Hi,
I am trying to install Oracle Apps 11i on Linux. Main error is can't find libjava.so.
Settings are as follows:

I tried copying libjava.so to all directories mentioned in LD_LIBRARY_PATH i.e. /usr/lib:/usr/X11R6/lib:/usr/java/jdk1.5.0_22/jre/lib/amd64
Appreciate any help on this.
Thanks

Hi,
As per the doc 357006.1, I downloaded a patch but even patch installation gives the same error.
As per the 2nd doc 1076893.1, following is the output:
# uname -a
Linux orcl 2.6.9-89.0.25.0.1.ELsmp #1 SMP...EDT 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
# cat /etc/redhat-release
Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2 (Carthage)
Not sure if 64-bit OS is causing this or not.
Thanks

  • Libdb.so.3 issue during Apps 11i installation

    Dear Members :
Encountering: error while loading shared libraries: libdb.so.3: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory >> in step 4/5 and message showing "starting CVM on middle tier"; while installing EBS 11i on Centos 5.4.
CentOS might not be the certified version, but since it is nothing but RHEL, I tried. Could you clear my confusions :
[1] If patch 6078836 solves the issue, how to download, as I don't have Oracle SID.
[2] Whether patches are not required if I install it on OEL5 and what should be the right Update version for that ?
[3] Is there any way I could still install on CentOS5.4, applying some rpms, to overcome libdb.so.3 issue ?
    I downloaded EBS 11i from e-delivery choosing "on-demand/Linux X86" .
    Thanks in advance.

Other people has had this problem before, you may want to check for it Re: Error RW50004/RW50011.
Most common solution for this issue has to do with the way ksh is being called from the path envrionment variable, and where the install script assumes where it is.
    1. Make soft link of the file from /usr/local/bin/ksh to /usr/bin/ksh and before you start your installation start a session in a ksh environment.
    or
    2. Alter the search path used by the install script. Not advisable, as you are not suppossed to tamper with Oracle code.
    or
    3. Copy ksh From /usr/local/bin/ksh to /usr/bin
It is recommended to read the metalink this document Doc ID: 287453.1 "Oracle Applications 11.5.10 - Installation Update Notes for Linux x86 ...".

  • How can i run Apps 11i client on linux?....Plz help.

    Hi There,
I have a very ridiculous problem. I have installed Oracle applications Rel 11i pack on my desktop on Red Hat Linux7.2. The problem is that when i try to access it using Netscape navigator it says that run Jinitiator on the machine. And Jinitiator is for windows platform only. Now i m struck at this point...Database is running,Concurrent Managers are running,Web server is running,Forms Server/Report Server is running...The only thing is that i cant access it..
Please help..its really very strange that oracle does not support Linux clients...no plugins are provided for it..so in a way indirectly still they are vouching the Microsoft monopoly.....?
Well please help me.....if anyone has any solution...
    Thanx in Advance..
    Deepak.

Well put, Deepak. We also cannot believe that Oracle does not yet support Linux on the client side (especially Red Hat versions which are widely deployed). Our teams are also battling with this issue as we are desperately trying to move away from the MS-onopoly. Surely the big O will hear the pleas of its customers and get their act together soon...
    Regards
    Mike

  • Running Apps 11i on Linux with 200 concurrent users

    Hi,
Is there anybody out there running a large apps 11i installation (with the
database and middle tier) on Linux ?
We are currently running 11.5.9 Apps with a 9.2 database on Sun kit but I'd
like to investigate Linux/Intel as we are planning to replace our hardware.
We have about 200 concurrent users, with a total of 1800 registered users, using
    Financials, i-Procurement and HR.
    Thanks
    Tony Vallis

