Same SSID, different Vendors

Hi,
Has anybody in this forum ever deployed a wireless network with the same SSID, but using 2 different vendors.
We have a warehouse and office space separated with concrete wall.  In the warehouse, we have one vendor
and in office, we have another vendor.  We want to use the same SSID in order to facilitate roaming.
Is this feasible?
Thx

It will not work well in some environments. Two separate systems, lightweight and autonomous does not communicate with each other to support roaming.
If you have standalone access points using open or maybe preshared key, then it can work since each roam required a full reauth. As long as the users are in the same subnet, it can work. If your using 802.1x then the roam will be very slow due to full reauths.

  • Same SSID different MAC address

Ok... This is the best place for me to post this I think...
I am sharing an internet connection and am relatively close to the router (linksys) but because of the materials my building is constructed with I get a **** poor connection. So, there is a closer range extender that I can connect to, the range extender is also a linksys range extender, and I have no problems when I connect to it. The only problem is actually getting connected to it in the first place. My computer will automatically connect to the router rather than the base station. They both have the same SSID, and obviously different MAC addresses. Is there a way to force my computer to only connect to the range extender and ignore the signal from the router?

I have no problems with the range extender itself. It works great. The problem is that my airport card cannot tell the difference between the range extender and the router. Sometimes it will connect to the router, and sometimes to the range extender. I want to force it to connect to a specific MAC address rather than using only the SSID. Is there a way to do this?

  • Same SSID, different vlans

I currently have a 4402 in place, with my main office building working fine.
We are looking at bringing in the wireless at 4 other sites, but we want to use the same SSID.
How would I go about assigning different vlans (networks) to the same SSID.

You can use the "AAA Override" feature on controller. You need to have different dynamic interfaces for different vlans configured on the controller. After sucessful authentication, radius server could pass the dynamic interface information to the controller and controller can put users to different vlans according to the feedback from radius server:

  • Error fetching network with same SSID, different floors

    Dear,
I would like help from you, because I have a problem and I can not detect.
I have six devices installed in the WAP model 4410N on two different floors, and a third on each floor.
Both are with the same SSID, but when I'm walking him on a quest equipment that is in another floor, which causes the machine to drop the connection due to fluctuations and barriers such as walls, doors, windows, elevators, etc. .. .
I wonder how to detect only the AP network of walking even with the same SSID.
VLAN use one at each andaar.
If you have any suggestions thank you.
    thank you
    Anderson

    Hi Anderson,
It sounds like you have 5 access point in standalone and 5 SSID broadcasting but you can't know the difference between which SSID is good depending where you are at.
If you can use any of the AP as a repeater (you may repeat 2 additional ap), when the signal strength of the original connection is low enough, it should fall to the more powerful strength of the repeated SSID.
Additionally, if you'd like to use more than 3 AP in a repeater group, you may want to look in to something like the AP541N. These devices support clustering, up to 10 units.

  • Same SSID, different passwords

    Greetings all,
My work takes me to several schools every week, each with the same SSID (let's call it "faculty"), but each with a different password. I have to enter all the settings manually everytime I walk into a new school, and I'd love for the macbook (and iPhone too) to just remember all the settings for each school. I'm only a teacher so I have no power to change SSIDs or passwords. Is there a way for ML to remember networks by the AP's MAC address (and not just the SSID), or some other method?
    Thanks!

I have 3 linksys routers and the iPad has been able to connect to them all. I settled on the Linksys WRT54GL because the others are old and starting to exhibit dropout problems.
My suggestion would be to temporarily shorten your password to one or two digits and see if that helps. Before playing around with the Linksys I would suggest that beforehand you save your config file in case you need to restore the router.
I am on G band only, channel 6. My wireless security is set to WPA Personal, TKIP+AES, and I have a 26 digit WPA shared key. BTW, the 26 digit key is a real pain in the butt, but perhaps provides additional security.
Like nearly everyone else, I am occasionally experiencing short internet disconnects followed by an automatic reconnect. I'm hoping the next iPad upgrade will remedy this.

  • How to force OSX to connect to a specific Access Point i.e. manually choosing beetween different APs with the same SSID?

My office room is near different APs with the same SSID, my Snow Leopard selects automatically to join the AP with stronger signal.
But this AP isn't running well, so I want to force my mac to join a AP with weaker signal.
(I've the same troubel as described in https://discussions.apple.com/message/6470508#6470508)
Note that I'm a guest user and I hanen't access to APs, so I cannot change their SSID.
Any idea how to force Mac to join a specific AP?

