SAP XI and COM interface

The Import / Export Service has been developed by 3rd Party to allow you to programmatically load information into the 3rd Party Command Centre System. The service can be used to initialise new installations, and to synchronise data in an on-going basis with other applications within your organisation. The Import / Export Service is a licensable feature. Therefore, for this feature to work, your site must have the Import option turned on in their licence file.
The service consists of a Microsoft Component Object Model (COM) Automation interface, and a set of import / export plus data translation scripts. Data is imported into the system using the Extensible Markup Language (XML). While this is the sole format the system uses for data imports, translation scripts are provided to convert from comma or other delimited file formats, to XML.
Data may be loaded into or extracted from the 3rd Party Command Centre System in an on-line real time manner, or in a batch oriented approach. The method that is most appropriate to you will depend on your specific business requirements. The on-line method is appropriate if you require data to be immediately updated in 3rd party Command Centre after being keyed by an operator into one of your existing applications, or where an external application requires immediate access to data held in 3rd Party Command Centre. This method is provided via a COM Automation interface that can be called by any COM compatible programming language, (e.g. VB, Delphi, JScript). The batch approach also uses the Automation interface, but information is passed to or from 3rd Party Command Centre in one or more data files rather than directly through the programming interface. This approach can either be initiated by calling the COM interface directly, or by setting up a scheduled task that looks for, and processes, new files.
My question is can I directly communicate with this COM interface with the existing adapters of SAP XI. I had initially thought of file adapetr to put the XML file in the FTP location from where this COM interface will poll and pick the file but in a real time scenario can we go for this approach. The other option is to publish this COM interface as a webservice but not sure how much rework is required to make this COM Service webservice enabled.
Apart from this can you suggest any other approach which we can work out.
Thanks in advance
Ravijeet

Hi Ravijeet !
You could develop a Java Proxy client that uses the COM objects to extract data and send them directly to XI (http://research.microsoft.com/~chadv/java_com2.htm)
Or you could develop a proxy application in VB or any other tool and do the COM calls and then connect to XI via HTTP, RFC (e.g. SAP .NET Connector) without creating any file in any file system.

Matias.

    Hi
In a test system of a XI (NW 2004s)  the components sap.com/com.sap.aii* and sap.com/com.sap.xi* are not displayed in Cluster -> Services -> Deploy -> Application therefore ExchangeProfile and Repository (rep/start/index.jsp) don't work.
This components are installed in development system, don't know if was installed manually.
The question is if this components can be downloaded and installed (deployed), or installed same files of development system, unfortunately the sda's are not in the server but i have the dvd's.

  • Web Output Pack and COM interface

There is no forum for the Web Output pack, so I am posting this in the output server forum, as this is the closest product to it...
Is there anyone out there using or attempting to use the Adobe Web Output Pack via the provided COM interface?
If so, were you successful or unsuccessful? Are you passing the data via a file or dynamics into the "Data" property?
Are you having trouble parsing tags like "^Global" from you compiled form?
I have this strange feeling I am the only person who is attempting to use the COM interface, passing data dynamicly...

solved verifier problem by running "deploytool" in the windows 2k shell rather than running the verifier/ deployment inside the IDE .
The IDE seems to work for most of the packaging activities on Applications and components .
However, there are some IDE problems with deployment - wild guess is Classpath problems - that are solved by using the deploytool outside the IDE.

  • IDOC type for interface between SAP ECC and SAP F&R

    Hi Experts,
I need SAP standatd IDOC type for interfacing between SAP ECC and SAP F&R [SAP Forecasting and Replenishment] using message type u201CFRE_LOC_SITEu201D.
Please help me in finding the idoc type?
    Regards,
    Krishan

    Hi Denish,
You have 2 ways of loading data from R/3 to APO.
    1. R/3 to BW cube to APO-BW cube to APO planning area
    or
    2.  R/3 to APO-BW cube to APO planning area
BW can be a enterprise BW system ( independent) or you can use the BW inbuilt in APO also referred to as APO-BW.
The only difference between the 2 BW systems is APO-BW can not take the load of reporting where as the enterprise BW can.
Unless your company policy requires the enterprie BW system, I suggest using 2nd way.
You can load the data from R/3 to APO-BW cube using extractors either generic or standard depending on your data. You need to have a RFC connection setup between APO-BW and R/3. ( This is not CIF).
When you load the data into the APO-BW cube, you just have to load the data from the cube to APO planning area using the transaction /sapapo/tscube.
Refer to [DP Data Mart|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm50/helpdata/en/13/5ada58309111d398250000e8a49608/frameset.htm] for more information about the data transfer between APO-BW and APO.

