter  to use. For example #!/bin/bash or #!/usr/bin/perl .
    One both window and *nix one can exec() an interpreter directly and then pass the commands into the process stdin. The advantage of doing this is that one can change the environment in one line and it  remains in effect for subsequent line. A simple example of this for bash on Linux is
    import java.io.OutputStreamWriter;
    import java.io.Writer;
    public class ExecInputThroughStdin
        public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception
            final Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("bash");
            new Thread(new PipeInputStreamToOutputStreamRunnable(process.getErrorStream(), System.err)).start();
            new Thread(new PipeInputStreamToOutputStreamRunnable(process.getInputStream(), System.out)).start();
            final Writer stdin = new OutputStreamWriter(process.getOutputStream());
            stdin.write("xemacs&\n");
            stdin.write("cd ~/work\n");
            stdin.write("dir\n");
            stdin.write("ls\n");
            stdin.write("gobbldygook\n"); // Forces output to stderr
            stdin.write("echo $PATH\n");
            stdin.write("pwd\n");
            stdin.write("df -k\n");
            stdin.write("ifconfig\n");
            stdin.write("echo $CWD\n");
            stdin.write("dir\n");
            stdin.write("cd ~/work/jlib\n");
            stdin.write("dir\n");
            stdin.write("cat /etc/bash.bashrc\n");
            stdin.close();
            final int exitVal = process.waitFor();
            System.out.println("Exit value: " + exitVal);
    }One can use the same approach with Windows using cmd.exe but then one must be aware of the syntactic differences between commands running in .bat file and command run from the command line. Reading 'help cmd' s essential here.
    The class PipeInputStreamToOutputStreamRunnable in the above example just copies an InputStream to an OutputStream and I use
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.io.InputStream;
    import java.io.OutputStream;
    public class PipeInputStreamToOutputStreamRunnable implements Runnable
        public PipeInputStreamToOutputStreamRunnable(InputStream is, OutputStream os)
            is_ = is;
            os_ = os;
        public void run()
            try
                final byte[] buffer = new byte[1024];
                for (int count = 0; (count = is_.read(buffer)) >= 0;)
                    os_.write(buffer, 0, count);
            } catch (IOException e)
                e.printStackTrace();
        private final InputStream is_;
        private final OutputStream os_;
    }

  • Running Shell Commands (not Executable) in Unix from Java

    What are my options to run shell commands from Java?
    My goal is to change my existing shell environment variables to some new ones provided by .anotherProfile.
    Using an executable from Java is not an option because it does not work i.e. ( exec(". /home/.profile") ) brings up errors.
    Someone has suggested that I start a child shell with that profile and work from there, but I'm unfamiliar with that sort of syntax and programming in general.
    Any good help equals duke dollars :)

    Well there are some possibilities. In the original thread you mentioned that you wanted the shell script to be executed to change some enviroment parameters of the shell the JVM is executing in.
    If so, and you are able to rewrite the profile so you can parse it manually. Then you can change some environment setting by writing the JNI wrappers for the getenv and setenv system calls. (Check your man pages)
    That will change the environment. I am just wondering what good it will do for you? What's use of sourcing the profile in a JVM?

  • [Solved] stumpwm: how to get rid of newline using run-shell-command

    Hi all,
    in order to set up my mode-line for stumpwm, I've been using the commad
    run-shell-command such as in:
    (setf *screen-mode-line-format*
    (list
    '(:eval (run-shell-command "date" t))
    '(:eval (run-shell-command "date" t))))
    However, each instance of run-shell-command creates an unnecessary
    newline (so that my mode line contains two lines without necessity).
    Do you know how I can get rid of this newline?
    Thanks!

    I didn't test it but the function you want is 'string-trim' or 'string-right-trim'.
    You use it like this:
    (string-trim '(#\Newline) my-string)
    So in your case:
    (setf *screen-mode-line-format*
    (list
    '(:eval (string-trim '(#\Newline)
    (run-shell-command "date" t)))
    '(:eval (run-shell-command "date" t))))
    That works perfectly well. Thanks a lot jiyuu!!

