SAP PLM DMS Connector - Read Only

I've a very simple question.
Using SAP PLM DMS Connector can I upload documnents into repositories configured for DMS?
I read the documentation and it looks like a read only connector.
Thanks and Regards,
Prasanna Krishnamurthy

Hi,
It is a read only connector, confirmed by SAP.

Does the Universal Connector read only the changes in the external database into the Connector View every scheduled cycle or does it read the whole of the database into the connector view every time ?
I need to write a indirect connector for Lotus Notes database using the universal connector and univeral text parse. So I want to know if the Import and Dump scripts that I will have to write will have to read just the changes that took place or the whole of the Notes DB everytime ?

If it is possible to get just the changes then do that.

  • Business Connector - Read only - Administrator role

    Hi Community,
We've currently got SAP 4.8 running in our environment.
The situation is that often developers need to check the extended settings, logs, or what jobs are scheduled.
The two main roles are Developer or administrator.
The only way to get access to the web GUI admin page is to assign the administrator role.
Does anyone know how to assign a "read-only" role for the web admin page?
I would then assign this to a developer rather than give them full administrator access on business connector.
    Kind Regards,
    Chris

To the best of my knowledge thats not an option.
But like to hear it if otherwise.

  • Read only access to J2EE related tools

    Hello,
I would like to help our auditors access everything they need to check in the Java systems, but I am not ready to give them ADMIN accounts. That`s why I need some kind of read only access for them.
So I would like to ask you if there is a SAP Note about the read only access roles for J2EE/ Java AS?
I am afraid there is no such note available, so can anybody share any experience with granting read only access to the Java system? I know how to grant access to the whole NWA, but what about the rest?
    Examples:
    - is there a way how to grant read only access only to the UME?
    - is there a role for read only access to the portal PCD?
    - is there something similar for KM access?
Or has anybody ever tried to split the admin roles into smaller pieces? Is there a description/ document how to do such thing?
Thank you for your time and effort,
    cheers Otto

    Hi,
thanks for trying, but I can use help.sap.com and was on that page before.
Maybe if there were any examples there or better: if the whole thing would be more granular (I see no point in using roles starting with SUPER, containing ADMIN or ending with ALL). I am looking for roles for surgery or for auditing. I don`t want to give anybody these super/admin/all roles just like that.
If you can suggest how to use that page, that would be cool. Otherwise I see no use.
By the way: another question of mine about surgery: How to restrict access to download/ upload UME configuration file
I would like to know how to controla access to this specific feature, nothing else.
Thanks for the time and effort,
    cheers Otto

  • Database Read only

    Hi All,
Can SAP application connect to read only SQL Server database ?
We are trying to use secondary database of log shipping, for our operational adhoc reporting of production data.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks
    Mushtaq

    Hi Mushtaq,
no, this is not possible. Even if you do not run any reports/transactions which you know will write to the database, the SAP system will run its internal processes and they'll write to the database. For this reason it's not possible to use a read-only DB for an SAP system.

    Hi,
I will appreciate some advice please.
I'm interested in SAP and plan to gain certification in SAP PLM (Project Management Modules), but I've not got any SAP experience. I've got under 3yrs experience in Project Administrator, Support and Coordinator type roles, got my Certification in PRINCE 2 Practitioner level, Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) Practitioner level, PPSO and ITIL foundation level.
Where will you advice I place myself looking for a SAP role, Iu2019m not looking to get a consultancy type role or anything like that, just something that will get me into the SAP career path with my project background.
Also is SAP PLM the best or only focus for me given my Project background?
Finally, any advice on companies that will consider someone with my profile?

  • In create WD DC screen, vendor is read-only

I am trying to create custom web dynpro component.  In the create DC screen, the vendor is set to sap.com and is read-only.
With SP10, we were able to set this to our  company domain.  After upgrading to SP17, the vendor field is read-only.
Any ideas on how re-enable this field for modifications?

    Hello,
You have to define the vendor in your SLD.

  • DMS Connector for KM : I see only one document type from the document area

    Hi,
The DMS connector is installed successfully on KM.
I can display folder tree and documents but I see only one type of document.
I mean, when I use transaction OAC0, I see different content repository defined in DMS.
I wonder where is the setting that specified which content is link to the DMS connector for KM.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Zbynek,
I installed the DMS once, but my experience how to use it is poor.
In the Backend ( Transaction CV01N i think,) you can store search variants using the prefix you have defined for the DMSRM (default is KM_<theName>). This variants can be used to filter out several documents. There must be a way to give authorizations on them. Maybe you will have to use a security manager, i don't know.. in our case the user persistence (authScheme) was SAP-System an no TREX involved.
It is not much, but maybe it helps...

  • RFC function callls a SAP Business Connector Flow - only upper case

    Hi everybody,
I wrote a function in SE37 which is calling a Flow in SAP Business Connector.
R/3 and SAP BC, both are Non Unicode systems.
The export parameter is TYPE makt-maktx.
The call to SAP BC works fine. Only all the text I can see in the pipeline of SAP BC is upper case.
I checked wether the domain of the makt-maktx allows case sensitive texts.
    This is OK.
I have no idea how I can tell SAP BC to receive case sensitive texts.
I checked the forums. Seems nobody had such a problem.
    Can somebyody help?
    Best regards
    Jochen
    Hi to all,
it was not the JAVA Version, or a bug or whatelse.
I just ingnored while testing in SE37 that there is
    a Flag [X] case sensitive - That's all!
    Shame on me!

