SAP Sizing for potential client

Hello all, There is a potential new SAP client who wants to implement SAP. They want to do SAP sizing. What I understand is some one with  S ID should be doing the sizing. Question is, how should they request for new id or do the sap sizing them selves?
I am a Basis guy, but we want the client to do his own sap sizing. How should the client proceed?
Regards
k

Hi Kourosh,
Sizing is something that requires some sort of understanding on varios parameters that Quick Sizer uses. If your client is new to SAP then the outcome of their sizing may not be relevant utlimately.
I suggest for them to use an expertience consultant for sizing. The consultant may use his/her own S-user.

Shival

  • 1 SAP Console for 2 clients (on the same system)

    Hi,
We are merging two business units on 1 SAP system. In the beginning they will both have their own client on the same system.
Within both BU's SAP Console is being used. Can we use one SAP Console for both clients?
Or are separate SAP Consoles needed?
If it is possible to use 1 SAP Console, please let me know how (what to do).
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Cheers,
    Thomas.

Instead of read-only access to each other's iTunes directories, I followed instructions posted elsewhere on this forum and have ITunes in both accounts pointing to the same physical file. From my account, I can see all the songs, both the ones loaded from CDs and the ones downloaded from ITunes (using my ITunes account). From her account, she can see the songs I loaded from CD, but not any of the songs I've downloaded.
If I share my ITunes library, then she can open the shared file and see all of the songs, downloaded as well as those from CDs. However, if she selects any of the downloaded songs, she cannot put them into playlists or otherwise copy them to her IPod.
She doesn't have an ITunes account. Her ITunes is set up to use my account and is one of the two authorized "Computers" for my account. I thought that going into ITunes and authorizing my ITunes-account would have solved the problem, but it doesn't.
I'm running the latest ITunes (Macintosh) software, version 7.0 (7.0).

  • Questioners, Proposal Document and Estimation for SAP BI for New Client

    Hi All,

my requirment is I want to Prepare SAP BI Questioners, Proposal Document and Estimation how to prepare this three activities. Beacuse my Organization getting new Cusomer asking this three activities.
Please provide me any one solutions....
    ASAP.... please
    Thanks in Advance........
    Thanks & Regards,
    Bharathi

It sounds like you want to ask the client some questions to work out what they want from their BI project.
You have probably been provided with some information about the client and about why they are talking to your company. Use this to choose some specific questions or to try to uncover particular challenges and requirements for that client.
Based on the requirements you believe they have, you should provide a high level project plan - i.e. what activities you would do, a rough indication of timelines, number of resources, etc.
Based on this you can estimate how much the project would cost. The cost side should be validated by the account manager in your company as they may know what sort of project scales they usually take on and what sort of costs they generally find acceptable.

  • Default sap* password for new client copy ?

    Hi Basis Expert,
What is the default password for sap*, i have create new client with SCC4 and i tried to login but failed.
please advise what is the default password for sap*.
    i am using Netweaver 7.0 SP16.
    Thank you and best regards

    Hi!
If you followed the procedure, you should have set the profile parameter login/no_automatic_user_sapstar to 0 and restarted application server. After that you can login using SAP* and password PASS.

  • How do i create a calendar service for potential clients to subscribe to?

I work for a company where clients come and hear people speak and I want to create a calendar that people can subscribe to and see the information regarding the event.

    Greetings,
If you wish to share an entire calendar with others (not just send them individual events) then you will need a host.  A host is a server which sits on the internet and holds the calendar for you.
If you are a MobileMe subscriber you can create a calendar and share it with others (MobileMe is the host in this case): http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=MobileMe/Help/en/mm6b1a9479.html
You could also sign up for a free calendar service like Gmail calendars / Google calendars and share your calendar with them (Google is the host in this case): http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=37083
    Hope that helps.

  • Server sizing for multi-client Acrobat Reader access of .pdf files

I am trying to specify the appropriate file server (need processor rating & memory size)running Windows 2008 for 64 high tempo users on a LAN accessing large .pdf files (~20 mb each) using Acrobat Reader 8 or 9. Total data package size is about 30 Gig. LAN is Gigabit speed on CAT 6 cable.
    Suggestions?

