SAP HANA Tools not installed

Hello,
I followed all the steps and found a workaround to set the local platform.
The problem is that I was never able to install the runtime "SAP HANA Tools" from "Install New Software".
Kind regards,
Patrice

Hi Patrice,
The presentation is a bit confusing for me, but if you have the yellowish icons in new server wizard (Servers View > New Server), you are fine and you can continue.
basically after setting up your development environment, you have to be able to do this: https://help.hana.ondemand.com/help/frameset.htm?7613f000711e1014839a8273b0e91070.html

  • Open-vm-tools/official vmware tools not installing.

I'm trying to install the latest offical vmware tools (16/9/2013) and open-vm-tools but both seem to always fail. I tried some of the patches listed on the wiki, but nothing got me anywhere. The big thing I'm trying to accomplish is to be able to use vmhgfs but, I'd like to have all the tools if possible. Here is what I did.

    Hi experts,
Can someone help me with this error message that is coming when I'm trying to open any link in the Consolidation workbench. Is this because of some patch level not updated ?

  • Webexs Productivity Tools not installing properly

Hi, I'm trying to deploy Productivity Tools in our Enterprise environment and am having a strange problem. Example:
I download the tool from our WebEx site and run the ptools.msi file. Everything appears to work, the user is prompted to run the initial setup and their login works fine. The correct toolbar appears in Outlook (running Outlook 2007 with Exchange 2013)
However, when users click the "Schedule Meeting" button, their meeting scheduler window still looks like it has an older version of productivity Tools:

"Plug-in com.sap.ndb.studio.dwb.team.ui was unable to load class com.sap.ndb.studio.dwb.team.ui.views.RepositoryBrowserView."
Please find the attached image and please help me to resolve this issue.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vicky.

    Hi Bhupender,
Its working fine now. But I don't know how it happens.  I have just uninstalled Hana Studio server and client completely from my system including all the cache files.
    1. Freshly installed the client and then server.
    2. Then click Help->install new software->added the link->"https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/kepler"
    3. Installed the plugins one by one and restarted the studio, accordingly. eg. first select the package  "UI development Toolkit for HTML5" and download the plugins and restart the studio. next "SAP HANA Cloud Integration Tools", next "SAP HANA Cloud Platform Tools" and finally "SAP HANA Tools". Install "Modeling Tools for SAP BW powered by SAP HANA", if required.
Note:  install "ABAP Development Tools for SAP Netweaver" only if it is necessary. Because I faced some plugin errors in Hana studio. Do not install eclipse plugins in Hana studio unnecessarily, because some plugins are vulnerable and it makes the studio, heavy.
The above procedures are working fine for me, till now. Now my studio is healthy and working as expected, without any plugin errors.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vicky.

  • Problem Set up SAP HANA Cloud Runtime Environment

    Hello
I installed Eclpise Version: Kepler Service Release 1. I do not find SAP HANA cloud server on my list knowing that I have installed the plugin https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/kepler
    thank you

Please follow my suggestions in this thread: "SAP" - "SAP Hana cloud" not available in Create New Server

  • ASCS on SAP HANA Appliance

    Hi All,
I am planning to install the ASCS of SAP BW 7.4 in the same  Sap HANA Database Appliance .
I read some notes, including the central note and found nothing related to the Central Services on the appliance.
This scenario is supported by SAP?
    Regards,
    Fabio Nassar

    Issue resolved,
This scenario is not supported, ASCS cannot be installed on HANA Appliance!
Even if you try installing ASCS on HANA host with SWPM sapinst,it will give an error message after
    providing the DB host details.
" The SAP HANA database must installed on a remote host. Please enter a
    different host name".

  • Defining a recursive view in SAP HANA

    Hi All,
Currently SAP HANA does not support defining recursive views as already mentioned in Tals discussion as per the following link:
Defining a recursive view in SAP HANA
I would like to ask again if this limitation is still exist in latest SAP HANA version or not?
    Some background:
In our MDM product we can create a hierarchy tables which organizes information in a hierarchy where each record is related to a parent record and may also be related to sibling records and/or child records.
On other hands, MDM product generates database views that are saved as database queries representing MDM data. Currently HANA limitation prevents creating a database view on top of hierarchy database tables.

