SAP PP - production scheduler

hi.. i am a fresher in sap pp. i want to know what is production scheduler and production scheduling profile in work scheduling view of material master?

Hi Tuhin,
Production sheduler is The Person who is responsible To  do all Scheduling Activities. with a aim to Maximum Utilisation of the Resources.
Production Scheduling Profile: i am giving some useful notes about this but you have to do some excercise to get clear understanding of this like changing options and creating NEw production orders. Be clear with Scheduling Profile As it have very good impact on production order processing.
The following controls can be set:
a) On creation
Automatic Order release on creation of the order (when the order status is CRTD)
Automatic Links of header Material related documents and BOM related documents items to the order (when the order status is CRTD)
b) On Release
Automatic Printing of Order papers on release of order (when the order status is REL) - If you are planning to use order related shop floor papers configured in the order list or order print settings in SAP, then you can use this functionality for automatic printing of papers at order release.
Automatic Scheduling of Order on order release (when the order status is REL) - This is recommended to be set. But donot use this if the order planning and scheduling is happening from an external system like APO or i2 etc.
Automatic Links of header Material related documents and BOM related documents items to the order (when the order status is REL)
c) Automatic Goods Receipt
If you are planning to receive certain materials automatically in to the finished goods storage location upon confirmation of the final operation in the order, then you can use this indicator rather than using the control keys in the order operation. Setting automatic goods receipt at this level reduces the effort of master data creation.
d) Capacity Planning
If you are planning to carry out Capacity Availability checks in the order for the header materials (which would carry the production scheduler profile), then you need to select the "Confirm Capacity indicator" and the "finite scheduling indictor" and choose a leveling profile.
The Capacity overall leveling profile is used by the system to carry out capacity availability checks in an order when the order is created or release as per the settings in the order availability controls at creation/release. SAP has provided an option to have the Capacity overall leveling profile maintained at material level rather than setting the profiles at order levels in the order availability controls. The Capacity Overall Leveling profiles once assigned here decides the way in which the capacity leveling has to be done for the materials (assigned with this production scheduling profile).
As far as the indicators are concerned, they only come in to play during mass conversion of planned orders in to orders or mass release of orders when the user does not decide the creation or release and the system is set to create or release anyways inspite. The below indicators help the system to make decisions on capacity availability checks and helps it proceed in creating or releasing the order.
By choosing the "finite scheduling indicator" you are forcing the system to consider all the operation work center of the header material relavent for finite scheduling during capacity availability checks, and in cases where there is no capacity availability for loading operations on work centers, the system loads operations on dates where there is sufficient capacity (automatically rescheduling to dates where their is availability).
And by choosing the "confirm capacity indicator" for capacity availability checks, you are indirectly telling the system to incorporate loads in work center loading reports for where there is sufficient capacity available, in other words the operations for which there is no sufficinet capacity available will not be loaded on work centers in the work center loading report. You should choose this indicator wisely.
Recommendation - Aviod using the "Confirm capacity indicator".
e) Confirmations
No Flor/Update of Expected Yield Surplus/Deficit - On Final Operation or order confirmation, if the confirmed quantity is less than (deficit) or more than (surplus) the operation or order quantity (confirmed scrap quantities) are not taken in to account , then the system displays the Yield Variances in the order header.
If you set this indicator the variances (if any) donot flow in to the order and MRP. This is not recommended to be used under standard circumstances since Material requirement planning would not consider the shortages and spoil the concept of net requirement planning or netting.
Adjust Operation/Component Quantities to Actual Value - In simple terms the system would readjust the planned operation qauntities of the order if you confirm the order with a smaller/larger yield than that planned (including the confirmed scrap quantities). Along with readjusting the planned operation quantities, the components quantities of the components assigned to the operation also changes proportionately.
This is applicable for the operation that has a yield variance and all the operations below the operation that has a change.
The system carries out the following in case there is a difference in the confirmation of planned quantities and the actual quantities (during order or operation confirmations)
a) Automatically readjusts the operation quantities for all operations below the concerned operation, including the concerned operation.
b) Automatically readjust the component quantities for all the components assigned to the operations below the concerned operation, including the concerned operation.
c) Readjusts the planned costs for all the operations and the order, overall. Though this recosting has to be done manually and it is not triggered automatically by the system.
d) Automatically reschedules the operations giving new dates and new capacity requirements.
e) Automatically makes changes in the Purchase requisitions created in the order for non-stock items or for the purchase requisition created for externally operation processing.
f) Automatically readjust the Transport requests created for WM.
For example -
Operation 0010 - Planned Qty = 100
Operation 0015 - Planned Qty = 100
Operation 0020 - Planned Qty = 100 - Component 10 - Qty = 100
Operation 0030 - Planned Qty = 100 - Component 20 - Qty = 100, Component 0030 - Qty = 50
Operation 0040 - Planned Qty = 100 - Component 40 - Qty = 100
Operation 0050 - Planned Qty = 100
If the confirmed qty in Operation 0015 is 102, then all the below operations and the component quantities are changed proportionately as shown below:
Operation 0010 - Planned Qty = 100
Operation 0015 - Planned Qty = 102
Operation 0020 - Planned Qty = 102 - Component 10 - Qty = 102
Operation 0030 - Planned Qty = 102 - Component 20 - Qty = 102, Component 0030 - Qty = 54
Operation 0040 - Planned Qty = 102 - Component 40 - Qty = 102
Operation 0050 - Planned Qty = 102
f) Batch Creation at Order level
If you want to have batch created at order level for certain header materials, then you can create a production scheduling profile and assign this profile to them.
You can configure whether you want Order level header material batch creation at order creation or release.
Not only, can you configure order header material batch creation, but you can also configure whether you want the batch created and classified in the order foreground or in the background (optional or mandatory).
g) WM related Transfer Requirements
Here you can specify whether you want to automatically create WM related transfer requirements or transfer orders for the order components (whose storage location is maintained, Storage location is relevant to WM, WM views are maintained for the component) at order release.
h) Order Type
In the production scheduling profile you can default order types which would be used while converting a planned order in to order or which can be used for manual creation of production order.