  • Howto block p2p traffic of clients connected to the same ssid on different wlc

    Hi all,
I use two wlc 4400 (4.2.x version) with a mobility domain and one ssid, both wlc are connected to a cisco l2 switch infrastructure. On the wlc I use the p2p blocking action 'drop' (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/5.2/configuration/guide/c52wlan.html#wp1209597) to isolate the clients from each other. Does anybody know if only unicast traffic is blocked or also multicast and broadcast traffic like arp requests?
Concerning blocking p2p traffic of clients connected to the same ssid but different controllers I found the following statement in the LAP FAQs (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps430/products_qanda_item09186a00806a4da3.shtml):
    ===
    Q. In autonomous APs, Public Secure Packet Forwarding (PSPF) is used to avoid client devices associated to this AP from inadvertently sharing files with other client devices on the wireless network. Is there any equivalent feature in Lightweight APs?
    A. The feature or the mode that performs the similar function of PSPF in lightweight architecture is called peer-to-peer blocking mode. Peer-to-peer blocking mode is actually available with the controllers that manage the LAP. If this mode is disabled on the controller (which is the default setting), it allows the wireless clients to communicate with each other through the controller. If the mode is enabled, it blocks the communication between clients through the controller. It only works among the APs that have joined to the same controller. When enabled, this mode does not block wireless clients terminated on one controller from the ability to get to wireless clients terminated on a different controller, even in the same mobility group.
    ===
Does anybody know what's the best practise to prevent this inter wlc client traffic? I already read about using acls on the wlc dynamic interfaces, or private vlans on the l2 switch vlans where the dynamic interfaces are connected to. Is it allowed to completely isolate the wlc from each other on these dynamic interfaces with acls or private vlans or do the wlc need to see each other on this interfaces (e.g. heart beat)?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Thorsten

    Hi Sasha,Thorsten
The bug is Junked and I believe which is what you are running into with your tests:
    CSCtr60787    WLC P2P Blocking Set to Forward-UpStream Doesn't Work.
    Bugtoolkit : http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/action.do?hdnAction=searchBugs
To answer your original query :
ACL is only solution to block client communication on same ssid between 2 wlcs. 5508 works better with ACLs then 44xx platform.
ARP requests will be forwarded to upstream router just like any other traffic. WLC won't proxy arp for clients on same vlan.
Gateway arp's I believe should be handled by WLC . ( Don't quote me on this but I am pretty sure it is ) ..If it was not, then how would client know about gw ?
Multicast traffic is not applicable for p2p.
Your ACL can be as simple as this for the scenario :
    WLC 1 - clientvlan = 10
    WLC 2 - clientvlan = 10
and you want to restrict users from wlc1-wlc1, wlc1-wlc2, wlc2-wlc2 for same vlan10.
Basically in that case the ACL should look like on both WLCs :
    1. Permit statement to talk to gateway.
    2. Deny to subnet.
    3. Permit all.
    4. If DHCP/DNS other services are on same subnet then you would need to add a permit
    statement before the deny.
    5. Attach the ACL to SSID or dymanic interface.
    Thanks..Salil

This is the result of a preference setting. In the General section of the prefs set the radio button for "When Scaling:" to "Apply to Content" instead of "Adjust Scaling Percentage" and the values will reflect their true dimensions. In tyhe meantime you can select the object and open the menu on the end of the Control panel and choose Reset Scaling to 100% to reflect the actual weights.

  • GR and IR from different vendor??

    hi experts

X vendor he 'll distribute the same some 50 vendors and advised to send materials and invoice to me with ref to 1 PO.
So, i 'll be doing GR and IR from 50 different vendors lik per vendor 2 quantity . ( Like third party).
By keeping reference of 1 PO , i have to do GR and IR for 50 different vendor .
Any suggestion and solution in SAP.
    Thanks

    Hi,
U can acheive this via Partner Function.
There U can give the ordering Address(OA) and Good Supplier(GS) as different vender
and PI(invoice Party) as one vender.
Suppose you get material from different vender and Invoice from other vender.
    Hope Help U !

  • One PO for two different vendors

    Hi Experts ,
    My Questions are ......
    Can we maintain two different vendors for two different materials and create one PO ? ;
    How does it work  ?
How is it sent to different Vendors ?.
Will the vendor receive one general PO containing all line item materials from different vendors...or Each vendor will receive his own line item PO (PO Split)...
    Regards
    Albert

    Hi Albert,
    Your qns-
    Can we maintain two different vendors for two different materials and create one PO ? ;
Yes you can maintain 2 different vendors for 2 different materials. But you cannot create a single PO (i.e. PO with same number) for 2 different vendors. I do not understand why you want to create one PO for 2 vendors supplying different materials. Can you please explain the logic for it?

