SAP GUI session crashes in Windows 7

Hello,
I have Windows 7 Enterprise Edition and I'm using SAP GUI 7.10 compilation 4 / patch 14.
Here's what happened:
- i've logged into SAP client, entered a standard transaction (ESWTMON01 or EDATEXMON01), pressed click on a switch document or ID POD and then freezes.
On my screen I have the transaction screen and the busy pointer of the mouse, nothing else.
I've looked into SapWorkDir folder for a trace file (sapfewdll_01_0002_00_2176_1408.err.trc)
Here's the content:
(Error)(02.02.10 09:58:56.253):    CALL METHOD "CreateControl"[DispID=5] OF [#8/0x052A70B8/101/{83658045-6571-3232-7082-797884697868}]
                    #0: LONG "129"
                    #1: STRING "SAPGUI.GridViewCtrl.1"
                    #2: LONG "1409286144"
                    #3: LONG "128"
IDispatch::Invoke raised exception
Does anybody know what's the cause of this crash? is it SAP GUI, the patch, my OS?
I've tried every standard transaction in SAP IS-U, it works for a couple of minutes, then SAP GUI freezes.
I can only stop the session from Task Manager.
If someone had this problem before, I'd be more than glad to hear a solution.
Thank you,
Eduard M.

Hello Eduard
Try to register the gridview.ocx manually in Windows 7 system.
From Start->Accessories, right click on "Command Prompt" option and select "Run as Administrator".
Now in the command prompt, navigate to c:\windows\system32 folder
Now type regsvr32 <path>\gridview.ocx
E.g: regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPgui\gridview.ocx"
The registration should be successful.
Hope this should resolve the issue.
Regards,
Dinesh

  • Installing SAP GUI 7.30 in windows server 2008 r2

    Hi guys,
Need help in, which patch to be downloaded for SAP GUI 7.30 for windows.
We have installed EHP6 ERP 6.0, the next step is to install GUI.
So, we found that 50120297_6 SAP GUI 7.30 for windows is the GUI we are looking for & downloaded it.
There are some patches to be downloaded too. So, below are screenshot which contains patch list.
Please suggest us which patches to be downloaded. Correct me if anything we have done wrong.

    Hi Rafikul,
    Thanks for the reply.
Below is the screenshot of SAP Notes 66971,
which shows no patch detail's for Windows server 2008 r2
    One question that:
Does we to install all patch from 0 to 8, or only latest patch number 8 is sufficient.

  • SAP GUI Memory issues on Windows Terminal Server 2003!!

    Hi All
We are currently experiencing serious issues with our terminal servers and SAP GUI. It appears that SAP GUI is consuming a large amount of memory inorder to run, which in term is causing our terminal servers to page more.
I am not sure where to start with this issue so any help would be great!
    Thanks
    Phil
Loads of points if someone helps me solve this!!!

Citrix won´t help much, it´s "just" a different protocol between the client and the server, Citrix itself will use even more memory.
Why are you sure, that the reason for this is the SAPGUI and not any other Office program?
    Let´s calculate:
I´m writing this message on a TS too. My Outlook (2003) consumes ~ 32 MB memory (incl. virtual), I have 4 SAPGUI windows open which consume 64 MB and some telnet sessions (no Word, Excel etc.)
Let say roughly 128 MB all in all.
If you have 2000 users with 20 servers, means, 100 users on one server, that would be 12,8 GB memory - not caclulated other services running on that box (printserver etc.) including the operating system itself.
If your users have Internet Explorer (or other browsers) open too, you will need to add that amount too. 128 MB per user is the minimum.
If users use BEx (or other .NET based BI developer tools), that amount will doubled (at least).
SAP recommends a PC with at least 256 MB memory to run a SAPGUI with acceptable performance, do you have that much per users? How big are your single servers?

  • Installing SAP GUI on 64-bit Windows 7 with 32-bit Office

Until about 6 months ago, 64-bit systems in my environment had 64-bit Office 2010 installed.  That caused some problems with other applications, so I made the decision that, going forward, ALL systems would have 32-bit Office 2010 installed.
Apparently, it's taken 6 months, but I finally have a need to Install SAP GUI 7.20 Patch 6 on a 64-bit Windows 7 system with 32-bit Office 2010.  It turns out, that doesn't work.
    I receive this:
Not all package prerequisits [sic] are fulfilled
Outlook Client extension for the synchronization of SAPoffice calendar with Outlook calendar... No compatible version of Microsoft Outlook found.
I am assuming that since this same installation works on my 32-bit systems, that it is upset about my architecturally-mismatched Office.
Am I correct about the source for this problem?  If so, is there anything I can do to make the GUI work in this environment?

