Runtime execution in Portal

Have anyone tried executing system commands from a portal channel (java class)? From the codes below, "try 2" is never printed out in the channel, any idea why?
content.append("try 1");
Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
Process proc = rt.exec(cmd,envp,calPath);
content.append("try 2");

Hi,
As you are having a Portal runtime Exception, it means that you are using a portal.
You can refer to SAP note 1596214 - "How to find the latest default trace file of the NW AS Java right after reproducing an issue".
It also contains a reference to a note that explains about a nice tool called "Logwatch" that can be used.
Regarding the NWA - it depends on the version that you are using, but basically there is a troubleshooting section in the NetWeaver Administrator, to configure and see the traces.
More information can be found in the following documentation:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73ehp1/helpdata/en/47/af551efa711503e10000000a42189c/content.htm

  • How to create dynamic room in runtime execution?

    Hello All,
    Can you please suggest me how can I create dynamic room in runtime execution? I do not want to create fixed room from the room consol. I want to create a new room & also delete it after work complete in runtime execution.
    thanks,
    krish

    Hi Krish,
    If you are using your own server to do ExternalAuthentication, then you can
    user server to server API's to do that. Please refer to Server2Server apps
    in the SDK's sample apps folder.
    Else you might have to use AccountManager with room
    owner credentials. But the Server2Server aprroach is highly recommended.
                    private var acctMgr:AccountManager = new AccountManager();
                    acctMgr.accountURL = m_accountURL;
                    acctMgr.authenticator = authenticator;
                    acctMgr.addEventListener(AccountManagerEvent.LOGIN_SUCCESS, authenticateSuccess);
                    //acctMgr.addEventListener(AccountManagerEvent.LOGIN_FAILURE, authenticateFailure);
                    //acctMgr.addEventListener(AccountManagerEvent.ACCESS_ERROR, onAuthenticationAccessError);
                    public function authenticateSuccess(event:AccountManagerEvent):void {
                       acctMgr.addEventListener(AccountManagerEvent.ROOM_DELETE, onRoomDelete);
                       acctMgr.deleteRoom(name, template);
                    public function onRoomDelete(event:AccountManagerEvent):void {

  • How to execute dir dos command in Runtime Execution

    Hi All,
    Does anybody know how to execute the dir command in DOS in the runtime execution
    for example,
    when we open the command prompt,
    c:\Documents and Settings\java> e:
    e:\cd java
    e:\dir *.*
    how we can list the directory in runtime execution?

    Process childProcess = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /C dir *.*");or try with
    ProcessBuilder pb = new ProcessBuilder("cmd /C dir *.*");
    Process childProcess = pb.start();
    NOTE: We can use the ProcessBuilder class from J2SE 5.0+.
    for further reference check the below link
    http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-12-2000/jw-1229-traps.html?page=3
    and don't forget to go through API documentation for java.lang package
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/lang/package-summary.html
    and if you want to implement it through Java which provides you a list of Files & directories in the present directory here is an example of such code snippet REF:as insisted by my fellow poster.
    File file = new File("<present_directory_path>");
    if(file.isDirectory()){
       String fileNames[] = file.list();
            for(String fileName:fileNames)
               System.out.println(fileName);
      fileNames = null;
            or for detailed info use
             File files[] = file.listFiles();
             for(File fileEntity:files)
                System.out.println("FILENAME:"+fileEntity.getName+",IS FOLDER:"+fileEntity.isFolder()+",ABSOLUTE PATH:"+fileEntity.toString()+"FILE SIZE:"+fileEntity.length());
             files = null;
    }and please do not forget to go through File API Documentation provided as recommended by my fellow poster.
    hope this might help :)

    Have created a Iview in Portal. On execution of Iview following error is shown
    Portal Runtime Error
    An exception occurred while processing a request for :

    How to resolve this ? I am doing the development using NWDS.
    Regards,
    Sumant
    Edited by: Sumant Mujumdar on Mar 4, 2008 11:12 AM

    Hi,
          Declare service reference for the usermanagement and sharing reference for KM service in portalapp.xml
    <application-config>
    <property name="SharingReference" value="knowledgemanagement"/>
    <property name="ServicesReference" value="com.sap.portal.usermanagement/>
    </application-config>
    Also add all these jars into PORTAL-INF/lib folders and also as external jars in build path. That will solve NoClassDefFound problem.

  • Runtime Error in Portal

    Hi All,
    In one of my iviews, i need to set an input filed as of Pull Down type. Now there are 2 options available either to set the input field as a Dropdown or as a Pull down.
    When i use Dropdown its working absolutely fine, but when i change it to Pull Down type its showing an error as follows:
    Portal Runtime Error
    An exception occurred while processing your request
    Exception id: 01:14_20/06/08_0037_6865850
    See the details for the exception ID in the log file.
    Its coming properly when i preview the page and when i assign the page to my user id. But when i try assigning it to some other user, and when that user logs in its giving an error.
    Is it some problem with the permissions to the user??
    What should i set in the permissions then??
    Any helpful answers will be surely rewarded. Please reply ASAP.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Becky.