Time is 10:35 PM, Jan 30, 2014 after a day of nerve racking attempts to get Adobe Reader 11.0.6 to open a pdf file I have finally succeeded in doing so.  The following apkhan response to my original inquiry, even though it didn't directly help me much, but it gave me an insight that what I was inquiring about in the description of my problem had to do something with the EULA I was inquiring about and couldn't find were and how that is to be done.  For whatever reason I had installed Reader 11.0.6 three times throughout the day and still couldn't read a pdf file or see the EULA to agree to it or not.  During another installation of Reader 11.0.6 at 9:00PM, 1-30-14, a window appeared and required my administrative password to install the software and rightly so.  This is probably the reason why Reader was  so dysfunctional, because for whatever reason, this approval window didn't appear during the initial installations but I was allowed to install Reader anyways and the proof of it was it did end up in my Applications Folder-confusing and strange at best.  Without my administrative password the software should not have been allowed to be installed and this has always been the case. I will have to dwell upon that one for a while.  Anyway, for everyones information, the Mac version of 11.0.6 Adobe Reader doesn't ask for you to click a button to Agree or Not Agree to an EULA verbiage statement.  Just above the INSTALL BUTTON (Yellow Background)  on the installation window the instructions notes, when you hit the install button you aromatically agree to the EULA and the way you go.  I tried getting into the EULA via the Adobe the desktop Icon but to no avail.  Hopes this helps someone else.  Thanks to those at the Adobe Community that tried to help me with this mind boggling episode.

  • SAP Sizing for additional users and functionality

Our company is currently doing an SAP HCM rollout project to the other departments. The current exercise is of determining hardware requirements should these be necessary. Currently the configuration is as follows there is a Central Instance with 8 processors x 1.8Ghz and 24GB of RAM, and there are two dialogue instances with also the same specs. The solution has FI/CO, MM and HCM modules and currently the total 3824 users and they are growing at an average of 30 users every month. The HCM rollout is likely to bring on board a further 5000 users onto the system.
The second scenario is on the portal server were they are deploying ESS and MSS with a JCO to the R/3 production as the backend system, currently there are 1800 users and we are looking at adding about 6000 additional users.
Currently the portal box has 8 processors x 1.8Ghz and 24 GB RAM.
All the servers mentioned above are Proliant BL480c G1.
What would be the ideal hardware specs to host the users and the solution.

  • SAP* not authorized after Client copy

    Dear All,
    Here's the scenario:
    1. Created a new logical system for a new Quality client 230.
    2. Created the new client 220
    3. scheduled a test remote client copy from the new client, source Production. (Successful)
    4. Scheduled the actual client copy to run last night.
    5. Today morning, I'm logging into the new client with SAP*, it prompted me to change password.
    6. I want to look for the client copy logs (SCC3), but getting "not authorized"
    7. Checked all other transactions, all giving "not authorized" error
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Dear Reza,
Better to go for Client Export Import process . This is what SAP reccomends for coping clients  between
different systems ( Like from Production to Quality ) as the remote client copy has many
    disadvantages..
For this 1 ) you should get the downtime of production system and do the client export process .
    SCC8 . See the logs at scc3 .
    2) Copy the datafile and cofile to the Source system
    3) Import it usting stms_import .
Monitor the logs as the logs will be grown massive and make sure enough space is there.
    4) After client copy , go for post processing ( scc7 ) .
Hope you are clear and feel free to get back if any doubts.

    Nibu

  • SAP* and DDIC passwords for new clients in Sol Man 4.0

    Hello all,
I just recently finished a Solution Manager 4.0 on Windows 2003 server box. Then, I performed some of the post installation steps until I had to create a new client. So, I went to scc4 and created a new client. When trying to get access to this new client through SAP*, the default password did not work and the entries were not created in the table usr02. Also, I tried to insert the missing entries into the usr02 table, but had no success after all.
I hope some of you can help on this, because I am stucked on it.
    Regards,
    Luis Alberto Zeró