Mahesh.

When i tried to make confirmation for Production Order through CO15 transaction , i receive the following error message “ Production scheduling profile for production order type 10 does not exist – SAP Message No.10085 “
In Work Scheduling view, Production Scheduling Profile is maintained as per OPKP only.
How to check whether production scheduling profile is maintained for relevant order type 10.
To do this , i went to OPKP & KOT2_OPA transactions but i don’t know how to check. I guide me through with a screen shot.
Also, pls explain about  “Order Type 10” and how it is linked with material and order execution.
Looking for a detailed explanation with screen shots , since i am new to SAP.
    Thanks With Regards,

    Hello Dinesh,
Please check the order type dependent parameter in OPL8 here you will get the Substitute Scheduler
Then go to OPCH and check valid production scheduling profile assign here as per OPKP to your production scheduler for your plant.
Production order have Order category as 10  Process Order  40 in standard SAP you can check this in OPJH.

  • SAP PP (Production Planning) Master Data Definitions

SAP PP (Production Planning) Master Data Definitions and Transaction codes.

SAP PP (Production Planning) Master Data Definitions
    • Factory Calendar
    • Material Master
    • Resource • Bills of Material (BOM)
    • Production versions
    • Master recipe
Factory Calendar: The factory calendar is defined on the basis of a public holiday calendar. The public holiday and factory calendar is a central module in the SAP System. It is assigned to a specific plant during the initial system setup and therefore used in many areas (e.g. in Logistics and in Human Resources) in the system.
Material Master: Material master comprises if all the basic data of the material for each department. The data covers all the relevant information required for the transactional flow e.g. sales, Planning, Production, Quality, Purchasing, Costing etc. Material master covers all the descriptive and control data and the flow of information depends on fields maintained within it. The integration of all material data in a single database object eliminates redundant data storage. Material Masters are created once and can be changed or extended whenever required
Bill of Materials: Bill of Materials or commonly called BOM is a formally structured list of components that make up a product or assembly. The list contains the material number of the component together with the quantity and unit of measure. BOMs are used in their different forms in various situations where a finished product is assembled from several component parts or materials. Resources: Resources are production facilities and persons involved in a production process that have capacities. They are subdivided into categories to specify their suitability for certain purposes or their use in certain processes
Product Versions: A production version determines which alternative BOM is used together with which task list/master recipe to produce a material or create a master production schedule. For one material, we can have several production versions for various validity periods and lot-size ranges. The production version determines the following:
    • The BOM alternative for a BOM explosion.
    • The task list (master recipe) and any alternate, as needed.
    • Lot-size restrictions and validity parameters.
Master Recipes: A master recipe defines the following data that is required for the production of materials without relating to a particular order: processing steps, resources, material components, and control information for the process control level. Master Recipe enables to plan the production of materials (products). Therefore, Master Recipe is used as a template for process orders and run schedules as well as a basis for product costing. In a Recipe
    • The Phases (work steps) to be carried out during production.
    • The activities to be performed in the operations as a basis for determining dates, capacity requirements and costs.
    • The use of materials during production.
    • The use of resource.

    Hi Brendon,
If you are trying to find out packages for MII, the best link is this: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/webcontent/uuid/90537bfe-fd6b-2910-fda3-b04f1177c51e. • Details about Master production Scheduling & Variant configuration