    Best regards,
    Ahmad

    Hi Ahmad,
just as I mentioned in BOM explosion there is a feature available in SAP HANA (column view type hierarchy aka hierarchy views) that is used (SAP-) internally.
AFAIK there are some ideas to make this available via SQL, but I don't know when or how this functionality will make it into the standard product.
Ruediger Karl the core HANA PM might be able to answer that.
Until then, you might be better off contacting SAP HANA development about possibly using hierarchy views for your development.

  • SAP HANA: IMPORT/EXPORT Views

We can Import/export tables using hdbsql CLI.
But Is there any way by which we can export/import Views(attribute, analytic, calculation) using hdbsql CLI.
I raised above question some days back
SAP HANA: IMPORT/EXPORT Views | SCN
Also while checking on internet I found another link for the same issue:
    http://scn.sap.com/thread/2141404
And from experts answers, I came to conclusion that Import/Export Views(Attribute/Analytic/Calculation views)in SAP HANA is not possible through hdbsql CLI/ SQL commands. Now Is there a way where I can confirm this from SAP HANA program management guys?

    Lars,
    Thanks for the explanation.
What I am trying to achieve is to create an automate script which should export all tables and views for a schema and again import tables and views in a different schema.
table part is done, But stuck in view part.
I tried the below command and was able to export the calculation view which I created in Content and exists as
_SYS_BIC-->Package(same name as schema where all the tables are stored) --> View Name.
    Command used was:
    EXPORT  "<Schema_Name>"."<Package_Name>/<View_Name>"  INTO '<path>'
    Now I have 2 ques :
    1) I am not sure how to import this exported view. I tried below command but it failed:
    IMPORT  "<Schema_Name>"."<Package_Name>/<View_Name>"  FROM '<path>'
    2) Not sure how to export and import all the views.
I did IMPORT SCAN of the path as well and found below entries for the exported view in the mentioned path:
    SCHEMA_NAME, OBJECT_NAME, OBJECT_TYPE, EXISTS
    "_SYS_BIC", "<Packagename>/CalculationViewName>", "VIEW", 1
    "_SYS_BIC", "<Packagename>/AnalyticViewName>", "VIEW", 1
    "_SYS_BIC", "<Packagename>/CalculationViewName>/olap", "VIEW", 1
    "_SYS_BIC", "vwTile1ALLData", "VIEW", 1
Any Inputs would definitely help. Thanks.

  • "Host Command" for SAP HANA

    hi all,
are there for SAP HANA a "Host Command" (from Oracle), which you can jump from HANA studio or HANA client to the operating system "SUSE Enterprise SERVER"?
    greeting
    ichtouk

    Hi Ichtouk
the sqlplus command host does not allow you to execute commands on the server you're connected to. Instead, you can execute local command without leaving your current sqlplus session.
It is by no means an open window to the Oracle servers O/S (would be bad, don't you think?).
Having said that, SAP HANA does not include a SSH client in the database client software.
If you want to access the SAP HANA server on O/S level, you really need to use a proper SSH client with a regular O/S user logon.

  • 30 days HANA trial: can I recreate VM for "SAP HANA Studio" in cloudshare?

    Dear experts,
got the VM's for the 30 days trial both up and running.
Is it possible to recreate the VM's  mentioned below to start from scratch again ?
    a. SAP HANA SPS5 server
    Installed: SAP HANA SPS5 server
    OS: SUSE Enterprise 11 SP1 64 bit
    OS: Linux
    State: Running
    b. SAP HANA Studio
    Installed:
    • SAP HANA studio
    • SAP HANA client
    • Office Professional Plus 2010 SP1
    • Visio 2010 Premium Edition
    OS: Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1
    OS: Windows
    State: Running

    Thanks for reply,
As SLT is based on ABAP, so we can write complex logic in it.
But if we talk about SAP ECC standard data source, they have complex logic, based on multiple table.
So we need to write code from scratch in SLT to derive same result. but it will be huge time consuming , and required good ABAP skills, also it will lead to bug in code.
Also it will reduce the real time performance of SLT, due to complex logic.
Second option is procedure via SQL script, which is again huge effort in term if logic and can lead to error/bug in logic.
Does we have any other way or architecture to do this is very simple way, with high performance and less error issue.