Having worked extensively on Linux, its true that is is limitied in 32 bit mode to addressing a few GB of memory for each application (It is at least better than windows with its 2/3GB limit), although you can play around with it and memory windows to get more out of it for the database tier.
We have used 1 * 6650 with 8GB RAM running AS 2.1 DB Tier
and 2 * 2650 with 8 GB RAM ruuning AS 2.1 Apps Tier with conc mgrs too.
This was with 11.5.10 and it comfortabley supported 200 users. The servers were 2.8GHz Dual core Xeons. Redhat 3 or 4 would have been better becuase of a file cache issue on the database tier.
Also rememeber to consider Oracle licensing, A faster CPU might cost alot more but when oracle licenses are based on core/cpus then you may save alot more by having the highest power cpus u can (MHz rating not ness cores). Sun T2000 servers are quite nifty too if you want to stay with traditional unix kit but not want the price tag.
When workign at internally in Oracle We quoted one client a 3 * 4 CPU 6650 with 8GB in RAC config with 12 * 2 CPU 2650 with 4GB to support 5000 concurrent users. I wasnt convinced this would work at the time but the client had massively over estimated the number of users they would actually have so all was fine.
If I was doing this now I would go for a single 64bit DB tier with 4 CPUs and lots of memory, I would have lots of small8gb mid tiers 2850's, with a hard ware load balancer in front and a dedicated GB backend network. I would ony go for RAC if I needed the resiliance or had a large number of users e.g. 1000+
All in my opinion and I am in no way suggesting this as a solution for any other customers. Always perform a hardware siazing exercise in conjunction with your hardware vendor (remembering they always want you to buy more hadrware than u need).

  • Developer tools for Apps 11i

    Hi,
I have recently installed Oracle Apps 11i on Oracle Linux. I am using this installation to learn about Oracle applications and in particular HRMS.
Now I would like to install the Oracle developer tools (Forms, Reports, SQLPLUS, etc) on a windows PC so that I can access the 11i installed database (I believe version 9i Oracle enterprise 9.2.0.6.0).
    I have the following questions
    1. Is there a single install that would install all the tools on the PC?
    2. Since the database is 9.2.0.6.0, should i install the 9i version of the tools or should i go straight to 10g
    3. Which tools should i be installing and is there a link for downloading them?
    4. Do i need to install oracle client 9i?
    5. Do i need to install anything on the server side (oracle linux) for the tools to work? and are there any links to installation instructions?
I have spent about 3 hours looking up information about what to install and with the different versions, etc it is a bit confusing.
I am not a dba, so my knowledge is not extensive.
Thanks in advance for your help
    Steve

    1. Is there a single install that would install all the tools on the PC?Oracle Developer 6i
    2. Since the database is 9.2.0.6.0, should i install the 9i version of the tools or should i go straight to 10gYou are looking for a development tool, so you need to download/install Oracle Developer 6i (which has nothing to do with the database version).
    3. Which tools should i be installing and is there a link for downloading them?Oracle Forms Developer/Services 6i Release 2 for Windows 98/NT/2000/XP
    http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/forms/htdocs/winsoft.html
    4. Do i need to install oracle client 9i?No.
    5. Do i need to install anything on the server side (oracle linux) for the tools to work? and are there any links to installation instructions? You need to register your host through OAM or disable the SQLNet restriction so that you can connect to the database. Check the following note for more details:

  • APPS 11i on Linux

Has anyone worked on Apps 11i on Linux ?
What version of Linux is required to install R11i ?
    Thanks in advance.

You need Kernel version 2.2 or higher. I installed 11i on Redhat 6.1 which has 2.2.12-20 with out much problem. The only thing you might want to down load is the Motif Open Libraries from www.metrolink.com.
These libraies will be needed for bringing up the forms server after installation. Redhat does not ship these lib's with it.

    Hi Hussein :
[1] Would you pls. tell me what you mean by "need to source" - is it just running .env file ? Under $APPL_TOP I see the following .env files : APPSORA, APPSVIS_oel5, VIS_oel5 and VIS; none of them having permission to run. So I chmod, ran VIS_oel5 and find LD_ASSUME_KERNEL value null - as usual (I am on OEL 5.3).
[2] I tried using http://oel5.localdomain:8000/oa_servlets/AppsLogin using sysadmin/sysadmin and got the following out of many more :

  • Installation of Oracle Apps 11i Realese 5 with 11.5.6 Family Pack

I am having problem starting the installation of this program.......Oracle Apps 11i Realese 5. I have Windows 2000 and would like to do CD installation rather than Stage installation.
I have downloaded and ran the JDK-1_1_8_009-Win. Here are the steps taken: I inserted the Red CD "Start Here" in my CD-ROM, opened the DOS prompt, and changed the C:> prompt to E:> prompt which is my CD-ROM drive, I then typed E:>cd rapidwiz....Enter, this opens E:\rapidwiz>, I then typed rapidwiz.cmd which was supposed to open my Oracle Universal Installer, butI got: E:\rapidwiz>start.\bin\launch.exe.RapidWiz.cL
    E:\rapidwiz>
What do I do from here, do I insert the Disk 1 or what, because I have 14 CD's to be installed.