    Hi John,
Actually, there is no mismatch in having 32-bit Office installed on 64-bit Windows.  In fact, this is probably the preferred environment.  SAPGUI in general is much happier with 32-bit Office, especially older patches (by the way, 7.20 is no longer in support -- you should upgrade to 7.30).
The errors you're receiving are most probably related to lingering 64-bit components of Office on your workstation.  We had the same situation in my office a while back, when we first started rolling out 64-bit Windows to a few users, and the PC techs mistakenly thought that meant they had to install 64-bit Office.  That caused lots of problems, since 64-bit Office is incompatible with many things, not just SAPGUI, as you found.  Correcting the error by simply reinstalling Office 32-bit resulting in workstations with some 64-bit and some 32-bit components, and that just made things worse.  Systems where 32-bit Office was installed from the beginning (on 64-bit OS) had no problems at all.
So, what you're probably going to need to do is to uninstall all Office components (including Outlook, Visio, anything like that, not just Word and Excel), and also uninstall your SAPGUI, then reinstall 32-bit Office (with Outlook) from scratch, then reinstall your SAPGUI.  This will probably clear up your problem.

    Matt

  • Is there a 64 bits version of SAP GUI 7.20 for Windows?

    Dear Experts:
I have found SAP GUI version 7.20 in Sap Marketplace, but it doesn't say anything about supporting 64 bits operating system (Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bits)?
Should I use the 32 bit version?
    Thank you very much,
    Mr.Clinker

    Hello Clinker,
Still SAPGUI 64 bit version not available. You can use SAPGUI 32 bit version in 64bit OS. It will work.

    Hi All,
    I need the following information:
    1.       What is the Java Runtime version required for SAP GUI version 6.2 for Windows (Platform Windows XP)?
    2.       And is there any problem if we use Java runtime version 1.6 on PC?
It would be great if anybody can provide the information on the above.

To run SAP GUI for WIndows -- Java isnt a pre-requisite nor is there any dependency for the same.

We have installed an application that uses Bapis with RFC.
The customer has installed SAP GUI 6.4 Patch level 14 and had Windows 2000 and our application run fine.

  • Install SAP GUI 7.20 on Windows terminal server

    Hi,
I would like to install SAP GUI 7.20 on a Windows Terminal Server and configure it so that all users on the terminal server share a common configuration. As the installation is now all users have to define the systems in GUI the first time they start it, but I would like to do this globally. Is this possible?

    > estimated 20 or more users who will be using the WTS to do their specific transaction. How much ram do we need to put in the WTS to handle 20 or more users?
This depends on what the users will do on that system. I suggest you contact the hardware vendor for a sizing of the machine.
    > and follow up question, do you recommend using terminal servers?
It's an easy way to centralize the administration, you have got only one SAPGui installation.

  • Transaction IView -- SAP GUI for Windows

    Hi,
I have created a transaction iview -- sap gui for windows in my portal.
Even thought i logoff from my portal, sap gui session that is opened is not closed.
Can any one please suggest me a way to stop sap gui session also when i logoff from my portal.
    Regards,
    Nidhideep.

Very difficult. The SAPGUI window doesn't know anything about being launched by the portal.
You could try launching inside the portal content area.
Also, what is the problem with having the SAPGUI still open?
    Cheers

  • SAP GUI issue on Windows 7

    Hi,
After installing SAP GUI 7.10 on windows 7, SAP is getting closed after ~10 minutes
Please let me know how to fix it.
    Vinay

    hi All,
I did some testing on this and found SAP GUI has nothing to do with this, its the Firewall which is causing the timeouts. I disabled the installed McAfee firewall on my system  and tested and it worked fine.
disabling or adding an exception in firewall rules should resolve this.

  • SAP GUI Error - (GSS-APP DLL) on Windows Vista!

    Hi All
I am getting an error when setting up SAP GUI version 710 on Windows Vista.
When I try to set up an snc logon i get the following message:
Unable to load the  GSS-API DLL named 'sncgss32.dll'
On Windows XP we have a GSSAPI32.DLL in the C drive and all is ok?
    Any ideas
    Thanks
    Phil

The following is working on Vista at a major client in DK. It is important to know wether you use a 32bit or 64bit Operating System. This example is with 32bit system.
Create a uservariable in MS Vista called SNC_LIB. Value is <drive>:\<path>\gsskrb5.dll
    example: SNC_LIB=c:\windows\system32\gsskrb5.dll
the file gsskrb5.dll should ofcourse be placed in the folder specified above. You can download the file from microsoft or from SAP (I think it can be found in a note)
The you setup your SAP environment to handle SSO with the same file in the serversetup - i recommend only to use the gsskrb5.dl file. Verify that the setup is correct on the server. If it is correct the SNC tab will exist on transaction SU01 and when you enter the correct value in the "SNC name" field the should pop up a green checkmark..
In the gui on the specific system you should enter the following value in the Secure Network setting "SAPService<system id>@<domain>".
It should work without problem.. If you have an older version of SAP you should perhaps try out the GSSNTLM.DLL file instead of GSSKRB5.DLL. That can sometimes help if it does not work.