    1)  What are the steps for Master Production Scheduling (MPS)?
    2) What are the steps for Variant Configuration?

    Hi,
    MPS:
With in your planning time fence (maintained in mat master ) , you will get firmed planned orders because your MRP Type P1 - P4 has firming type.
And the firmed planned orders will not change after next MRP run.
You have to set MRP Type p1 - p4. acc to firming type. in ur mat master.
Then run MPS .It is generally for important products and it is run single level.Because it will not change your procurement proposals as it has firming type.So you get effective planning for your imp products.
    Variant configuration:
Go to mm01 create a material and in bd2 view mark the check box material is configurable and then save the material and go to ct04 create chara.
Go to cl01 and create class with class type 300 and assign the charac. to it
Go to tcode cu41 create the profile using material code and assign the class to it
then got tcode mm02 and assign the profile there
Variant configuration material type is KMAT (SAP std), u can use this material type alternately u can mark the indicator in basic data 2 view ->client specific configuration->Material is configurable tick.

  • Production Scheduling

We are currently creating process orders and scheduling them to a date.  We then take the order numbers and schedule dates and put them in an Excel sheet to create our weekly schedule.
My question: Is there a way to create a production schedule in SAP 710 with either a summary report or log that is date defined.  If there is, were do I find it?  What section?
Thank you in advance for your help,
    TC

You can use R12 instance, but if latest rollup patch not applied then PS will not work.

  • Customer-specific production schedules

We have contractual obligations with a major customer that require us to complete production of materials they order a set period of time before their requested ship date.  For example, they order material with a requested ship date of 3/1/12 and the contract requires that we complete that material and have it in stock 4 weeks prior to that date.
The same material can be ordered by other customers that do not hold us to that "early completion" arrangement.  What options are available in PP-PI that will let us model and automate this circumstance, where production schedules and completion dates can vary by customer?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    B,
I hope you are getting a premium price for having signed that contract.
Generally, MRP will try to schedule the Finish Date of a planned or production order to match the Material Availability date of a Sales order.  You would like the MAD of the Sales order to be 4 weeks earlier than the planned Goods Issue Date of the sales order; and you would like it only for specified customers.
In SD, you can use Transportation and Delivery scheduling'.  This functionality determines which timing durations are relevant for your sales orders and the associated deliveries.  The data items that affect the duration between planned GI date and planned MAD are 'Loading Time' and 'Pick/Pack' processing time.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/dd/5607e7545a11d1a7020000e829fd11/frameset.htm
Loading time and Pick Pack processing time are entered in configuration of the Shipping point that is used in your Sales order.  Shipping point in the Sales order is in turn determined a few ways; but one of them is by Shipping condition.  You can enter the Shipping condition in the Customer master.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/dd/5607cd545a11d1a7020000e829fd11/frameset.htm
    So, conceptually:
    1.  Create a Shipping point where the combination of Pick/Pack and loading time is 4 weeks.
    2.  Create new Shipping condition.  Assign it to your customer.
    3.  Create Shipping Point determination where the combination of the new shipping condition, the loading group, and the plant will determine the New shipping point.
    4.  Ensure that you are using an ATP check, so that other customers don't 'steal' the stock that has been placed into stock for your '4 week customer'.
Speak to your local SD expert, he should be able to set this up for you with no difficulty.