  • Read-only scenario issue in SAP BPC 7.0 SP07

Please do not post duplicate threads across forums.
    Hi
This is related to SAP BPC.
The appset which runs on SAP BPC 7.0 SP07, is not able to write on read-only scenarios, while the appset which runs on SAP BPC 7.0 SP3, allows to write through script logic.
If a read-only scenario cannot be written even through a script logic, it is impossible to finalize working versions.
So, let me know if anyone came across such similar problem. And how was it resolved?
    Thank you.

  • Agile PLM Read Only Tables

    Hello,
Im working on Agile PLM and facing issues in modifying the 'Change History' for an Item.
    When i'm executing following code-
    ITable table = item.getTable(ItemConstants.TABLE_CHANGEHISTORY);
    Map param = new HashMap();
    param.put(ItemConstants.TABLE_CHANGEHISTORY, "10");
    IRow row = table.createRow(params);
    Following error is observed
Exception in thread "main" Error code : 60063
Error message : Object is read-only
Agile SDK documentation says the table "Change History" is a Read-Only table, how can i make it writable??
Any pointers in this regards will be helpful.
    Hoping for a response.. :-)

    Hi,
Only the released/canceled changes with the Affected Items could be listed in the Item's 'Change History' table. You cannot force any data write to Change History directly.

  • SAP PLM link with SAP DMS

    Hi, Gurus
Please tell how we link SAP PLM C-folder & SAP DMS?
If there is any link please for this.
how we integrate SAP PLM -C-Folder with SAP DMS?
if anyone know answer if give me solution.
    Ravindra

    Hi,
    1. Create RFCs between SAP PLM and SAP DMS servers using by tcode 59.
    2. Once connection established, then you can transfer tha data from PLM- cProject suits to DMS.
    3. You can also transfer tha data from cProject suite to DMS or vice versa through web.
You can ask to your BASIS team.

  • CUP 5.3 with SAP EP 7.0 (UME as LDAP Read Only)

    Hi experts,
I have a simple question to figure out whether or not it's possible to :
    - use CUP 5.3 to ONLY assign UME portal groups on EP 7.0, considering the fact that my portal has UME as Read-only LDAP?
SAP Notes and SAP docs (including How-to Configure SAP BusinessObjects Access Control .3 for SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.0) don't provide an answer for this.
If you follow the documentation with a Portal UME as read-only, you will have an error like : "Can not modify firstname attribute on Active Directory..."
    To sum up
    - EP 7.0 has UME = Read-only LDAP
    - CUP 5.3 has UME = Read-only LDAP
    - We want to use CUP to assign portal groups without modifying users file. According to documentations and previous posts on SDN it seems that everyone has write access on the Active Directory servers What if we don't?
    Many thanks for your answers

Problem was solved implementing patch 2 for GRC 5.3 - SP08

  • How can we make SAP system READ ONLY !!!!!

Hi, we have an SAP R/3 4.6 C Application. We need to take the system for read only state means we don’t want the users to allow any update for the system but they should be able to view the data what they have created. Mean while we don’t want the database to be taken in read only mode as we the administrators or the users might want to update their password information.
It would be a big help if some one can through some tips on how we achieve this.
    Thanks much in advance.
    Guru

    Hi
Please make the database in READ ONLY MODE. This will help. If it is an oracle database then.
Open a Database in Read-Only Mode
You can open any database in read-only mode to prevent its data from being modified by user transactions. Read-only mode restricts database access to read-only transactions, which cannot write to the datafiles or to the redo log files.
Disk writes to other files, such as control files, operating system audit trails, trace files, and alert files, can continue in read-only mode. Temporary tablespaces for sort operations are not affected by the database being open in read-only mode. However, you cannot take permanent tablespaces offline while a database is open in read-only mode. Also, job queues are not available in read-only mode.
Read-only mode does not restrict database recovery or operations that change the database's state without generating redo data. For example, in read-only mode:
Datafiles can be taken offline and online
Offline datafiles and tablespaces can be recovered
The control file remains available for updates about the state of the database
One useful application of read-only mode is that standby databases can function as temporary reporting databases
Opening a Database in Read-Only Mode
Opening a database in read-only mode enables you to query an open database while eliminating any potential for online data content changes. While opening a database in read-only mode guarantees that datafile and redo log files are not written to, it does not restrict database recovery or operations that change the state of the database without generating redo. For example, you can take datafiles offline or bring them online since these operations do not effect data content.
If a query against a database in read-only mode uses temporary tablespace, for example to do disk sorts, then the issuer of the query must have a locally managed tablespace assigned as the default temporary tablespace. Otherwise, the query will fail. This is explained in "Creating a Locally Managed Temporary Tablespace".
Ideally, you open a database in read-only mode when you alternate a standby database between read-only and recovery mode. Be aware that these are mutually exclusive modes.
The following statement opens a database in read-only mode:
    ALTER DATABASE OPEN READ ONLY;
You can also open a database in read-write mode as follows:
    ALTER DATABASE OPEN READ WRITE;
However, read-write is the default mode.
    Regards