  • Install of SAP HANA Studio Dev Ed v1.00.80 fails with "Could not create the Java Virtual Machine"

    Hello,
Scope: JVM error during initial install of SAP HANA Studio Developer Edition v1.00.80, Win86/32bit
Source: installation files pulled from HANA Studio tab at https://hanadeveditionsapicl.hana.ondemand.com/hanadevedition/, which is a link from the main HANA site of http://scn.sap.com/community/developer-center/hana.  zip folder: "sap_hana_win32_studio_rev80"
Targeted O/S: Windows 7, 32-bit, local Java is SE 7, update 67.   Java environment has been confirmed via checks provided at http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
    Actions taken:
Attempted to update the installation's eclipse.ini file by reducing the -Xmx value; see details below.
Read thru postings such as http://scn.sap.com/thread/3390626 and the threads it recommended.
Checked OSS (ie Note 1859686 - HANA Studio does not start)
    Description of installation error:
Shortly after executing "hdbinst", it fails with the error "Could not create the Java Virtual Machine".  I've verified that there is nearly 3G of memory free.  What I did notice, as shown in the attached files, is that Eclipse is part of this installation and it's pre-loaded with the "eclipse.ini".  I firmly believe the solution could be to reduce parameter "-Xmx1024m" to "-Xmx512m" but it's a catch-22 because even after updating eclipse.ini (in installation folder C:\Program Files\SAP\hdbstudio\tmp_p2director2014.08.13_13.36.44\director), the install program requires that the "hdbstudio" folder to be empty upon restarting it.
Since the installation is basically a package with a lot of .jar files, there is no eclipse.ini file available in the source install folder; otherwise, updating it there would be the easiest solution if that option were available. The file is only available in the targeted deployment folder above.
If you have encountered this same error and were able to resolve it, I would be grateful to know of your solution.  Thanks very much.
FYI: the HANA Client installed with no issues.

FYI: the images below reflect the sequence of images produced during the installation.
after clicking OK above, the screen below gets updated (see the "is not empty" msg).
Below is the eclipse.ini file located in the deployed/target folder:
Message was edited by: Jim Cleek
FYI: Using information from the SAP HANA Database - Studio Installation and Update Guide, I tried to override the installation's use of its eclipse.ini file by passing my own modified version (with "-Xmx512m") of that file that was placed in a separate folder.  The cmd used via DOS window was "hdbsetup.exe -a studio --configfile=C:\Users\Admin\Downloads\eclipse.ini" and even though it successfully launched the SAP HANA Lifecycle Management gui, it failed on the first step with the same JVM create error as above because it appears to have used its own eclipse.ini file, which has "-Xmx1024m".

Update: a message was opened with SAP but unfortunately they could not provide a resolution for this particular scenario.  They admitted that the eclipse.ini file cannot be updated since it is bundled as part of the installation package.  One point to make that I did not make before was that this was being attempted on an Oracle VirtualBox (4.3.10); the SAP HANA contact said he assumed that SAP has not tested this particular scenario, thus it could not be supported.
Resolution: the end result was to abort trying to install SAP HANA Client and Studio on the Oracle VirtualBox but to install it locally on my own desktop, which runs on Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit with 8G of memory.  The SAP HANA files below were downloaded, extracted and installed successfully in the order shown.
FYI: the Studio installation detected that a 64-bit version of Java was not installed so I installed that and then adjusted the User environmental variable JAVA_HOME to point to that new path, leaving the System variable still pointing to the pre-existing 32-bit Java path.