  • Production Scheduling Test Scripts

    Hello..
Does anyone have any test scripts to share for Production Scheduling or similar docs?
    Thanks!

    Ben,
It would be a mix of cost , functionality and the platform..
First of all what kind of testing are you talking about : - Functional testing ? performance testing ? ..??
    Platform :
If you are talking about netweaver - then you could look at Mercury ( now HP ) and their netweaver testing suite.. ( loadrunner)
R/3 you have what is called a CATT / e-CATT which can be used for the same - here you would create the necessary test scripts and then replicate the same. And for XI it is a totally different method..
    Cost :
If this is going to be one off then you can reconsider setting a testing infrastructure for the same otherwise you would need to set up a test bed for testing the same...

  • Master Production Schedule

    Hi,
I wanted to know what is MRP types and the significance of MPS MRP Type.
    Regards
    Geetu

    Dear
There are plenty of theards available in this topics in the forum .However , some inputs on this topic is as follows :
MRP type define the way of planning of material like PD which is relevent to MRP and ND which is non relevent to MRP. Like wise VV for forecaste and VM and VB we use for consumption base pllaning.
If you want consumption base planning then you have to set an MRP type for the material in the MRP Type field in the material master (View MRP 1) to Reorder point planning, for example VB or VM. But we want to use MRP procedure then we need to maintain PD.
MRP types : In the MRP types different categories are there
    1) Produce to Demand
    2) Consumption based planning
    3) Forecast based planning
It is procedure that you set in the system on how the Material is planned
    - Reorder Point
    - Seasonal requirement
    - Replenishment
    - Forecast Based
    - Master production Scheduling
SPRO --> MM --> Consumption based planning --> Master data --> Define MRP types
or you can check in material master MRP1 view by pressing F4.
    MRP types
Now MPS Type : MPS, Type M0 to M4  -fixing types-
MRP is for single item multi level and MPS is for single item single level.(normally used for high value items.)
In this concept you can explode to only one level, once the production has been completed, you can run MRP for next level. Before running MRP analysis can be made manually by the user. For this purpose only MPS is arrived.
But you can run MPS ( single items single level ) material as MRP ( single item multi level ) also.

unable to delete Role from User ID in SAP SOLMAN production system but able to from DEV with the same authorization, pls suggest

    Hi,
For SU01 role removal, you do not need S_USER_AGR with 02, and as you mentioned both authorizations available in production, if so trace should not show you the S_USER_AGR with 02 with RC=04.
I would recommend to do role comparison for the user performing the activity. and then check if you have the S_USER_AGR with 02 in user buffer SU56.
But ideally it should not ask you S_USER_AGR for 02 through SU01, so please take help of abaper to debug it.
Also put trace in non-prd to see if S_USER_AGR is getting checked with 02 for removal through SU01.

    Hi
How to create a SQVI report for generating a list for SAP CRM Product Hierarchy which should show the outputs->Level 1, level 2, level 3 and level 4 categories and its products?
I tried COMM_Hierarchy table and Comm_product but not able to achieve this requirement.
or Is there any chance of getting related tables so that I could try more for this requirement.
In which table both product id and its category Id can be found?

    Thanks DJ
Is there any possibility to get a report for product hierarchy in SQVI ?
say in SAP CRM system, the product category is maintained in COMM_HIERARCHY as
    Parent category Id->
                                    Level2 Category Id->
                                                                     Level 3 Category Id->

    Hello,
You can create a new work center by copying an existing work center. in the cr01 screen in the copy from column put the plant name and Ref. work center name and put enter. all the existing data will be copied to the newly created work center. no need to create new assignment to  Production Scheduller and Cost Center.