  • Is it possible to run an update via target tables post load command

    Is it possible to run a sql update statement via post load command of target table?
    What does it mean by post load command, does it gets triggered only after a successful execution of a data flow (to Target table)?
    Or it can also gets triggered even if a dataflow fails?
    this is teh sql which i would like to run via post if dataflow success only.
    Update tbl_job_status set end_time=nvl(NULL,sysdate()) where job_id = (select max job_id from tbl_job_status where j_dataflowname='Chk_Order_Delta')

    I do not believe it will necessary run if the df fails. If you want your job status table updated no matter what (apart from a complete DS meltdown), you'll want to wrap things in a try-catch to make sure you're handling the update. You can do it in a script, or with a dataflow. A nice way to handle all this sort of operational metadata tracking stuff is to write yourself a library of custom functions and then consistently call them fore & aft of jobs or workflows or whatever components you want to track.  If you've got access to a Rapid Mart, you might look at what they've done there -- nice stuff (although you can't just "borrow" it).

  • Another powershell workflow script will run in powershell ISE but no powershell command prompt.

    Hi,
    Im having some issue with a few powershell workflow scripts that will work in powershell ISE but they will appear to not run in a Admin powershell command prompt session.
    The script is simple.
    Workflow NewUser
        Param (
                [Parameter(Mandatory=$True)]
                [string] $givenname,
                [Parameter(Mandatory=$True)]
                [string] $surname,
                [Parameter(Mandatory=$True)]
                [string] $template
        "Param1 = $givenname"
        "Param2 = $surname"
        "Param3 = $template"
    The saved file name is NewUser.ps1.
    When I run .\NewUser.ps1 -givenname test -surname test -template test
    Nothing happens.   In Powershell ISE, it outputs
    Param1 = test
    Param2 = test
    Template = test
    I can run .\NewUser.ps1 skdjfsdkfjsdkfjsdkfj in powershell command
    and nothing happens.
    I notice this behavior with a number of scripts that I get working with ISE and they dont work in powershell command prompt.
    We are using Powershell 4.0
    Thanks Lance

    When I run
    Set-psdebug -step
    then newuser.ps1 -givename test -surname test -template test
    it gets to the line workflow newuser and quits
    am I missing some dependency?

  • Post-archive Command

    In FCSvr 1.5, has anyone successfully used the Post-archive command within an archive device? While I can archive and restore items successfully, trying to run even the most basic nothing of a script using the Post-archive command causes a spinning progress wheel of death that won't stop until I close the window containing the asset and then reopen it. Also, the asset I attempted to archive does not get archived (which is probably a good thing if there was a problem with the script, but all I'm running is a simple shell script that just echos a test message to the terminal -- it doesn't even do anything tricky). Thanks.

  • How to run powershell in adminsitrator mode using invoke-command

    Hi,
    I'm trying to run the below script from the remote machine I'm getting the output as below and the msnpatch.exe is not getting executed on the remote machine(testserver).
    When I run the same command on the testserver, a new powershell session is getting opened and able to run msnpatch.exe.
    So, how to invoke powershell in runas administrator mode and run msnpatch.exe on that administrator window is my question.
    Thanks for your time. Your reply is highly appreciated.
    Script:
    Invoke-Command -ComputerName testserver -ScriptBlock {
    $myWindowsID=[System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity]::GetCurrent()
    $myWindowsPrincipal=new-object System.Security.Principal.WindowsPrincipal($myWindowsID)

    $newProcess.Verb = "runas"
    $newProcess.Arguments="-noprofile -command msnpatch.exe"
    [System.Diagnostics.Process]::Start($newProcess)

    There is no elevation when running remotely. UAC only affects local sessions. You cannot elevate a remote session.

  • COMMAND column in V$SESSION table

    Is there any table which stores all the meaning of various values that can be stored in COMMAND column of V$SESSION table
    Like 3 is for SELECT and 47 for Execute, I found some documentation in data dictionary but was wondering if there is some table that can be used when a trigger or procedure is running to pull the values on the fly.
    Thx

    You can find the various values for V$SESSION.COMMAND in Table 7-5 COMMAND Column of V$SESSION and Corresponding Commands found in the link below to build your own table.