  • Unplanned Delivery costs in MIRO for different Vendor

I have an annual PO and I invoice it with normal MIRO transaction.
At the same time I have one service which I want to be a unplanned delivery cost for this PO. This service will be assigned to the material account and it is for a different vendor.
Can I do it in MIRO creating only the value in the unplanned delivery cost and insert a different vendor? In OBYC this is assigned to UPF category.
    Can you please help me?

    Hello,
You can use transaction MIRO to do unplanned delivery costs.
You use "Subsequent Debit" and insert the PO number (equal to invoice). The system will show the lines of the PO that were already invoiced and in the tab "Details" you should change the Invoice Party and inser the value of the unplanned delivery costs in the field "Unpl. Del. Csts".
If you don't have the costs in the PO for different vendor you must create like this...with Subsequent Debit. Only if you have planned costs in the PO it is possible to do it invoice and costs in the same document for different vendors otherwise you must have 2 documents (invoice for the material vendor and subsequent debit for the other unplanned costs vendor).

  • Different MIC,s for different vendor.

    Hi,
My client has a business sceenario like this...
they procure same material from 2 different vendors.for one vendor they want simple MIC's to be inspected and for other they want some more characteristics to be checked. I can use two IP but they dont want it.
Plz give some solution for this.
    Thanks

create a inspection plan for the material.
Create 2 group counter and assign different MIC's.
Goto header and select material assignment tab. in that you will see the group counters and also a field for vendor. you can fill the vendor no there.
in this way you can create  combination of material, group counter and vendor.
during GR, system will select MIC based on the above combination

  • Need to setup AP's with the same SSID

We are looking to purchase two Acess Points for our new building.  Currently at our old facility we have two lower end AP's with two different SSID's.  Users just manaully switch between the two.  I'd like to know how difficult it would be to set things up so users wouldn't have to manually switch as they traveled through the building.
I have been looking at Cisco AP below and was wondering if it had the capability to do this.  Is there any other hardware or software required to set something like this up.
Just to clarify I only need two AP's and want things transperent to my users.  I want them to be able to walk from area covered by AP1 and to another area covered by AP2 and not loose any connection.  Also want this to be automatic so the users do not have to do anything to switch things over.
Any info anyone can provide to help me out would be greatly appreceated.  Thanks in advance.
Cisco Aironet 1140 AIR-LAP1141N-A-K9 Wireless Access Point

Note that the part number you gave (AIR-LAP1141N-A-K9) requires a controller to operate.  That is because the OS on it is a lightweight image.  If you already have the APs, they can be converted to autonomous mode per the instructions at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/conversion/lwapp/upgrade/guide/lwapnote.html#wp161272.  If you haven't yet ordered them, use AIR-AP1141N-A-K9.  (Or,use 1142 if you want both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz radios.)
And, yes, if you configure both APs with the same SSID and the same encryption/authentication, clients will be able to connect to both without changing their parameters.  Whether or not they roam properly is dependent on how close the APs are to one another and how well the individual clients roam.

  • Same person as vendor and customer

    Dear
I have to create the same person both as a customer and vendor.
I have done the following settings: Added the number of vendor in customer master & customer in vendor master. Also checked the indicator for clearing in both.
I just wanted to know if now i do a sale to this person, will the Vendor Outstanding Amount get updated? Are there any more settings?
    thanks
    Pub

It's not mandatory to use the same ID for vendor and customer if they are the same entity, you can use different IDs w/o any problem.
It might be difficult, if you are using internal number assignment. It may occur that the ID is already occupied by a vendor or customer.
You can link your customer to your vendor both in XK01/XK02 (LFA1-KUNNR; control tab) and XD01/XD02 (KNA1-LIFNR; "Control Data" tab). One assignment is enough.
In this case you can always see, which customer belongs to which vendor.
Sometimes plant vendors, customers are defined via external number assignment, to have the same ID as the plant, but this should be decided in advance...(separate account group is used generally, with separate number range)

  • Different vendor during invoice verification

    Hi All
In my testing I came to know that the system is allowing any vendor as different payee in MIRO screen irrespective of PO vendor and even i am able to post the document without any error or block.
I don't have any partner functionality.
There is no frieght vendor maintained.
    company codes used are correct.
Please can any one of you tell me how to control this?

    Hi Lokesh,
I have not explained Partner function at all.
I have explained Std. functionality of MIRO. That means, you can change the vendor at the time of MIRO.
Now coming back to your question, how can system picks-up different vendor at the time of MIRO at each time?
Same vendor code or different vendor codes at each time?
Have you maintained difference vendor code in Head Office?
    Bye,