    Hi Timi,
Nice to see that you're involved in the setup of Oracle Applications 11.5.5. I see that you've run into a few roadblocks and while I am sure that I have a solution to the problem you're facing, it's a tad too long to get into on this forum.
If you could get in touch with me via E-Mail ([email protected]) or call me at 732 423 8023 (I'm available after 8pm EST), I'd be glad to help you out. Forgive me for saying so but the installation process is rather long and I have no desire to outline the entire process here.
Just curious, are you professionally associated with Oracle Applications or does it stem from a personal interest ?
I look forward to hearing from you.
    Best Wishes,
    Rajesh Aialavajjala

  • Since I purchased from App store, location Hungary, and installed OS X Lion on my MacBook Pro, during downloads and installation of various apps or software, I get prompts part in English and part in Hungarian, which is very irritating, I prefer English

Ever since I purchased from Appstore, location Hungary, and upgraded to OS X Lion on my MacBook Pro, during downloads and installation of various apps or software, I get prompts part in English and part in Hungarian, which is very irritating, I prefer the prompts to be in one language, that is English. is there any solution?

Go to system preferences/language & text/language and use the Edit button to uncheck the box for Magyar/Hungarian and restart.

  • Installation of Oracle Apps 11i

I have purchased Oracle Apps 11i(One month license) around two months back. Will it be a problem if I install after 30 days of purchase?(I have back dated the host by two months.
    The Host Name is Ciber.
I tried to load Vision demo on WIN NT6.0 SP6 by giving DNS Domain name by
right click Network Neighbourhood/Protocols/Double Click on TCP/IP Protocal and giving DNS Domain Name as 'applic'.
and it was pinging when I give 'ping ciber.applic'
While installing Vision Demo the system allotted web port as 8002. No errors reported while installing Oracle Apps.
If I give the following command at the browser
http://ciber.applic:8002 it says error 430 unable to resolve host name ciber.applic
however the application home page was coming if I give the host IP address at the browser as http://192.168.245.200:8002.
But if I click on any of the links it is going to ciber.applic and error 430 is coming.
Then I have loaded Windows 2000 Professional and tried the following.
Right click on Mynetwork places/Properities then Right Click on Local Area Connection Double Click on Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)and I gave the the same value '192.168.245.200'for IP Address and preferred DNS server.
Click on 'Advanced' click on DNS I have added 192.168.245.200 as DNS server addresses in order of use. I gave DNS suffix for this connection as 'applic' and Installed Vision demo.
I am not able to understand where I am doing mistake.
Can any one help me out to sort out the problem?
    Thanks in advance
    P.Ratna Prasad

    Ratna,
You can write the IP and the hostname in the hosts file in the "C:\WINNT\System32\Drivers\etc\" directory. For e.g. if your IP address is 192.168.1.1 and your hostname is "RatnaPC" then you should write like this on a new line in the "hosts" file:
    192.168.1.1 RatnaPC
Don't forget to hit the return key at the end of the line to bring it to the next line!!!
This for sure will help in resolving the hostname.

    Srinivas Aekbote

  • Installing Oracle EBS 11i installation problem

    Dear All,
I have a problem regarding the installation of Oracle EBS 11i of which I can't figure out a solution.
After unzipping all the 108 files during the rapidwiz installation the installer seems to halt (in step 1, 100% of file extraction). It involves instconf.drv but it doesn't show me an error in the installation logs. The line that appears is the following:
    instantiatefile -d instconf.drv
I tried to change my Linux distribution from SLES10 to Ubuntu but that doesn't work either.
Could you please help me out with this.