    Hi guys ..
i thing you can check in Document Installation guide Solution manager  on Page <b>108</b>
If you install a new ABAP or ABAP+Java system, in most cases you do not need to perform the client copy for
the ABAP stack. SAPinst creates three ABAP clients during the installation, client 000, client 001, and client 066.
You can use client 001 for production.
The following procedure describes how to perform a client copy manually. We recommend that you
use client 001 as source client.
    <b>Caution</b>
If you want to use a client other than the default of 001 as your production client, you have to reconnect
the Java part to the production client as described in <b>SAP Note 937323</b>.
    <b>Procedure</b>
    1. Maintain the new client with transaction SCC4.
    2. Activate kernel user SAP*:
       a) Set the profile parameter
          Login/no_automatic_user_sapstar to 0.
       b) Restart the application server.
    3. Log on to the new client with kernel user SAP* and password PASS.
    4. Copy the client with transaction SCCL and profile SAP_CUST.
    5. Check the log files with transaction SCC3.
    6. Deactivate kernel user SAP*:
       a) Reset login/no_automatic_user_sapstar to 1.
    <b>Caution</b>
You create SAP system user SAP* on the new client
       before resetting
    <b>login/no_automatic_user_sapstar.</b>
       b) Restart the application server.

  • SAP Hardware sizing for "User-Based sizing".

    Short Text
    User-based Hardware Sizing
    Long Text
    Dear SAP Support,
We would like to know the SAP Hardware sizing for "User-Based sizing".
    Our queries is
    1. In "User-Based sizing", What we have to consider,
the number of users are calculated in the basis of
Concurrent users in the system in a given point of time
    or
total number of users logged into the systems in the whole day?
We have referred the SAP document "Sizing SAP System" and the above
    point are not clearly mentioned.
    Regards,

As the document says there are number of possible definitions for "users" in SAP context...
For understanding assume that no of users logged to the system they consume different resources / areas in the system, some login to the system whole day but they don't work whole day, some user open multiple session to work while other open multiple session but they don't exactly work on it which means (every new session consume memory/resources) like you said their are concurrent users wherein they work and consume resources (SAP WPs)
So before finalizing the sizing first compare the both reports (user based, thorhgput) and read the advantages and disadvantages for both. You can also consult with SAP / Account Manager to help you
as per SAP document there's no point in counting no of pc's, laptops to calculate no of users
    Also refer:

  • SAP Content Server sizing for DMS

    Hi
Can anyone advise on the most appropriate way to 'size' for a new Content Server. Documents have been stored in the SAP DB till now, but the use is increasing, so now a new Content Server is to be added and all existing documents migrated into it. I have seen references in the past to SAP methodology for sizing the content server, but now cant find any.

  • Sizing for BI Accelerator now in SAP QuickSizer

    Hello everyone,
the sizing is now available in the QuickSizer. http://service.sap.com/quicksizer > Create Project and select SAP NetWeaver BI. Click on the "Help" link on the top right-hand side of the screen to get more information on how to fill out the sizing for BI+BIA.
Most of the data is the same as for sizing BI. If you have done a BI sizing already you can copy and paste the values into a BI+BIA sizing. Please note that you have to create a new QuickSizer project. Otherwise the BIA options will not appear.
If you already have a BI system (loaded with data), then the program and method described in SAP note <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/917803">917803</a> is recommended. It will take a while to run, but it is definitely more accurate than a QuickSizing.
    Regards,

    SAP NetWeaver RIG

Mark, thank you for your prompt response, as always. My intention is not to push loaded indexes into 60% mark - but exactly the other way around:is 50% of free RAM enough or is it possible to do educated calculation of how much of free RAM (50%, or may be 60% or more) has to be left for both querying and indexing. My intention is exactly to prevent "out of memory" in the first place. Especially in global deployments, where indexing (for Asia) and querying (for America) might be happening at the same time.
Besides calculations I am looking as well for more information:
1/ 50% rule in heterogeneous environment - should 50% rule apply to each single blade or spread across all blades? In the latter scenario: if hypothetically we have 2 blades - 16GB and 48GB, should there be 8GB free on the first and 24GB on the second, or more like 12GB on first and 20GB on the second?
2/ How queries queuing mechanism in BWA works to prevent overloading from multiple queries fired simultaneously? How can we calculate maximum number of parallel queries?
Looking forward for your and your colleagues' comments. If you think I should start separate thread - please let me know.
    Best regards,