  • Scenario for interface between a non sap system and a SAP erp

    Hello,
I need some help in order to elaborate a interface between a SAP ERP and a non-sap system with the help of a XI system.
       -  At first regarding the interface from the non sap system and a SAP ERP :
the non sap system sends a flat file to the XI system. The flat file contains a row with header data and rows with item data. We were thinking when the file arrives to the XI system, to save the data in a header database and in a items database in XI. is it possible ?
And then to have like a job that reads the database and creates idoc and sends them to the SAP erp and updates the xi header and items database  with a flag that means that the records have been sent to the SAP erp.
       -   Regarding the interface SAP erp to non SAP system:
the SAP erp sends idoc to XI. Then the idocs are transformed into flat file.
    Is this scenario possible ?
Do we need any adaptator between the non sap system and the XI ?
    Thank you for your help
    Christophe

    Hi Bontron,
Idoc doesnot support synchronous call. So you can use either proxy or function module and inturn call the idoc from them and send response back to xi. You need to have two scenarios for your design.
Scenario1:   Source File (file adapter) -- xi -- Dump into database tables (Jdbc Adapter)
Scenrio2:  Pickup form Database tables  (Jdbc Adapter) -- xi -- RFC Adapter  ---> This is synchronous call.
Regarding the interface SAP erp to non SAP system
You can send idoc to xi and from there use File adapter to send to the receiving system.
These blogs may help you to some extent:
    /people/sap.user72/blog/2005/06/01/file-to-jdbc-adapter-using-sap-xi-30
https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/XI/step%2bby%2bstep%2bRFC%2bto%2bJDBC%2bscenario   (your scenario will be opposite to this)

Any ideas as to where these are ?

I don't think you can use ME2.1 Client with MI2.5 Server. At least they have different login protocol, and maybe different synchronization protocol as well.
The library MEg.jar, that I have inspected for the missing libraries, is a part of MI25 SP09. I heartily advise you to migrate your application to MI.

  • SAP 3.1H com kernel and export for DB2

    Hi all
Please let me know if any one have SAP 3.1H com kernel and export cd for DB2 as i am stuck with  SAP migration MSSQL to DB2 .i am unable to download from SMP since this is older version.
    Thanks in advance

As to your other question about IDocs and ALE.  We did a lot of IDoc and ALE development on 3.1H before upgrading to 46C 5 years ago. I don't remember major differences in the transactions.  Obviously you have fewer IDocs with less capabilities to work with.  If I remember right, SD was really limited on 3.1H.  That was the area that gave use the most pain compaired to 46C.

  • ITunes COM interface and iPod Chapters

    Hello everybody
Does anyone know how to make Chapters through the COM interfaces for iTunes? Looking at the documentation there's no such functionality as far as I can see, but double checking anyway.
If not, is there any other way to make chapters for MP4 files that are supported by iPod? I am on Windows so ChapterTool is not available to me.

I don't think the COM interface supports what you want to do. You can get the documentation here:

I want to develop an custom adapter module which could retrieve the names of the sender and receiver interfaces of the scenario and for that i am trying to use com.sap.aii.af.service.administration.api.monitoring.ProcessContextFactory.ParamSet but i don't know whether this API will support or not and also i don't know how to develop the code using this API so please suggest me some code for it so that i could retrieve the names.
    Thanks you all in advance.
    Regards,

    Hi,
Just ASMA setting will do the needful. Are you planning to rename your target file name. If yes then only you will require UDF.
Update: Since your directory name will be taken from source file name then you have to use mapping for this, else it will not be possible.
I don't know if creating a new module for this will help you solve the issue, but in that case rather creating adapter module, mapping will be easier.