  • Can not access FWSM via session command in cisco 6513 (VSS enabled)

    Dear All,
                  Today i received FWSM from cisco (RMA), I need to configure it as standby unit for existing FWSM active/standby setup.
    IOS on RMAed FWSM is 2.3.4 and  cisco VSS supports FWSM IOS 4.0.4 and later.
    My issue is, I cannot access FWSM (IOS 2.3.4) via session command from cisco 6513 but could successfully consoled it without any problem. I have reloaded it twice and also tried to disable and enable power on it.
    VSS#sh module switch 2

      2  Pass
    VSS#session switch 2 slot 2 pro 1
    The default escape character is Ctrl-^, then x.
    You can also type 'exit' at the remote prompt to end the session
    Trying 127.0.1.21 ...
    % Connection timed out; remote host not responding
    Can someone please let me know why I cannot access FWSM through session command ?
    Whether this is because of older IOS ? If yes then how to upgrade its IOS ?
    Is it possible to upgrade IOS via FWSM console ? if yes, please let me know.
    Do i need to test on different slot ?
    Look forward to hearing from someone.
    Thanks & Regards
    Ahmed...

    There is a limitation that FWSM running version older than 4.0.4 will not accept session from the switch if the FWSM is not seated into switch 1 AND if switch 1 is not active.
    So to upgrade the FWSM you either need to use the console or put the FWSM physically in switch 1.
    Thanks,
    Jeroen

  • 'alter session' command generating a vast number of audit files

    Oracle: 10.2.0.5
    OS: HP Itanium.
    We have requirements to turn on auditing to the operating system for security purposes. We have only set the init.ora parameters and have not actually enabled any sql statement tracing yet. The parameters we have set are:
    audit_file_dest
    audit_sys_operations=true
    audit_trail =xml, extended (the xml is based on requirements).
    We have a login trigger that runs 'alter session set current_schema=<>' This has been a part of the application for years. Every time someone logs in this gets set.
    We are getting 1 trace file every time this is run.
    Is this from the audit_sys_operations?
    I ran some queries of the Audit views and I don't think we have anything turned on. This is an old legacy system so someone may have issued some commands at some point in the past. There are a lot of views and I may have missed this.
    How do we disable auditing the 'alter session commands' ?

    Hi,
    You could try: noaudit alter session;

  • Assessing Command 'Analyze Source Files' via Command Line when running TestSTand Deployment Utility

    Our Software Configuration Manager is running the TestStand Command Line Deployment Build Tool (Ref: https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-38947).
            When he builds the application,  the code will not be at the same location it was in development.
    If you are Manually running the TestStand Deployment Utility, This is not a problem because everything is relative in the workspace.   Simply go to the Distributed Files Tab (of TestSTand Deployment Utility) and hit the, "Analyze Source Files" button.  This finds the required files and apparently creates an updated hard path to be used during the build (probably in the *.tsd).
    PROBLEM:  We auto-run the Command Line Deployment Build Tool (Command Line), and we do not have access to the, 'Analyze Source Files' command.
                As a result, our build consist of many warnings and the output is missing many files (the location of the files have not been updated).
    If we could access the 'Analyze Source Files' Command via command line, that would fix the issue.
    FYI:  We use an automatic builder called Quick Build as our builder.
    Attachments:

    Unfortunately it looks like Analyze Source Files does not have a command equivalent for the command line based on this article and attached PDF:
    https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-38947
    That may be a good post for the TestStand Idea Exchange for consideration in future versions of TestStand.

  • Need a sample file for IDQ parameter file and a Shell script to execute it from command line

    Hello,The parameter file itself is generated from cmd line using infacmd command and it automatically creates the parameters inside it based on the parameters created inside the mapping and the workflow. So, even if one provides you a paramtere file for IDQ, it might fail as your workflow definition and its paramters would be different. Thanks,K

    Hi all   My project migrated from Power Center to IDQ developer and I had to move all my mappings to IDQ developer. I was able to migrate everything except for the parameter files. It seems that the layout and syntax for parameter file is different from Power Center. Is there anyone who can help me out or send me a sample of a parameter file for IDQ? As well as a sample shell script to run the mapping or application from the Command line.This is an urgent need and It will be greatly appreciated.   ThanksNaveen Medisetti

    Check /var/abs/extra/eclipse/eclipse.install. Typo in post_remove: post-install should be post_install. You can run the post_install manually (and maybe report this in the bug tracker), but it just updates the gtk icon cache, so it's nothing to worry about.