  • Install instructions for Search Modeler and integrating with Apps 11i

Below are all the steps I took for creating integrating Search Modeler with an Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10.2 ATG RUP 7 instance called ERNIE.
Much thanks to Oracle Support ( Rajesh Ghosh, Vikas Soolapani and Roger Ford), as this simply wouldn't have been possible without them.
There are a few things in this document that may not be pertinent to your environment if you're doing this. I've made attempts to clarify those possibly optional sections in the documentation.
I've broken the document down into the following multiple parts
o Setting up a new RedHat 4.8 x86 server called ausSEARCHdev (The server is in AUStin, TX, is dedicated to SEARCH, and is for our DEV environment)
o SES (Secure Enterprise Search 10.1.8.2 install
    o SES 10.1.8.4 patchset install
    o SES CPU patch apply
o Standalone OC4J and ADF installation
o Search Modeler installation and configuration
o Configure ERNIE Apps instance to be on valid self-signed SSL certificate
o Import ERNIE SSL certificate into SES and Search Modeler
    using aussearchdev initially
    rh4 x86, default oracle build

we're going to go with the standalone OC4j 10.1.3.3 and Oracle ADF 10.1.3.3 method
The URLs for these products are
    http://blogs.oracle.com/ebssearch/2009/10/available_now_oracle_search_modeler_11_for_oracle_e-business_suite_11i.html
    and specifically

    ADF - http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/jdev/htdocs/adfinstaller10133.html
    OC4J install
First you need to have Java 1.5 on the machine. Latest is 1.5.0_22. Package is in /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES
    as root on aussearchdev
    cd /usr/local
    cp /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES/jdk-1_5_0_22-linux-i586.bin .
    chmod 700 jdk-1_5_0_22-linux-i586.bin
    ./jdk-1_5_0_22-linux-i586.bin
    yes
install OC4J just by copying over the directory
    as oracle on aussearchdev
    mkdir -p /d01/oracle/oc4j
    cd /d01/oracle/oc4j
    cp -r /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES/oc4j/* .
    ADF install
    vi /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES/adf/adfinstaller.properties
    change the following
    OracleHome = /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES/adf
    DesHome = /d01/oracle/oc4j/
    type = OC4J
    as root
    cd /usr/bin
    rm java
    (yes)
    ln -s /usr/local/jdk1.5.0_22/bin/java
    su - oracle
java -version     should now return 1.5.0_22
    export JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/jdk1.5.0_22
    cd /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES/adf
    java -jar runinstaller.jar -version
returns The version for the ADF libraries being installed is 10.1.3.41.57 - yes, that is apparently 10.1.3.3.
    java -jar runinstaller.jar adfinstaller.properties

So, creating a self signed SSL certificate for ERNIE EBS instance (this will not work if you use an SSL certificate for another server like say, PROD)
    doing this on ausernieapp
    openssl genrsa -des3 -out ausernieapp.key 1024
    PEM key is ausernieapp
openssl req -new -key ausernieapp.key -out ausernieapp.csr
    PEM key is ausernieapp

    Organizational Unit Name Information Technology
    Common Name ausernieapp.domainname.com
    Email address [email protected]
    No challenge password
    No optional company name
Now let's remove the passphrase from the key
    cp ausernieapp.key ausernieapp.key.orig
openssl rsa -in ausernieapp.key.orig -out ausernieapp.key
    Now let's generate a self-signed certificate
    openssl x509 -req -days 1000 -in ausernieapp.csr -signkey ausernieapp.key -out ausernieapp.crt
Install the private key and certificate
    cd $IAS_ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf/ssl.crt

While talking with Oracle, they mentioned the following patches

Below are all the steps I took for creating integrating Search Modeler with an Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10.2 ATG RUP 7 instance called ERNIE.
Much thanks to Oracle Support ( Rajesh Ghosh, Vikas Soolapani and Roger Ford), as this simply wouldn't have been possible without them.
There are a few things in this document that may not be pertinent to your environment if you're doing this. I've made attempts to clarify those possibly optional sections in the documentation.
I've broken the document down into the following multiple parts
o Setting up a new RedHat 4.8 x86 server called ausSEARCHdev (The server is in AUStin, TX, is dedicated to SEARCH, and is for our DEV environment)
o SES (Secure Enterprise Search 10.1.8.2 install
    o SES 10.1.8.4 patchset install
    o SES CPU patch apply
o Standalone OC4J and ADF installation
o Search Modeler installation and configuration
o Configure ERNIE Apps instance to be on valid self-signed SSL certificate
o Import ERNIE SSL certificate into SES and Search Modeler
    using aussearchdev initially
    rh4 x86, default oracle build

    cp ausernieapp.key ausernieapp.key.orig
openssl rsa -in ausernieapp.key.orig -out ausernieapp.key
    Now let's generate a self-signed certificate
    openssl x509 -req -days 1000 -in ausernieapp.csr -signkey ausernieapp.key -out ausernieapp.crt
Install the private key and certificate