Similarly Extended Receiver determination is used to determine the receiver at runtime.
Refer my reply:Re: Condition In Receiver Determination Not Working
    enhancement in ID
    Enhanced Receiver Determination:
You use an enhanced receiver determination to have a mapping program determine the receivers of the message dynamically at runtime. Instead of creating the receivers in the receiver determination manually, you assign a mapping to the receiver determination and this returns a list of receivers at runtime.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/43/a5f2066340332de10000000a11466f/content.htm
    Enhanced (Mapping-Based) Interface Determination
In an enhanced interface determination you do not enter the inbound interfaces manually, but instead first select a multi-mapping. You get the inbound interfaces from the target interfaces of the multi-mapping. The inbound interfaces are determined at runtime during the mapping step.
You typically use an enhanced interface determination if the source message has an element with occurrence 0 ... unbounded (for multiple items of a data record) and you want multiple messages (for the individual items) to be generated at runtime.

  • SAP SCM and SAP APO: Best practices, tips and recommendations

    Hi,
I have been gathering useful information about SAP SCM and SAP APO (e.g., advanced supply chain planning, master data and transaction data for advanced planning, demand planning, cross-plant planning, production planning and detailed scheduling, deployment, global available-to-promise (global ATP), CIF (core interface), SAP APO DP planning tools (macros, statistical forecasting, lifecycle planning, data realignment, data upload into the planning area, mass processing u2013 background jobs, process chains, aggregation and disaggregation), and PP/DS heuristics for production planning).
I am especially interested about best practices, tips and recommendations for using and developing SAP SCM and SAP APO. For example, [CIF Tips and Tricks Version 3.1.1|https://service.sap.com/form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700006480652001E] and [CIF Tips and Tricks Version 4.0|https://service.sap.com/form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700000596412005E] contain pretty useful knowledge about CIF.
If you know any useful best practices, tips and recommendations for using and developing SAP SCM and SAP APO, I would appreciate if you could share those assets with me.
Thanks in advance of your help.

-There are a couple of blogs (e.g. www.apolemia.com) .. but all lack breadth.. some topics in depth.
-"Articles" section on this site (not all are classified well.. see in ECCops, mfg, SCM, Logistics etc)
-Serivce.sap.com- check the solution details overview in knowledge exchange tab. There are product presentations and collaterals for every release. Good breadth but no depth.
-Building Blocks - available for all application areas. This is limited to vanilla configuration of just making a process work and nothing more than that.
-Get the book "Sales and Operations Planning with SAP APO" by SAP Press. Its got plenty of  easy to follow stuff, good perspective and lots of screen shots to make life easier.
-help.sap.com the last thing that most refer after all "handy" options (incl. this forum) are exhausted. Nevertheless, this is the superset of all "secondary" documents. But the maze of hyperlinks that start at APO might lead you to something like xml schema.
Key Tip: Appreciate that SAP SCM is largely driven by connected execution systems (SAP ECC/ERP). So the best place to start with should be a good overview of ERP OPS solution overview, at least at the significant level of depth.). Check this document at sdn wiki "ERP ops architecture overview".
I have some good collection of documents though many i havent read myself. If you need them let me know.

  • Archiving Information from "old" SAP systems and switch off the server

    Good day
I hope someone can offer some advice. Our company has a few sites across the globe. Three of the sites in South Africa ( where I'm working at the moment ) had their own SAP systems. Three odd years ago, we implementeted a new SAP system, combining the separate SAP systems into the new one, running of the same box etc etc. The "old" SAP systems were still availbale after the new one went live, in the event that people want to look back at history.
We are you busy with a project where we are going to merge our current SAP implementation into our global SAP system... obviously only the current master data are going to be transfered to the new system. It's an idea time for us to clean up our data.
My question: Once we go live on our global SAP system, we want to "export" or archive from the 3 "old" SAP systems the Master Data from the HR module ( like employees who's left the company - it's law to keep the records for 5 years at least once a employee has left) , HSEC and FI modules into a single datastore... this way we don't have to keep the three servers running in the event that history is required. The servers wil be kept off-line and only switched back on if a detailed audit is required.
The global SAP system does not have an archive solution implemented to we can't access archived data from the new system...
So, we need to export master data from our 3 old SAP boxes into a Unicode type file system, and our local South African sites needs to be able to access the information using a text type editor or a web based interface we can run off our SAP Portal...
    Thank you