    Hi Becky,
    Please check if the the iview that you are assigning it to another user has everyone group or super admin rights. Open the iview in question and check the permissions and let me know what you find.
    Also, in the mean time you can paste a copy of your log file.
    Cheers,

  • Adding Portlet at Runtime to the Portal, displaying Empty Error Message Box

    Hi All,
    I had developed a Webcenter Portal Application, in which i had included runtime editing capabilities for pages and customization at user level - deployed successfully in PS5 Server.
    I also made another simple Portlet Producer Application - deployed successfully in PS5 Server.
    While, i try to register the Portlet in the Portal application at runtime, through Portal Console - Successfully tested the connection and registered.
    But, when i try to add the registered Portlet to Portal Page at runtime, through Portal Console - Failure with Empty Error Message Box popup.
    Further analyzed the Managed Server logs of both WC_CustomPortal and WC_CustomServicesProducer. Both the logs are pointing to same Exception.
    Kindly provide your inputs on this.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Portal Runtime Error after Portal SP21 Patch Update

    Dear GURU's,
    Greetings!
    We have installed and configured SAP Netweaver 2004 WAS Java and have EP 6.0 SR1 - SP9 system on Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition Service Pack 2 and MS SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2.
    We had connected the server to the backend R3 system and completed all the configurations for an HCM implementation with KMC. We had updated the SP level from SP9 to SP21.
    When we were trying to access the portal system today we found a Portal Runtime Error when we launched the Portal URL. The error is mentioned below.
    Portal Runtime Error
    An exception occurred while processing your request
    Exception id: 07:02_06/11/08_4102050
    See the details for the exception ID in the log file.
    We had not changed any of the configurations in the system, we also had experienced the same error in the UWL Administration link in the portal system and our portal consultant was working on the same.
    Please help us in solving the error. We would be glad to know the reason of the error and also the measures to avoid the same in the future.
    Expecting your reply at the earliest.
    Thank you
    Regards,
    Vineeth

    Dear Ravi & Vamshi,
    Thank you very much for the reply.
    I solved this error.
    This is caused due to insufficient permissions that is configured in the security zones of the portal system.
    The below mentioned document specifies further details and inital permission settings,

  • Java iView runtime error on portal 7.3

    Hi Experts
      There is a specific user who is facing an issue with our client portal version 7.31.
       When the user is trying to access portal link, an error message is observed for the user.This message comes instead of the logon page.
       Error message details :
    Java iView Runtime
    An exception occured while processing your request.
       Please help to resolve the same.
       The same user is able to logint though citrix.
    Regards
    Shaily

    Hi Shaily,
    If this is just happening for one particular user and the same user is able to access the portal through Citrix, this could be a browser issue.
    Please ask the user to clear the browser cookies / cache and then try again.
    Hope he is using the <FQDN> while accessing the Portal Url.
    BR,
    Anurag

  • Configuring runtime classpath for portal applications?

    G'day,
    I've got a portal application that uses the classes found in system/kernel.jar and system/frame.jar. When I build the portal application in the IDE I can add these to the build path as external jars, but when I run the portal application I get "class not found" errors.
      java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/engine/core/Framework
    So ... how do I add these jar files to the portal application's runtime classpath?
    --Geoff

    Hi Geoffrey
    Jar files are required in two ways:
    For Design time: User external jars(as you have done)
    For Run time: Put the jar files in the lib folder(this way the par/ear ) itself will contain the jar files.
    Right click the project - >properties->java build path->libraries-> Add Jars (and not Add External Jars)->select your project->dist->PORTAL-INF->lib->select the jar file.
    Hope it helps.

  • ACS v. 5.1.0.44."Runtime" Execution failed or not monitored after patching

    Hello,
    I've installed on my ACS appliance the following patches:
    5-1-0-44-1
    5-1-0-44-2
    5-1-0-44-3
    5-1-0-44-4
    The installation of the fourth one was interrupted - I don't know why - and since then, the Process 'runtime' shows the status Execution failed or Not monitored.
    The system logs are:

    I already tried to remove the patches, install next patches, rename patch n°4.
    Nothing changes.
    Could you please tell if there is a solution before I re-install everything with the DVD?
    Thanks,
    Best regards,
    Patrick

    Hi,
    I had no error message except for patch 4 for which I get a message:
    Patch '5-1-0-44-4' is already installed.
    % Error: Failure to open / validate the patch
    That's why I did change the name to patch_5-1-0-44-4.tar.gpg.
    The install went well, but the problem is still there
    Rgds,
    Patrick