    Hello Cornelius,
To introduce myself, I am an active SDN/BPX member as well as an ASUG Archiving and Information Lifecycle Management Volunteer.
Decommissioning Legacy Systems (SAP and non-SAP systems) is quite the topic these days with divestitures becoming such a common occurrence.
Some things to think about in this situation are:
Identifying the data to be decommissioned:
what information would be needed for an audit
what information would be needed for a lawsuit situation
Identifying the access requirements to this data.
Identifying the retention policies for this data (this will be
    driven by regulatory requirements, etc.).
If this has not already been done - define retention periods for this data - it will most likely have different retention periods based on the type of data.
You mention that you do not have an archive solution in place yet.
I would recommend that you may want to research that option because typical requirements for retaining legacy data is that it is stored in such a manner so that it is protected from any type of modification.
There are a lot of 3rd party archiving/storage solutions that provide this type of secure storage.
You are correct in that you will want to export or archive the legacy data as opposed to loading the data into your current system.  It would probably involve a large increase in the size of your SAP database and you would probably run into number range overlaps.
But, if this data is exported to a filesystem, you will be losing the business logic associated with the data, and the information is no longer in its original format (this could have legal ramifications).
I would recommend using SAP Archiving functionality for this effort.  If you are looking for outside resources, there are many vendors out there that have a lot of experience with these types of projects.
Two that come to mind are Dolphin IT and OpenText.
Or, depending on the timeline of your project, SAP is coming out with a tool that can be used for decommissioning SAP Systems.  It is part of
their SAP ILM solution.  It will be called Retention Warehouse.  Here is a paragraph from their latest white paper describing this new tool:
With the retention warehouse, SAP now offers a
standardized method for system decommissioning in
answer to these pressing issues. It allows you to reuse the archived data outside the original system in a central
    retention warehouse.
For more detail on this topic, the white paper can be found on the SAP ILM Website:
    service.sap.com/ilm
This tool is part of a larger initiative from SAP to help customers with their ILM (Information Lifecycle Management) strategy.  This tool is near and dear to me as I was fortunate enough to be part of an
ASUG Influence Council that helped with some of the requirements for this solution.
I hope this information is useful.
    Good luck and Best Regards,
    Karin Tillotson

    ABOUT XI :
If it’s just that you wanted to know more about sap xi....then the information below should definitely help you.
The best way to learn XI would be to make the maximum use of XI from its forums, weblogs, presentations, etc in SDN.
First I thought I will just give u the basic steps involved in doing any scenario in XI. This is very essential for a beginner.
First of all you would need to define your product, software component, business system and configure the technical landscape in the sld.
You then go on to create the objects in the repository, you import your software component here and then begin your design steps. To import your RFCs n Idocs if you require any before proceeding.
Then under the name space which you want, you go on to define your data types, message types and message interfaces.
Then you do your message mappings where you specify your source and target message types and the relation between them, then you do your interface mapping. If you are using a BPM, you do the integration process.
Once you have this done, you will have to move to the directory, here is where you define how you use the objects and how you configure them to work as a scenario.
You assign your business system to the configuration scenario which you have created, and create the communication channels. Then you go on to configure the receiver determination, interface determination, and the sender and receiver agreements. Once you’re done you will have make sure you activate your objects. The exact parameters steps depend on what kind of scenario you are implementing.
You can use sxmb moni or the runtime workbench to monitor the entire scenario which you have done.
Also I would suggest this link on SAP help for any info that you want on XI,
